    Cocktail reception at BBM
    John D.

I hosted an insurance industry conference at the hotel this past week. We have planned this for months and I had guests coming in from all over the US. We had some communication issues at first, until we began communicating with Derrick Blevins and Patrick Hairston. They were both great to work with. During our event we utilized the Triple Crown Room, Wedding Room and also hosted an event in BBM. The deli style lunch we had for our event on Thursday was perfect. Thursday afternoon service at BBM was great. We had a portion of it reserved with 2 dedicated servers. Our cocktail reception went well. Our guests were happy with the venue. The only complaints we heard were some of the guest rooms had no heat. The hotel provided portable heaters for those guests.

The Hilton downtown met all my needs for my two night stay. When you arrive there's a nice bar to enjoy a drink or late night snack. Food closes at 10pm kind of early for a Monday. Rooms were clean and had breakfast the next morning.

I stayed here for 4 nights for a technical conference. Although I'm more of a Marriott fan, this hotel is in a good location that's an easy walk to lots of restaurants. Looking for a pharmacy or a big store like Walmart or Kroger is over a mile away. Rooms were comfy and amenities were good, so 4 stars. Likes * Beds were soft and comfy - slept soundly all 4 nights * Fitness center is clean, well-ventilated, and has lots of Precor machines, cable machines, cardio equipment, and dumbbells. They have an indoor pool too. * Good-sized meeting facilities * Decent catering for dinner - amazing fried catfish, risotto, fresh and crispy green beans, and amazing chocolate cake! * Good water pressure in the shower, with Crabtree and Evelyn products Dislikes * Wifi is free here but I found it spotty and unreliable * We had occasional audio/power problems one day in Grand Ballroom D that sorta threw our agenda off track. It was eventually fixed. * Toilet in the room flushes slowly

We were at this hotel for less than 24 hours for a wedding but we really enjoyed our stay here. A nice room with plenty of space, comfortable bed, and a great exercise room. The lobby was pretty and there were great photos throughout the hotel. And the location was great for local restaurants and businesses. It was a little rough at first getting to the hotel because there was a basketball game that night but the folks at the garage helped us find the right place to park. Overall great service. Only downside was when the housekeeping staff came 15 minutes before checkout time to ask when we were leaving. Seriously. They could have waited. Felt like we were an inconvenience to them.

I do want to note that though the Hotel and Conference Center are connected it is a very, very long walk between them. If you have mobility issues, you'll definitely need a wheelchair When we first arrived, the concierge didn't have any carts available and we were on the 11th floor with many bags. After a bit of waiting (following an 8-hour Drive) they finally found a cart for us and helped us to our room. The self parking is right across the street and very convenient The rooms are decent sized and clean. One nice surprise was that the refrigerator in the room has a clear door so you can see what's in there. It reminded me of a wine chiller and gave the room an elegant feel. However there was one major item missing in the room - no microwave. When I'm traveling, I frequently have leftovers from a meal out that I want to heat up later, so a microwave is close to being an essential. Frankly I can't recall the last time I was in a hotel that didn't have the microwave in the room. They have one restaurant for the entire Hotel and the one time we wanted to eat, it was closed. There are no decent restaurants nearby so we had to eat at a sports bar across the street. We did order room service one time and it came up promptly. The prices were not bad and the food was pretty good. The TV reception which is frequently a problem in hotels was very good at the Hyatt and they had a decent selection of options for the channels but you had to search for an online channel guide because they didn't have a printed one in the room. The shower stall is huge and has a beautiful full-length glass door but the water pressure is only so-so. The last day of our stay, I had to wait 4 or 5 minutes for hot water which was very disappointing. All in all, my first stay here was okay but I expected far more from a Hyatt Regency. If it were not attached to Lexington's main Conference Center, I would probably look for another option next visit.

The hotel is older, but everything looks nice. Our room was spacious and the bathroom has been updated. Our room had a beautiful view overlooking Triangle Park. We ordered late night room service and had the Buffalo Wings and Hummus Platter. The food was good and saved us from going to bed "hangry".

I've stayed at a few boutique/privately owned hotels before, and I will say, I've always been concerned about lack of security. I liked the fact that you needed a key card to get to the actual hotel portion of this hotel, which made me feel better about my safety, but will say I didn't see anyone at the desk when I left early in the morning (around 6am) on my departure date. My room was super spacious. I had a corner room that had two separate rooms, one included a sofa and sitting room with a TV, bathroom, and wetbar, which included a microwave and refrigerator, which was a nice touch. I also had a separate bedroom with a large king bed. Why the four stars? Temperature wise, it didn't seem like the thermostat worked well. When I adjusted it, it would go back to the original temp, so it made the room either too cold or too warm at times. The second thing that I docked a star for was I was on the third floor and when I arrived on the third floor, I got a whiff of cigarettes. I never saw anyone on this floor, so I don't know if it was actually someone, or it was embedded in the carpet. The good thing is the smell was NOT in the room, so that was a positive. I wish the bed had been a tad more comfortable, but if you like a firm mattress, they have the bed for you. Beware, this hotel is near a local hospital, so you may need to bring a sound machine to drown out the siren noises.

Hilton Honors member, I look for Hilton brand hotels first. When the Campbell House popped up, it looked fun and nice and really representative of what you expect for Lexington. As part of the Hilton app, you can check in early online, which I did. It asks you next what time do you expect to arrive. As we were driving 13.5 hours, I checked "after 10pm" which was the latest time option. We ended up arriving close to midnight. We were tired, hungry, and just overall beat. Restaurants in the area (including the hotel restaurant) were all closed except for fast food. Fortunately we had brought food with us. At check in, I asked about the room having a small fridge and if it had a microwave? They said it likely had a fridge but the microwave would probably be the one in the lobby where they sell snacks. After finding our room, we realized we were SO FAR AWAY from the lobby microwave and there was also no mini fridge in the room. To be fair, they don't advertise fridges being in the rooms, but it almost seems like a staple nowadays. I stayed in a Holiday Inn the night before that had a fridge. Is it too much to expect a Hilton Curio Collection to have a fridge? Long story shorter, the elevator had a flashing red light on the button that made the safety of it seem sketch, the microwave in the sundries room was small and not cleaned - had to ask them to clean it before I could heat up food. Was so far away from the room that by the time you heat your food and hoof up 3 flights of stairs to avoid getting stuck in the elevator, your food is cold by the time you reach your room. One of the front desk staff seemed rather argumentative and not really customer service oriented. Not sure if she was a manager or not but she acted like one. Not exactly the kind of person you want to deal with at midnight after 13.5 hours of driving. I did speak to the manager in the morning about everything, and she was understanding and nice enough to take our breakfast off the bill. She did mention that you do have to request in advance if you want a microwave/fridge in your room, and told me they could have given it to me that morning, but that doesn't help me when I am there for 1 night and about to check out. She said there is no one working housekeeping to bring it so late at night. I told her I wish I would have known that in order to request it in advance, and since the Hilton app asks what time I am arriving, maybe they could have offered that when they saw my anticipated arrival. The room was nice otherwise and the hotel does look nice and renovated. I appreciated the effort to comp the breakfast but still expected more overall from Hilton Curio.

The rooms are small with the basics but we didn't have consistent A/C, reliable lighting, and no leg room to use the toilet. The floors are difficult to walk and navigate as they're uneven and posed several tripping hazards. It's quite a maze to navigate and the only central area for guests to spend time together outside of their rooms is out front which is nice except for the fact that the smokers also go out front so be prepared for secondhand inhalation. We read online that there was a pool, only to find out upon arriving that the pool has since been removed. That was a bit of a let down, but can't fault them for our misunderstanding. It is located in a convenient spot with access to many local places. I would definitely recommend trying "Pollo Azul" if you're looking for a place to eat while staying here. The venue staff that were bartending for the wedding were highly irritable and inconsiderate. One of the elder bartenders pushed over the beer stand and asked guests to help her clean up.
