This clinic effectively refused to see a burn victim because he was from out of town. My friend sustained a bad burn at a gas station checking his engine. We drove to three different urgent cares (all closed) before calling Hilltop and making sure they were open. They told us to fill out an online form and that a nurse could help him triage from the car (because we were from out of town they didn't want us to enter). However, when we arrived, they changed their tune, saying they "may not" be able to see him and that they would have to decide. After begging a rude receptionist over the phone who ignored my friend's pain and made his urgent need for help about her ("I'm sorry sir I do t know who you spoke to before but you don't need to take it out on me!") Someone came out and told us to take pictures of the burn and email them, and they *may* be able to see him in 2 hours. Keep in mind he has a bad burn and is in need of immediate treatment. We decided to leave and seek help at a pharmacy instead. Who knew you could get better help for free from the staff at CVS inside Target than the people at a an urgent care clinic... The website says the 5 physicians started this clinic to help patients with minor emergencies. Looks like they strayed from the path. We were treated like second class citizens here. If your care needs are urgent, I urge you to reconsider seeking help from Hilltop. read more

I had a tele-health visit at Hilltop Medical Clinic in Redding - All the staff I interacted with from the office gals Sheridan, Katie, and Adrienne treated me as a person not a number. They were all kind, courteous, caring and professional. The nurse practitioner Sue Waite was caring, patient, genuine and very knowledgeable. This clinic is super- I only reason I gave it 4 stars is that during peak cold & flu season they are heavily booked, limiting the exposure to their staff and so "walking in" isn't an option. Remember to book online starting at 7am daily, online booking may be filled by 2-3pm. read more

Hilltop medical clinic was the worst medical service I have ever experienced. The doctor refused to even examine the injury and would not take an X-ray. Dr.Micheal Jorde became irate when we requested an X-ray as he thought we would be better serviced in an emergency room , even after us explaining we had no insurance and how much debt that would put us in. He took much of what we said of the injury completely out of context and suggested we receive an MRI which is an outrageous jump to conclusions without even so much as a physical examination. I'm absolutely appalled at the service we received from Dr.Micheal Jorde and HIGHLY recommend going elsewhere for care. I would have left zero stars but it didn't allow that. read more

Feb 18, we sat out in our car, attempting to fill out an on-line thing in order to get in and see a doc. It was very difficult to do the form (kept sending us back to the start), on a small phone in daylight in a car. Called in to the office and they said even once the form is filled out we'd have to sit in our car for up to an hour. Well, I'm glad we weren't there for a bladder issue and had to pee every 10 minutes!!! I called another clinic and they allowed people to come in to the waiting room, although fewer than normal due to covid stuff. Funny, in the medical business, how they all have different "policies" and few are on the same page with one another. I have been going to Hilltop for over 20 years. No more! During Covid-19, I came down with appendicitis like symptoms. I'm from Los Angeles and I had been quarantined in Redding for two months. I found Hilltop, I called and explained my symptoms and that I also have an autoimmune disease. They stayed in communication with me, I came in within 30 mins and I was seen pretty much immediately. I saw the doctor and nurse. They explained everything to me so I would feel at ease. I felt that my exam was through, comfortable and I felt they cared about my well being. During this time, they didn't have access to imaging like ultrasound etc, so they urged me to go to the emergency room because of the pain I was in. I'm so grateful I found this Urgent care. The doctor called me the following morning to see how I was feeling after I went to the ER. I've never had this experience in Los Angeles. Being in and out of hospitals the last 3 years, seeing numerous doctors, being at emergencies more times that I can count. I will never forget how friendly the staff was and how wonderful the doctor was. We need more people like them in the medical field. Called ahead 30 minutes so I could be seen quicker, been sitting in the back room for over an hour and a half in no air conditioning and still haven't been seen a doctor. Staff is extremely rude. My last experience here was awful too. I was told I had to pay out of pocket and they wouldn't take my insurance (really good insurance) because my injury was due to a car accident. I was told by my primary doctor who also treated my injury that its because they get more money that way. Worst place to go!!! read more

Stay far away. Youd be better off taking your chances with a flesh eating bacteria and MRSA in the ER than coming here. After about a three hour wait we werent seen by a doctor but a Nurse Practitioner. This should have been the first red flag. After a prescription was written by Mr. Anonymous doctor, we were discharged. A few minutes later we recieved a phone call about the bill. Clearly no due diligence was done for the bill. If they had contacted the insurance they would have known we have met all of our deductible and were at an out if pocket maximum. When they were informed of this they said they would look into it and call back. At the call back a few minutes later we were given a different amount which was still not correct. Obviously an attempt to collect money without waiting for the insurance to pay. Lucklily my wife and I know this and never pay anything without an explanation of benefits from the insurance company. Fast forward, an hour or so, and we contacted our pediatrician (initial visit was for an infant) the pediatrician was extremely concerned about how the medication was prescribed and told us to call back immediately and double check this info. When we said the pediatrician asked us to confirm we were met with immediate hostility, how could we peasants have the audacity to double check and ask to confirm the prescription! Being new to Redding, I was in a panic when I came down with a serious flu like illness without having established a doctor in the area. A friend told me to just find a clinic, so I did. I liked that I could fill out all the paperwork and check in online before driving over. This was supposed to decrease my wait time. So I walk in, feeling like death, and in the waiting room is a poor girl throwing up into a plastic kitchen bowl. The waiting room is the size of a tin can, so there's pretty much no escaping that. I sit and wait for close to 30 minutes before a lady comes out and gives the vomiting girl a mask to wear for everyone's protection. I was a little shocked it took that long. While waiting, the small room filled up so much that people were sitting on the floor and hanging around outside. It felt vaguely like an ER waiting room, but MUCH more cramped. I numbly contemplated why I hadn't just gone to the ER instead. My wait time before I was seen was close to 90 minutes. I ended up having strep throat, and they gave me my prescription, offered me a doctor's note, and sent me on my way. Whole appointment lasted 15 minutes, but I waited an hour and a half. I'm already trying to find a doctor. Never want to be in that situation again. read more

I go here every time I need something. They allow you to "call in" which is basically wait at home during the ESTIMATED WAIT TIME. The wait time does vary and isn't always accurate depending on what patients are coming in for ahead of you. The staff doesn't call it an appointment or reservation because it's just an ESTIMATED WAIT TIME. This office is usually the busiest. The staff does their best to get patients in and out quickly. If the wait time is less than what's estimated the front desk staff call you to come in sooner. If I come back and the WAIT ESTIMATE was incorrect they give an updated timeframe. You are still able to leave and come back. ALL OTHER CLINICS MAKE YOU WAIT IN THE LOBBY. If they do appointments like Anderson Walk In you're still waiting 5+ hours to be seen. This clinic doesn't have to offer this feature. Even new patients can do the online registration. Usually you're supposed to be there within 30min if the online sign in, but when wait times are 1 hour + the staff gives you more time. They don't have to do that. The staff have always been kind even when it's extremely busy. You might be able to tell they're frazzled, but they do their best and still stay kind. If you don't like how the clinic does things go somewhere else. I'm sure you can go to another urgent care and wait a few hours or just go to the ER and waste more than 1/2 your day. read more

Lacking of professionalism. I was sick for five days with the shakes, headaches, and body aches due to being chemically poisoned. Was in pain level 8 for five days. I never even got to talk to a doctor. The nurse treated me as if I was a drug addict. She left the room 3 times after questioning my symptoms and she didn't believe a word I said. She told me they would not treat me and I would have to leave. The nurse said If I needed medical care to go to ER. I could not afford to go to the ER. So I went home and suffered some more. How can these people call themselves medical professionals. They are medical cowards who don't care. Turned out, I had pneumonia. I'm lucky I didn't die. read more

From start to finish my first appointment exceeded my expectations. The online registration was short and easy, the follow up calls were very pleasant, and my visit with Dr. Mark Pierce was exceptional. I wish my primary care office staff and doctor were as pleasant to interact with. Anyways, I'm not big on reviews but I think the staff at HMC definitely deserves this one. read more

Doctors rate an A+, staff a B. Doctors speak at a level I can understand, seem very knowledgeable. Staff varies in experience. Overall a worthwhile visit. They don't take Medicare but they do file the paperwork, as long as you can afford the upfront expense. You can call in 30 minutes prior to arrival, that can shorten your wait time. read more

The online check-in system doesn't work despite checking in and call in and being told to come in. When I arrived I was told by Sophie that there was only one person ahead of me. They then proceed to call back three other patients. I asked what's going on you told me there was only one person ahead of me. She stated there was. Despite the fact they had just taken back those 3 other patients. Once taken I was put into a room and left there for over 30 minutes. I'm still waiting for the doctor to come in. Please save yourself a hassle and do not come to this walk-in. You will be waiting much longer than it would be to go to any other walk-in in Redding. The doctor are good but man the staff is a joke they can't operate a 6 room clinic. After finally being seen they took another 20 minutes to get me the paperwork form the visit because all of the front of house staff all bullshit with each other read more

I've been to this clinic a number of times and I've always been satisfied with their staff and services. Today was no exception. The receptionist was friendly and professional. Check in procedure is simple and can be done online, which is nice! The PA was efficient and professional; the doctor was great as well. I would definitely go back and refer friends to this clinic. Although there are several doctors that work here that I love, the receptionist, PAs, and office manager make me want to never return. And the fact that they can't get there billing right. They constantly over charge! They demand payment up front, which I understand, however if you can't use a calculator to figure out the correct percentage then NO you shouldn't get to charge what ever you feel like. They over charged my husband by $116.36 because he didn't know better. We have good insurance, that visit that he paid 146.86 of was only supposed to be 30.50!!!! That's a huge difference. And even after I brought in my EOB, they have refused to refund me. My insurance paid them 3 weeks ago! Every person I have talked to in town has had very similar things happen to them. read more

I've been coming here for urgent care since I was a kid and have always had a good experience. My most recent experience really solidified my loyalty to this clinic. I had been to another urgent care the day before for slamming my thumb in a locked car door and they had done nothing but tell me it was most likely fractured. They even made me put the splint on myself. After a sleepless night I went in early to Hilltop to get a second opinion. They were so kind and were able to drain the blood behind my nail which relieved SO MUCH of my pain. I felt brand new. They also gave me a prescription for the pain and scheduled a follow up to check up on the holes in my nail and make sure the bone was healing properly. The staff and Dr Miguel were kind and attentive and seemed genuinely concerned and empathetic. Great care and always has been. Went here today becaus3 family was sick and I finally got it. I saw Dr. Swanson and for the brief time we spent together, he diagnosed me with the flu. I told him my family has been sick with the same symptoms and had not been diagnosed with flu, but bronchitus and sinus infection. He then leaned back to consider what I had said and told me he would give me tamaflu and a z-pak and I determine weather or not to take them. He is supposed to be the doctor, not me. I got an appointment with my regular doctor as a walk in patient and was diagnosed with viral bronchitus. I ended up paying for a visit that was completely pointless. This is a great walk in clinic, after reading some of the previous reviews I was expecting it to be awful. We got there at 9:50am and checked out at 11:10am, not three hours like the usual walk in clinic. They were pretty busy too, there were at least 5 people ahead of me. The medical assistant/ receptionist was professional, knowledgeable, kind and helpful. The nurse who roomed me was just as good. I myself am a Certified Nurse Assistant and Medical Assistant, so I appreciate how hard they work. The Dr was attentive and professional, listened to all my concerns, even asked at the end of the visit if he had covered all my concerns or questions. I would definitely recommend this clinic and will be back again when I get sick. read more

This place is an absolute joke. I walked in with an online check-in, (which is supposed to be the fastest way to be seen), there was only one other patient in the lobby. I got called back and ended up waiting for over and hour and a half before I ended up just walking out without even being seen. I have been coming when needed to Hilltop Medical on and off for 5 years. Their speed and service has only improved in that time. The last time I walked in this past week I was third in line, and in and out within an hour. The nurse and nurse practitioner were very professional and helpful. Hands down, absolutely awful experience. We called at 5:05pm to ask how late they were open. I was told by the receptionist "Germaine" who answered the phone that if we were there by 545pm we could be seen as they close at 6. I drove like a maniac to get there as I don't live in town. Mind you with a sick baby girl who has a double ear infection, fever and pink eye. We get there at 5:44 and that was according to ATT time which I'm told is the most correct time you can get (post corporate phone call). Door is locked. We knock on the door as we can see patients waiting in the lobby and staff at the desk. Germaine comes outside and says "We are closed." My husband tells her that it's just now 545 and we called and have our sick daughter to be seen, who is already an established patient. She says "well we go by our clock and you are two minutes late" shuts the door and locks it. I call the front desk, mind you we are still outside with my very pissed off sick kid waiting. Germaine answered my call and was rude, and abrasive and verbally abusive. I tell her my reason for being literally a minute before the cut off time and that I had to drive there after work, etc etc. She tells me "I don't need your attitude." Well you snotty little thing, I don't need yours either. Clearly you don't have a child and don't know what is like to feel helpless to be able to make them feel better and be kicked down to the ground when you try every resource to get her medical attention. YOU Germaine, will be the demise of that business. You have ZERO empathy and ZERO customer service. I work in healthcare and everyone knows, you do right by the patient. We will NEVER BRING OUR BUSINESS there or to the hilltop location EVER again. Believe you/me, I will be telling anyone who will listen about my experience with you and this clinic. Accessible and competent care. Being a busy professional I have had to utilize Hilltops services far more than my family doctor who I have to take a number to see. No front office issues with the clerical staff. No hurry to get you out the door. They take the time to understand your problem. It can get a bit crowded if you don't time it right - early mornings or late evenings. Overall, I am very thankful to have access to such a great group of folks. read more

The physician on duty diagnosed a problem my family doctor had missed. The staff were all professional and cheerful. I did have to wait 45 minutes, as they were very busy, but it was reasonable for a walk-in. It took 1.5 hours to register (new patient), be seen, and pay my copay. I left with rx to fill. I had called to see if they could give me a cortisone shot as I've had tennis elbow for months. The receptionists said yes and as a matter a fact the Dr that gives them is here now. After taking time off work, waiting etc. A nurse practitioner come into the room and states I am not going to give you the shot nor is the Dr either, very abruptly. Her eyes were glued wide open as if I was asking for something illegal. She then states we cannot help you. They did give me my money back.
