First impression? This felt like the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach... just a little smaller. LOL. The property itself is beautiful in that classic coastal resort kind of way, with views of the golf course, the ocean in the distance, and a very relaxed La Jolla/Torrey Pines vibe. Our room views definitely helped make the stay feel more special, especially the main room with the large outdoor terrace. That patio space alone was a huge plus. That said, the hotel does feel a bit dated. The facilities, rooms, carpeting, and furniture could definitely use some updating. Getting around the property was also a little confusing with the north/south layout, and the signage could be better. For a resort this size, having only two operating elevators on each side was a bit of a pain, especially with no obvious stairway access. The hotel has great bones, but it does feel like it's due for a refresh. On the positive side, the rooms were clean, comfortable, and spacious. We also loved the relaxing scent in the hallway - incense, maybe? Whatever it was, it gave the place a calm, welcoming feel every time we came back to the room. The staff we interacted with, from valet to bell service, were all warm, friendly, and helpful. On its own, I'd probably rate the hotel a low 4 out of 5. Nice property, great location, clean rooms, but definitely showing its age. What made this a 5-star experience for us was Farida at the Front Desk. She was outstanding. My wife and I are both Hilton Diamond members, and Farida really showed what great loyalty recognition should look like. We had booked two rooms, and she was warm, helpful, proactive, and went above and beyond to get both rooms with coastal views - with the main room having that awesome 350-square-foot outdoor terrace. The property is beautiful, with golf course views and some ocean views. My favorite place to hang out is on their terrace that overlooks the golf course and ocean. However, their rooms are old. My room had a musty smell (1 star off). I opened my patio door for a bit, but that did not help. The beds are comfortable, but the room setup is very basic. The rooms are on par with a medium-priced motel: evidence of wear-and-tear, older furniture, and minimal toiletries. The room phone had static. Even the bath towel was small. They offered a pool view or ocean view. I chose ocean view, but there was no ocean view. See photo. Maybe they meant the room *faced the direction* of the ocean? Since I was here for work, one of the biggest inconveniences during my stay was lack of or slow internet (1 star off). There is no cell signal on the property so you must purchase WiFi. I am a Hilton Honors member and am supposed to get free WiFi, but the connection did not work for some reason. After some back and forth, the staff gave me a promotional code for WiFi instead. I used their WiFi to watch a work training video online and the video would stall every 30 seconds and on multiple days. Basic emailing was fine. My work paid for my room, but their system did not register this. Two receptionists insisted the room was not paid for. I had to go back to my work to get verification that it was paid for and then showed them. Then they finally found the payment in a different system. Either their billing system is wonky or their staff is inexperienced. Drink tickets are stamped daily, i.e. you cannot batch them and use them together all in one day. I am not a big drinker, so this did not affect me. If you are someone who could use couple drinks after experiencing all of the above, then thread lightly. read more

We attended a reception here last night for a professional business conference mixer. The setup was in a downstairs foyer area with a patio and views of the water. It was a wonderful setup. The event had an open bar with beer or wine choices and well made Hor D'ourves. Some included: Fresh Shrimp Spring Rolls, Tempura Shrimp, Beef Wellington minis, 2 charcuterie boards, and about 3 other delicious choices. The evening was a quick 1.5 hour mixer and it was great. The restrooms were very well cleaned and maintained. I went upstairs to sit in the lobby at the end of the event. Because it was at night, I could not see the view of the ocean nor cliffs, but I was able to see the pool at night. My only advice to Hilton is that this place needs some updating/sprucing up. I know that it is a couple of weeks after The Farmers Open, but it's time to make some moves before the Spring Break families and singles come to stay. read more

I stayed here one night bc it was convenient, and I am a Hilton Diamond member. There were positives and negatives, but the negatives were too much for me to give more than 3 Stars. Positives: Excellent customer service. Fabiana checked me in and I was thankful my room was ready early. She upgraded my room, asked me whether I wanted points or a food & beverage credit, gave me two waters and two drink tix. Contrast the foregoing warm welcome vs my negative stay at the Conrad at Resorts World in Vegas (also a Hilton property): I received none of the foregoing at the Conrad, although I am entitled to all of them; Big room; Located adjacent to Torrey Pines golf course; Negatives: Issues w/ the gym. First of all, this is a big property, but the gym is tiny for a place that charges a $36 resort fee. Secondarily, my room key wouldn't open the gym door. No one inside seemed willing to help, so I walked upstairs to get a new key. However, the new key didn't work either. I banged on the door the second time, and got someone's attention. There was one bench and someone was using it. So I started to adapt the one weight machine for chest workout. Then some guy says he was using that machine: Last time I saw you, you were on the phone. Then he says he was on the phone for 30 sec (more like 2 min+). I hate people w/ shitty gym etiquette, esp when the space is limited. The guy on the bench wasn't much better. He hogged the bench for at least 30 min; Other negatives: $47/night self-parking fee; Dated decor; Most rooms are far from the elevators due to the odd design of the hotel; Although having a decent gym is important to me when traveling, I would stay here again despite the shitty gym and rude guests. I'm a frequent visitor at Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines and a Hilton Honors member. Yesterday I attempted to checked in but was told my room was still not available. My wife and I sat in the lobby in plain view of the 3 front desk staff members. We waited for an hour until 4:30pm before our room was finally available. That is 30 minutes after the official checkin time. During our 1 hour wait I spoke to each of the 3 front desk staff members to request any update on the status. I was told it was ready but needed a final inspection. After 30 minutes none of the staff bothered to let us know when the room was eventually ready to provide us with the key even though they knew we were waiting in plain sight. Hilton overall does not understand hospitality even though that's the basis of their business. No compensation or apology was offered. This leads me to believe they simply do not value my business. It's interesting how the check in times are now 5 hours after check out times and Hilton staff doesn't care to apologize for making a Hilton Honors member wait beyond the published & expected check in time with no compensation. I will take future business elsewhere. read more

Girl at the front desk didn't know much about anything. Didn't really tell me about the place or where I could find anything and also when I asked her about my $30 credit per day I asked what it would cover in the marketplace or in the restaurant and she had no idea. But she did tell me that I would get $30 per day not per night. Her name was Angela. She was terrible and she told me wrong. I had to figure all of the stuff out at the end of the day. The plugs in the room by the desk did not work so they had to come fix that. When I went to eat dinner in the first night downstairs, I loved the sliders, but they took forever and I don't know why because there was hardly anyone down there. It was also hard to get the bartenders attention because they were basically trying to clean up the bar, even though they didn't close until 11 and I was there 8 to 9-ish and they were getting ready for the next day. When I finally got up to leave that's when they finally came over and I asked what is the surcharge on the receipt was and of course the bartender rudely looks at the receipt first and then puts it away. Instead of answering my question first. I tipped them, but after that last interaction, I wanted to take my tip back. He couldn't explain it and he was kind of rude about it. He said none of it goes to them. Which he meant, none of that surcharge money goes to them as a tip, but it does go towards their minimum wage because the hotels can't afford California minimum wage. Take it from another state or something, but don't expect it from customers Hilton. Pay your people because you guys have money by the way you charge for these hotel rooms. And he wasn't even the person that served me. Like how dare he thinks he deserves my tip money when he didn't do anything.... So weird.... The other one was nice but I had to wait for a menu and then I had to wait for my wine and then I had to wait for a new glass because the first glass had lipstick stains all over it. How do you miss that? And then, of course I waited for the sliders. Also, what is with all of the hair in the bathrooms. The last time I stayed at a Hilton....It was in Long Beach and there was hair all over the bathroom floor. This time the hair is all over the shower walls. And the CEILING! Do they not clean anymore? It's my pet peeve when there's hair all over the place I don't even like my own hair in my own house all over the place I pick it up and I throw it away. I don't understand why it's not hard to take a Clorox wipe and just wipe it off the shower wall really quick. It just makes me wonder if they actually get cleaned.... Also, the marketplace says it's open 10 to 10 but it's not. You have to go get a manager to unlock the door to purchase something. I wanted a yogurt with fruit the next morning. They didn't have one at the little coffee place there but I remember seeing it inside the marketplace. She said you had to scan a code or go get the manager. I was like I don't wanna do all that. Also, when I arrived and I just wanted to drop off my stuff, he made me give him my keys. I just wanted to check in drop off my bags and then move my car to the garage. But he had to take my keys and then when I came back, my car had been moved. I do not like people driving my car. That's why I never valet but normally at Hotels you can leave your car in the front drop off your bags and then come back and move it. Ugh. While, it's really pretty here. I didn't even get to enjoy the scenery at all because I was here for work at the convention center and at work all day. I only saw it at night. I was just disappointed. read more

My wife and I, along with two other couples, stayed at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines from June 19-21, 2026, and unfortunately, it was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we have ever had. We arrived at approximately 4:00 PM. Two of our three rooms were ready, but we were told the third room was still being cleaned. After waiting an additional hour, the room was finally made available around 5:00 PM. After a long drive, this was an unacceptable delay. The rooms were located on the first floor with very little natural light, making them feel dark and uninviting. Throughout the hotel, the carpeting appeared old and worn, and the entire property is in desperate need of renovations and upgrades. For a Hilton property in such a prime location, the condition of the hotel was extremely disappointing. The next morning, we paid $36 per person for the breakfast buffet, expecting a quality dining experience. Instead, we found bugs in the food. The buffet offered a very limited selection, and the overall quality was poor. Charging premium prices for such a substandard breakfast is unacceptable. The worst part of our stay involved the food service. On the evening of June 20, around 10:00 PM, my wife ordered a hamburger and fries from the hotel. Approximately three hours later, she became extremely ill. She experienced severe bloating, excessive gas, diarrhea, and continuous, violent burping. Concerned that her illness was related to the meal, we went to the bar where we had ordered the food and informed the staff. Their response was simply, "We hope you feel better." There was no concern, no attempt to investigate, and no effort to assist us. The following day, we spoke with a very pleasant employee named Dana. My wife explained everything that had happened. Dana took her name, phone number, and email address and assured us that she would discuss the matter with the Food & Beverage Department and that a report would be prepared the next day. She instructed us to contact the hotel to obtain a copy of the report. Today, June 22, I called the hotel twice. I left my first message at 2:18 PM Arizona time and a second message at 4:32 PM. Neither call has been returned. The lack of follow-up is just another example of the poor customer service we experienced throughout our stay. What makes this even more frustrating is that this hotel is not inexpensive. Guests pay premium rates and should expect clean facilities, quality food, responsive service, and management that takes customer concerns seriously. Instead, we encountered outdated accommodations, unacceptable food quality, a serious illness after eating on the property, and a complete lack of communication from management. The only positive aspect of this hotel is its location. Beyond that, our stay was expensive, frustrating, and deeply regrettable. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this property and would not stay here again. read more

The room was fine, roomy, okay view, but I was not happy with Lilly's service. Lilly who checked me in told me to go the wrong way to the parking garage and the wrong way to my room. I even asked her twice on each to confirm where she was directing me. She pointed to her left down the hallway and said that was the way to the elevators. She didn't tell me that there were TWO sets of elevators and the ones she sent me to was the exact opposite direction that didn't have my room # listed at all. I went up to the 4th floor anyway to give it a try and the maids said I had to go down to the lobby and take the elevators on the north side instead. Before that, Lilly had me waiting in the Honors line for a long time. I was waiting so long that the other lady at the front desk (very professional taller lady, looked maybe Asian) had to tell Lilly to help me bc I had been waiting there. When Lilly realized she left me hanging there she didn't apologize or anything and just decided to have a casual conversation with a co-worker before acknowledging my turn after I'm already standing in front of her . She also took such a long time on my reservation and tried to charge me full price and taxes and incidentals and $47 parking for an already billed out room. Oh which she didn't apologize for that either when I pointed it out to her and just said: "I see what you're saying". She didn't thank me for being a Diamond Member. She didn't tell me waters were in the room. I went to the shop and asked if waters were in the room and she said I didn't know so I bought drinks and snacks in case. Ludivina C charged me $49.78 for it and said she couldn't give me an itemized receipt when I asked bc she "already closed it out." I literally turned right around and asked for the receipt almost immediately after my purchase. The room is fine. It is roomy and the view is decent. It's NOT of the golf course. I'm a golfer staying on a golf course and a Diamond member but no view of it. Not happy she didn't even apologize for sending me the wrong way to my room just claiming she didn't know my rook wasn't that way. read more

Booking a tee time was incredibly easy and seamless, which took a lot of stress out of planning. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. It was perfect for relaxing after a long day on the course. Despite being in a great location, the hotel itself was quiet and peaceful, which we really appreciated. There are also plenty of dining options nearby, so we never had trouble finding great places to eat without having to travel far. A special shout-out to CHARLES at valet. He was consistently friendly, welcoming, and genuinely put a smile on our faces every time we arrived. His positive energy really stood out and added to the overall experience. The hotel not only instructed me to place my packages in the wrong area, but during my evening follow up - they confirmed that it would be picked up the next morning at 9am. My husband and I had a stay in Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines during the first week of April from Wednesday through Saturday. This was our first time in La Jolla, and this hotel is at a great location, right next to the ocean and just a few minutes away from La Jolla Village! As a Diamond Hilton Member, this hotel includes several additional perks such as a $30.00 food credit for 2 registered guests. The check-in process was a breeze. We arrived at around 8:00 P.M and we had a team member immediately greet us. As we were getting checked in, the Hilton team member provided us with a variety of local options and restaurants to check out while we were visiting La Jolla. After we checked into the hotel, we immediately went to our hotel room. There are two options for parking. You can choose the $40.00 a day for self-parking fee. The parking garage is easy to get to and use. There is also a $48 valet fee which you can choose as well. Our room was located on the 4th floor overlooking the pool. The room was relatively quiet. It featured a variety of amenities, including a TV, refrigerator, office chair, and desk. The bathroom only included a shower, no bathtub. I like how most Hiltons now have all of the Shampoos, Conditions, and Body wash within the shower unit attached to the wall! You don't have to worry about small plastic bottles anymore. The room was relatively spacious, though! There was also a closet to hang up any of your clothes if you wanted to! The hotel has a lot of amenities and activities that you can do. There is an ocean view and a view of the golf course, which is stunning! The hotel lobby has several areas where you can sit down and relax. Inside the hotel there are a few restaurants and quick service options Horizons Coffee Café (Lobby Level): Starbucks Coffee (6:00 A.M - 1:00 P.M daily) Torreyana Grill, 1st Floor (Breakfast 6:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.) (Lunch 11:00 A.M - 1:00 P.M) (Dinner 5:00 P.M - 9:30 P.M) Pacific View Pool Bar (Poolside bites and beverages) Hours are from Friday - Sunday 11:00 - 6:00 P.M There is a workout facility and a pool on-site. The pool temperatures during the fall, spring, and winter are around 87. The pool access is open between 6:00 A.M - 10:00 P.M. Daily. There is also a spa! The resort pass also includes a variety of daily amenities such as Access to Shirley's Sports Complex. (Closed on Sunday) On property games, pool toys, and yoga equipment and much more! If you need any additional amenities, you can text the specified hotel phone number or call the front desk. If you request housekeeping services, you'll need to submit it by 11:00 P.M. the day before in order to schedule service for the next day. We enjoyed our stay at Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines and would come stay here again if we were visiting La Jolla or in the San Diego area! read more

Asian lady at the front desk refused to give us waters after staying for a night and purchasing all our food there and paying for valet. We have stayed at Hilton for years? Maybe we won't anymore. Our food was not good, and the poolside area needed expansion it was so so cramped maybe four tables on the patio outdoor dining and no one even came to help us. Huge conference and one waiter the whole time with one bartender until maybe 3.00pm. With one food runner. There was no beach access at all because the reserve was closed today and their hike was closed with no shuttles to the beach? $30 to get to the beach? I mean it makes me sick how awful it was. ???? Personally I feel we should receive a partial refund at least. read more

We booked a night here as a "date night" for us to connect and get away from the kids for the night and it was delightful. We had dinner there (way too fancy for us!) ... and then moved to the bar. The people were so cool... we stayed and talked to people at the bar until way too late and didn't get to experience the pool or hot tub... but it looked awesome! If I could give negative stars, I would..This place was an absolute sh!thole.. I reserved the Coastal Vista view suite..with the view of the ocean, golf course and private wrap around balcony. A $3,000 weekend.. We were not given the room I paid for or reserved. The front desk then tells me it's not the same looking because that room was on the first floor. Then proceeds to tell me, oh you're lucky because we have another room that "just became available.". Really? It's almost 10:00 at night.. All the sudden??? We go to the new room. Same thing but with a little balcony. Room was dated, filthy and barely even worth $80 a night. These people are seriously reserving with blatant false advertisements. We checked out within 2 hours and I will be disputing any charges on my Black Card. read more

The room was spacious and had the usual amenities. We usually stay at Hilton portfolio hotels and this felt just like home. They have a great bar, large pool and gold course. They do charge for self parking and valet. No surprise there as that seems to be normal everywhere. read more

Not what I expected for a Hilton property & based on the high room rate pricing, it was very disappointing. The building inside is old, dark & dated. The outside needs alot of maintenance (building needs repainting). swimming pool & workout room were just average. Most of staff members I encountered were not friendly. Mostly, the room needed remodeling. Only one sink in the bathroom & the bathroom door did not close. Room was very dark & not clean (sticky counter). At first I was thankful we had a balcony. .. yes it had a bad view but I didn't mind, until my husband & I tried to stand out there - only to find they gave us a room on the end right next to a gigantic HVAC system that gave off a large annoying sound that was intolerable!!!! There were 6 other guests that was part of our party & they all had similar issues with this hotel. Torrey Pines Hilton is off the list & I was generous giving it a 2 rating. read more
