Had elective surgery there. Their staff was super, super kind and helpful through the day-long process. Very professional and clean - yeah, I know that's to be expected at a hospital, but you know there's a big difference between levels of 'professional' and 'clean', and I'd say this hospital definitely ranks best out of the 6-10 I've been encountered in my life. My surgeon said he can't do as many surgeries in a day at this hospital compared to the other one in town. At the other one, patients are pushed through a lot faster -which he likes - but he understood that from the patient's perspective it's probably better not to be ran through as quickly. We came into the emergency room at 10:40pm and we are still sitting here at 3am. No one has given us an update and most of the nursing staff have been extremely rude to other patients. When I asked if I could get a pillow for my wife and I, I was literally told to go look for it myself. None of the staff takes any initiative and the only way we have made progress through our visit is by us asking the staff to do things. For example we were told that we needed to wait for an ultrasound review. After waiting for 2.5 hours, we asked if they knew anything and they were like... oh yeah we've known for a bit, everything looks fine. Seriously? You didn't think it would be important to tell us that? It's the only emergency room around, but that's no excuse for the absolutely horrendous service/care we've received. Quality of care!! My husband suffered a stroke in Dec. 2025 and was admitted to ICU. He remained in ICU for over a month, overly sedated & restrained for unreasonable purposes. Why would someone overly sedated with horse tranquilizers need restraints??!!! He did not receive proper hygiene, hydration or mouthcare which resulted in bed sores and severe dehydration!!! I also noticed bruising on arms and inner thighs which have been documented & photographed for legal purposes!! After enduring my husband's treatment or better words, lack of appropriate care, I demanded him be discharged and transferred to Accute Rehab-SAC immediately! I went in because I was having problems with neck, and as someone with chiari malformation, I have been at risk of damaging C3 and going quadriplegic before. No one took me seriously besides the amazing nurse Heather. The doctor triaging me even interrupted me answering his questions, to chat with another doctor about their plans after work, and then just went to next question. They took one CT and said I don't even have Chiari and to try physical therapy. I tried telling them you can't even see Chiari without an MRI and they kept insisting that I must have just grown out of it. It's common knowledge that this place is outdated and does not have the capacity or adequate accommodations to provide care for the population of this town and the surrounding area who come here to be seen. It is also common knowledge that you're going to wait six to eight hours to be seen. I've been here several times because I have a chronic medical condition that requires me to come to the emergency room about two or three times a year, and every time I come, it's hard to believe that I am in the United States of America. It feels more like a Third World country when I come in here A town of this size should have 24 hour walk in immediate care medical care facilities, but it doesn't and the citizens of this community and surrounding area are forced to come to the hospital when they should be able to go to an immediate care center instead. So here we are, all forced to come to an a hospital emergency room and be stuffed into a waiting room and wait a ridiculous amount of time to be seen. If you want to see a real Mercy Medical Center, google the Gilbert Arizona Mercy medical hospital. That's the Mercy Medical Center that I've been to before being forced to go to this hell hole. When I heard that there was a mercy medical hospital here I thought oh great! Boy, what an absolute nightmare and disappointment The nuns that had a vision of the hospital on the hill was wonderful in the moment and at the time, but we have outgrown this hospital. It needs to be sold, completely renovated and made into a hotel and spa and a new hospital needs to be built on flat land out by the airport. The staff here is always great (for the most part) and you can tell they are overworked and under appreciated- it's no wonder that this area struggles to find providers with facilities like this - I would not want to work in this hospital and this absolutely must have an impact on our community The facility is gross, outdated, and too small. They pay their CEO a multi million dollar salary of but there is no money to provide facilities that accommodate this community For example, it's 105° outside and I was sitting in a TINY crammed room with four people and another patient was literally less than 3 feet away from me while we are getting treated. They have makeshift rooms everywhere in this place that are not designed to do what they are using them for. It does not make you feel safe or comfortable and it certainly cannot be in alignment with any type of medical norms or expectations for adequate patient care. There is no way. The waiting room is uncomfortable, overcrowded, and I would be completely embarrassed to make my staff work in facilities like this. There is no patient privacy. You have to wait outside in the Redding summer heat in the summertime because the waiting room overflow is literally outside. Does no one have the common sense or the money to enclose the entire area and expand it? They have the money- they just don't want to spend it. There is a donor plaque on the wall that gave someone a nice tax write off to provide some cheap furniture in the waiting room -i would be embarrassed to have my name on the wall of this place. The entire place needs to just be abandoned and a new facility that accommodates this community should be built in its place. Perhaps someone should ask the mercy Medical Center in Gilbert, Arizona for the design plans, build a new hospital and quit treating people like livestock animals while overcharging us. Just go to another town or drive down to UC Davis because it will take you less time and you will get better care. Also, no GI physician on call either. Is it really this hard? I see all these 1 stars . I can't say I had the same experience. I had a good experience with the trauma team . I was brought in and was hurt pretty bad . The first person I met did t listen to me when I asked for a cervical collar . For I had fallen pretty far and landed bad on my back and head struck pretty hard. Then I was out in a chair and sent to registration ? Confusing to me then I went to triage room where a nurse asked me question while the Dr was on another call. She started asking the questions he dropped his call and then started asking me questions and I got the cervical collar . They activated the trauma protocol and were right on top of me. People gotta understand being in the medical field it's a tough situation. You see hundreds of even thousand of people through an ER.. a lot of it is lies and bs from people to get seen sooner . I've lived it . They were good to me as soon as they realized I was really hurt . That took asking me questions . I get it . When the action started it flew . Clothes off iv labs and off to ct. and yes it was fast after getting to the room. I am very impressed. A lot of young nurses and doctors so it's good for the community. The older more experienced nurses are on point. The ones I met were very calm, which was much needed in my case . I've seen a lot in my 57 years And my mind was racing . For I've seen these things go bad really fast. Meds and calmness . I felt safe .. the trauma PA was great. I'm leaving names out for I don't remember them all. Every person was great . The CT TEAM, the MRI team, Trauma team fantastic. As I said I felt safe. After I was admitted I went to the oncology / tele floor . The open bed . The staff there were so nice . I couldn't get over how nice the entire staff is. All of the staff were great. So nice and we're good at their jobs . They shows they really care and were very good to me. I met the trauma team doctor and PA . I then med the neurosurgery PA AFTER . I give them an A plus. Very thorough, very caring and friendly. They explained everything well. The Neurosurgery PA went through all my scans and mri. He taught me a lot and showed me the nerves and spinal cord images - 3d is so definitive. I am happy I went here. I'm not happy I got hurt. But - they did a great job on helping me and my family. I'm out of the area. I was visiting for Christmas . And I got hurt on Christmas Day. If I didn't go in. I could have died. They prevented that. I'm not usually one to take personal situations to social media, but I wanted to share my interaction as a heads up and maybe precaution to anyone that may be delivering at Mercy. Last month I went into labor, I made it to the hospital already feeling like I needed to push. (I unknowingly was experiencing a placental abruption). I sent my husband in to the ER (5:20am) to get a nurse and wheelchair. My husband rushed back out, and in between contractions I painfully made my way towards the door. I made it to the outside waiting room before someone came out with a chair. At that point I told them I needed to push, in which they asked if it was my first baby. I explained it was my 4th. Nothing further was said. They made my husband stay to do the admitting paperwork and wheeled me into the hallway toward the elevator. Upon entering the hallway, I told them I needed to push again, the nurse that was pushing my chair said "don't do that" & I responded with "I have to". She didn't respond nor did she pick up the pace and continued walking me to the elevator. I then proceeded to deliver my daughter in the wheelchair to which the nurse said "oh this baby is coming now" but made no attempt to assist in anyway. My husband was finally brought back after this. From there, nobody picked my baby up out of the wheelchair (I was supporting myself on the handles to prevent from sitting on her) until we got upstairs to the third floor. While waiting for the elevator a janitor was trying to get out of the elevator (i delivered directly in front of them) and asked to get by (as if there wasn't a mess or my pants weren't around my ankles or a baby sitting beneath me in the chair). I was unable to hold my baby once we got to our room due to her having a low temp due to sitting in the wheelchair uncovered for an extended period of time. Once we got upstairs, we had several different staff members comment on how they would've loved to have been there, "killed to have seen that", etc. people we didn't see again and were of no assistance. I've attempted to reach out to mercy via email and have left a voicemail to file a grievance but have received no response. If you're going to deliver at mercy, please advocate for yourself, I wish I would've. read more

I was almost very impressed. I had a complete knee replacement done. My surgeon was Dr. Blackburn, he did an exceptional job. But I was left alone to dress myself (?) after having a complete knee replacement. I could barely stand, let alone dress myself. I ended up fainting, most likely from the pain meds. But I don't know how long I was on the floor, before my son came in and found me on the cold floor. I was very disappointed that I was left alone with no assistance. The surgeon there (Dr. Kayali) preformed an emergency surgery on me and while he was at it, fixed numerous other problematic issues stemming from a "non invasive" hernia surgery I had in the past. The Dr's hands were divinely guided. I woke up with no pain compared to the work stemming from shasta regional and problems fixed. My first surgery that seemingly fixed the issues at hand and resulted in minimized to no pain. The staff was very kind and professional. Type and Quality of Care was awful! Brought in by ambulance where I briefly saw a MD upon arrival, maybe 2 minutes max! Was being taken to a room and the next thing I'm in the regular ER waiting room. Got checked in right away because rhey wanted $$$. Didn't give 2 shits about my fall where I've been in the most pain EVER in my life! Eventually to X-rays, that team was ok, the best out of all of them. I was there at least 7 hours. Finally I asked a nurse after 5/6 hours what's going on, where's the doctor? She said I'll get back to you while I'm in agony in the waiting room. Finally she comes back and said your arm is fractured. Well release you! WTF? No cast, no DOCTOR, o telling me what to do? I want to speak to the Doctor. No bedside manner? Finally said, you want yo see me? I said yes, I want to know w gf at the hell is going on and where is my fracture(z)? He got nervous and started stuttering. You fractured your humerus bone. And I said you were discharging me not telling me? Gave me instructions with therapy and see an orthopedist. I get home 4 hours away. I couldn't and still can't drive! I called my ortho and first thing they asked are where is the CD with your X-rays? Mercy never gave them to me. So what the heck? I paid over $800 to have the worst care ever. I live in the Bay Atea. The FD and ENT's said we recommend Mercy! Wrong!! Maybe they get kickbacks? Though that against Anti Stark rules! After I got home, several people said you should've gone to Shasta! But I went by the FD/EMT's. So since they never sent me with any Xrays or CD, I had to get new X-rays again!!! Wait to find out my arm was fractured in 2 places, not 1!!! Never/Ever would I recommend this hospital. My next call is to my Credit Card! Shame on you Mercy Medical! This was a disgrace!!!! Well, it's an ER, so expectations are low. However, my complaint is the billing. I sat in ER for more than 4 hours waiting to be seen. Saw a doctor for about 5 minutes, and got a CT Scan, then I was sent home. Literally, that was it.... They had a lady going around asking for payment while I sat there in severe pain. She estimated my bill to be $800 before I was even seen by a doctor. I have insurance, but my deductible is high, so I end up paying until my deductible has been met. I paid $800 on my credit card right there in the ER, under duress because I felt sick and in pain. Then a few weeks later, I get a bill for another $1,800 !. I spent a month and about 10 phone calls trying to get an itemized bill to find out what could possibly cost so much, since I had already paid $800 Finally after much trouble, I get an itemized bill. They billed $13,000.00 to my insurance for a CT Scan. Yeah, you read that right....$13,000.00 That's more than I paid for my freaking car When I asked them to justify charging $13K for a CT scan, they came back with some BS about how expensive the equipment is to maintain, and how people with insurance are paying higher costs because of all the uninsured people. WTF??? Yeah right.. I guess I must have paid for the entire years' worth of maintenance on their CT machines Funny thing is, I have a friend who just went to the ER and had a CT scan too, and yet her full bill was only $800 So now I am stuck on a payment plan giving these people $100 a month to pay off a bill that is completely BS....and they know it. The emergency waiting room was absolutely disgusting. It had food and cups all over the floor and even crushed up pills in front of my wheelchair. The nurse who put in my IV ruptured my vein which resulted in a very painful IV and led to a horrible bruise after I left. The whole visit took about eight hours for extreme abdominal pain. Test results alone took about five hours where I had to sit in the center of the room in a wheelchair with horrible pain when all I needed was to lay down. It was hard to get the attention of the staff because they were chatting with each other and it felt like my pain wasn't paid attention too. It was a very long and difficult night. Took my father into to the ER which was recommended from the VA urgent care because of some heart issues. Everyone talks about how rude nurses are in reviews of Mercy Hospital, but I did not expect that I would encounter two who were not even involved in my dad's care. I told the nurses at the desk my dad was having an irregular heart beat because his nurse was on break and was not there, on his monitor they responded very rudely and condescending, mind you they were not busy at the time. I responded back that they were being very unprofessional which prompted them into a retaliation by calling security on me for just being concerned about my dad and wanted to bring attention to a matter considering they were not doing any patient monitoring on a heart patient . They discharged my dad without any explanation or ideas of what was going on except a follow up with his cardiologist, took him to Shasta Regional Hospital afterwards and he needed two heart stents. So I look at hospitals from the lens of a medical professional and have super high expectations. Sometimes kids need to move from one hospital to another because of the super specialized nature of healthcare and that's where I come in. In the case of Mercy they make my job so much easier. How? First off the staff both in the ED and the ICU were fantastic. The ED was swamped yet they still managed to get someone to escort us to where we needed to go (the last thing I want to do is to wander about a unfamiliar hospital with all of my gear trying to find where my patient is) Once we got to where the we needed to go in this case the ICU, again the staff was friendly, professional, prepared, and went above and beyond to help us get the patient and family ready for the transport. The staff was very nice and congenial. My 81 year old dad had a knee replacement surgery on the 22nd of November. Within 48 hours I came down with the worst flu of my life. I have never been this sick. 3 days later I am still down. Now my poor dad has the flu!! He's struggling and getting dehydrated. Now my husband is also sick. Hospital: My father was in the hospital for over a week due to agonizing pain caused by a chronic illness, as well as recently being diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. He was in the oncology unit. The vast majority of the experience was positive. He had a speech therapist (for swallowing issues), a physical therapist and a dietician in addition to the doctor over-seeing his care. Being in the hospital is never a fun experience. However, everyone was kind, patient and professional. Hospice Care: Soon after being discharged, my father began to receive care from the Hospice Program. He was at home, so my sister, mom & I provided the majority of the care. It was emotional time as well as an intimidating process. The Hospice Team was great!! Responsive, helpful, kind and patient. There were a lot of different medications and we needed a lot of guidance. They helped directly with his care as well as coordinating the delivery of the medical equipment, supplies & medications. Shout-out to the wonderful nurses who supported us: Jay, Barb and Andrea! A Chaplain called and offered to come by. After my father passed, we were advised that a bereavement team member would reach out soon. I can't recommend the program enough. They have a lot of wraparound care for the patient and the family. I was incredibly impressed. They gave us the support we needed during a traumatic and emotional time. We are very grateful. read more

Orthopedic surgery and nursing care went well. However nurse's discharge instructions were generic and were not specific to my past medical history. Following the instructions carefully led to severe complications requiring an Emergency Room visit and readmission for observation. The complications and ER visit was extremely difficult and completely unnecessary if I had some warning. The ER doctor disagreed (he was correct) with the discharge instructions but I had to suffer the consequences. I tried to leave feedback to orthopedic nurses but calls weren't returned. The "pleasant" treatment I was impressed with after surgery was nice, but the days of painful harm due to generic instructions makes me wonder if they were simply caught up in a robotic routine with my needs ignored. read more

I didn't want to write this review. Why would I want to go back and reflect on the saddest days of my life? Even thinking about it at this moment, I can feel myself starting to get emotional. But I believe in giving credit where credit is due and I have to give a shout out to the incredible ICU team that treated my father this past July. My father was administered really early the morning of Saturday, July 23rd. Over the next 48 hours, the doctors and nurses of the ICU worked vigorously to do everything within their ability to help him. When I saw him that Saturday afternoon, he was still conscious but unable to verbally communicate. The most he could do was lightly lift a finger as to tell me to take his hand. The staff at that time was very gentle and kind. Telling me that he is awake and that he knows that I am there. Even mentioning that his blood pressure is performing the best it has all day now that I was in the room. They sensed how fragile I was so they were very delicate as they explained the reality of the situation. They allowed me to take up space in that tiny room, just worked around me, so that I could be present with him. They even let me stay for a few minutes after visiting hours ended so I could take my time saying goodbye. I could tell that they knew how hard this was. They granted me the time and the space while also being attentive to my father's well being. On the morning of Monday, July 25th, it was time to take him off of ventilation. He took his last breath at 11:13 AM. They allowed myself, my two brothers, and my mother to be in the room as he went. They even got us water and snacks while we were there, waiting for the inevitable. This was the saddest experience of my entire life, but it was not a horrible one, due to the care of that team. I wish I got their names, but I was a bit preoccupied. Even though they introduced themselves plenty of times my brain was jello and no names were absorbed. But to everyone who cared for Samuel Aaron McCall, Jr, thank you for doing everything you could for him, and thank you for caring for my family during such an intensely sad time. read more

We have a daughter that's under 18 but is in her 2nd semester in College. It's frustrating the hospital maintains such a dumb rule. They should be smart enough 1) to figure out how people under 18 can access the hospital and 2) if not, at least use intelligence to figure out which people under 18 are an issue inside the hospital. EVERYTIME I COME HERE. They won't even see you for a good hour. Won't let people come back with you unless you continuously ask. I came in here after getting hit by a car and was told I could go to work the next day and I was fine nothing was broken but my ankle was the size of a base ball. Some of the nurses and phlebotomy girls are so sweet. Also waited in my room for 45 min to get my discharge papers. And they stopped me from leaving without them then took another 15 min to bring them !! They didn't even say on my papers what was wrong it didn't mention I needed to be seen again to check it didn't have anything helpful to me. The people that work there and the doctors, don't seem to care about their patients. Seems like they're just numbers to them or stats. Their quality of care is piss poor. Their motto is" humankindness". It seems like that's what they're lacking. My mother just got out of the hospital from heart surgery and they're aftercare has been nothing but problems. I got treated the same after my surgery, I'm an incomplete quadriplegic that they might help contribute to. There's some shady business going on up there. Can I write them 0.02? I think people just want decent quality of care. Something seems to be lacking in that department. I sure hope they figure out their problem real soon. No one really likes them anymore in town. Having both of my young daughters going thru surgery over the last year was a very stressful time. I've had both my children here at this hospital as well as several minor surgeries myself here. But there's something different about a 7 year old little girl getting her tonsils removed. And something quite different than a 3 year old getting 2 lazy eyes corrected. To say that the drs and staff here are amazing is an understatement. So kind and caring and so extremely attentive to not only my daughters but to us as the parents who were clearly emotional. I recommend this hospital above and beyond any others in our north state area. It may be a longer wait in the ER but it's because they take their time and care with each and every patient. They're not looking to simply empty a bed to get the next patient into it. They currently follow all COVID-19 guidelines. The entire facility is pristine.
