Overlooking the world renowned golf course and the Pacific Ocean, The Lodge in Torrey Pines in La Jolla is one of Southern California's most picturesque destinations. Interior decor includes stained glass art windows at the main doors entry and other areas. Tiffany style lighting, paintings of Americana landscapes throughout. The pitched high ceilings showcasing the wooden structure exhibits the classic mission craftsmanship design. There's a spa and swimming pool and four restaurants with golf course views. My first visit was years ago in 2002 post renovations from 74 rooms to 170 rooms. The mission style craftsmanship design of this resort takes into consideration its natural surroundings. The sprawling grounds with indigenous flora and greens leaves you feeling tranquil. At the time I stayed here, it was for a business sponsored trip, I recall having an amazing comfortable stay. The concierge, guest service staffers and valet were always courteous and very accommodating and still are during my recent visits. The last couple of years, I've visited during the holidays with my pup and everyone had been very cordial, accommodating and nice which is consistent with this 5 star rated resort. Recommend

Our family has been visiting The Lodge for over 2 decades. They never disappoint. We live in La Jolla and dine at The Grill and AR Valentine quite often. We do family "staycations" there, as well. We've had many family events there, too, from anniversary, birthday and even memorial celebrations. The customer service and quality of food and beverage is excellent. Most recently, my husband and I celebrated our 38th anniversary there and they treated us like royalty. Can't say enough about the consistency and quality of this establishment... we highly recommend!

My son and I ventured down to San Diego to attend the Miramar Airshow, and we stayed at The Lodge at Torrey Pines -- and wow. This place is absolutely stunning. From the moment we arrived, we were surrounded by beauty, care, and craftsmanship. The entire property is a masterpiece of Craftsman-style architecture (my personal favorite) so I might be a little biased, but every inch of this hotel is thoughtfully detailed. From the lobby to the hallways to the valet stand, the woodwork, lighting, and design are all exceptional. It feels timeless, warm, and elegant all at once. We arrived later in the evening, around 1 AM, and the gentleman who checked us in could not have been kinder or more professional. After a long drive, his warmth and efficiency were exactly what we needed. Check-in was quick, valet service was seamless, and we were in our room and relaxing within minutes. Our room was large, spotlessly clean, and beautifully designed. We had a balcony overlooking the golf course with the ocean just beyond - truly breathtaking views. There was even a lovely welcome note and card waiting for us, which added such a personal touch and made the entire stay feel extra special. The pool area was spacious and beautifully maintained, with plenty of chairs and umbrellas for lounging. There's a full bar available poolside, making it the perfect place to unwind and soak up the sunshine. The golf course and surrounding grounds are equally gorgeous, with several cozy seating areas overlooking the greens. The on-site restaurant looked incredible as well, unfortunately, we didn't have a chance to dine there this trip, but it's on my list for next time. And in the mornings, there's fresh coffee in the lobby, which was such a thoughtful and appreciated touch. Every detail, from the service to the setting, exceeded expectations. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend The Lodge at Torrey Pines to anyone visiting San Diego who appreciates exceptional service, beautiful design, and a truly peaceful, luxurious experience.

Didn't stay here, but walked around the hotel lobby and grounds. Eventually, we made our way to the Grill at Torrey Pines for lunch. Nestled overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the renowned Torrey Pines Golf Course, the Lodge at Torrey Pines stands as a unique destination. Its craftsman-style design, evident in its rich woodwork, stone fireplaces, and stained glass, exudes a historic ambiance that feels cozy and grounding. The swimming pool is a key focal point, its edges bordered with inviting lounge chairs that make it easy to kick back with a drink while the ocean breeze drifts through. THE FOOD. Although we dined at the Grill at Torrey Pines (the Reuben and Wood Grilled Cardiff Crack are stellar dishes), just steps away, A.R. Valentien offers a more refined experience; celebrated for its seasonal, locally sourced cuisine. In 2022, this restaurant was awarded the Michelin Plate distinction, a recognition for its consistently high-quality cooking. Obviously, I have to come back and try it out now. THE PARKING. A parking structure sits next to the Lodge at Torrey Pines. They do charge $55 per day. Valet parking is also available and is $65 per day. THE VERDICT. It's an ideal spot for vacationers who want to experience quintessential laid-back SoCal and even for staycationers, who want a getaway that feels far from the bustling streets of San Diego, but isn't that far at all.

This property is just lovely, and the service here is amazing. When we arrived here, the valet was friendly and helpful. The front desk went the extra mile for us as well. She even gave us a small upgrade in our room when we checked in. This property is so beautiful. Although it was raining during our stay at the Lodge, our room was wonderful. Our room was big and really comfortable, and the fireplace was a great touch. We could also see the golf course from our patio. We didn't get a chance to try the restaurants here, but room service was delicious. I can't wait to try the restaurants on our next visit here. This resort is definitely a beautiful place for taking those special occasion trips to Torrey Pines!

Had to redo my review because Yelp took it off because they said it didn't appear like my "content depicted an experience". I am adding pictures! My girlfriends and I celebrate pregnancy by doing a Momchella sort of thing. Every time one of us get pregnant we pick a resort and do a spa getaway. This time we picked the Lodge and we were blown away. Out of all the resorts we stayed at, the Lodge was the most hospitable one. We had the most incredible stay and couldn't have asked for a better babymoon experience with friends. From the moment we arrived, the hotel went above and beyond by upgrading us to the presidential suite, which instantly set the tone for an unforgettable trip. We were welcomed with the sweetest handwritten cards and an amazing spread of complimentary room service--apple cider, a beautiful cheese platter, fresh fruit, guacamole, chips, and salsa. The spa was amazing. The massages were excellent, deeply relaxing, and exactly what we all needed. I also loved that they served the art of tea (excellent brand of tea) in adorable ceramic cups. It annoys me when you go to a nice spa and they have a poor brand of tea in paper cups. Every amenity was top-notch, especially the aromatherapy room, which was pure bliss. We also took advantage of the e-bikes, which was such a fun way to explore and enjoy the surroundings. The entire property was very charming and had cozy, rustic vibes. Also the location was excellent. We all slept very well. Somehow we made it to yoga in the morning and let me say (as someone who does not enjoy yoga) it was the best yoga class. Our instructor spent a lot of one on one time with us and stretched us/assisted in our positions. I did more than I have ever done in any class. Most importantly, every single person we encountered was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Can't wait to go back for other staycations!

They do an amazing offering. AR Valentine has memorable service and great food. Lunch is a wonderful experience ad the view of the greens are impeccable!

What an amazing place. It was kind, gentle, and just what we needed. I am grateful for our time there and can't wait to return.

My family stayed at the Lodge at Torrey Pines about a week ago. The highlight of the trip was the grill at the Lodge. We ate there three times and the service, wait staff and management were phenomenal!! Our first day we were served by Carlos who was very social, funny, engaging, and had perfect recommendations for every plate that was ordered. The next morning, we were served by DANIEL once again just like with Karla same personality and style. We enjoyed him very much. He was a bit more comical and I like that a lot. Food was once again absolutely awesome. That afternoon we sat with Ivy she too, had the same trait in personality as the others. It's almost like Tori has a special school that make sure their staff compliments each other. It felt like we were part of a family and had been going there for years. Congratulations to Paulina and the rest of the management staff. We live locally and this was our second time to the lodge. We will make the Trek from Chula Vista Way more often at least once a month to enjoy these people.

Christmas Day dinner on the patio of The Grill during a stunning SoCal sunset is a pretty nice present. Why you ask? Did I mention the sunset? Did I forget to say it is dog friendly? Lisa provided the best service ever? Parking is easy? The lodge is beautifully decorated? Yes you're going to pay, and it will be expensive, but you'll actually get your money's worth! This is a once a year place, at most. Once in a lifetime is good too.

Beautiful establishment with exceptional service. As a native San Diegan, it was such a treat to relax in my hometown and feel the gratitude of where I call home. The lodge itself is elegant, warm, and rustic with beautifully polished wood and stained glass windows all around. The Tiffany lamps were a beautiful and classy touch. At times I felt like it was in the Pacific Northwest, and at others I felt like I was in a Japanese garden, then I would be reminded I'm in San Diego with a perfect ocean sunset. The restaurant, A.R. Valentein was AMAZING. Such an experience to eat such delicious food and receive such wonderful service. Everyone and everything left nothing to be desired. We will be surely be back.

Covered parking was $39 a night, they have a market that is opened 24/7 and has a good selection of food items and coffee. The lobby and other areas were nice too. Only thing is the rooms are for sure not sound proof, I could hear everything and the showers have like half doors so that was weird. But overall I would stay here again.

To get the food, simply ask the host at the check in desk, BEFORE 9:00AM!! They'll hand you a cup and you can go ahead and go down to the viewing area to do so, a small-ish area recessed into a walk way around the base of the elevators. Very pretty! I really appreciate how spacious my room was. We had not only a living room type area with a desk/spacious table and wet bar space but we also had a mini refrigerator and microwave complete with a Keurig. In the living room area, the sofa could be flipped out into a sofa bed. That was perfect for my little one. She loves having her own bed now. We had a sliding door closet complete with various types of hangers, a luggage trolley and an ironing board. The bedroom had a nice king size bed. I really appreciate how little clutter there was on the bedside tables. A lot of times I feel like there's too much going on on the bedside table whether it be a combination of remote controls, additional outlets kinda like a surge protector type doo hockey, and other extensions as well as an alarm clock, the room phone, a notepad, the Bible, all the different things. I'm glad that these bedside tables only had one of those items on 'em. One had the alarm clock and the other had the room phone. That was it. That is literally all it needed to be. The room is very simple and clean. I love the ottoman that fits so nicely just under the TV stand combo dresser. I appreciate the natural light that comes into the bedroom. There are blackout curtain curtains, but it really is such a beautiful view outside. I really enjoyed watching the sunrise on one of the mornings that I was here. I don't know about you, but bathrooms are a deal for me. I appreciate the fact that this bathroom is nice and clean and comes complete with items like, conditioner & body wash, fixed to the wall of the shower. I also can appreciate that there is both body lotion and hand wash affixed to the wall of the area nearest the sink. One thing that my daughter was not fond of was the fact that the holder for the toilet paper seems so far behind the actual toilet seat that when you need it, you have to kind of contort your body to be able to reach it. The tub is tiny and rather narrow. The fixtures are pretty dated, but at least they work and aren't in disrepair at all. I'm not fond of shower curtains because of the amount of gross bacteria and things that they carry but well, you don't always have a say in these matters. I like much much more water pressure than I was getting here but again, nothing wrong with it but for my own personal preference, I like some seriously strong pressure. Breakfast is complimentary and actually provides a nice spread: made to order omelettes, waffles, pancakes, eggs, sausage, cut fruit (cantaloupe and honey dew), whole fruit (bananas and apples), yogurt (yoplait: peach, raspberry or strawberry) coffee, tea, juice, cereals, whole or 2% milk, hot chocolate, breads, pastries (muffins, danishes), oatmeal, roasted potatoes, and possibly more. Clarissa was our FAVE dining assistant, sorry I'm not quite sure if her position or title. She is so sweet, helpful, efficient and even recognized us each time after only having helped us once during breakfast before. awesome staff: Clarissa (food service) Analyssa L. (Check in) Swimming pool situation in May 2026: The pool is indoor and heated. I believe it opens around 8 or 9am. It closes nightly at 10:00pm for the kiddos. It remains open til midnight for adults. There is a jacuzzi just outside the pool, like you actually have to go outside for it. It's nothing huge but it is nice to have that outlet away from the indoor pool craziness. The one HUGE problem that I had with the pool facilities were the lack of attention paid to the restrooms as well as the pool deck area. Sure there were plenty of signs to point out the wet surfaces and possible fall risk but considering the floor wasn't just a little wet, you'd think that some sort of other type of mats might be used, partly to increase traction but also partly to wick away water or absorb some of it. The restroom is nice because of the available showers, handicapped accessible as well. But again, I nearly fell and probably would've cracked my head open had there not been the whole ass sink for me to grab on to. Whew. Even worse, I was wearing tennis shoes when this fall almost happened. Sheesh!! (So this is the main reason for my one less star review, 4 instead of 5) Pls pay attention to the pool areas more! Towels are being unfortunately left all over except in the appropriate receptacles. Send an associate in here every once in a while. It can't hurt. In fact, it might help prevent an accident even!! The room is really nice and it's spacious, but the bed is so uncomfortable that I woke up with a backache and neck ache. The parking is also super weird. They have a 3 story parking garage, but the way you enter is also the way you exit, so if you park on the 3rd floor and you're trying to drive out, there could be someone driving in and you guys are stuck staring at each other on who should move. Next, the parking structure has no elevator so you have to take the stairs down or up. That's never an issue, but I start thinking of my 81yr old mom and if she was with us then how would she be able to climb up or down. Also, the room I stayed at room 812 the toilet is super far from the toilet paper wall thing that holds the toilet paper. Unless you're Mr. Fantastic then I'm sure you have to get up and walk over to wipe your butt. I've never seen anything like that at any hotels or motels we have ever stayed at, so this was a bit weird to me. I didn't get to eat their "continental breakfast" because I was still getting ready, but my husband and my youngest son went to check it out. They said it was okay, the buffet was mediocre and the sausage didn't have color and it looked boiled. They both said the best food they cooked was the potatoes. They grabbed me a coffee and that was good, it was brewed fresh. They had cereal and pastries and some other items. Anyway, this is a very nice hotel, just a few things to look out for if you're gonna stay here. One cool thing is they gave us a $20 credit to use on our first day, we didn't need anything so we just got some bottled drinks in case we wanted it later or the next day.

it's a solid hotel in a challenging but convenient location…read more the good? it's right off la jolla village road and the 5. get off the freeway, go west one light and then turn left and then immediately left into a small cul de sac, and there is the hotel. there is a large shopping center you can access through the back of the parking lot with your hotel key. there is a handel's ice cream stand that is right there for late-night sweets, as well as a rubio's tacos, a cava, a whole foods and CVS. across the street you have a ralph's shopping center and a chick fil a with a whole bunch of other things. so location is great. it's not too noisy being right next to the freeway, so that's also good. the downside? well, the outside of the buildings are more holiday inn than they are sheraton/hilton/marriott level to me. the rooms are fine and the beds and shower are definitely reflective of sheraton reputation, but the separate buildings that are all two stories tall have a more holiday inn vibe. didn't try the pool or the amenities, but the restaurant has decent food and seems to be always empty (sucks that the hotel has to lose money on this). the prices are hotel pricing, but the food is solid--no qualms there. the dining room is colder than a witch's tit, though--what is up with 60-63 degrees being the ambient temperature? rooms are noisy because of this design i mentioned. if you had a tall high rise then it would be a lot quieter without people constantly getting into and out of the building. parking is also a crappy lot that isn't well maintained in the back. imagine a typical LA street as far as condition and that's what you have. and they stick you for $30 per night for that. but honestly it's not a bad location and the service is good and polite. i just wish it were a tall high rise with a better parking lot--covered parking would be great. it's an open lot. would i come back? sure. would it be my first choice? no. i would head more into la jolla to find a high rise hotel with covered parking next time. but the location is great.

The staff were nice. The hotel was clean and has easy access to the rooms. The only reason I am only giving 4 stars is because they did not have toilet paper in the bathroom and the phone to call the front desk was not working. Otherwise, I don't mind staying again.

Dated but a very nice stay…read more.. Many of the residence inn's we have stayed at are showing their outdated interior decor, but they are well kept overall. I think there was popcorn ceiling and very textured walls. The spaces are big and very roomy for two people and would work well for 4 people. This property has some two-story units with loft via A-frame top floors. Dad's room had a wood burning fireplace. This property is large. Rooms have a sofa bed, big TV, King bed, full kitchen, two bar chairs and table off kitchen, desk. The counter in the bath is big for storing all your toiletries. The toilet is tiny and "old skool" shortie McGhee vs. chair-height. And this space is tight with the shower. The pillows are not the best for neck support, but I have seen worse in hotels. The TP is good enough and at least not transparent. The included breakfast is "too legit to quit". Nice oatmeal with a ton of quality options for additions. All the usual suspects and bacon, quality eggs, fruit, yogurt etc. The horseshoe shaped dining space is very large which is needed for such a large property. There is a semi-busy road above the property, but we were located just beneath it and had no road noise, and I am not a sound sleeper. I would definitely ask for a top floor unit if you want less noise. My dad had a family with 3 young kids above him. Fortunately, there gazelle running was for a nominal duration. Plus, with his mobility 1st floor was the only option. STAFF are very friendly and helpful.

Where do I even start? Be sure to look at my pics too. Okay, it OLD and smells OLD. It's like an old apartment complex they bought and turned it into some 1 spacious bedroom hotel rooms. They need to shut this down and remodel everything! And clean and paint these damn buildings. Have you ever heard of $10 per out if you check in before 5 o'clock? Well they do that here! Have you ever seen a street basketball goal at a hotel? Well it's one here that looks like it was here when they bought the apartments. Lol. Oh and don't get dropped off by your uber when checking in because you might get room in the back and have to walk your luggage down the street to your building lol. This place is horrible. If I wasn't on a company paid trip and I didn't want to deal with the paperwork I would have checked out and went somewhere else! It honestly feels like some people may live here lol. Oh they do wheel out a beer cart Monday-Thursday for free beer haha. And I saw a picture of food. There is definitely no food here! They have a breakfast but from the smell of my room I wouldn't eat here. Again everything just feels old. Feels like I'm staying in a bad Airbnb.

Review of La Valencia Hotel…read more I purchased a day pass here as someone who works in the hospitality industry and is always curious to experience new properties from a guest perspective--and La Valencia absolutely delivered. I arrived pretty early in the morning (optimistically expecting sunshine), but even with the typical coastal overcast, it didn't take away from the experience at all. In fact, I somehow ended up with the pool almost entirely to myself--in the middle of August, which felt like a hidden luxury. The setting is just beautiful. The views, the calm atmosphere, and the overall sense of escape made it easy to settle in and relax. I spent about five hours there and never felt rushed or overlooked. The staff, especially at the cabana bar, were fantastic--attentive, respectful, and genuinely pleasant to interact with. I ordered food and drinks throughout the day, and everything added to the ease and enjoyment of the experience. The only small downside is parking, which can be a bit tricky--but that's pretty standard for La Jolla. Overall, this was an incredible day experience and absolutely worth it. I'd do it again without hesitation.

Multiple social media searches told me this was the place to stay in La Jolla, so despite the…read moreexpense I decided to book a room for one night, my first night after flying into San Diego. I paid $500 for the room, arrived around 10 pm and had to check out by 11am, quick $500! There was a $45 resort fee, whatever that means. Still would love to know what that was for. Anyways, the bellhop guys were nice they gave me recommendations for where to eat and also helped carry my suitcase up to my room. The bedroom was small, really small and the view was of a back lot with dumpsters and the side of a building. Sure, the room was hip and funky and cool. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was small but functional. Listen the room was fine, but for $500...and this was a heavily discounted room because I booked through Hotel Tonight. Anyways, I walked the hotel at night and it was nice because I had the place to myself, the pool is really pretty at night, it's lit up, I recommend walking outside and having a seat on their comfy couches above the pool. In the morning I continued exploring the hotel and when I went to check out the dining room I was receiving unfriendly glances from the hostess or whoever she was. So much so that I stopped and asked if it was okay that I was looking around, to which she replied, "Well are you eating?" I said no and that I was staying here and just wanted to check out the view. I am a pretty average looking chick, was in work out clothes, maybe I didn't fit the high end clientele look and it seemed to bother her. Anyways, the people at the front desk upon check out weren't the friendliest either, seemed annoyed when I asked if they had change for the bellhop. The man at the concierge desk who I believe has a job of making sure everyone in the hotel is happy and having a grand time didn't even acknowledge. me the four or five times I walked past his desk. I felt unwelcome to be honest.

Hotel is in an area with a few walkable restaurants which is nice. Small gym. No microwave in rooms you have to go down the hall to the ice room. Rooms are dated but worst part was the noise. We were in room 237 & could hear every single footstep of the person above us. Not sure what this person was doing but they were pacing back and forth at all hours of the night. Also our toilet kept running. We were across from a supply closet which had people going in and out of it a lot. Not exactly peace and quiet. When we checked in we asked for 3rd floor but she said the only room was next to ice machine so it could get loud. I think I would have been better staying by the ice machine. It's also time for new pillows- they were awful. We stay here for work trips and it gets the job done.

Property is super dated as other folks mentioned, to the point where it almost looks dirty but I think that's just due to wear and tear. Had a pleasant experience with the staff. Room was old and outdated but bed was comfortable enough. Equipped with a tv and all the basic amenities. I love the free water bottles from the front desk and in the room! The courtyard and pool area was surprisingly nice but the gym was the size of a bedroom closet so don't plan on working out! A woman was stretching in the hallway! Overall not bad for a one night stay or such but wouldn't be my first choice.
