Due to a series of unfortunate events, we ended up having to cancel our existing rental and quickly move to a hotel. The staff was nice enough to accommodate us, even though things were starting to book up and even gave us some breakfast vouchers as an empathetic "we understand what you're going through". The room was great and even the "no ocean view" gave us a very nice partial ocean view which we enjoyed. The hotel is a great location and central too many things you'll need for a family visiting. Definitely check out the wonderful coffee shop across the street from the gas station. One note for hotel staff, which I already provided feedback on, is that the staff attending to you during breakfast are very hit or miss. For example, when I asked for hot black tea, I was told they only had herbal tea. However, I know, for a fact, they had black tea as I saw others drinking it, and it was available in the rooms. Unfortunately they couldn't seem to find any, and I was given Lipton black tea instead, which was a disappointment for the amount of money we were paying to stay there the time it took for staff to wait on us was a Billy slow and each time we ordered the food that was delivered was either incorrect, cold or the waitress seemed utterly confused at what we were ordering or what we were asking for. I'm not sure she spoke more than a few words of English to be perfectly honest, and while I normally do not complain about such things, it greatly inhibited our ability to kick off the morning on a good note. Despite the restaurant, however, everything about the hotel and the front desk, staff, and the location were fantastic, and I would highly recommend.

We spent two nights at the Hilton Garden Inn, and we discovered a real gem on the Outer Banks! This comfortable beach hotel is like a little resort with indoor and outdoor pools, beachfront location, a restaurant that serves all three meals in season and breakfast and dinner off season, plus has a full bar. Most rooms have either a side or front view a view of the ocean and balconies. The hotel is clean and looks to be recently renovated. The beds are comfortable, and the rooms are quiet. The location is ideal in that you can easily drive up to Duck for its cute shops and restaurants or down to Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head for more restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. Parking is free. You just need to place a hang tag on your rear view mirror to show you are a guest at the hotel.

Look at that view. The drapes are dark and give a motel vibe in this $$$ hotel.

The Lobby is gorgeous but certainly does not reflect our hideously ugly room with its tiny bathroom and shower so small that you touch the walls the whole time you're in it. The accent walls are pink and the drapes are ugly dark leaf pattern, hardly reflecting the beautiful ocean view. I need to post a photo. Not having daily housekeeping is not appreciated.

Wry nice hotel on the beach. Staff have gone out of their way for us, just very pleasant and friendly. Hotel is clean and breakfast was good.

Aviator Restaurant has an excellent menu. Service is prompt very clean A health rating. Supper shrimp and grits and crab cakes are absolutely delicious The breakfast menu offers the Greek omlet and breakfast sandwich, both of which are healthy and all meals are generous portions .

We had a fantastic stay here. Great location right on the beach with free parking. The rooms were nice and much more updated than the lobby. We had some drinks at the bar which were good, but the lack of AC was in the lobby was our only small complaint. We could tell others at the bar were also hot -- the bartender informed us that they always keep it warm in there and it can get miserable. Both the indoor and outdoor pool was great, hot tub was nice, beach access was also appreciated. Price was reasonable and overall a great stay!

This is not a good place to stay if you want safety and a functioning room. I came here to get my little boy out of the house and see family here because my mom was passing away and it was too much for him. The first day I was unpacking my car around 5:00 and a man with a dog stood on the sidewalk by my car and stared at me and my son. He was about 3' from me and wouldn't move on. I stopped unloading and looked at him and his dog. He said oh don't worry he's friendly. I got annoyed he wasn't moving and making us feel scared. I told him to get his dog away then told my son to stay away from his dog. Hoping I gave a message to him to go away. The creepy man yelled at me to move my child. My son was scared and I was too so we talked to the front desk and the police. The front desk knew who he was. He lived across the street and the police found him and talked to him. The lady at the front desk was nice and refunded me for the night which was so sweet. The next morning I booked another room but had to move rooms because they said they didn't have anymore open and were booked even though it's January. So I got a more expensive room and the heat was really loud so they had to replace it. They were drilling etc. my mom was in her last few hours that day. Then I had a water leak in the bathroom. Another person had to come. Then I put my son in the shower and the water barely came out then stopped coming out for a moment. I called again and then asked for a manager but they never got back to me. My mom passed away that day and I was on FaceTime with my dad as she passed. I booked a third night and asked the front desk what was happening and why no one fixed my water and why no one called me yet. It just was not handled well. A call would've been nice but at this point I would never stay here again. I ran into a couple that were having a terrible stay as well and said they would never come here again. It's so sad that places are run like this. Even if my mom wasn't passing away, I would expect to have a nice peaceful stay. All I can say to people reading this is this is just not run well and I bet eventually people will not stay here because the word is getting out.

2nd time staying at this place. Two years ago, it was phenomenal. This year they did renovations which were nice however the quality of the staff, housekeeping and service in general is sub par. We booked for 6 days had to ask for towels and toilet paper everyday. Room was serviced only one time and that's only because I complained. Was told by mgmt that it would be serviced daily and that was not true. Our toilet seat was broken I notified front desk but sadly had to fix it myself daily. The pool was dirty and had not been skimmed until myself and other guests skimmed it. Sand is all over the bottom of the pool. They have a pool vacuum but it doesn't work properly. We will not return. Also if you are elderly or physically disabled you will not be able to sit at a table by the pool they are all bar height.

The Aviator Bar and Bistro are in the Hilton Garden Inn located in Kitty Hawk, NC. The Hilton is brand spanking new. It's excessively clean and spacious. The restaurant is quaint and in an open space. The decor celebrates the accomplishments of the Wright brothers. The food was tasty but a bit pricey which is to be expected at a Hilton. Service was excellent however, the restaurant was not very crowded. There are so many restaurants in the area however, this was a convenient place to chow down after a long drive.

That said, the property is showing its age. The units still have outdated Dish TV service, and the curtains are faded and dated. Most of the furniture is cloth and overdue for replacement. The area rugs are also a concern--they seem a little smelly and retain sand, which makes them feel less than clean. Maintenance and management have noticeably declined. It's frustratingly hard to get in touch with someone when you need assistance. In short, you're paying for the location and ocean access, but the interiors and upkeep need serious attention. With some investment in updates and better guest service, it could return to being a top-tier beach property.

We found out when we walked in it was an utter mess. Wyndham Baymont gave us a second room. In the second room we discovered a water leak inside the bathroom coming from the second floor room above ours. Every time the occupants flushed the toilet water came through the vents and all over our bathroom. Wyndham Baymont gave us another room. We're now on our third room. You will see from the pictures the owner at Wyndham Baymont Kitty Hawk does not take care of the property. We understand these are COVID-19 times, but the manager has used this as an excuse to not repair and clean up the the hotel and outside grounds. The side doors of the hotel were not locked during the evening hours (a safety concern). The manager was absolutely useless she complained that she had to work 12 hours +plus a day. We never saw her and we we were never able to meet up and talk with her to discuss our concerns. She was always "unavailable". There are other hotel options in Kitty Hawk. I would not recommend Wyndham Baymont Kitty Hawk hotel for a stay. I would recommend this hotel be shut down for deep cleaning, along with structural and safety repairs. On the positive side the front desk people were very pleasant. The problem with this hotel is the manager who seems to have excuse after excuse why she can's make repairs or clean the hotel to make it minimally presentable.

First, some of the issues I have: The room layout puts one bed very close to the air conditioner and because they have the old-fashioned hotel style AC units, that leaves at least one person getting directly blasted with cold air all night. Using pool towel clips to put a towel over one side of the vent did help but reduced the efficacy of the AC and made the room warmer for everyone else. Breakfast is nice (and free) but the setup of it seems to be done as if this is a business hotel and not a beach front hotel. The cereal choices were all boring adult cereals, the bread for toast was VERY whole grain (as in it had pieces of grains in it), and the only milk they had was white milk (for example). Adding a small amount of more kid-friendly breakfast elements would go a long way. The outdoor pool is sheltered from the wind by the sand bank and gets really hot in the sun, a lightweight shade over the whole (or part of) the deck would probably be a welcomed addition by most people. As for what's great about this place: The location includes a beachfront pool + small snack shack with beach access which is directly across the road from the hotel itself. This gives the best of both worlds with beachfront access as well as having better parking and more room on the hotel property. On non-weekends the price is super affordable for a beachfront Marriott property. Not to mention the only Marriott property on the Outer Banks. It's very close to great food options, many walkable. Stuff for both adults and kids is easy to access. It's also not far to many interesting sightseeing or cultural things to see. All-in-all, I would love to see some minor changes but even with some flaws this is definitely a 5 star option.
