Wyndham Baymont Complaint We stayed at the Wyndham Baymont Kitty Hawk from June 12-15, 2020. When we initially checked in the room they assigned to us was not made up. We found out when we walked in it was an utter mess. Wyndham Baymont gave us a second room. In the second room we discovered a water leak inside the bathroom coming from the second floor room above ours. Every time the occupants flushed the toilet water came through the vents and all over our bathroom. Wyndham Baymont gave us another room. We're now on our third room. You will see from the pictures the owner at Wyndham Baymont Kitty Hawk does not take care of the property. We understand these are COVID-19 times, but the manager has used this as an excuse to not repair and clean up the the hotel and outside grounds. The side doors of the hotel were not locked during the evening hours (a safety concern). The manager was absolutely useless she complained that she had to work 12 hours +plus a day. We never saw her and we we were never able to meet up and talk with her to discuss our concerns. She was always "unavailable". There are other hotel options in Kitty Hawk. I would not recommend Wyndham Baymont Kitty Hawk hotel for a stay. I would recommend this hotel be shut down for deep cleaning, along with structural and safety repairs. On the positive side the front desk people were very pleasant. The problem with this hotel is the manager who seems to have excuse after excuse why she can's make repairs or clean the hotel to make it minimally presentable. read more

We stayed a total of four days here. At first I was very satisfied .On check out time the last day I turned the bed covers back all the way on my bed. There was a copious amount of blood and dried liquid on the side opposite my sleeping position. It was on the top cover and the sheet as well. The only way housekeeping missed this is if they did not change bed covers for FOUR days I was there. The blood was near the top of covers and looked as if it could have been from a tooth extraction. No thanks not staying here any more. read more

This place is an absolute junkyard! Our room was a joke. Nearly everything,, was broken! Even down to the locks on the door. Thankfully, the air conditioner blew cold air but something was wrong with the condenser so it was extremely humid. The beds were just OK. Staff are very unhelpful! Messed up our reservations even after they said they "took care of it". The place was rundown, not well maintained, and basically an absolute dive. read more

We chose this place due to proximity to the beach (super easy access! About a 5-10 minute walk, with crossing just one small road, then you're there!) and because of the price. We knew 4th of July week would be more expensive, so that's why we chose this place. We came here knowing it was a 3 star place... Just needed a clean room with a bed and shower! They let us check in early, which was nice. The front desk staff and the other hotel staff were friendly as well. They told us some good restaurant recommendations, that there's a shower behind the hotel to rinse off, and how to get to the beach from the hotel. Pros: AC saved us when we came back. They have breakfast in the morning, although I never ate it. Plenty of parking! Other than that... Yikes! There were a couple things wrong: the hotel room had a smell, they only gave us one soap bar (body soap?? Hand soap? We ended up using it for both haha), our card ended up not working even tho we didn't put it near our phones to demagnetize it, the hotel side doors that required card access didn't work so anyone could roam in, there were hair in the shower and toilet, the shower could be patched up with some paint, lots of sand (although it's a beach hotel so it's expected I guess?), and their beds are ooooooold! Very squishy mattress. I would've just better rated this place a 2 star. I've stayed at another cheaper motel in the area that was cleaner and didn't have so many issues come up. It did the trick if you're just absolutely looking for a place to sleep and a quick shower. Other than that, not a super chill room to hang out in. read more

Excellent location for the price. As others have alluded to, it's just a short sandy walk across N. Virginia Dare Trail to get to the beach. Easy enough with kids too. As for the hotel itself, it isn't fancy but that shouldn't be the point. I had a 2-double bed room with 4 occupants (2 kids). The beds themselves weren't as firm as I'd like but it is what it is. The cleanliness of the room was fine and the water pressure in the shower was EXCELLENT. The continental breakfast was a huge hit with my family. Excellent service (friendly) and food. Eggs everyday, biscuits, 4 different cereals, pancake maker, coffee, fruits, and a variety of meat (corned beef hash, ham, sausage). All in all I'd say the hotel serves its purpose. You could get a fancier hotel that is oceanfront but that's up to you to spend the money to do so. read more

We stayed in room 251 and right when we walked in it was disgusting. The room smelt like freshly smoked cigarettes, the metal flange around the shower handle had come off the wall and you could see the hole cut in the tile behind the knob. There were brown stains on the wall that had dripped down. Overall this hotel is like a giant cigarette box! read more

Oh! My! God! This place is absolutely DISGUSTING. I've stayed in some dumps before but this seriously out does them all! Upon arrival, the pool is closed... so you don't get that.... Then the room! Omg I don't even know where to start. My bed skirts both had some white stuff substance dripped all over them, hair in the bathroom on the toilet, floor and shower, shower head so covered in calcium build up, not to mention it still had a dirty towel hanging up! The toilet doesn't stop running, there was hair, HAIR ON THE BED! The fridge is covered in mold, bugs in the room, parts of the ceiling literally falling off in chunks, room smells like mold, ceiling tiles covered in mold and rust. A pill of some sort in the drawer... I'm just disgusted. I'm calling my booking site to get transferred somewhere, where I will feel comfortable. Don't book here... don't do it, go elsewhere because this is a nightmare.. Edit! THERES POOP! There is some sort of fecal matter under their table! Omg don't come here this is just awful. read more

Complained to the front desk around 430pm about someone smoking Marijuana on the second floor which made the entire floor stink like Marijuana. We were told by the front desk that they would look into it. We came back from dinner and around midnight the smell came back i called the front desk and they said they would look into it. He then knocked on my door and told me he really can't smell it, and I could have my money back and leave to find somewhere else? I'm active duty military and can't be around that stuff for one, and for two, why give me my.money back to leave and find somewhere else? What kind of ass backwards business is this? I'm very disappointed in how your employees run your hotel!! I wont be back ever!! read more

First time we stayed in july on second floor it was perfect. Second time we were on the first floor and had issues. Pros: great shower and comfy beds. Tv swivels and ac/heater worked well. Very close to beach and to our fav resturant, 'I got your crabs', which i highly recommend. Cons: first time none. Second time...ROACHES. We brought a tray of thanksgiving leftovers. We sat it down for 5 minutes and a roach had already gotten in. We immediately threw it away outside. For the remainder of the stay we saw baby roaches and a couple of big ones. We found roach traps that had been slid under the fridge. We later saw one on the ceiling when we left. Needless to say we did not eat the continental breakfast. The room had some damge and ceiling tiles did not look very nice. Overall, ok stay to sleep and watch tv and shower. If you plan to eat and keep food, look elsewhere. My guess is that the roaches keep to the bottom first floor. read more

Well, this certainly isn't going to help out the averages here. The middle entry way was dirty and didn't look like it was vacuumed but once a week. The air conditioning unit filters were disgusting and moldy and literally made the room smell like cold wet urine from a disgusting roadside rest area men's bathroom. Lastly in the morning, I went to open the curtains and discovered dried blood all over them. This should be all that needs to be said for this place. read more

Couldn't use external doors to get to our room. Was told that those doors often don't work with key cards. Had to actually ask how then to get into where our room was, as no further info offered. Room not finished. Open metal boxes in wall where toilet paper/tissues would be installed. Metal was rusting inside. Walls and ceiling were painted in splotches that looked like Kilz had been used as spot touch up for stains. Sink was crotch level to a 5'4" woman and no stopper, so too low and not really useful for a man to shave. The towel bar next to it was halfway up the wall so it hung at 6'. Tub faucet was broken and hanging out of wall. No running water. No bathing. Toilet ran all night. Every movement from floor above was loud as there is something wrong in flooring- creaking boards in a motel? And lastly, the privacy curtains at windows didn't meet and had so many holes throughout that we watched every car come and park just outside while I'm sure they did the same to us when our lights were on. Desk staff said thanks for letting us know shower is broken- so we can fix it for next guest! $200 room read more

We stayed in rm 126. Despite the pool being closed and no real breakfast other a granola bar and applesauce the rates should be cheaper. As soon as we arrived we had to ask for toilet paper. After me and my teenager tried to get the shower on we asked for assistance and was told they couldn't come in our room. I ended up calling the front desk very irritated and said they needed to get the shower on or offer a partial refund. Took about ten minutes for some one to show up and even they struggled to get the shower on. There is also mold in bathroom. Back home a room like this would cost $50 here it cost $170. I definitely would not stay here again not for that price. I stayed at a Hampton 2 nights ago a block or 2 away from the White House in DC for the same price and that included valet parking. read more

You definitely get what you pay for, that being said our nightly rate was $127 in June, the rooms (we booked 3) were clean and the manager very nice. To get the water running in 2 of the 3 showers we needed someone from the hotel to come show us how to turn the water on. The hotel itself seems very old and was dark, the hallway smelled like weed, at any given time. ‍ Beach access was great, located a block off the beach the hotel provided a path, would have been awesome if it was a paved path but still great access, hence the 3 stars! read more

This hotel has really impressed me. I actually was worried about how nice the place would be. Room was great, friendly staff. The bed and pillows were AMAZING! 5 stars!! My only negative comment would be that the tv was small - 19 inch ? But... we came for the beach and attractions. The path to the beach and s about a 5 minute walk, not bad at all. We were taking a last minute trip to OBX for the night & most hotels were booked (or super expensive) bc it was Easter weekend. Found the Baymont on Expedia & the price (and location) were perfect. We checked in around 230 Saturday & the lady at the front desk was super nice. We had a room on the first floor & had no complaints. There is a microwave in the room & if you have long, thick hair, make sure you bring your own hairdryer as the one provided would take you a week to dry your hair. The Baymont is a great location for beach access There is a path to walk across the street to the beach (a 2 minute walk). They also have a free continental breakfast in the morning. This is definitely a "no frills" hotel, so if you're looking for a high end place to stay, this isn't it. If you're looking for a clean & affordable place to stay, I highly recommend it. read more

I witness the sale clerk putting the food out for breakfast with her bare hands... no gloves, not once did she wash her hands as I sit there looking at her go back and forth from the storage area to the display of food. If I could rate lower, I would. We were turned away because of our service animals. I have never experienced that ever, and the owner never got back to me. My Wyndham points were never credited back to me either. My best friend and I booked this hotel 3 months out in preparation for her cousins wedding in NC. We instead decided to turn it into a nice four day weekend as opposed to just an overnight stay. After arriving at the hotel, we were really confused being that the pictures we saw online, didn't reflect the hotel in any way. Walking into the building, we noticed the overhang was coming apart. I cringed when I saw the 9ft ceilings and thought to myself, "this place is gonna be dirty." We waited in line to check in. We then really prepared for the worst when the family in front of us had to request a new room because the ceiling had partially fallen in. The clerk brushed it off as if it wasn't a surprise to her. We checked in and got to our room. The aroma immediately took me back to my old job in HVAC. Ahhhhh the nose curdling smell of mildew and still air. We tried turning the AC on and quickly realized that is was the source of it. The rooms condition was disappointing, sand still on the bathroom floor and near the front door. A mysterious black stain on the blanket, spare change to match the decor underneath the work desk, and scuffed and scraped furniture. We found various pieces of trash like a pen cap, a used straw, and more change! We then were concerned with the hygiene of the rest of the room like the sheets and bed. "If they didn't even run a vacuum or pick up the small stuff, did they bother to change the sheets?" Naturally we started looking for other hotels to stay at but being that it's fall wedding season in a popular section of NC. Everything was booked up through the weekend. I even called a friend who works for several competitors and said she didn't have anything. She also then informed me that the Baymont Inns are "One of the worst hotels in this area!" After the first night staying there, we realized the curtains didn't close all the way. While there were white privacy curtains, it would do nothing for blocking out the light in the morning. My best friend "MacGyvered" the situation by using the clips from one of the hangers and binding them together to avoid the 6:30am wake up call from the sun. All in all the hotel was the annoying step child we had to deal with every night after enjoying ourselves in this wonderful city. It was just a burden and an overall nuisance that we couldn't avoid. We've learned our lesson and will do more in depth reviews for our next stay. This hotel truly put a major damper on our mini vacation all for prices that we could've rented a larger and more comfortable Air B&B, for an even longer time period. Now, one of these problems (the damaged exterior) could be related to the recent hurricane that pummeled this area so with time, I imagine it will be fixed. Lastly, I highly recommend this hotel as a last resort for your getaway weekend behind sleeping in you car. read more

Arrived here last night after a long drive of 13 hours. Was greeted and then we checked in. Within minutes found out that I was charged already for both rooms when I had made reservations for two. I was very confused seeing that I have traveled all over the world and never have we been charged until you leave the room the next day. I said this to her and she said well our policy is we charge the card as soon as the cancellation time is up. Then I went to explain that I just used my card to hold the rooms and my mother was going to pay for her room and I was going to pay for mine. I also told her when I made the reservation the person I spoke to said it wouldn't be charged until checkout. She kept being very curt with me and asked me coldly who I spoke to. I said I didn't remember it was months ago and this has never happened to me. I asked how long the charge/hold would be on my account. She said she didn't know depended on my bank. Thinking to myself that means 5-7 business days which is my whole vacation. Now I do not have 1 credit card because we live our lives on cash so now my budget for the trip just got cut short by $215 dollars because they charged me and now I am going to even less $. This is not ok. What is worse is how she handled me. She was factual and rude. Not "oh I am sorry there was a misunderstanding" or " I'm sorry about this confusion!" Or any kind of care involved. It left me with she could give two shits. Her name was Mya. There was another lady there watching her not sure if she was training or her manager but she said not one word. I share with because this is not how you handle people's money or how you handle customer service. My recommendation; find a better place to stay. read more

First off, I prefer staying at the Baymont by Wyndham Hotels because their overall appearance both inside and out. The cleanliness of the grounds, hotel, rooms and the large variety of complementary breakfast items. This hotel is very very outdated compared to the others I have enjoyed. Of course there is very minor recent hurricane damage but only to a small part of the inner roof of the overhead check in area. The staff is friendly and that is the only positive of this particular Baymont Hotel. The complementary breakfast is terrible of what little they do offer. The eggs, powered of course like all of their hotels were cold, the bisques also cold and very hard. I ate out while there instead of normally enjoying the complementary one provided. The room was clean however again very outdated except for a small bath sink counter. The shower wall grout was dirty, a piece of metal hardware in the bath broken and wall paper coming loose from the floor. The elevators floor was dirty the entire time of my stay which was 3 nights. The staff on duty during the day although very nice could have made sure that the elevator was cleaned as I'm sure that they must have seen it at some point. They were outside more smoking and feeding stray cats instead of taking care of where they work and responsible for. All in all I would compare this again particular Baymont hotel to a Super 8 and far too highly priced for what it is and the condition it's in. I would not stay here again if in the Outer Banks area. read more

We booked this hotel through Priceline Express deals where you don't know the hotel before you purchase it, and we were very pleased! the hotel has definitely been remodeled recently and everything was really nice! I can't say for sure, but i think we got a free upgrade? We thought we had booked a queen room but we definitely ended up in a king room! Being that it was January at the beach, there were very few guests at the time! but we were in town for the OBX wedding expo. their continental breakfast had a ton of selection which was awesome, and the staff was always super pleasant when we had any encounters! There were a few minor things in our hotel room that kept it from being 5 stars, like the shower head was mildewed and the toilet seemed to leak...but nothing major. I stayed down here for work for 3 weeks and this place is an ABSOLUTE DISASTER! There was a mouse in my hotel room. There was a hole in the wall next to the AC, that you could see through the other room. The ENTIRE hallway reeked like weed and cigarette smoke. The shower did not work properly, there was also a leek on our shower so every time we used the shower it leaked downstairs on the bottom floor! The ceiling had repainted marks all over it, showing where damage was and they just painted over it! Half of the outlets didn't work in the hotel room, and the hair dryer they gave us didn't work! Also! BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU GO HERE, I am not a smoker, my fiancé is, AND as you all know this hotel room is NON SMOKING! He walked outside every day to smoke a cigarette and one day when I came home from work the no smoking sign was removed from the door! I went downstairs to ask the lady at the front desk if they seen anyone room the sign and she did not know! LATER TO FIND OUT THEY ARE TRYING TO CHARGE ME 250 DOLLARS FOR THE SIGN THAT JUST RANDOMLY DISAPPEARED and now complaining the hotel room smelled like SMOKE when I told the lady THE WHOLE HOTEL SMELLS LIKE WEED AND CIGARETTES! Plus, I had just did acrylic nails in the room the night before so before I had left I seen the maid and told her that I apologize for the acetone smell, i did my nails and she said that was okay! read more

So much for a relaxing stay...I didn't know we were entering a construction zone. Hammers were beating on the walls and drills were buzzing for a majority of the night. Meh. They owe their photographer a bonus for making the rooms look a bit nicer than reality. Front desk staff wasn't very friendly. Main lightbulb, switched by the door, was burned out and the shower water was ridiculously difficult to turn on, and required staff help to get it on at all, even though it was clearly a known hurdle. Also, sex in the room next door was very disruptive thanks to paper thin walls. read more

So we arrived at 1pm and decided to try and see if we could check in early. Pretty normal to do as every hotel ive ever stayed in allows this. Lady at the front desk was rude and snappy, didnt bother to look or check. Just responded with "check in isnt until 4". So we left and came back at about 3:45. Same lady at the desk. Her response this time was let me see if ones ready now. So we get checked in rooms are clean didnt smell for that i give it 4 stars but the experience kills it. Next morning we wake up and called and asked if we could get a late check out. Again a normal hotel practice. Lady on the phone who sounded like the same lady for previous day. "No we dont allow that" THEN HANGS UP ON ME!!! seriously!? She needs a new job if shes going to be a rude crabby woman to people paying alot of money to stay there. Definitely wont be staying there in the future because of her. Oh and the pool. Cant find anywhere on their website that says its closed but when we got there it was completely drained. We were hoping to lay by it for awhile which is another reason for the low star review. So as long as you dont encounter the lady who was working the desk on 4/27/19 at 1pm you might have a 4/5 star experience. read more

Overall extremely disappointing stay. A/C was not working properly. Cleanliness was about 3/10. The toilet tank had a sock stuffed in it for some reason. Everything is dated. The receptionist that greeted us was extremely unpleasant. This was definitely not worth my $200 for one nights stay. I don't think I'll stay at a Wyndham hotel again. read more

This hotel was neither safe nor clean. The whole hotel smells of urine and mold. The towels were filthy, the beds are urine stained. The door to the rooms do not latch shut. WARNING!!!!! About the most upset I have ever been with a business..... Yes we smok BUT we DID NOT SMOKE IN OUR ROOM! we do NOT smoke in our home or autos..we stayed 4 days 3 nights.on the second day I forgot my cigarettes and lighter when we poped in to change into our bathing suites. Every day we ate breakfast smoked in the lot not our truck and left .We went to the room to change in or out of our swimwear and left tell after dinner we smoked in the lot and went to bed! Repeat all four days...no one staying in adjoining rooms complained no manager ever approached us . We get home and there is a 250.00/charge to our card . Called them they said it was a charge because the maid ..who did bare minim in cleaning our room.saw my cigarettes and smelled smoke...BS like I stated we don't smoke on our home or trucks so not our clothes or luggage would even have had cigarette smell.
