My daughter had attended Hillsborough from 4 months old until just recently when she left to attend TK at her local school. We just got her first assessment from her TK Teacher (1 month into the school year) and she scored 103/105! Clearly the curriculum at Hillsborough prepared her very well for going to TK. We joined the Hillsborough family last April and it was the BEST DECISION we have ever made! The teachers and staff are so attentive and caring, Hudson absolutely loves going off to school every morning! Miss Sabrina was the most AMAZING teacher to start with, she got Hudson comfortable with his surroundings and taught him to be a good friend and a great helper! This school year Hudson has Miss Jazmin and he has learned soooo much already! I was worried about his speech / language development and all of the sudden he knows all his colors, he's counting to 10 and saying please and thank you. He's starting to speak in full sentences and learning more and more each day. Miss Carrie and Miss Tammy are extremely caring and always there for us! I absolutely love Hillsborough! My daughter is 2.5 years old and as soon as she started attending, I saw an immediate improvement in her speech. They have daily agendas/schedules that the teachers do every day. I love all the activities they do with all the kids. I appreciate that they update me on how her days went. They offer optional hot lunches for an additional charge, which has made my mornings easier and my daughter seems to be enjoying the variety. Hillsborough is such a light, bright, and wonderful school! The teachers and staff are always smiling and ready to greet the parents and the kids as they come in. We enrolled our son here and paid the $500 enrollment and his teacher was not patient or warm to him or us. After 2 days we decided to take him out and go to other much better schools in the area such as Amerimont. We talked to the owners about our concerns but they don't care and refused to refund our money after 2 days of being there. Amerimont allowed us to come and see if it was a good fit for our son for 2 weeks until we actually enrolled. My son was much happier at Amerimont as you can see from the owners down to staff they actually listen and care. read more

My son attended Hillsborough for one year and in that time we grew to love it. We all had trouble with this pivotal life step but it turned into one of the best things for him. Although we have since moved I think about Hillsborough often and about all the fun activities they provided for the kids, the cute little art projects that came home, and the events that were hosted for families. I truly agree on the comment " the school director is extremely rude and racist" whenever I dropped my son off, I never got greeted by the director! not even once! only the time when I toured this school, she was nice. Initially I thought her personality might be very introverted so I just let it go. But one day, I saw her walking a White kid and talking to the mother of the kid. and VERY NICE. Then I started thinking that she does not even consider me as a person at all because she always passed me like she did not see me at all. I WAS COMPLETELU INVISIBLE to her. The only sentence I could hear from her mouth every sing day, it was "STILL NO COVID at home" Even when I called to pull my son out, she only says "Okay and call back when Tammy is there" What kind of director is she??? she should not be at the school at all. I have two boys and a girl with one of them having development delays. Choosing a school was a very important investment for their long term growth and well being. I visited many schools and talked to a lot of parents in narrowing down our choices. When I stepped into Hillsborough it was better than I had envisioned. They have high ceilings and bright lighting. The building has an open concept and was the right environment to foster creativity and development. Since enrolling my two boys I couldn't be any happier. They have received unconditional love from the entire staff. There is a good balance of academics with play. There are options for extracurriculars. This has a feel of a small intimate school, and it's run very well like a fortune 500 company. The director Ms. Brittany is responsive, mature, and very collaborative. The front staff which includes Ms. Tammy are extremely friendly. I highly recommend Hillsborough!!! read more

I'll be honest... our first day wasn't the best. But, I am so glad I gave this school a chance. Miss Tami is amazing! She is so knowledgeable and helpful. The Director, Miss Carrie is great! And, my girl fell in love with Ms. Aida. She's strict but she is great! She's teaching them independence early. I will miss my girl attending this school. I love the structure. I was a little worried about placing my 2 year old In day care/preschool but he's loved it and is starting to learn so much.

My kid has been going to HPS since she was 3 years old (now she is 5). Ms. Brittany, Ms. Tammy and all the teachers we've been together are so great. The school never changed the teachers during the academic period and makes very good communication with parents. Their programs are academic and fun with so many events. We attended summer school this year and it was so much fun with water activities, storytimes, and pictures with ponies. The facility is big and clean, besides they open early in the morning, so we were able to drop off my kid early when needed. My kid was very shy when she started there, but now she is so much active and confident. We're going to leave the school for Kindergarten but I appreciate for the good teaching and keep my kid safe for the last 16 months. read more

We have sent both our children to Hillsborough for pre-K and pre-school/day care. The teachers are wonderful the staff is wonderful, and have always kept us in the loop for any changes or concerns. The kids love it there, and it will be missed as they go on to Kindergarten and beyond. We had our fair share of places we tried prior to Hillsborough, and is one of the best decisions we have made for our children. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Hillsborough! I recommend them to anyone looking for infant care or preschool services. Where to begin? Hillsborough focuses on enrichment and instilling a love of learning in kids. Their curriculum is half educational and half student-lead learning and creative play. I LOVE this about them because my son is interested in learning new things and he gets excited about going to school each day. He started going the day he turned 2, because at the time, it was the youngest-aged kids they would take. They potty trained him by 2.5, and he will be starting their rigorous pre-k program in the fall where he will learn basic math and reading skills. His teachers have been lovely and we consider them part of our extended family (shout out to Miss Emily and Miss Britney!). The most amazing thing about Hillsborough, however, is their attentive care. They started a new infant toddler program just in time for kid #2, and she has thrived there. The staff also works with her special needs services, and they incorporate the suggestions that her therapist gives them to help speed up her gains. I don't think this type of commitment and care could be found elsewhere. And to top it off, Hillsborough is very reasonably priced and rarely has a long waitlist! I highly encourage you to check them out and make them a part of your extended family. read more

My two year old daughter started at Hillsborough in April 2014. Up to that point, she had been at home with me. However, I needed to send her to school as I just had twins. I knew she would have a hard time adjusting to the new environment, especially with all the transition and new developments in her life. The first week was rough. She cried every time I dropped her off. And she cried ALL DAY. My daughter has always been strong-willed, and this was no different. There is no worse feeling as a mom than dropping your screaming, wailing child off at preschool. Miss Patty, Miss Tammy, Miss Brittany and Miss Selina all worked with us to ensure that she would get the hang of it. Everyday they encouraged both me and my daughter that all would be okay. They were right! We are now 7 months in and my daughter absolutely loves going to school. We have seen her coordination and social skills improve. Everyday she brings home a craft she'd made in the classroom. They provide the perfect mix of academics and play. The teachers genuinely care. They know each child individually and really take time to cultivate each child's personality and make them feel welcome. The school is very good about communicating with parents. They have frequent family activities, class parties etc. They also provide an almost monthly "Parents Night Out" (usually on a Friday night), where they watch your child for an evening, so mom and dad can have a date night. If you are looking for a place for your child, look no further. I am so happy I found this school. My twins will be attending Hillsborough as soon as they are old enough. read more

It's taken a few months to get up the courage to share my experience with entering my child into this school. Being quite different than the other reviews, our experience was very much the opposite of five stars. As a parent it's hard to entrust anyone to watch your child and the decision to enter ours into Hillsborough was our first schooling experience, we were very hopeful. We started noticing a pattern picking up our child with food still remaining on his face and boogers crusted to his nose. My sweetheart brought up concern and for some time it made a difference. But our child was constantly sick and by constantly I mean every other week I was out of work. Then one day we noticed our child's shoes were put on backwards when picking up. That night I messaged his teacher as to why his shoes were backwards and how long was he walking so uncomfortably? We addressed this and once again it changed for a time. Though concerned we were still willing to give them a shot. Then the worst thing a parent could imagine happened. Picking up our child I noticed he was stinky. When checking him I realized it was NOT a poopy diaper but there was poop all up in his back and inside his shirt. In what world is this ACCEPTABLE. When I brought this up to the teacher she stated she had just changed him. I was livid. My child became very sick after this and as soon as he recovered he did not return. This pattern of picking up my child dirty from his day and not knowing for how long he was like this was unacceptable. Nothing about allowing a toddler roam around smelling like poop and playing with their feces on their skin is okay. I am still very upset. SANITATION is so important as we are currently learning in this pandemic and I cannot express the importance enough especially for a toddler. This needs to be better. As a parent it is important that reviews are made so that things are made aware of and paid attention too. read more

Love the staff, love the school! My daughter did a few months of preschool (due to COVID we kept her home for the remainder of the school year). She went back for summer school, and just started her second year of preschool. She was painfully shy (which is why we enrolled her) and she has come out of her shell so much! She's always talking about all her friends and her teachers and how much she loves everyone. It makes us so happy that she's learning, but most importantly, shes just so much more confident, comfortable and loving every minute. We were definitely hesitant sending her back at all with COVID, but so glad we did. All the staff wear masks, class sizes are reduced and everything is cleaned regularly. My daughter has only been here for a couple months in their toddler program. When your child gets excited to go to school every day and doesn't want to leave at the end of the day, there's not much else to say. The place is bright, clean, safe (there's always someone sitting at the front), and they do tons of activities. They're fully staffed and your kid is looked after. Our daughter was cared for at home for the first two years of her life and did not like going to daycare (different one).. It was a total shock, she cried every morning at drop offs for the 6-7 months she attended. She was happy to be at Hillsborough from day 1. No problems with drop offs any longer. My 9 year old daughter went through of the hardest years of her life in 2014. Her dad passed away on Christmas day 2013 and Hillsborough accepted her into school in April of 2014 as i could not continue to homeschool. Our experience has been from beyond a 5 star. My son started attending preschool from April of 2013 and still attending. The staff here truly cares about each kid and the environment is so friendly and loving. I visited and compared several schools in the area before deciding on Hillsborough. Few reasons I chose this school was (1) the preschool director, Miss Patty is so friendly and kind. (2) the front administrator Miss Tammy is so attentive to all the children and people going in and out. She answered or directed my question to be answered in a timely manner. And I loved all the preschool teachers - they were strict when they needed to be but still very caring and friendly. Overall, we are very happy we sent our son here. This school has been nothing short of a miracle for our child. The staff are amazing and it truly shows threw my child. Before being enrolled at this school my son was a bit behind and hated school because none of his teachers at other schools could teach him in a way that he understood. When my son was enrolled into miss Shirley class we were a bit skeptical but she changed my son for the better. He can now initiate conversations on his own, he has an amazing vocabulary and he loves learning. I will forever be grateful to Miss Shirley for what an amazing job she has done with my child. Miss Tami and miss Brittany are amazing. Their people skills are out of this world! They know what to say to make you happy and comfortable. If Something Happens they always have the answers before I even ask. My son comes home daily talking about how wonderful miss Katie is. He tells me he loves miss Katie because she will play with him when his friends don't want to. He tells me miss Katie won't let him be sad. My child has recently started their kindergarten program and so far I'm in love with the class and the knowledge my son comes home with! I love how well thought of miss Ashley has her weekly topic and how the homework is easy to understand and matches the topic. Miss Ashley and miss Yuvette send out weekly updates about the class. They have p.e, Spanish, Science. My son is learning a lot and gets so excited when he or his friends listen and follow the rules so they "clip up to green (or superstar) this is the best preschool. The children all learn self discipline and community participation while experiencing a strong academic program designed to provide the students a solid education.
