I read from other people how the service here is not very good. That was the case when we visited. The guy working behind the counter clearly couldn't be bothered to help us. He said hello when we walked in but when it came to ordering the donuts, he just stood at the register and barely acknowledged us. We were trying to tell him what we wanted and he just kept nodding his head. When it came time for him to get the donuts, he had completely forgotten what we asked for... we only asked for three donuts. We got a regular glazed donut, a maple bar and a cinnamon roll. He just threw the donuts in the paper bag and when we got home, about 80% of the maple glaze was stuck to the bag and came off the maple bar. Whatever they use to make donuts, it's more like cake than a light, fluffy donut. One bite of the glaze and maple bar and we threw them out. The cinnamon roll was more like what I was expecting from a donut. The problem... no cinnamon or VERY little of it. The cinnamon roll was pretty light and fluffy but just really no cinnamon. I think like many in the local area, we have been anticipating the opening of this store only to be hugely disappointed. They are currently selling the limited edition cup of the cumbia queen. On Etsy the cup sells for about $20 and eBay for $14.99. At Stripes, the same collectible cup costs $3.99+tax. The store is a treasure trove of snacks, beverages, and well, stuff. I enjoyed just browsing around. For those of you who've never heard of Stripes, it's a chain of convenience stores located in Texas and Louisiana.
