My son and daughter have attended Peacocks for about two years now. We love this pre-school because of the teachers and the amount of outdoor playtime our kids get. The classrooms are always clean and well maintained and our kids get to learn through play and activities. We receive daily reports with pictures and stories of what our kids did that day. My daughter has attended this school for little over a year and she has absolutely excelled. She previously attended a Montessori school and she enjoys this school better. She's loved her teachers and friends. She enjoys the Reggio style and she can be herself. We continue to enjoy the school environment and recommend anyone interested in sending their kids to a learning center. I have not had any issues or witnessed anything that would endanger my child so that's a plus. They have swimming classes as well at a reasonable price and my daughter got a lot of confidence in last year's session. One of my favorite things is the Daily diary I receive explaining what the kids learned or were intrigued about. Pictures of kids with smiles or inquisitive looks are precious. My son came to Peacocks during April '24. At the time we had to change daycare for him because his previous school was basically forcing us out saying that he was too much for the teachers to handle. My son is on the spectrum and he is pretty energetic, those things combine makes it pretty difficult to find a suitable place for him because he's not the easiest kid to take care of. Many schools didn't have full time opening when I was looking, so I was relieved that Peacocks had an opening at the time. The classrooms at Peacocks are beautiful, so different from a traditional daycare. The rooms are big and kids have the opportunity to explore different classrooms sometimes. The teachers and director are so nice and caring! I haven't noticed a high turnover rate like my son's previous daycare had. I really appreciate how patient the teachers are with my son. He has grown so much in the last 6 months at Peacocks! At his previous daycare I see him playing by himself a lot when I pick him up, now I see him playing with other kids or reading with a teacher when I go get him. I do wish the school also provides lunch so I don't have to pack lunch everyday, but it's a small inconvenience knowing he's going to a school where the staff truly care about their kids. read more

My son has attended peacocks from 2 - 4 years old. This preschool is MAGICAL. Tons of outdoor play, the teachers adjust the classrooms daily to meet kids' interest while still ensuring that the kids' meet early childhood learning needs. My son has absolutely thrived there socially, emotionally, and cognitively (he has developed phonetic awareness, knows his numbers colors and shapes, knows his ABCs, fine/gross motor skills like playing with clay and drawing, can write his name and mom and dad, and has even learned some addition and subtraction!). I can't say enough good things about this place. It's clean, gorgeous playground, gorgeous classroom equipment (all super organic, minimal plastics. loose parts). Some people have been disappointed by high turnover. That's pretty common in most places and all the teachers that are hired are super thoughtful. Miss Celida is the current site supervisor and she gets to know all the kids and families and their needs. read more

The purpose of my review is not to influence others against what the other parents have shared but a recommendation for parents to do their due diligence when searching for a preschool that fits in your child's and family's needs. Our experience with peacocks preschool have been amazing with the past and current directors and teachers. The former directors and teachers were amazing and so are the current ones. My daughter is extremely happy attending and thanks to all her wonderful teachers, she's thriving into an independent and strong child. My little one has been at Peacocks for over one and a half years now. We've experienced both the old and new management teams, as well as the "transition period" during the change. Before deciding to enroll my kid at Peacocks, I visited several preschools. Many aspects attracted me to Peacocks: spacious classrooms with a clean and simple design, a large outdoor playground, an educational philosophy of learning through play while being close to nature, extended operating hours from 6:30 AM to 6 PM without extra fees, and, of course, the five-star reviews on Yelp. The team led by Ms. Chelsea (the previous director) was indeed admirable--every teacher was responsible, loving, experienced, and knew each child well. When Ms. Chelsea left, followed by other teachers, I felt concerned. Fortunately, my little one didn't show much anxiety, so we decided to stay and give it a try, especially since the school still had many attractive features that were hard to match in terms of value for money. When the new director, Ms. Khannia, took over, the school received several warnings from the city. However, the school shared the warning letters with parents, and I felt it was unfair to blame Ms. Khannia entirely. These issues arose immediately after her appointment, and some, like the student ratio problem, had existed before. Many schools face similar challenges due to high labor costs and fluctuating attendance rates. The facility-related warnings seemed like a matter of timing rather than her fault. My main concern remained whether my kid could continue to receive quality care and education and if the value for money persisted. Seven months have passed, and except for Ms. Khannia, all the staff members have been replaced by new faces. However, the new teachers haven't disappointed me--they are all passionate, loving, responsible, and diligent. They may not be as experienced as the previous teachers, but they bring new perspectives. Whether it's the director or the teachers, everyone has their own approach, and it's hard to make an objective comparison. My kid likes both the previous teachers (Ms. Cintia, Ms. Nina, Ms. Ariel, Ms. Michelle, Ms. Cherry, etc.) and the new teachers (Ms. Nancy, Ms. Karina, Ms. Adriana, Ms. Marisa, Ms. Celina, Ms. Clarissa, etc.). I had effective communication with the previous director, Ms. Chelsea, and have never had any communication issues with Ms. Khannia either. Although the tuition has increased, seeing the cost of everything else around us skyrocketing--from car insurance rates increasing by 20%-30% to mandatory 18%-20% tips at restaurants--I think the tuition increase is "within expectations and still reasonable" for me. Ms. Khannia has introduced many activities and events that weren't available before, such as free Spanish immersion, small yoga classes, physical exercises, small concerts, as well as optional paid activities like swimming and soccer. As a parent, I now have more choices to enrich my kid's life. The school also sends a monthly newsletter to inform parents of upcoming events. In the event of an earthquake, the school immediately informs parents and ensures that each child is prepared with an emergency kit, demonstrating thorough preparedness. Additionally, every 2-3 months, a parent-teacher conference is scheduled, where parents are allowed to bring their kids (which saves me from having to arrange a babysitter just for the meeting). The content prepared for these conferences allows parents and children to participate together and experience the school's educational philosophy firsthand. I get the chance to learn about the teachers' backgrounds, meet my little one's "best friends" and their parents, and communicate with both teachers and other parents. This provides another opportunity, beyond observing my kid's mood after school, to understand her life and learning experience at school. I have been truly impressed with these changes. Moreover, I can see the growth in my little one after a day at school--she's learned so much about life that I hadn't even thought of, her language and expression skills have significantly improved, and she still expresses joy about attending school. She often talks about her school and wants to bring new things to show her teachers. After school, she still happily hugs her teachers and runs into Ms. Khannia's office to give her a hug before leaving, even if no one is there, saying "Bye Ms. Khannia~" to the air. As adults, we may wear many different masks to face different situations, but for kids, they like something or they don't--there's no pretending. Therefore, I trust my little one's feelings--she truly loves this school and her teachers, whether it is the previous team or the current one. Thus, a year and a half ago, when my kid had just started at Peacocks for less than a month, I highly recommended it to my friends. My daughter began attending Peacocks in Fall of 2022. It is my understanding that the current owners took over the facility sometime before then, but it seems like it was relatively recent. At the time, the Director had been there for over 20 years and was continuing to run the school under the new owners, who seem to live primarily in New Zealand, but part-time in the onsite apartment (more on that later!). Some of the things we initially loved about Peacocks were the Director, who was approachable, responsive, and flexible; the teachers, many of whom had been there for over a decade and truly cared for the children; and the curriculum, which allowed for plenty of unstructured time outdoors. However, in early 2024, all this began to change with the abrupt departure of the Director and the promotion of one of the newer (maybe there around a year?) teachers. Almost immediately there were several issues in the forms of infractions from the State of CA due to some of the classes being outside of ratio when a surprise site visit was conducted. This happened twice, along with a couple citations related to safety issues on the campus, including an issue related to the efficacy pool gate. At one point, there was a poster-sized board with all the site visits, citations, etc. documentation displayed and there were so many documents that they were actually taped around the edges of the frame because they did not all fit on one board. Around the same time, the longtime teachers began to leave and/or be dismissed abruptly without any type of announcement. Several of these teachers had been with the school for years, were members of the community, and were truly beloved by the students. In less than a week, my daughter lost both of her teachers, which was never discussed with the students. This was obviously very upsetting to the students and concerning for the parents who were already concerned about the reports of the classrooms being outside of ratio. It was also a huge difference in the drop-off experience. We went from having teachers who welcomed my daughter with open arms to teachers who I would sometimes walk in on sitting and looking at their phones at drop-off. When I expressed my concerns to the Director and owners about the safety ramifications of having so much turnover so quickly, I did not receive a response. At one point, the Director did tell me in-person she was planning on responding to my email. A couple other issues arose around this time. For one, the daily schedule was updated with a decrease in time spent outdoors. It was also brought to our attention that the apartment attached to the preschool was posted for rent online, which we felt was a safety concern. Upon my daughter's departure from the school, nearly all of her original classmates had left the school due to the concerns of their parents. Neither, the Director, nor the owners, seem to care what parents think. All in all, I would not recommend Peacocks without a change in Director and ownership, or at least a visit to the CA Department of Social Services website where you can view the citations for yourself. read more

They have some teachers there now that are mean to the kids and yell at them. State has come out multiple times for pit of ratio. The new director used to be a teacher there and couldn't take criticism and was so fake to the parents. My oldest daughter has attended Peacocks for the past two years. We just enrolled my middle daughter about nine months ago. We started this school at the beginning of a transition with new owners. And honestly at first everything was perfect. We enjoyed the schools philosophy and their emphasis on allowing kids to learn through exploring their surroundings and hands-on experience. I also enjoyed that the kiddos spent so much time outside and not in a classroom all day. I also really did like their philosophy of not forcing kids to have such an emphasis on educational matters at such a young age. The owners are from New Zealand and follow a Reggio approach to learning. The Director, who worked there for I believe over 25 years was absolutely incredible, and did such an amazing job of balancing families wants and desires for their kiddos with what the owners were asking her to do. However, while I don't know exactly what happened, I assume that the Director was pushed out and resigned about a month ago. Since then our experience has drastically changed for the worse. There are multiple things that are now being implemented or changed that according to the owners should have been being done all along, to which they are blaming on the past Director. I find this to be problematic in and of itself the fact that they had poor management skills and we're running a business from another country and not more hands-on should not be blamed on someone else. And again I should state that while I did absolutely adore the past director I have no personal relationship with her, and no reason to side with her. These changes that they are implementing are not only frustrating for me as a parent, but frustrating for my children, because the changes are happening so rapidly. Furthermore, my experiences in communication with the owners is absolutely horrific. I cannot fathom how a place who is interested with the care of our children is being run by these people. I'm no saint. I become overly frustrated with them multiple times, but again that is because of the way, they're choosing to run a business in which I am trusting the care of my children. We have pulled our children out, and they will no longer be attending, which makes me utterly sad as I do truly adore every single teacher who works there. read more

Sent my daughters here for school and they absolutely love it. They love the nature vibes of the school overall. All of the new teachers take such good care of them and every day when they come home they can't stop talking about all the fun activities they do. I'm so glad they hired Khannia she has made the school environment much safer than the previous director. The director is a minion who just does what she's told even if it means pissing off all the teachers and parents. My son attended this school for almost a year. Let me start by saying that his teachers were absolutely THE BEST. If it weren't for them, we wouldn't have stayed as long as we did after the change. At first, with the old director, we loved it there and so did he. Once the new director took over, this place went downhill FAST. She hasn't been in the position for long, but wow things just kept changing. I was drawn to the school because of the outside area and the amount of time the kids got outside. When the director changed, the time outside was cut down SIGNIFICANTLY. My son has allergies to foods and I saw the menu for the month and one of the foods he is allergic to was on the menu. I called immediately and thank goodness I did because the director said "oh I didn't know he was allergic" - UH WHAT?! Yes she apologized but there should have been no question that she would even offer it to him. The last straw for my husband and I was when we asked about cleaning because we kept getting notes about illnesses going around. I emailed the new director and asked if/when they had a cleaning crew. She said every day of the week they have people come in. I then asked my son's teachers and they said that they come like twice a week just to do the floors and the other times that the teachers are the ones cleaning. I would have been fine with the answer but I don't take lying lightly. Please be careful when choosing this school for your child! They have had 3 write-up's in the past month from the state licensing board!! Please review those before choosing this place. read more

We love Peacocks! My oldest one went and now my middle is there. We plan to enroll the youngest when she's old enough. The teachers are great. Real honest, don't put up with a bunch of attitude from the kids. They obviously care for kids and are always engaged. My oldest really loves to learn and explore and this school really helped with that. He was so excited to tell me about what he learned. I know they treated him well because he still talks about the teachers. If you ask my daughter who she played with she always says her teacher. I like this place because there's not a lot of fluff. They have a great playground and the staff is no nonsense. I hated showing up to pick up my kid and he was watching another movie. Peacocks is a great preschool! We started coming here when it was stiill California Preschool in 2018. Then our second son started in 2021. A few of teachers and staff have been here for 10 years or more. Everyone is loving and gentle with the kids. The daily diaries for the parents are great. I wish there was an option to put no stars. This place is horrible and definitely not a good place to send your kids. My kids went there when it was California Pre-School and also when it was bought by the new owners. At first I really liked the place when all the same teachers and director were there until a few months ago when the old director left. Mrs. Chelsea, Ms Cintia and Ms Cheryl were the only reasons I left my children enrolled in this school because they were very nurturing to my children and had great communication with us parents unlike the new director Ms. Khannia. Once she became director everything went downhill really fast. The new director Ms. Khannia is not friendly at all and doesn't communicate with the teachers or us parents about anything. She treats the teachers really bad and is not professional whatsoever. I can't imagine how she is with the kids as my children did not have her as a teacher. Most of the teachers that were there with California Pre-School have either left because of the toxic environment or been let go with no reasoning. The new director didn't let us know that teachers were leaving and new teachers were being hired. As a parent, it's important for us to know when teachers are being hired so we aren't leaving our kids with some strangers. The new director for some reason doesn't know how to communicate to anybody and honestly shouldn't be working with kids if communicating is hard for her. Ms. Khannia is super fake. I heard from other parents that she got confronted by them about state, but also about her actions towards parents and the children. She then started crying and everyone knew it was a show. She sits with the door closed to the office, not friendly with us parents or the children. She doesn't seem to care about the children or the parents. I also saw that the owners were renting out the basement of the house on Zillow. I , as a parent, did not feel comfortable sending my kids to school with strangers at the same facility. This is not the place to send your kids, there are better Reggio preschools that will actually take care of your kids and treat them and the teachers the right way. 100% do not recommend this horrible place!! read more

Do not enroll your child in this school. Run far away! The owner is from another country and has no idea how to run a school in the US. The original director that stayed on with this company during the change of ownership has left a few months ago due to the toxic work environment and lack of support from the owner. She was the glue that held this school together during the change of ownership and we as parents loved and adored her. The new director used to be a toxic teacher that should not be working with children. As a director now, she is still creating a toxic work place for the remaining staff, and the existing families are pulling. I am not sure why she is even still there. They must be paying her a lot of money to keep her on because she's not a strong person and should have left by now with all the parents not liking her. I have taken my child out of this school and would highly recommend anyone considering this place to look elsewhere. The numerous state visits in the last couple months are insane. Teachers are leaving and they are letting go of teachers that have worked there for years. My child wasn't even happy going to school anymore. The owner is trying to keep everything secretive and trying to keep the families that are still there in the dark on what's going on. Parents, please be aware. What looks nice on the outside is not what it is on the inside. Our children's health and safety need to come first and this place is not the school for that. read more

We absolutely LOVE Peacocks Preschool. Our daughter has been there for full-time daycare since she was 2 (now 4). The kids are encouraged to explore and be creative. The activities they do are so cute! My daughter is now a master at creative play and plays really well with other kids. All of the teachers know all of the kids, and everyone is very relaxed and happy when we drop her off & pick her up. Ms. Cintia was incredibly helpful with potty-training (I give her all the credit), and Ms. Cheryl has always been so sweet and loving with my daughter too. Ms. Chelsea is quick to respond and great at communicating what parents need to know. I am literally counting down the months to when I can take my infant son out of his current daycare and move him to Peacocks when he turns 2. I recommend Peacocks to anyone looking for a happy, easy-going place to send your child for daycare or preschool. read more
