Covid sign at check-in / lobby

M & I were pleased w/ past stays here & especially during this Covid period. Our only complaint was that people greeting us & checking us in -Altho' they were behind the 3/4-height plastic partitions - were NOT wearing masks! I'm more sensitive about these matters especially since I'm disabled, seriously immunocompromised & at high-risk. However, I applaud Hilton's efforts to ensure that everywhere else on this property was made to be Covid-safe. Every employee we encountered wore their masks correctly (vs 1/2 mask down displaying nose + mouth). There were air filtering systems every 8-10' in the common hallways where our guest rooms were. Dining areas were closed off & not in use during Covid stay (July & Aug 2020) & our King room- which was immaculately cleaned before we stayed there - required no further cleaning services & Hilton even mandated that no one other than the hotel guests staying there was allowed in the guest rooms. HILTON, THANK YOU for thinking of & executing these measures seamlessly. We will continue to be loyal customers, if all Covid-safety measures are of highest priority & are consistently enforced to protect hotel guests. Altho' it was unspoken while we were there...Best if you could also mandate 1 family per elevator so that social distancing is enforced further.

Anytime I go to Maine, I try to stay here. Although it's not exactly close to Portland, it is close Bath, where I typically conduct business, and it's right in the middle of downtown Freeport. To start, guests are always welcomed with fresh warm cookies upon check-in. The staff has always been nice and accommodating to my needs. The rooms are spread across three floors, they are modern and clean with flat screen tv, comfortable beds, and clean bathrooms. I've never eaten dinner at the restaurant before, but breakfast is nice. If you are not a gold member and have to pay for breakfast, you can get pastries and fruit for about $5, or you can have a hot breakfast including made to order eggs for about $10. The bar is nice, stocked with some good local beers and a couple tv's. They also have live entertainment occasionally. Parking is across the street in a private lot.

    View from sitting area.

Does your idea of visiting Maine include active train tracks 20 feet from your room (including your bedroom)? Then this is the place for you! At almost $400 per night you can get a 5 am wake up call from Amtrak's DownEaster. Avoid this hotel.

WEBSITE & BOOKING A ROOM: - Mapped out website to understand more about the inn & policies. - Easy to navigate, view room availability & select desired room. - Wonderful photos of each room with sq. ftg. noted. - Lots of information of what's around / things to do in the area. INNKEEPERS: - The level of communication is great. I had sent an email with additional questions & was answered timely. They also use a method of texting as well as leave their phone #'s. - We paid for a 12pm check-in & Dave greeted us. He gave a tour & a mini history lesson about the building, which was so interesting! - Kelleigh waited on us for breakfast & was delightful. She'd engage in quick conversation & swiftly served us each course. THE ROOM (#4 - PERMQUID POINT LIGHTHOUSE): - Super clean, cozy & romantic. - The queen bed was comfortable with many layers of sheets, a down comforter & quilt-like blanket on top. - The (2) chairs by the window served as a nice area for me & my husband to enjoy a beer from the "Big Brewstah" keg & chat. - There are robes with slippers which make the stay all the more comfortable. - The thermostat is programmed, but it's allowed to change the temperature. - There isn't a mini fridge in the room (not sure if there are in the other rooms). 3-COURSE BREAKFAST: - Served ONLY between 8am to 9am (as long as you arrive in that hour). They do ask if there are any dietary restrictions prior. - As previously mentioned, Kelleigh was our server & hostess. - The hot coffee is French pressed & packed with flavor. - Dave has some serious cooking skills & we appreciated the use of locally sourced, fresh ingredients. - It was a very filling & delicious menu that Dave creates uniquely for each morning. ADDITIONAL NOTES & TIPS: - The parking is a bit tight; there are (3) spots at the front of the inn or the overflow is at the end of the driveway. - Each room has a key & a deadbolt (which can only be locked from the inside). - Downstairs area, neighboring the dining room, there is a living room area with shelves of books & a few games. - The busy season for the Brewster House B&B is around the 4th of July.

We loved being able to walk from the inn to restaurants and shops in Freeport. Most appreciated was their thoughtfulness of providing delicious homemade gluten free food to accommodate my allergy. At night we played games in the parlor while enjoying the delicious warm homemade gluten free cookies. In the morning the three course breakfast was really delicious, especially the gluten free banana scones with maple. I highly recommend staying at the Kendall Inn.

As drizzly rain began, hubs settled down at the puzzle table for the evening! Fresh baked cookies are available in the evenings as well, served with cold milk. The rooms are well appointed with updated bathrooms. The Inn is close to anything you might need to get to in Freeport. Breakfast was delicious as well! This inn provides all the cozy things ~ coffee available in the morning, a selection of other coffees and teas available via Keurig at other times. My only complaint is that the bedside lighting in our room isn't sufficient for reading. Mood lighting ~ check. Reading ~ you'll need to use your phone or a flashlight. Or, perhaps the intent of a B&B, read in the common room with your fellow guests.
