It is located between Fort Lauderdale & Pompano Beach, it features 2.5 miles of uncrowded beaches, a vibrant coral reef just 100 yards offshore, and a quaint, mid-century modern downtown anchored by Anglin's Pier which was destroyed years ago by a hurricane. There are many Safe metered parking lot nearby with several restaurants offering valet. Today there were planes & helicopters flying over head. The water was to warm, not refreshing. There are Adirondack chairs, shade, lifeguards, showers and chairs & umbrellas for rent.

It feels much more relaxed and less crowded than Fort Lauderdale Beach. Right across from the beach, the main strip along Commercial Blvd has a bunch of restaurants, bars, ice cream spots, and small local shops. It's very walkable and has that classic laid-back Florida beach town vibe. We loved just strolling around after the beach, grabbing food, and enjoying the atmosphere. If you want a quieter, charming beach area with plenty to do but without the chaos, this is definitely worth visiting.

You'd never know it was here -- right along the intracoastal waterway -- unless you lived in this neighborhood. It's not the easiest to find as it's set back amongst the expensive homes, boats, marinas, and winding streets of Lighthouse Point. But it's well worth a trip to find it. There's not that much man made entertainment here -- no bbq grills or tennis courts or basketball nets or swing sets. What it does have is natural beauty and spectacular water views. There's a paved path to the middle and around the edge as well as some sandy paths. There are several spaces to park your car just outside the fence. Inside the fence is a bike rack. To the left of the entrance is the butterfly garden. And yes, we did see some colorful orange butterflies when we went -- but they were too fast (or shy?) for pictures. There are flowers -- yellow ones (sorry I don't know their name) and a number of green ones planted to attract the flying beauties. To the right of the entrance is a lovely large white Jasmine flowering bush. Heavenly scented. Inside the park are wide green expanses under the trees and several tented pavilions where you can rest and read or just contemplate nature. There is a bat house on a tall pole -- the bats eat mosquitos and are encouraged to visit, but I doubt there's one in residence. There was an empty bird house high up on a tree, too. There is an exercise area with instructions telling you what to do. But no one was using it. There's a sandy area with many coconut palms (and coconuts on the ground) and sea grape bushes that lead right down along the water. You could even dip a toe in if you're adventurous -- or just pull up a towel and sun bathe. In any case, along the water you get to see all the sail and speed boats passing by. And hear a soft lap as the water meets the shore. Such a nice respite from the hubbub noise of civilization. It was a welcome quiet space to rest and relax -- to get away and enjoy Mother Nature. So, come here -- and make every day Earth Day!

There are some parts of the beach that are accessible by public access, while others are part of the beachfront condos in the area. This is a great place to spend some time relaxing, be morning, afternoon or evening....just breathtaking....

This beach does not allow dogs, as it is east of A1A. It's flanked on each side by nice beachfront property, either tall condo buildings or stately single family homes. There's a nice shower right before the sandy beach. You can catch public transportation if you take BCT buses 55 or 11, depending from where you are coming from.

Love the bike path that goes around the outside of City of Pompano Air park. It's just under 5…read moremiles around. Easy path, with lots of things to look at and keep your ride interesting. The maintenance crew mow the dog park grass and the surrounding lawn on Tuesdays, so they do close part of the path on most Tuesday. Otherwise it's a great place to ride , if you want to stay off the crazy roads.

As it is located directly across the Inlet from the Historic Hillsboro Lighthouse. terrific views very much appreciated by photographers and artists, But don't try swimming the Inlet itself, as. the tidal currents are 5 knots and dangerous. You may easily get swept out into the Ocean and that would not be good.

It's also a great place to walk around and unwind, whether you're being creative or just enjoying the scenery. The views are truly mesmerizing, and it feels like a quiet escape tucked away from the busier areas. I'll definitely be back with my sketchbook again.

Anglin's Square is the unofficial hub of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. This is the square located at the…read morevery end of Commercial, right where the road meets the ocean. There's a nice pavilion, Adirondack chairs, places to park and secure your bikes, bike share stations, pay lots, restaurants, cafes, shops, etc.... This square is used often for festivals, dance lesson events, and many other town gatherings. Usually you see many people just sitting and relaxing, enjoying the weather and the people-watching. Just a nice place to hang out.

Anglin, who purchased platted land to start a new beach town which became Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. In the 1920's Anglin served as the first constable and mayor of the new town. The nearby fishing pier is also named for him. In December of 2012 Anglins Square received a six million dollar make over that created a common area with chairs and umbrellas called Dunes Plaza. On the weekends you can find live music and different events throughout the year as people sip drinks and eat ice cream on the Adirondack chairs set out in the plaza. Enjoy the ocean breeze as you drink and dine at the 20 restaurants that line the plaza and El Mar Drive. This includes Mulligans Beach House, 101 Ocean, Taco Craft Taquiera, Station 44, Bar-BQ Beachside Grill, Vinnie's and Aruba's Beach Cafe. For dessert check out Kilwin's Ice Cream, Coco Yogurt, and 4D Gelateria. During the holidays Lauderdale-by-the-Sea uses Anglin Square to stage their Christmas tree. One of the best beaches in Broward County is only steps away. If you can't make it in person there are two web cams that let you monitor the action from wherever you are, one on the the square and one on Anglin's Pier. I often take out of town friends here to enjoy the beach and restaurants and they never fail to be impressed or come when you want to play tourist for the day. The only downside is parking can be a bit of hassle but that view makes it all worth it.
