They are truly exceptional -- a group of caring, attentive professionals who make every patient feel seen and supported. The doctor comes out during each visit to check in, always with genuine interest and concern, and when I first began, he took the time to complete a full, thoughtful consultation that set the tone for excellent care. The office itself is spotless. The team is consistently cleaning throughout the day during my visits, and they somehow manage to know every patient by name -- a small detail that makes a big difference in how welcoming the space feels. Making appointments is incredibly easy as well. The young lady at the front desk (I regret forgetting her name) is always smiling, helpful, and willing to take the time to plan out visits in a way that fits both my schedule and the office hours. While they don't use text or phone reminders, she reliably gives me a reminder card each time, which has been just as effective. Shannon, who works closely with the doctor and patients, is especially wonderful -- helpful, upbeat, and an impressive multitasker who keeps everything running smoothly. And as a bonus, the free parking in the back makes the entire experience even more convenient. But if you're dealing with a real or serious condition, don't expect much. They don't actually address the problem - it feels like they're just there to bill your insurance and make it look like they're doing something. Don't waste your time. My physician gave me a referral for lower back pain and recommended Hillside. I have been a patient here for the last few weeks and it has been very helpful to me. Dr. Minassian is involved as needed and has been there every time I've been there. Patricia, Carlos and Ryan are great and it's amazing how they stay on top of each patient and their exercises and treatment all the while being caring and respectful about each person's body and capabilities The first time I went, there were lots of modern elders, like myself, but since then I've seen some children, people in their 20s, 30s and beyond. I cannot recommend Hillside PT highly enough. I am so happy to find PT with caring and knowledgeable therapists that is closer to my house than Pasadena, where I previously had to go. Drs Allen and Eric helped me with my shoulder AND they helped my daughter who just had ACL surgery and needed to continue PT while home from college over Christmas break. She could only see them four times but I am so grateful that she was able to make such strides during that time. They are very, very thorough and genuinely care about your progress. My poor daughter has been through a lot and was very frustrated with her recovery prior to going to Hillside because she had to lose a week of PT during the holidays. At her 1st appt, Dr Allen was so understanding and really cheered her up. She was so relieved & happy after every session because she could see that she was finally making progress! I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am. It's not a huge place, but that kind of works for it. There is almost always space to park right in front and a parking lot in the back. I really love how they set up the therapy area to make room for multiple patients - I never felt cramped while treating. The check in area next to the front door is a little awkward when too many people are coming in at once while people are at the desk at the same time - but they check you in very quickly. You don't have to wait long so they obviously think about the treatment space first and foremost - as they should! I really hope my family and I can avoid more injuries for the foreseeable future... But if the inevitable happens... I know exactly where to go. I don't have to worry about that anymore!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! read more

I was referred to Hillside because of pain in my shoulder. After about two months of therapy, once a week, the pain has subsided considerably. Two issues here. 1. Went here for PT post ankle reconstruction. Received a call from Hillside one day in the middle of my treatment series telling me that I missed my appointment and that I'm going to be charged for no-show. I did not have an appointment on the day that they said I did. I had the appointment card in my possession that was written out by his front office person and it was for a different day than what she was claiming I missed. Asked her if she wanted a picture, she said yes, and I sent it to her. Showed up for my next appointment and she asked me to pay for the appointment I missed. I told her I will not pay for an appointment that I never made. Reiterated that I did not miss an appointment and presented the actual appointment card that she wrote and gave to me when she checked me out from my last appointment. She continued arguing with me saying that I was wrong that I still need to pay and we went around and around and the owner, Dr. Allen Minassian was there treating another patient and It's a very small place so he and everyone in the room heard the entire conversation. Dr. Minassian neither said nor did anything to alleviate the argument that was going on in his place of business. I looked over to him and waved asking him to help me out over here. I showed him evidence and she continued to argue, but clearly she is in the wrong and I ultimately did not have to pay for the appointment that I never had. 2. Was at Hillside for an appointment and realize my six month pregnant daughter also had an appointment close to the time of mine so we agreed to go to lunch after. My daughter's appointment time came and she hadn't shown up yet so I called her. She was coming from the valley on the 118 east and explained that she experienced a blind spot in her vision and pulled over at Wheatland and called her husband. (She was admitted to the hospital on stroke protocol, baby and mom are fine.) I informed Dr. Minassian that my daughter will not be able to make her appointment today because she experienced blind spots while driving here and had to pull over and be taken to the hospital. Upon leaving, I asked Dr. Minassian, are you going charge my daughter for this missed appointment? He said, I will have to look into it. I said goodbye and never returned there, neither did my daughter. Dr. Moss does not care about people, he is so coldhearted. All he cares about is money. All of the other physical therapists in the area were booked for two months, but I was able to get an appointment sooner than that at Hillside Physical Therapy. Upon arrival I was impressed with how clean and efficient they are. Dr. Allen Minassian gave me a thorough examination and an exercise plan. He spent nearly 3 hours with me! Over the last 20 years, I have been to various offices who claim to do Physical Therapy. They were just collecting the bucks and wasting my time. I have a service animal and was told that I could not be treated if I had my service animal with me. Mind you, he was tethered to my specific treatment table. At no point did the Dr. Minassian ask me if my dog was medically necessary. At no point did he ask what services my dog provides. He simply said that I would have to schedule for a time when I could come without him OR that I would have to come with someone else who could hold the dog in the seating area while I am treated, which is a clear violation of the ADA. The Dr. told me that "Anyone can get a service dog. They just have to go online and print a certificate," which is a complete dismissal of the years of training it often takes for service animals to learn how to provide services to their handlers. If he did this to me, he will do this to others with service animals, and that type of action is discriminatory toward patients with disabilities. read more

I cannot say enough positive things about my experience at Hillside Physical Therapy & Dr Allen Minassian! I am recovering from a medial meniscus surgery and was looking for an aggressive physical therapist. I was recommended to another PT location in La Canada by my chiropractor. After not hearing back from that location for a week- I sought out a reliable therapist. Luckily for me the first place was unreliable because it led me to find Hillside PT and Allen. From my first session through my 12th, Dr Minassian (Allen) was thorough, professional, polite and most importantly tough!!!! He pushed me to my limits to ensure I could get back to my active life of running, lifting heavy weights and being a dad to 3 kids. I wanted aggressive and I found it! I wanted professional and I got it. And best of all, you receive 100% individual attention from the licensed therapist! Allen runs a small business and focuses 100% attention on each of his clients. Unfortunately this is my 2nd meniscus surgery and I have also recovered from 4 rotator cuff surgeries so I have spent plenty of time in different physical therapist locations. My experience at Hillside is the first time I was treated solely by the licensed therapist. I feel that is a testament to how Dr Minassian feels towards the health and recovery of all his patients! Not to mention, you will NEVER wait to start your session. The time of your appointment is the time you start! I hate doctors offices that make an appt with you, just to make you wait 30minutes or longer for treatment. To me, even 5 minutes is rude. Combined through 12 sessions, I never waited even a minute to start. Allen gave me a band to continue my exercises at home. He also helped me to transform my gym workouts to help preserve my back. Dr. Minassian and the team at Hillside PT have been nothing short of exceptional in the money-hungry world of healthcare. Most PTs assess clients for a few minutes, skim over the MRI/imaging, jump to some conclusion, and recommend the same cookie cutter exercise plan (same one they give to everyone) for you to do on your own at home. With Dr. Minassian, he took the time to evaluate AND understand my goals, habits, and daily life. With all of this in consideration, he effectively crafted an exercise program for at-home and in-house when I would come for appointments. He really made me work - but I felt amazing after! Dr. Minassian constantly challenged me and monitored my progress and mistakes in order to really get the most out of our sessions. Where do I even begin? I've had neck pain for ten years now and every year I ask my primary doctor to refer me to a PT and I get temporary relief and the pain comes back again. I was a patient here for about 10 weeks for neck issues. I never really started feeling better but kept going though the motions hoping that overtime it would get better. One week I had to move my appt back because my sons doctor appt got moved. I was told I was ok to switch it and come later in the day. When I got there I was told the first part of my treatment was cut. I said that I was in a lot of pain and needed it. I didn't want to jump straight into the exercises without the heating treatment. Ouch! The doctor was dismissive and said that because I moved my appointment they didn't have time for my full treatment that day. Something I'd wish they'd told me on the phone so I could have moved it to another day. I was shocked when he gave me attitude and didn't even examine me to see why I was in pain. I think he checked on my progress once in the 10 weeks I was there. I understand not doing it every time but maybe once every few weeks to check if his his program was working would have been nice. He also told me that I had stayed longer than my "allotted time" when I'd been going through the exercises and fast as I could. Often times they were overbooked and not able to give the help needed to go through the exercises. In my time there I felt like it was more about taking your money and pushing you through the motions than caring if I was making any real progress and getting better. I spent hundreds of dollars in copays there and I'm in as much pain as I was when I started. Hopefully the doctor I see cares about if their patients feel better and not just about taking money. read more
