Spanning just three miles in length and 900 feet in width, the charming town of Hillsboro Beach is all beach. I have been to Hillsboro beach a few times and I have always found this town to be very clean and relaxing....the views that you can take from the beach, the canal, the lighthouse and the parks have always been beautiful ! Situated on a peninsula between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean, water views surround you...... everywhere you look. With no commercial properties to be found in Hillsboro Beach, things to do take the form of communing with nature and delving into the history of this quaint beach town. Head to the beach and set up for oceanside fun in the sun. From March to October, Hillsboro Beach is home to leatherback, loggerhead, and green sea turtles nests. Although sea turtle nests can be found throughout the beaches of Broward County, Hillsboro Beach is proud to have one of the highest densities of sea turtle nests per mile along Florida's East Coast. Nests will typically be marked by the county for protective and tracking purposes. Keep in mind that it is illegal to disturb these nests or the hatchlings.

Great beach, quiet, lots of space, perfect for families. The chair and umbrella rental are quite expensive, but that's the case all over Florida. Lots of parking too, right at the beach and also in the municipal lot. All in all, five stars. Love this place.

I think I may have missed the boat, parade, party.... Arrived about 7pm for a glass of wine at sunset but it appeared the festivities were just ending. Some of the tents were still standing, garbage trucks busy and a few "vendors" packing their wears. Much of the parking was blocked after what must have been a beach-front event... hey, where's my invite? This was a spontaneous decision that took us to the beach for our Saturday evening and we timed it just right. The clean-up was underway and most of the attendees had "hit the road". We parked in the near empty lot which was probably this way based on the time of day. There were still a few families on the beach but we found a great spot to watch the waves and sit back with our wine, cheese and fruit. There was a noticeable police presence (not sure if this is normal) but it felt safe even post-sunset.

Here to celebrate Europe trip this summer!

Similar to a car you need to be 16 to drive one so my 11 year old daughter was on the back of mine and my 6 and 9 year old sons joined my husband. We met Dominic at the Pioneer Park- boat ramps in Deerfield Beach. Please note that this location is different than the address on the Yelp review since we were a bit confused ourselves. We started off slow getting used to the jet skis and also admiring the beautiful homes on the intercoastal. Then for about 30-45 minutes we got to go as fast as we could zipping over massive waves and holding on for dear life. I thought we were speed demons, but my thrill seeking daughter kept yelling at me that I wasn't going fast enough. My 9 year old son did fall off the back of my husband's jet ski, but he claimed that was the most fun part of the excursion. .And Dominic was nearby the entire time to help out in these situations and more, but overall we felt very safe. 1.5 hours was perfect and everyone had a great time. They declared it their favorite day in South Florida and made us promise we'll rent jet skis again on a future trip. Done!

People walking up on the beach asking the price were told $150, so the $30 reservation was pretty meaningless and seemed to be just an extra charge. Also, the area you can drive the jet ski in is pretty limited. Wish I would have known.

After an emotionally intense,…read morelong ER shift, combined with personal challenges, I decided to go to the beach to pray with as much faith and love as I could, because I needed a miracle. As I sat there, emotional and vulnerable, a woman approached me. At first, I was startled, but then she spoke. She said, "This may sound weird, and I've never done this before. I even asked God, 'What am I supposed to do? Just go up to her?'" My eyes began to water as I listened. She continued, "Whatever problem you are going through or what I'm asking for God wanted me to let you know that I will get what I'm asking for. He wants you to know that you will be alright. I'm sorry, I don't know why He told me to tell you this." We both began to cry. I replied, "God did want you to give me that message, because I just finished asking Him in prayer to help me, and through you, He replied." We were both overwhelmed by the miracle that had just happened. We hugged tightly, and I thanked her deeply. This experience is proof that if you maintain a pure heart during difficult times and don't allow negativity or evil to take hold God will ensure you know He is right there with you, listening, along with His angels. I needed this today. Thank you... and thank you, Pete, I know you will help Him. Amen. Amen.

The award was given based on excellent water quality, beach conditions, safety services, public information, and habitat conservation. Most people access the beach near Hillsboro Blvd where the road takes you past The Cove shopping center, over the Intracoastal, and to the beach. The beach at Hillsboro Blvd. and Ocean Way can get crowded during peak times so I like to seek out what feels like this hidden public beach just north of the town of Hillsboro Beach. Deerfield Beachfront Park is at the end of SE 9th St where it meets A1A next to the Embassy Suites by Hilton. There is plenty of metered parking both in a lot on SE 9th St. and along A1A. The land for this park was acquired in 2003 by the Florida Communities Trust using Florida Forever Funds. As you approach the beach there is a large deck overlooking the sand. Next to it are a few picnic tables and benches. As the soft sand squishes under your feet you can hear the crashing waves as you feel the salty tang of the ocean breeze and the warm embrace of the sun on your skin. Off in the distance to the south is the Hillsboro Lighthouse while just north of you is the Deerfield Beach Pier. Rocky outcropping dot the beach in front of you. This beach is overseen by one of nine life guard towers in the city run by the Deerfield Beach Ocean Rescue Division which is certified by the United States Lifesaving Association. Lifeguards are present from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm 365 days a year. If you are looking for a relaxing day at the beach, this is the perfect spot to swim, sun bathe, and enjoy the vacation vibes.

You'd never know it was here -- right along the intracoastal waterway -- unless you lived in this neighborhood. It's not the easiest to find as it's set back amongst the expensive homes, boats, marinas, and winding streets of Lighthouse Point. But it's well worth a trip to find it. There's not that much man made entertainment here -- no bbq grills or tennis courts or basketball nets or swing sets. What it does have is natural beauty and spectacular water views. There's a paved path to the middle and around the edge as well as some sandy paths. There are several spaces to park your car just outside the fence. Inside the fence is a bike rack. To the left of the entrance is the butterfly garden. And yes, we did see some colorful orange butterflies when we went -- but they were too fast (or shy?) for pictures. There are flowers -- yellow ones (sorry I don't know their name) and a number of green ones planted to attract the flying beauties. To the right of the entrance is a lovely large white Jasmine flowering bush. Heavenly scented. Inside the park are wide green expanses under the trees and several tented pavilions where you can rest and read or just contemplate nature. There is a bat house on a tall pole -- the bats eat mosquitos and are encouraged to visit, but I doubt there's one in residence. There was an empty bird house high up on a tree, too. There is an exercise area with instructions telling you what to do. But no one was using it. There's a sandy area with many coconut palms (and coconuts on the ground) and sea grape bushes that lead right down along the water. You could even dip a toe in if you're adventurous -- or just pull up a towel and sun bathe. In any case, along the water you get to see all the sail and speed boats passing by. And hear a soft lap as the water meets the shore. Such a nice respite from the hubbub noise of civilization. It was a welcome quiet space to rest and relax -- to get away and enjoy Mother Nature. So, come here -- and make every day Earth Day!
