5 stars for the variety of plant pots available here! The best selection of colors, styles, and sizes I've seen out of any other nursery in Colorado. Or at least the ones I've been to. Less quantity of plants but still high quality of what's there. It's lush and pretty at Hilltop Gardens, albeit smaller than other places. This store is small and family owned. They always have the best plants, so many varieties of tropicals. This year I've really been getting into the perennial. There are lots of native plants too! LOVE hilltop. We are fairly new plant parents and gardeners learning how to nurture our green thumbs. Recently discovered we had this local garden center near us after having bad luck at big box stores. Every staff member is knowledgeable, willing to help, and the variety of plants there is amazing, which is something you can't always say for Lowe's or Home Depot. I have a devils backbone, mini umbrella, 2 African violets, and just got some annuals for our planters along with some organic fertilizer. Last weekend CSU extension was there for questions too which was SO cool!!!! Love it here. read more

Horrible place I didn't even make it out my truck by the time an old white man was staring me down I rolled my window down and asked if he had a problem or knew me or something ? The guy then asked if I was a customer and I said YES! I was only waiting for a female friend with more plant knowledge than me to get there to help me. Recently moved into a new house only came here cause I used to live at the trailers next to it ! We bought a rose bush ($50+) from here. Some kind of bug eating the leaves. Purchased (from here) some special feed to remedy this. Bush died. They would not even consider replacing it, even though I brought them pictures. No refund. No exchange. Nothing. Man said "well we're not sure the bugs came from us." This place is a great garden center filled with a variety of flowers, bushes, trees, fruits, and vegetables. We come here every year to get our soil and plants. They not only have outdoor plant, but they have indoor plants and tools inside. Super friendly and happy to support a local gardening center. read more

I never write reviews but this was necessary. Me and some friends went into this store yesterday and got stared at and given weird looks the entire time we where in the store until they finally asked us to leave and said that store wasn't the right spot for us. Seemed very racially targeted. I ended up still buying my plant but wish I wouldn't have. I will never be back here and I advise everyone else to stay away as well. Solid little nursery not too far from my house. Not as big as some of the other options around Denver but still a pretty decent selection. This is a hidden gem of a place on North Federal Avenue. I stopped by since I had heard the assortment of produce was very good. And I wasn't disappointed! If you like buying your food at farmer's markets, then this place is for you. The food is natural (unlike the plastic coated fruit at the local yuppie natural food megatores), and is grown locally. So you can support local farms and eat healthier at the same time! Stop by. You'll be delighted at the choices and you'll feel better knowing that you supported someone local. read more

I have never been to this place before and we went and got our Christmas tree here and we got the best service and the most beautiful tree I have ever bought live for a real tree. The lady was so nice and Helpful even though we got there right before they close and she personally went and picked out the tree that we were describing to her and it's so fresh and so gorgeous I will definitely be back for other things and in the warmer months. read more

We've been using Hilltop Gardens for years for great plants and shrubs. Yesterday when I saw the snow on the mountains I knew we were headed for winter, and I wasn't quite ready with green chile in the freezer. We saw they were roasting, and stopped there. So, if you know about peeling chile, you know that the roaster is the most important person in your life! Jason, did an absolutely perfect job with the chiles we bought there. We got a half bushel of Mesilla Big Jims and a half of Anaheims that were outstanding. Big, meaty, and the skins just slipped off when I got them ready for freezing! It makes life so much easier when you don't have to pick and pick and pick to prepare them, and that is all on the man doing your roasting. How did they taste? This morning on eggs, they were outstanding. The Anaheims had a deep, hot taste that lasted, but didn't hurt like some warm chiles do. I saved a pound of them to mix with fresh peaches that I'll can to make jam; the rest, I will prep for Steak Gonzales and plain old green chile stew in a few months. We ended up with about 14 pounds of chile, at $3.50 a pound. Can't beat that price and quality! read more

We get our Christmas tree here every winter and we get many of our flowers and shrubbery here in the spring! Staff at this location is knowledgeable and they are always willing to help. The selection is good and the price might be a bit higher here but the product always seems to be a higher quality. read more

My grandson is taking school on line and needed seeds for a biology experiment. When everyone else had taken their seeds off the shelf Hilltop still had theirs available.
