Was in and out in under an hour. They found a small pin hole that was causing the issue. 100% of cost covered under warranty. Only thing I am not happy with was car insurance went up as a result of having to have windshield replaced. Certainly not a Safelite issue so in hindsight make sure your insurance covers these things without penalty!

Reason is the rear defroster quit working after 16 years. Simple job I thought I even called ahead and Ricardo said we can do it. Well, the simple job turned into a NIGHTMARE and these geniuses instead of removing the glass took a hammer to it instead! They cleaned up some of the shattered glass but not all. A couple days later is when I discovered what had happened. Glass on the back seat, floor, trunk and inside the hatch door. The hatch door sounded like a baby rattle plus there was a leak. Also, there was a plastic cover they removed and never replaced inside the hatch. Great I paid $426.02 for utter slop! I vacuumed the car and removed a half of a gallon zip lock bag full of glass that was left in the car. The rest was inside the hatch door which I was unable to get to. I called Ricardo and told him about this, and he set up an appointment for 6/18/2026. Went up to Vestal and they checked the rear glass for leaks there were none. When I showed Ricardo all the glass I vacuumed out of the car is when the BS started. They had nobody there to remove the glass from the hatch. Unhappy with the outcome I called Customer Service and was originally told if their guys did it they would fix it. Then it changed to we can't do nothing about it. Well long story short I watched a 20-minute YouTube video and removed the hatch door and taillights. I cleaned out the rest of the glass and now no leak. Had everything reassembled in 3 hours something Safelite should have done! I don't know if they are incompetent, lazy or have no common sense, but I should have hired a plumber they probably would have done a better job! Safelite repair Safelite replace is a JOKE! It should be Safelite you repair after Safelite Replaces! I wouldn't have these guys clean my toilet! They did buy the part that was missing from the hatch door I received it on 6/21/2026.

People get all worked up over this. It is a normal practice and you can simply say no thank you, and they just do what you want done. We live north of Binghamton and the manager (Joe) always offers to run the vehicles down for us. It is closer to drive to his house than to Binghamton. I have know him for a long time and he is a straight shooter. My sons truck had a few marks on it after they had it in and they took it back and made it right. Every few years I may have them do a detailing on the paint. They typically will always come down on their "list" price and when you consider other local detailers, their prices are right in line.

If you have asthma; copd or MCS (multiple chemical sensitivity) I would not recommend ever having this done to your car. It is extremely toxic!!! If I had known how toxic this was I never would have had it done. I'm supposed to take it back yearly for the next 9 years, not happening! This was a waste of $750.
