It appears fairly clean. .But when the room was "cleaned" after 1st nite there-no clean glasses, no bath mat, no fresh towels. Second nite room was not cleaned at all... So they took parking off the bill... Wow, how generous! If I couldn't afford the parking I would not have booked the room! I would much prefer a clean room 2 being comped. Would not stay here again. Housekeeping was horrific. For that much $$$, I should get a clean room...also wifi was xtra, no continental breakfast 4 free....& walls r paper thin...I was woken up @ 01 or 02 every nite by the screaming in the hall.....no thanks, never again!!!!!! read more

I wanted to express my appreciation for the superior service I received during my stay at the Hilton Hotel. My organization has visited and roomed at hundreds of hotels over the past years, but rarely do I ever use the word EXCEPTIONAL until now. From the moment Kristina checked me in on March 9th until I departed on March 11th, every contact I had with their staff was extremely friendly, courteous and quite professional. She was a breath of fresh air and extremely cheerful each time I arrived at the front desk for inquiries. Being very sweet and helpful, she always made a point to tell me if I needed help with anything to let her know. All 35 of the rooms were clean and comfortably appointed. I was extremely satisfied with the comfort of the rooms - the high quality of the bedding & pillow, high end plasma televisions, fridges, the cleanliness of the rooms, and the halls and lobby. The bathrooms are exceptional and spacious. Even the pool is perfect. However, as much as I enjoyed the accommodations, the most important factor to me is customer service. The management and staff of the Hilton in Del Mar rivals or excels that of any hotel I have stayed in. The staff had come to recognize me and I rarely even had to say my name when I came to the front desk or lobby. The entire staff was friendly and courteous, and always checking to see if I have been enjoying my stay or if I need anything at all. Even during this infamous busy weekend when the hotel was packed, I received the same level of customer service as I was hoping for. I wanted everyone to know what a gem they have in the management and staff of this hotel. It is evident how all of the extra touches, attention to detail and customer service is part of the workplace culture here at the Hilton. In particular, both evening managers Mike and Jason had been over the top helpful and professional with any concern throughout the nights. Having thrown several large events in the past, I can confidently say these managers were some of the easiest, most helpful and overall accommodating that I have ever worked side by side with. Being in close contact, any issue was resolved immediately and professionally. Their effort made the stay at the hotel a breeze. The last aspect of our stay was the planning and reservation of the event. My reservations were made through their sales manager, Kathryn, and she made me feel like we were best friends for years. I told her I was feeling quite frazzled trying to get everything together at such a late notice due to a last minute cancel at another hotel. She could not have been any more friendly and accommodating during this time. Kathryn was so professional and more importantly, personable, with room reservations and also assisting with any question -- always with a smile and evident concern for our situation. She definitely went the extra mile to provide a calm and relaxing environment for our stay. She added her 'can do' attitude to any and every concern brought up by me or my group. Despite my very last minute reservations or changes in our plans, Kathryn always seemed to have a level head and a true sense of being on top of everything. Exchanging over 100 emails in total regarding the weekend stay at the Hilton, Kathryn provided me with the safe feeling that she was in control and taking care of my entire group and our stay. To sum up, each and every employee was outstanding with their customer service. The entire staff is well-trained, capable and extremely polite. The Hilton hotel is an exceptional place to stay and I will highly recommend it. I will definitely be coming back to stay at the Hilton San Diego, Del Mar hotel again in the future! Absolute beautiful hotel, it felt more like the Ritz Carlton with its decor on the inside. The lobby is modern and upscale- it really surprised me. The wedding I went to there had great service, wonderful food, and the wedding was gorgeous. It is a short drive to anything- but I think they have a trolley. First off I loved the bartender Christopher, he was super friendly and made us amazing drinks that helped our night get started right! The concierge Jen was super helpful & gave us lots of different nearby fun places we could check out. After a little hiccup with their cleaning crew acting strangely towards my friend and I, we were quickly accommodated a new upgraded room. The front desk lady, Carry (guessing on the spelling) was super understanding and apologetic, she helped us out right away and had a bellhop escourt us to our room to help with our luggage! His name was Christopher as well who was very nice! They both made it a very smooth and easy transition. Overall the staffing is great, quick, and friendly! The rooms were clean and very pretty. A very spacious outdoors that's very relaxing and a modern inside that makes you feel luxorious but at home. I had a great experience & would love to come here again! read more

On December 24th evening, we hosted them and the others for our long-awaited family reunion dinner for us 10 in your beautiful Coastal Kitchen dining room. The service was exquisite -- personal, professional, and extraordinarily attentive every moment. And the menu offered something for each of us -- from schoolchildren to us grandparents. And the dining area was wonderfully designed to allow us to hear our family conversations. After dinner, we continued outdoors at your beautiful fire pit with together-time we'll never forget. Stayed here last night and what a cool location! We headed to the fair in the evening, which is right across the street.. Its also where horses race during race season in Del Mar. We're going to check out the restaurant tonight here in the hotel. Our rooms were beautiful and very clean. read more

It's hot outside and all I want to do is get into my air conditioned room and rest before all the wedding activities begin. After checking in, the front desk tells me to park around back near the room, but kindly leaves out that there is one elevator in the front of the hotel. One trip with six bags, up two flights of an evacuation stair wells and a 15-minute walk I am at our hotel room door. Are you that person who jumps backwards on the huge puffy bed as soon as you get to the hotel? I'm not, but after the previous mission, it sounded like a good idea. While I am mid-leap I notice, I am heading for what I'm hoping is a burrito stain and not a sh&% stain on the comforter. Yuck, that is gross. Okay, it's only a stain and can be fixed. Ring ring, I explain the situation to the front desk, get the standard "oh I apologize and we'll send someone to fix it". Knock knock, door opens. Ummm, please give me a chance to open the door. Don't just come in to my room. He takes the comforter, does not replace it with a new one and leaves. Ring ring, "hi, I now don't have a comforter on my bed" "oh I apologize and we'll send someone to fix it". Knock knock, door opens, again, without giving me a chance to open it. This time to give me a comforter without a cover. I explain that I also need the cover...and guess what happens. Knock knocks and just opens the door. At this point I'm annoyed. The woman hands me a comforter cover and asks me if I'm okay now. I just laugh. I am now laying on the bed, inside the comforter cover watching the tv with the ac blasting. These are my first 2 experiences within 30 minutes of checking into a $300+ per night hotel. The rest of the night is fine, no issues. The next day we decided to enjoy the pool and a few drinks. I promptly fall asleep at the pool and begin snoring, which my girl loved...okay let's get a drink. The waitress told us that since she was too busy working in the main bar area, she is not available to get us drinks, "Maybe in an hour". I take it as a sign and poor management...and not to get drunk before the wedding. We go back to the room and it's still dirty, 2pm and no maid service. Ring ring, I ask the front desk why they hate us and finally get maid service and yes, knock knock and just opens the door. Are you getting tired of reading this, trust me I'm not trying to bash this hotel. I just want good service. Finally it's time to leave and they are trying to hang $100 of bar drinks on our bill. I ask my girl to ask for a copy of the receipt to see the signature because I needed to go outside...to stand in the 95 degree heat because it was less annoying then everyone at the hotel. Well not everyone, we were missing a scarf that must have fallen off walking from the cab to the room after the wedding. The valet was actually the most responsible person at the hotel. He responded to phone calls, followed up with the search, gave sms updates and found the scarf. I like the Hilton brand; I have a preferred membership due to business travel. Hotel is very comfortable. Booked through Costco, checkin was easy, daily parking fee seems a little steep. Beds are comfortable, rooms are clean, pool is big and poolside service was okay( a little slow- even though it was a weekend). Can be a long walk from rooms to elevator or stairs, so if you're traveling with Littles request one near the elevator if possible. Remember that an 18% gratuity is automatically added to room service, etc, so don't be tricked into writing in additional tip (made that mistake once poolside). Yesterday we held our family Christmas celebration here. The entire event was a huge success. Everyone from the (former) general manager. Justin Foster, the new GM, Phil Campinelle,the food and beverage manager, Adam Schink, our servers Claudia and Tara were exceptional. We were welcomed by everyone and always with a smile. first day, no air condition especially on a hot day. second, it took 2 request to fix the air condition problem. i could not turn off the water. the shower curtain spill water to the side. the finish on the wall must be done by a drunk person. the location of toilet paper was in an award location. the restroom is very small with poor air circulation. if you walk the hallway, scratches on the wall by some idiot. the weight room and breakfast room was very small. the free breakfast only serve basic cereal and junk food. the breakfast buffet add fruits, egg,and sausage. they do not offer adult dining room for romantic or special occasion. at the bar,there was kids crying and stress parents who want kids so bad but could not handle the wild kids feeling frustrated. i have to laugh at them when i saw them. since food are expensive ,lack of healthy selection,and small portion, most guests order food from outside and bring it back to the hotel. the dog parking was not well maintain. dead grass and paint is peeling. at the racetrack, we wait 31 minutes for hilton hotel shuttle to pick us up even though he said 5 minutes top. read more

The front desk did not display hospitality. Perhaps it's because we were minorities. The room we were given had air pressure issues that wouldn't permit the use of cold water. No Wifi in room- was expecting to be able to communicate with people I was meeting out there via wifi based apps (what's app, fae time, etc.) and do work/email. Wifi did not work all weekend. It was very stressful trying to coordinate/communicate with people I needed to and knowing I could not get work done. Staff looked into it but it wasn't resolved, said they'd send a tech - the tech never came. At that point they offered us complimentary upgraded wifi but that didn't work either. Manager offered to switch our room but we were already unpacked and exhausted, would rather have just gotten a discount but got more of a shoulder-shrug "sorry about that" kind of thing. If this was Days Inn, i'd get it, but if I'm paying close to $180 a night, I expect better. Was also told it might be my phone, but my roommate had the same issue. As soon as we'd step in the hall, Wifi OK, step into the hotel room, no signal whatsoever. We were on the second floor. Hopefully that can be looked in to. We ended up going to Denny's for coffee and used their wifi which was awesome. Also saved a boat load by eating there and skipping expensive hotel brunch. Good stuff: complimentary shuttle, clean rooms, comfortable beds & pillows, good bathroom. Staff was courteous and concerned even if they couldn't help us with the wifi. Overall I'd say if you are paying that much money, just find a place by the beach. Similar prices, and my friends who stayed there were much happier with their experiences. read more

I chose this hotel because of the ratings on Hotels.com and location. I should have read the Yelp reviews! The first major flaw I saw was that when you do self parking, there is no access to the lobby from the parking lot. You have to walk all the way around to the front of the hotel with your luggage. This is especially irritating because the majority of the closer parking spaces are reserved for Valet and HH members. These lots were barely full, however since we were ONLY paying $18/ night for parking, we had to park very far and walk the entire length of the hotel to get to the front.We arrived at 12:30am and did not go to bed until 3am. At 6:45am, there was a knock at the door. We were half asleep and did not answer. Then, someone tried to open our door but the top latch was on. We were 4 girls (me and my 3 nieces) and it scared them immensely. My niece woke me up and said someone was trying to come in the room. Then the phone rings and it's guest services telling us they left coffee at our front door. I mean, seriously? It was a rude awakening to say the least. Why would they just open the door if we don't answer at 6;45am? Why didn't they just leave the coffee at the door? PS- we did not request it so they obviously got the room wrong. Other than that, the room was very clean and comfortable. It was a good size as well. Be advised, the walls are very thin. You can hear every conversation from the neighboring rooms. At one point, I think the neighboring toddler was having a tea party. All in all, good enough for the price. Location and proximity to the freeway is a bonus. read more

My husband and I went for our 5 year anniversary. We let them know about it ahead of time so maybe they would do something special for us. As every Marriott has always done. The woman named Natishi who checked us in wasn't even friendly. No "happy anniversary" or anything. We got to our room and we were on the first floor facing the parking lot and freeway. No patio as seen in the pictures on the website. We specifically asked for a feather free room. Well there were feathers. When I called the front desk the guy made it seem like we were putting a burden on him. No "I'm sorry." Then took almost 40 minutes to give us new ones. The pool was just like the one at our apartment community, which isn't saying much. Boring and outdated. We went to the bar and there were a lot of business meetings going on. Because were dressed casually, not looking made of money, they completely ignored us. Looked at us but wouldn't even say hi. We had to interrupt a waitress to get drinks and food. The next morning we asked for a late checkout at 1 pm which they gave us. At exactly 11:59 AM housekeeping knocked and kept knocking until finally he opened the door! Even though there was a "Do Not Disturb" sign. Seeing he couldn't open all the way because of the latch he just said sorry and left. Leaving the door partially open. We booked this hotel because it was reasonably priced and the pictures made it seem beautiful especially at night time. Don't be fooled. It is old and not a place if you want some romance. read more

The rooms look like they were just renovated. It looks nice, until we tried to log in to the wifi and couldn't pick up any signal with our iPhones and iPads. A call to their tech service line couldn't resolve the issue, only way to solve it was to switch rooms. Really?? Okay, so we agreed to switch to another room, which was smaller than our first one. But we were happy we were able to connect to the hotel's wifi, until at 4 am when something made the cabinets rattle and our beds were shaking. I thought we were having an earthquake. We had constant noise from some sort of plumb line. Thank goodness we only stayed one night. When it came time to check out, the attendant didn't ask how my stay was, so I told her that the room that we were relocated to was very noisy and we did not get a good nights sleep. Her response, "I'm sorry." That's it, nothing else. Wow, what great customer service. Never staying here again and I'm a hilton's honors member. read more

Normally I have a wonderful experience staying at any Hilton branch but this experience has made me rethink in whether I should book with Hilton in the future. I had made my reservations directly with the reservations manager and received confirmation on my HHonors app I downloaded. After taking the family to Lego Land headed to the hotel to find out that my room had been given to someone else. The front desk manger had no customer service skills what so ever. Made me feel as if it was my fault for them booking my room. In the mean time I have my four year old child sleeping in a stroller waiting for over 45 min for them to find a solution. The manger who never came back to talk to me send another clerk with the solution of booking me at a Holiday Inn Hotel. I felt as if they were just trying to get rid of us. After having no other alternative I asked to make sure that I was getting a room with two beds and I was assured that I was. As we walk in to the room at the Holiday Inn I come to see that they book a room with one king size bed. As if the night couldn't get any worse I contacted the front desk at the Hilton to speak with the clerk to fix this asap and was told that he would contact me right back. I waited 20 min and had to call him back myself. I asked him why he hadn't called back he responded in a laughing tone that he was just about to call me back. Lack of responsibility and urgency. I have limited vacation times to take the family on a small vacation and for it to be ruined this way is unacceptable. I made it clear that first thing Monday to be contacted by the reservations manager who has yet to call me back. If it was possible to grade you with negative stars believe me I would. read more

Very disappointed with our stay. We stayed here on our wedding night. I called the morning before and confirmed the previously requested surprise champagne, cheese, and fruit platter for my husband. Additionally, I PAID for an room upgrade and access to the club lounge. When I spoke to the hotel, the day before wedding, they were very nice and confirmed all requests AND was told in addition to the already paid for upgrade, I'd get another, since it's our wedding night and my status as a HH member. As a HH member, I expect some sort of special acknowledgement, especially when I wasn't asking for any freebies by any means and simply expected to get what I already paid for. When we arrived at the hotel, they had difficulties finding our reservation and when they did they said "Oh it's your wedding night (I was still in my wedding dress), your getting an upgrade". Great, I thought, that makes up for us standing at reception for 25 minutes while they look for our reservation. We went up to the room and it was the room upgrade I already paid for?! Ok, not a big deal at all. It was a lovely room over looking the pool. However, there was no champagne or fruit platter in the room! So I called front desk and the person said they would call me right back. Ahh, 15 minutes later I called down again. They couldn't locate the request, when they finally did, after I expressed how extremely disappointed I was they suddenly found it. Sorry this is a long rant, I'll sum up the rest... We uncovered the comforter and the bed sheets had dried stained blood! Gross! Is this a Hilton or motel 6?! We went down to dinner and housekeeping changed our sheets. Executive Breakfast was the worst I seen at any Hilton. Employees were nice, location great, grounds pretty, but clearly no attention to detail with guest requests. I will not return, and will spread the word on my disgust. read more

They told us they were giving us an upgrade because it was my wife's birthday but they knowingly gave us a room where they knew the previous customer had been smoking heavily. They tried to cover it up, air out the room and lie to us. Apparently customers do smoke in the rooms and pay more. When we got in the room, we smelled the smoke instantly. We asked for another room, they told us they were full and could not help us. Then when we checked out they told me the manager would call, which he never did. The male concierge in the evening and the male concierge during the day think they are clever and fooling you but they are pretty obvious and subtly bitchy. Avoid this place. Honesty is not their strong suit and that should make anyone very uncomfortable. read more

The Hilton was chosen because it supposedly be a nicer hotel, plus it's a skip to downtown Del Mar where I was there to attend a wedding (and shopping). At a glance, the hotel was somewhat pleasing to the eye. The Gold-Star status room was large in size with an impressively roomy bathroom. Had a relaxing martini at the hotel bar before heading out to dinner (restaurant review coming next). A couple glasses of a very nice wine at dinner had put me in a perfect state for some R&R at the hotel. I hate to say but it was a restless night. First of all I thought someone in the room next door had a bladder problem because the toilet I kept hearing it go off every five minutes. I couldn't really make a complaint about someone's...well, you know. The next morning, I discovered the noise actually came from my own toilet (had bathroom doors closed during the night). I studied the problem and requested a maintenance person to remedy it. It should have been easy -- I've done it at my house. I deliberately stayed away for 40 minutes for the job to be completed. Returned to the room only to discover the problem was not resolved. (sigh) To make a long story short, I had to move rooms twice and was sneered at by a Front Desk employee for speaking up (in a nice and calm manner). What ever happened to the "customers are always right" credo in the service industry? I was only seeking a quiet room catch some peaceful zzzzzz....Simple! The hotel's not bad. Great location being across from the race track, not just for the races, but the fairgrounds as well, not a long walk at all. Save parking and avoid DUI. The place is amazing large. The pool is gated and gorgeous, outdoor seating and fire pits, newly remodeled and fun bar with loys of activity. Food is reasonable, and the drink process are not out of control. rooms are large and nice, although sometimes the view can be on the lame side seeing a parking lot and if your at the end of the building housekeeping is a a challenge in making up your room. Front staff is kind and always accommodating, they are very quick to respond to your needs. Free Wi Fi and the computers in the lobby are printer friendly and do not require funny codes and open to browsing. Nice little library, great art work. worth a visit. Not far from del mar downtown(1.5 miles) or Solano Beach also 1.5 miles where the train will take you anywhere, fun trip even for locals. Walking distance from the fish market if you want a change from the in house dinning. read more

Upon arrival, they said they never made a note of that and had booked us rooms on DIFFERENT FLOORS. Strike one. We ended up just consolidating to one room with a rollaway bed. We asked the rollaway to be sent up immediately, we waited for 45 minutes before finally calling and inquiring about it. Strike 2. They said they would be right up, but we had to leave for dinner so we left. When we returned for the night, the cot was there which was fine. We got ready for bed and settled in, when we hear what sounds like GUN SHOTS and screaming happening at the pool. It was a very rude family slapping around pool noddles. Of course, after 30 minutes of this, we called down to place a noise complaint because we had to get up early the next morning.. Even after the complaint this went on for another hour because they never addressed the family. Strike 3. Then we get a call from the front desk at 11 pm (after we had all finally fell asleep) asking us if we still want a rollaway bed?! We had made the request for the bed probably 7 hours before that call and received that cot probably 6 hours prior to that call, and they're now CALLING us to talk about it?? Where is their communication with each other or the notes being made on the room?? Strike 4. The next morning we struggled for probably 15 minutes to exit the parking lot because their key card exit system DOES NOT WORK. Our room key was brand new, functional, never near a phone. It's not the card that was the issue, It's their system. Strike 5. We pushed the "call for help button" probably 30 times to have each call end with "cannot be completed as dialed". So not only does their system NOT WORK, but you can't call for help! Strike 6. We were late for our meeting because of their failing system. We then had placed noise complaints each following night about our neighbors in the adjoining room (you know, the room we had originally requested). They constantly SCREAMED and yelled and banged on the walls.. On more than one occasion they tried to open the adjoining door and enter our room.. Clearly a family without manners, which the hotel cannot control, however I never once saw someone approach the room to address the complaint and we never heard them get a phone call. Basically, complaints mean nothing to this staff. Strike 7. We mad miserable sleep each night and an awful experience with almost every element of this hotel. Very surprising considering how expensive the rooms are and how nice the hotel appears. You're better off going to the motel 6 if you're actually wanting sleep during your stay. I understand the review is harsh but it's very honest, and this comes from someone who is meek and tends to brush off problems rather than complain. read more

Basically, complaints mean nothing to this staff. Strike 7. We mad miserable sleep each night and an awful experience with almost every element of this hotel. Very surprising considering how expensive the rooms are and how nice the hotel appears. You're better off going to the motel 6 if you're actually wanting sleep during your stay. I understand the review is harsh but it's very honest, and this comes from someone who is meek and tends to brush off problems rather than complain. read more

Here's the 411 - We won a gift certificate voucher for a one night stay to this hotel while attending a charity event for friends. Even though we live in SD, we were super excited to get a night out. So....Several weeks before we wanted to make our single night reservation, we called to reserve a room. The lady who answered was very friendly and told us they absolutely had availability for that day and began with the reservation. We went ahead and mentioned we had a voucher for a free night ahead of time just for a heads up, but she immediately said, "oh, wait. I'm sorry, I'm gonna have to transfer you to in-house reservations." We then got directed to a personal voicemail to different lady, where we leave a message with all the info. At this point I'm sort of confused as to why the front desk couldn't just handle the call. Whatever. After receiving no call back the second day, we called again the third day. This time we immediately asked for in-house reservations (we know the drill) where again- what do you know- we were greeted with the same voicemail. Again, left a message. After no calls back EVER regarding the voicemails, and our desired date was fast approaching, we called yet again and tried to go through the front desk instead. Again, we were told that they have "plenty of availability for that day" and began taking our info. Shocker- once we told her that we had the voucher, we were immediately placed on hold. This time they added an element of surprise though, because we were sent right back to the operator. It was like this woman just didn't even want to handle the call or know what the hell to do. So again, like puppets, we pressed the button for reservations and were greeted by a new voice at the front desk- and get ready- he knew nothing about us being on hold or anything. Are these reservationists not right next to one another for God's sake?? Anyhow, pleaded our case to this guy hoping and praying he would be the voice of reason. He almost sounded like he was going to help, but then suddenly we are blind sided by, wait for it....oh holy friggin hell. Yep, he sent us to in-house friggin reservations. Not even a warning this time. Son of a b. Here's the kicker. In-house reservations come to find out, is actually just one lady, Jennifer. And she's never answered the phone on any attempt. Stupidly left another voicemail saying what we've been going through to just redeem our friggin hotel night and to please call back ASAP. To our surprise, hell froze over, because she actually called back within five minutes. I was beginning to think she didn't even exist. Super excited, we told her our situation, told her what our date was, and she responded with, "oh, I'm so sorry. We expect we just may sell out that night. We can't accommodate you. Is there another night?" Wait- What the hell?? Let me get this straight. The front desk just said you have 'plenty of availability' and now you're telling me you're "holding" those rooms just in case you....sell out? Wow. After this conversation, I even put it to bed for a while and even forgot about the damn thing. A couple of months passed by (apparently enough time to forget the pain and anguish) and tried again. Jumped through the same stupid hoops and managed to get Jessica on the phone again after a week. Unfortunately it was Friday at that point. She said she would work with us and would call back Monday morning. Guess what? No call back. Called and left a message again and haven't heard back. That was months ago. Thanks Hilton. Fact- you're not honoring a gift certificate that you donated to a charity event. This is appalling to me. What I gather from all of this is that the Hilton company cares far more about making money- even so far as to put people on the way, way back burner in the event that a cash customer may-- or may not-- walk in the lobby for a room on that same night. So-- why do you even donate to charity events?? To try and gain a false reputation that you're actually charitable when you're not? Sounds like you're hoping some of those people at the event will actually be "paying customers" and the person who actually won the voucher is shit out of luck. I want to write a new review for the Hilton San Diego/Del Mar. I had made a reservation through an outside vendor for this hotel and cancelled the reservation. Unfortunately, there was a bit of miscommunication. I want to thank Karmina Valdez, Director of Guest Services for reaching out to me and for resolving the miscommunication. She was so helpful and kind. I would definitely recommend the Hilton after her follow-up with me. read more

I'm giving this hotel one star even though it doesn't even deserve that. The front desk was friendly until I had to talk to the front desk manager, believe her name was Karena. She was very very very rude and talked to me in a tone of voice as if I was stupid or something. Remember this is the beginning of my trip, and already I didn't feel welcomed. Her horrible service made a huge impact on my mood and I really wanted to leave. I've stayed at other Hiltons before this ones by far the worse. I only got direction on how to get to my room but was not told what the place has to offer or anything. Will not be coming back and would NOT recommend!!! read more

I was looking for a room in SD and came across a fab deal for this hotel. I booked it. And received a confirmation email. Days later I received an email from Jennifer Lee saying that I booked welcome drinks and parking but not the room- my confirmation email showed accommodations as well. It was obvious that they made an error on their side and didn't want to honor the price. No apology. Just excuses. Not good customer service. Not impressed. read more

The only thing this hotel can boast are the common areas: lobby, fire pits, & bar area. The rooms look nice in the pictures, but what they don't show are the patched up bath tubs, grim and mold in the corners from bad housekeeping, greasy light switches, loose electrical sockets coming off the walls, and just overall dusty & dirty bathrooms. Oh,there are no towel bars so good luck with that. We were told the handicap room we reserved had a lower tub, when we got to the room, it had absolutely no tub. It was a standup shower for a wheelchair to toll into and the front desk girl lied right threw her teeth saying there were no other rooms available. After we told another front desk employee she miraculously found us a non-handicap room...ugh! Even though they got us another room, the customer service was horrible. No hospitality skills whatsoever. The valet guy was the only person who made an effort.Room service, we ordered 2 desserts and they only brought one silverware set... Really!? read more

The room was okay, but $20 per night for parking was unexpected and excessive. Also, the staff initially gave us a crappy small room without a bathtub. We requested another one since kids wanted to use bathtub, and they gave us one since the hotel was half empty, but we were offended nevertheless. We stayed here for our trip to Legoland, and it was probably a mistake. We just slept here without using any other amenities, and for that, some place like Holiday Inn Express closer to Legoland would have worked better, which we only found out when we stayed there for last night of our trip. read more

It was a very nice hotel but it is not for familys. if you are a couple with no kids this is a perfect hotel for you. On the other hand the rooms were beutiful they had a a very modern feel to them and very nice. The staff there was very helpful and kind. for an example when I got to my room after a meeting I wanted to turn on my tv but it was not working and I called the front desk and they sent some up to fix right away so that was wonder ful. I would come back there for business but not for a family vaction. read more

Not so much! You would expect more from a Hilton, the most I can say is thank god the room was clean and the linens were clean.

I stayed here for a week and really enjoyed my stay - made better with an upgrade, club access, and no parking fee. Hotel location is great, convenient to everything; however be warned that there's not much within walking distance just a few good restaurants. Food was good and service was friendly all-round. Everything has been recently renovated and the pool area looks great. Room was good as well, with the only fault being a very slow draining shower - but it was fixed within minutes of reporting it. Had a small patio too which was perfect for sitting in the morning with a cup of coffee. Will definitely be staying again and would recommend it! read more

I had to make sure to thank Desmar (hope I spelled his name correctly), who was part of the check-in staff on Friday, August 1st for accommodating our large wedding party and showing the utmost patience and professionalism for our drunk a*ses. Not only that, after his shift he went out of his way to introduce our guests from out of town places (bars) to visit in Del Mar where one of our friends had such a good time, he got arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct. But that's another story. One of the most outstanding services that the Del Mar Hilton provides is a free shuttle that will take you within a five mile radius within the city of Del Mar. Since our wedding venue was at the Powerhouse Community Center off Coast Blvd and 15th st., we had over 20 guests that stayed at the hotel that were able to shuttle back and forth without the need to worry about driving around intoxicated. Even one of our friends' wives felt so comfortable with the shuttle staff she hopped in the driver's seat and tried to drive back to the hotel herself. Again, because of the utmost professionalism of the shuttle staff overall, they decided it was best to let themselves do the driving. Needless to say, the Del Mar Hilton saved our group hundreds of dollars in fare costs. Thanks again to the accommodating front desk and shuttle staff, and if I could recommend an employee of the year, it would be Desmar. read more

Hilton DelMar is where my family and I have stayed the last five plus years as we come to the fair yearly. This year we checked in on Sunday the 9 th of June and have had the worst time with our room and the caring of the front desk to make sure things are done. An example would be the ice machine being out on our floor since the 9th, maintenance is suppose to be fixing it still as I write this it is not fixed. Second example is a dirty sheer curtain in our room looks like something was spilt or touched on it, again I asked front desk to have it changed since Sunday the 9th and again it finally got changed today the 15th. My twins have slept in a bed with totem sheets since Sunday and it is stated that sheets are changed every three days, obviously not true the got changed today the 15th also. We asked for a roll away for my special needs son and we checked in at 3:30pm and he goes to bed at 8 pm. We had to call front desk several times to finally get the bed at 8:30 pm. Yesterday the 14th walk down to front desk spoke with the manager on duty and made a complaint about how disappointed I was at staying at this Hilton and the service we have received. She said the room would be made by 12 pm on the 15th. We left the hotel at 10:30 to return at 2:50 pm and as you can guess the room was not made up. Very disappointed and will not and would not recommend this sloppy, not taken care of hotel "Hilton" to anyone. read more

We booked a little "Stay-cation" at the Del Mar Hilton last weekend to celebrate our anniversary, (Thanks Yolanda for your help). The room was very spacious and I thought the bed was super comfortable. What struck me as superb customer service, was every employee from the front desk to the house keeping staff were very friendly and acknowledged us with a cheerful greeting and offer to assist. We were prepared to take an Uber down to watch the sunset, but the front desk (sorry I didn't catch his name) told us about the FREE shuttle within 5 miles. Our driver (Steven) was very friendly, obviously loved his job, and was a pleasure. Looking forward to another visit to the Del Mar Hilton. read more
