Im a sucker for Indian-style buffets and this one is really good. They have it 7 days a week for $10.95 which is a solid value for the quality of food you get. The buffet had a setup of maybe 10 curries, tons of vegetarian options, tandoori chicken, rice pudding, and a salad bar. My favorites were probably the chicken makhani and the tandoori chicken. The chicken makhani was super creamy and flavorful. I don't usually like tandoori chicken but this one had a super super good char flavor and was not dry. But really all of the curries were good quality - and they didn't all taste the same! The selection and quality at this buffet are great. Pretty much everything tasted really good. Do not ever try to use any rewards or coupons they email to you, because they will not honor them. Had an $11 reward for next purchase but when I tried to redeem she said she would not accept it at all. The manager will try to negotiate with you at a lesser value than the coupon they just sent. This has happened more than once, but will not happen again. Very poor customer service. read more

This is hands down the best Indian food restaurant that I have ever had. The chicken curry hot is awesome and the portion sizes are generous especially considering other Indian restaurants in the area have smaller portion sizes. Butter chicken was good too but lacks the flavor of the regular chicken curry. By the way, they have an "Indian hot" spice level available for your food, I would not recommend this unless you like ghost pepper level spice but it is awesome. Clean, spacious, and with some pretty good deals, this is a great place to get Indian and Nepalese food. My friends particularly like to get Indian from here, it helps that it is pretty much the mid-point between where we live. But it helps even more that they serve up some pretty good dishes. They have lunch buffet which also runs on the weekends and comes with naan. The dishes they serve during the buffet vary, so depending on what you're craving you may want to check and see what's there first before opting for the buffet. I really love all the dishes we've gotten here, the spice level isn't too high making it pretty enjoyable for most people (I'm pretty sure you can ask them to bump up the heat if you prefer). I typically prefer to go for the Value meals as it is just that (an excellent value) and you get quite to try quite a few dishes. You really can't go wrong with nearly everything on the menu, and while we've generally stuck to the basics (chicken tikka masala, palak paneer, biryani, and such) there are some dishes you don't get elsewhere that are worth trying too like the Farsi Bhaji! read more

A solid four star place. We came to Niles to watch latest bollywood buzz-Bharat and I found this place on yelp for lunch. This is a Nepali-Indian place. The entire decor here tells you that. Upon entering we were greeted by a lady whi recommended us their buffet spread. The spread was indeed sumptuous and rich. It had a lot of options for both veg and Non veg(although nonveg was dominating ) The starters has pakoras . samosas, wedges and chicken wings etc. The food was very good & tasty. Delicious Indian and Nepalese food with a homemade flair. We came for dinner - it was a great experience. Service was prompt and helpful with good attention to details. The naan was crisp on the outside, slightly chewy on the inside. Just perfect. The navratan korma (mild) was tasty with fresh peas, cauliflower, carrots and assorted vegetables. Chicken soup had fresh herbs and perfect comfort food for cool weather. The lentil soup tasted home made with just the right amount of herbs and salt. The paneer was fabulous as well. We ordered from Himalayan for the first time tonight, on Mother's Day. We opted for the dinner for four which included an appetizer, three entrees, rice, naan, and a dessert for $50. I also ordered four mango lassis and a paneer naan. Unfortunately, three of the lassis and the extra naan didn't arrive, but when I called they explained they'd been very busy and agreed that mistakes had been made. I like that they took responsibility for it instead of making excuses. They were willing to give me a future credit but I'm going to request a refund for what we didn't receive from DoorDash. My family was really, really impressed with the food and we all agreed we liked it more than our regular Indian restaurant. We had chicken makhani, chicken tikka masala, palak paneer, and veggie samosas, and it was all delicious. We couldn't choose our preferred level of spiciness when selecting from the family entree options, and both the makhani and palak paneer were quite spicy. You get the best chicken Momo's/dumplings in Chicago here are Himalayan. They have options for jhol (soup) and fried as well, but we went for steamed Momo, since we love it the traditional way. So far it's the best place to go if you are craving one. I quite didn't like the choila because I personally felt there was too much of garlic on it. I was expecting the taste of mustard oil, some more onion leaves and coriander (how a newari choila would be) but the garlic overpowered it. Nevertheless, their chicken Tikka masala was good, loved their naan (bread) too. However , a little bit not happy with the biryani too . The first thing you should know is not to waste your time on any appetizer. That's where that last star went to and why I stuck with a 4/5. Their apps are very low quality and lack flavor and originality. We got the app sampler platter and were sadly disappointed. As for the main course, 5/5 stars! Flavors are absolutely spot on. We came here for the weekend lunch buffet on a Saturday. At first glance of the buffet spread, I wasn't entirely impressed. There seemed to be limited items and I was hoping for more because I have such limited experience with Indian/Himalayan food. Basically my greedy self wanted to try a million things. We were in town and wanted to try Indian food. The Resturant had 4 stars so we decided to try it out. May be we picked a wrong day. It was the slowest service- from the moment we sat down till we got our first dish it was 25 mins and another 20-30 to get rest of the food. The water was w/o ice and had funny smelling water glasses. People around us were waiting and so we're the people who came in to pick up the order. NAMASTE! BOMB AF! I think the lunch special is absolutely a great option though I haven't tried it yet. I went for dinner and ordered chicken chili, momo soup AKA jhol momo, and onion pakora. My friend and I went light. I thought the portions were pretty good comparing to other Nepali restaurants in the neighborhood. The quality was absolutely A1 and I assure you that because I was born in Nepal and I have had the authentic ones. They all tasted almost exactly the same!!! I haven't been here during dinner, but the Lunch Buffet is awesome!! It's a great option when you want to try different dishes. They have a good selection of vegetarian and non vegetarian sections with the salad and a dessert in another section, fresh buttered Naan is delivered to your table. I tried all the meat dishes and everything was cooked well and seasoned, the only veggie I tried was the spinach with the tofu (my fave with the Naan), spring roll, veggie samosas. Now although I enjoyed the food, I would say that there was eh on the Tandoori chicken, not sure if it was the piece I had but the chicken was dry... The flavor was there but it was dry not juicy. Came here for dinner last week and it was a bit hit for me! Vegetable samosas very fresh and tasty, only I wish they were a little more spicy. Roti whole weat bread was amazing and so fresh too. My wife and I visited this place for lunch last Friday. They don't have the lunch buffet anymore so you get to choose from a few meat items and/or vegetable items with naan and rice. The food, lunch special, is served in like a school lunch tray but the tray is big and fits quite a bit of each item. We both liked the food but I would have preferred my chicken sauces to be a bit more spicy. The waitress said you can't order it more spicy for the lunch special but you can off the regular menu. We also ordered a few samosas. They were quite good with the mint chutney. Both my wife and I didn't like the plum chutney. For the same price as in the Lakeview area our entrees were much skimpier -- they came in 16 oz deli containers rather than the larger servings we get in the city. Writing this review as I'm recovering on my sofa from an absolute food coma. I haven't tried a lot of Indian restaurants or food for that matter but this place is amazing. For anyone hesitating to try the food I highly recommend coming here. Have taken a few first timers and they have all become obsessed. The wait staff is super attentive and friendly. My fiancé and I always order the chef special that combines two entrees and sides with a shared dessert. Here is my top recommendations 1. The garlic naan bread which is a warm version of a pita bread that's bold in flavor. Good on it's own and even better to dip into your chicken tikka masala sauce. 2. Their chicken tikka masala dish which includes marinated chicken in a creamy tomato and onion sauce. 3. Lamb tikka masala: same concept as the chicken version but with a different sauce that's finger looking good. The menu prices are very reasonable and if you bring a friend and split the chefs special you will get more than you can finish. Tip! - Their website usually has coupons! This was my first time eating from here and I have absolutely no regrets. I left the restaurant feeling highly satisfied. I can understand now why this restaurant has a great rating and a high volume of reviews. I really recommend coming here to eat. Beyond impressed with the dishes from this restaurant. The food is so flavorful, delicious, tasty, yummy, authentic, and fantastic! The presentation of the dishes were really impressive. I have no complaints whatsoever. Sometimes it's so unreal how incredible a restaurants food can be. Himalayan Restaurant proved that to me today. Please give a big thanks to the chef for me! The waiters at this restaurant are so sweet and kind. The interior of the restaurant is very clean and nice. Below this review are the items I've ordered today and my thoughts. 1. Paneer Tikka Masala- This dish was absolutely heavenly! The curry was so rich and creamy. The paneer cubes were cooked so well and it was just the right texture. The spices and and the overall flavor was so good. My tastebuds were literally rejoicing! I really enjoyed eating this dish. I'm literally so happy. My cravings were completely satisfied. Mango Lassi- I highly recommend everyone to order this drink while dining in. It was not to sweet or too bitter. It had just the right taste. My friend and I were so happy with this mango lassi. 4. Samosas- I'm a huge samosa fan and lately it's been really hard to find good samosas in the Chicago area. I've tried many Indian restaurants so far and the samosas were either too oily or had no flavor at all. The samosas from this restaurant tasted really authentic and I enjoyed the taste sooo much! The chutneys were awesome too. No complaints! Please try it out one time. 5. Steamed Vegetable Momos- So so yummy! Probably one of the best momos I've tried since I've moved to Illinois. The filling inside the mono is flavorful and tasty. When you chew the momos, you will be left with this delicious dough taste at the end. The sauces which were served with the momos paired really well with it. Overall, this is one of my favorite dishes at this restaurant and I highly recommend. I will definitely be back soon and I really encourage everyone to come try out this restaurant. You will be so grateful that you came here. I've tried plenty of Indian restaurants in the Chicago northwest suburbs and nothing tops this. Me and my co-workers were planning to order lunch and we decided on Himalaya, we ordered pickup from ubereats, The in competent staff over there completely refused to hand over my order to my driver. When i called and confirmed even than they did not, They asked me to send a picture of the order and than they will give it to him. This was bizarre and ridiculous. And after all this when the food came it was not even the order i gave, after double checking as they said they sent me the wrong order. I am very disappointed with this place and i highly recommend not to go here. The staff is incompetent and being an Indian restaurant they don't even speak proper Hindi. Very disappointed.
