I was there with a wedding party. The food was great. The portions were huge. The service was lightening fast and they had the coolest potato bar I have ever seen. They also have some very cool stuffed game in the corner =) read more

Ten of us went for a late dinner in December. The staff was fantastic, and fixed us a feast and made us feel very welcome. Particularly great was the clam chowder, broiled chicken and tenderloins. Thanks Lori!! read more

Haven't been to Hill's Still in a couple of years, decided to try them out. We got there and discovered the prices seemed high. I don't mind spending money on a good meal so we figured what the heck. Soda was small and filled with lots of ice., I didn't realize refills wern't free until I got the bill (didn't see it on the menu either). The soda was.about the size you get in a casino cup. A couple of swallows is all you get.Salad bar didn't have much of selection, but at least everything was fresh. Food was alright, but it took awhile to.come out, and the portion sizes we're small. It was Texas Roadhouse prices, with about half the size of a Texas Roadhouse steak. Granted this is the Northwoods, Restaurants in the area have low competition and high overhead... for now, I'll just stick with the place that's a few miles up the road. read more

Came back to Hill's Still after many years and new ownership. Expecting a similar experience to previous dinners , we were pretty disappointed. We arrived on a Saturday evening around 5:30. No dinner patrons in the dining room. The waitress was very slow bringing our drink order. I ordered a Jack Daniels and lemonade that tasted as if the bartender waived the bottle over the glass and then filled with lemonade. The salad bar was not exciting at all. Very blah! The steaks were average quality, high priced. We will try 1 more time. We're in hopes that it will improve. read more

I wouldn't let my dog eat there. The place smells of cigarettes and mildew. We were offered their salad buffet. Three weeks after St. Patrick's Day they still had Corned Beef in that crappy buffet. Good luck getting a drink from the stoned barmaid! read more

Hill's Still is an institution in the Crandon area! Great old supper club with classic menu of steaks and prime rib; Friday fish fry. Great old fashioneds and desserts. Friendly and accommodating staff. We always dine there every time we go north! read more

I love this place!! I'm from Illinois and have been coming to Hill Still for a long time when I visit. Was sad to hear the owner passed away I knew him for many years just a great guy. His daughter now runs the place and is doing an amazing job! The food is fantastic always flavorful and the young lady behind the bar does a great job. The drinks she makes are always very good. I like to switch drinks a lot lol. read more

Love this place. We had our Northwoods wedding rehearsal dinner here. The fish and chicken are the best ever! It is so hard to find delicious food in the middle of nowhere, but this place does it with superior service with a genuine smile. read more

We visited here the day before New Years Eve with a group of 20. We had made reservations ahead of time. The table was set and the staff was very busy but friendly. The bad experience started with the bar. I had the worst old fashion of my life which was sad since this part of the country is famous for them. The other cocktails were not much better. They charge for each small glass of coke to which is tough with kids. For dinner a majority of the group had steak and lobster. The lobsters were under done. The baked potatoes were hard and salad bar was lacking. The worst part of our visit was yet to come. 12 of us got food poisoning. The common denominator appeared to be the steak. I can say we won't be back. We had been here before and had mediocre experiences but our friends enjoyed this establishment so we were game. read more

I have always enjoyed this supper club. I really enjoy the chicken and fish on Friday. Salad bar is great! Potato bar gives you a huge selection. The new owners are working very hard to make Hills Still a fabulous evening dinner spot. The bar has a great vibe. read more

On our stop here the food for the most part was good, but the service sucked. We were here on a Friday night so the special was all you can eat fish and chicken (served family style). I had the fish it was great, and I herd the chicken was good. One guy got the prime rib he said it was mostly fat. When it came to the service the waitress was really confused and slow. Plus the salad bar was empty when we got there and we had to ask for it to be refilled. read more

We went for the Friday fish fry. Service is really good...the fish/chicken is all you can eat ($14). The chicken was a bit bland, but the fish was yummy. The salad/soup/potato bar was all you can eat and included with the chicken/fish--it wasn't the greatest (potatoes were a bit cold, salad bar didn't have lots on it), but the clam chowder was excellent. I'd recommend this place. read more

Our family has been coming here for years. A great North Woods spot, with great food. The broasted chicken is incredible - served fresh. Love the new outdoor patio area. Will definitely be back! read more

Absolutely awful. Had the buffet, the food was old and out of a can. Instant mashed potatoes and gravy, all the vegetables out of a can. BBQ ribs so tough you couldn't chew them. The worst was the "manager" very very VERY rude. Cannot believe her behavior towards a customer that had an issue. We observed her from our table yelling at a customer that was calm and talking to her about the poor quality of the food. She threatened to call the police of these people. We lost our appetites and couldn't wait to leave. Never going back and you should stay far far away. Honestly, I made an anonymous account just because I don't want that woman to have my name. read more

My husband loves their pan fried walleye! Just have to make sure you ask for the pan fried not deep-fried. They used to have an amazing salad/potato bar with soup but it has really been cut back quite a bit since the new owners however we still go there at least once whenever we come up to our cottage because the service is excellent and the staff are very friendly and the food is good. We love the waitress Lucy and the manager/bartender Austin! She makes wonderful cocktails and really tries to get to know the customers. We just hope someday they will bring back that awesome salad/potato bar. That was often my meal! read more

We've been going to this place for years...many years. Dependable food and good salad bar. Something horrible has happened. Sat down and order just the salad bar. The waitress didn't ask if we'd like something from the bar, and didn't even bring us water. Had to ask for that from someone else. Proceeded up to the salad bar, and was shocked. Lettuce and all of six toppings were offered, two of which they were out of. With a disappointing salad in front of me, I asked the manager as she passed by, what happened to the salad bar. She explained they use to offer 40 items but had to cut back. The only cut back will be my business. This place has gone WAY downhill. read more

Salad bar was very poor, old lettuce, a couple of tomatos, applesauce. That was it. Prime rib was way overdone, bread was old and dry. Cake for desert was really dry..no going back forme. Waitress was trying but seemed very new and didn't the answers to the type if potato choices or if we get soup and salad ...weird. read more

It is unfortunate when I read the review from the lady from TX - the steaks are picked up locally twice a week from a local butcher and never see the freezer. I think her review is unfair and blaming the steak? As far as the old fashioneds - well these are true WI girls and they know how to make that kind of drink! Not sure what you have in Texas. I have had nothing but FABULOUS STEAKS! The food there also doesn't ever see a microwave. Ronica and Austin closed the restaurant for my parents' 50th and we had a HUGE party and it was perfection! Every person there could not get over how wonderful it all was. I just had them cater my large crew of 20 at my lakefront property - prime rib and prawns - we had some who didn't like prime rib until that day and now THEY LOVE IT! My question to TX - did you call the owners or talk to the staff while you were there about how horrendous it was? Didn't think so. read more

We stumbled on to this northwoods treasure on Friday, June 13th; the first thing you will be drawn to is the awesome wildlife scene behind glass. This collection contains bear, deer, bobcat, just to name a few. The opposite wall is dedicated to our nation's veterans; there are many pictures of veterans and articles about the veterans; it is very humbling. I was told by a member of the staff that all veterans and those currently serving are encouraged to bring in a photo so that it can be added to the "wall of honor". The special was all-you-can-eat fish and chicken for $11.95. It was hard to make a choice due to the menu's vast selections. We opted for the special which was a great choice - it included a vast salad bar and soup. Also, it came with a potato bar which included everything from baked potatoes to potato pancakes. Everything was absolutely delicious!! This establishment is highly recommended!!! read more

We have fresh local & organic produce on the salad bar and we use them in a variety of dishes on the menu. Our meats are picked up fresh from a local meat purveyor for delicious steaks. The atmosphere is very comforting with great ambiance. We care greatly about honoring all of our veterans as you may see with all of of donated military pictures. The cocktails and beer selections are some of the best in the area with fresh Mojito's and Cucumber chillers (seasonal) and a great Old Fashioned to start before dinner. Come See US!

Established in 1978.
It has been family owned and operated for 40 years.
Meet the Business Owner: Ronica A.
Ronica Anderson is the daughter of Suzie & Milt Hill who has owned Hill's Still for all of these years. Her parents came into retirement and asked her to keep the restaurant in the family. Like the rest of the family she has loved cooking all her life and has came up with great new menu items inspired by the east and west coast. She has also changed the decor inside and out for a whole new look and feel. Children love to come and look at our state record 747lb. black bear as it is a great family environment to come and eat.

Not sure why ANYONE would complain ONE BIT about eating here, I have eaten here DOZENS of times and have NEVER been disappointed... lots of options, FANTASTIC PERCH!! PRIME RIB TO DIE FOR... and a potato bar for people like me who can't decide what they want to accompany their ALWAYS yummy dinner... employees actually have a personality and don't move around like they hate their job like so many places... and the owner seems to remember everyone when they come in.... it's not cheap diner food but CERTAINLY you NEVER feel like you haven't got your money's worth... from YOUR OWN opinion and give it a try.... I SERIOUSLY DOUBT you would be disappointed!! read more

Me and 2 friends went there for their Easter buffet, We were seated immediately, the waitress was attentive and brought out drinks right away. the buffet was out of this world the food was fantastic. I will definitely go there again. The buffet began with rolls and a mixture of cooked veggies then corn and turkey Gravy, there was so was so much to choose from even a glutton like me was overwhelmed, strawberry shortcake, carrot cake and prime rib, Leg of Lamb, Great tasting coffee and i left full and satisfied. Everyone agreed this was the right choice for Easter. read more
