I developed acute pain from TMJ injury. I've heard the clicking for years and never had any pain till one day I yawned SO BIG, I thought my jaw wasn't going to click back. Thank goodness my daughter recommended this place. Not many places specialize in TMJ therapy, but thank goodness for Dr. Ko. Very professional. Hands on care excellent. Instructions are easy to follow and understand. Thank goodness he has a pillow to place underneath my knees which helped lessen any lower back pain. The majority of the staff I liked. Nice sitting area while you wait. Many treatment rooms which are also very nice and clean. Parking is usually $6 if you get out on time. There's also metered parking if you choose not to park in the building. They take Anthem insurance. After paying my deductible, each treatment was $15 each afterwards. Well worth it. read more

I have had several PT prescriptions for different issues over the years and each time. I return to Dr. Ko. He's like a detective searching for clues for root causes then treats it accordingly. For example. when my podiatrist said there was nothing wrong with my foot, Dr. Ko found issue and treated it. The office staff is friendly and welcoming making each visit a pleasant experience. Located on the 3rd floor of an office building in downtown Glendale, Joseph S. Luk Physical Therapy is an inviting office with a very friendly, helpful staff. Insurance and billing are handled with minimal fuss, and everyone is extremely nice. While recovering from bunion surgery, I was extremely lucky to work with Dr. Ani, who is an absolute pro (and a lot of fun). Her prescribed exercises got me walking again, her guidance filled in the gaps in my surgeon's instructions, and her care on the would itself helped it to heal with very little scarring. I had a great experience at Luk Physical Therapy dealing with some acute knee pain that I developed from running and biking. Dr Ani was great at understanding what my particular issues were and providing different types of treatments from stretches to cupping to releasing fascia. She provided exercises for me to do at home and adjustments to my work environment to help long term that have really helped get me back to normal. Tape ! With nearly a lifetime of abuse to my body and, after visiting the multitude of Dr.'s, instructors, Therapists, acupuncturists, and a voodoo priestess or two ( that's another story ) , I must shout " Tape " you can't live without it !! The power of tape is incredible!!! First, after a thoroughly comprehensive interview with Dr. Ani Khachatoorians, PT, DPT. She was able to diagnose a few issues and determined where and how we should begin to " Fix " me. ( I'll attempt to be clear ) It appears that my outer muscles are causing my inner muscles to behave badly thereby causing pain, dizziness and fatigue . TAPE!! 30 mins after the application ( see photo ) The muscles started to respond correctly, The nerves stopped sending random messages of pain due to misaligned skeletal and muscular structures, and the feeling of spaciness floated away. The bottom line is this, I am in good hands, I trust those hands and the person to whom they belong. I trust the office, the staff and the incredible attention to detail, cleanliness and safety. I suffered a bad break and dislocation in my right ankle about 25 years ago. For a long time, it was okay, but as I got into my 40s, arthritis really started to set in. It got to the point in the past few years that I could barely walk a mile (running was out of the question) without limping and/or having deep discomfort. A surgeon I consulted with recommended I do physical therapy, but I was dubious that it would have any real effect. However, working with Dr. Ko helped me regain both mobility and some added durability. I don't think running marathons is in my near future (not that it ever really was), but I have been able to really improve my day-to-day life, and the instances where my ankle feels extremely weakened or painful have grown fewer and farther between. As the parent of a four-year-old, and an active person as well, this has been a real boon. Add to all this the fact that Dr. Ko has a great disposition, as does the office staff, and it really made for an incredibly positive experience working with them. For the first time in over 25 years, I am pain-free. Dr. K is an incredible physical therapist. Her kinesiological knowledge base and ability to understand a problem's cause and design a custom-fit solution are beyond measure. The entire organization is beyond measure. The front office staff and physical therapy assistants are kind, professional, and equally knowledgeable. The entire experience, from start to finish, is efficient yet personal and considered. My experience has been that when you go to a physical therapist with a complaint, they work on the area causing pain and no more. Most PTs don't know what to do if that doesn't work. I chose Joseph S. Luk Physical Therapy from a list of 4 that my spine surgeon recommended for pain issues related to my severe scoliosis. I based my decision on high ratings and the fact it was close by and had a McDonalds(!) in the building lobby. I was not disappointed. The office is bright and airy, clean and well run. The layout includes nicely furnished private rooms for therapy sessions. Ani Ailian is often at the front desk and is the efficient and capable manager of the office. She and the staff I met - Nick, Naire, Rachel and Jordan - greeted me with a friendly hello, by name, each time I came in. And they were kind! They were also eager to assist me with anything, from validating my parking, leading me to a therapy room at the appointed time, offering water, or setting up a wonderful heat pack for my back. I came in for PT sessions from February through June. The office became busier as the Covid pandemic waned and masks became optional, but there was no change in the courtesy and care I received. And, I definitely pulled the brass ring when I was assigned to Dr. Ani Khachatoorians as my physical therapist. At our first meeting, I knew I was in capable hands and was excited to start treatment. I was impressed with her positive energy, her honesty and knowledge, her professionalism AND sense of humor. She observed my gait, determined where I might be stiff or hurting and manipulated my body in different ways to relieve my tension and ease my pain. Early on she taught me 5 key stretches that I could do daily at home to help manage my pain. I asked and learned how the exercises were helping me. I appreciated that she was willing to answer any question and did so with thoughtful, honest feedback. When my primary care doctor asked me to have muscle strengthening exercises included, she had Nick teach me 8 new exercises that same day. Nick also provided me with written instructions for each to take home. Dr. Ani was direct and easy to talk to. I looked forward to my sessions with her because friendly conversation was always part of it, and there was always laughter, even if there was pain. I gained more than physical therapy in my sessions with her. I was sad when it was time to end my sessions, but I ended with a deep appreciation for the care physical therapists provide, a greater awareness of my body, and tools to help me manage my pain and keep my body strong for possible future spine surgery. Dr. Ko was recommended for the bruxism I was dealing with. He was excellent and exhibited a healthy curiosity about my functionality and engaged in a real conversation about areas on which to focus. He also helped immensely with tendinitis in my arm as well, I went in a total shambles and came out with targeted ways to improve my mobility and use! I just got off the phone with their manager Ani, who cancelled my 1st appointment scheduled for this morning because I told them that I would not sign their outdated strict $75 penalty policy for LATE arrivals and MISSED appointments. Charging $75 for a late arrival is unheard of : what is considered late? 5 min, 10 min? I arrive late for a 45min appointment my penalty is I don't get the full time of service. Missing an appointment without 24hr notice can happen now with COVID. I discussed that their policy verbiage needs to be updated to accommodate the current health crisis and unfair for the late arrival clause (charge a late penalty and still charge the insurance, excellent scam) but she refused to do that and just verbally said that she would evaluate each situation but I needed to sign the policy(?) ((This happened after they called me this morning at 8:30am to confirm that I am coming to my appointment for 10am. Which I said I am. They ended up cancelling my appointment for this morning (without a 24hour notice! I think I should send them a bill! :-/) read more

I've seen a myriad of specialist in my young age. Consistently doctors that rather treat the symptoms than discover the root of the problem. I went to Dr. Luk via a general PT referral from my GP. I had initially gone in to receive a referral to a neurologist because my presenting symptoms led me to believe it was potentially significant. My GP asked that I be evaluated by a PT before escalating and I agreed. Upon my initial evaluation Dr. Luk confidently determined that it wasn't in fact a root neurological issue but rather a slew of untreated residuals from my previous surgeries and conditions. After a month of multiweek treatment I was truly floored. When I'd entered his office I took our appointments standing because the drive to his office rendered myself unable to sit. By the end of our treatment I was doing the periformis 4-stretch without hesitation. I pray I don't ever need a specialist again, but if I do, I wouldn't go anywhere else. Descriptive. Authentic. I received PT treatment from Dr. Ani Khachatoorians over the course of 2 months to relieve my lower back pain. She was professional, easy to talk to, brutally honest (which I loved), and she greatly aided in fixing up my lower back issues with manual therapy + prescribed exercises. The PT aides & administrative staff are all very friendly and helpful. The facility itself is exceptionally clean and modern/aesthetically pleasing; their exercise floor/equipment is very well taken care of, and patients usually start off with manual therapy in a private suite. I was referred to this practice by my doctor for some issues with my hips, shoulders and back. I did multiple sessions over 6 weeks. In that short amount of time, not only did I experience significant improvements but by the end of it most of my issues had gone away completely. All of the staff are very friendly and inviting. They happily accommodated all of my scheduling requests. I missed one appointment by mistake and they were very nice about it. Finally, Dr. Ani took very good care and provided an excellent recovery program. Throughout that time she showed genuine care and concern for my well being.
