My friend and I were coming back from Woodfield shopping center, and we wanted a good meal. We were so fortunate to find Tandoori restaurant in Des Plaines. Neither of us had been there before, and it had good ratings already. It's a somewhat small place, but there was ample seating since most people seem to take their food to go. When we walked into the restaurant, I immediately noticed that it was clean and had nice modern decor. I am guessing the man at the counter was the owner because he was super helpful and friendly. I asked if there were any vegan options and he showed me what they offered. I chose the Chana Masala with a side of basmati rice. The portion sizes were outstanding, and the flavor was delicious. He also brought a water carafe for our table, which allowed us to refill our own drinks. Prices were very reasonable, especially for the portion size. (The only thing I would recommend is that they repaint their bathroom so it looks cleaner.) read more

I was in the area and wanted a quick lunch so I stopped in at Tandoori a few days back. I order the Chicken Boti wrap which tasted very good with the right amount of flavor and veggies. Service was good and the ambiance is nothing spectacular but ok too. I ordered two and the total came out $20 flat considering other places perhaps you would pay more for two full size burritos. This is a unique place where the food is very delicious without being too spicy. So, it loses some authenticity that way but I'm not complaining. It means that more family members are willing to enjoy it without whining about how spicy it is. And, nonetheless, it tastes very authentic. More authentic, in fact, than most other places. I haven't eaten inside here -- maybe, one day -- but the rare occasion I've picked up food, it's a good location and quite pleasant inside. I noticed many South Asian customers, which means their food is good. It's slightly dim, light-wise, but not excessively so. This would make for a nice intimate dinner. read more

Good food reasonable prices , recently they updated their decor and ownership also changed so it's defiantly upgraded. If you are a chai lover, they have good chai. Serice is quick, small sitting area but to go orders are more popular. Try Nihari , frontier chicken , chicken Karhai. Also they have pans sometimes , you have to ask for it. My friends cup was obviously dirty and mine was BITTEN! -(As you can see the table in the background, this was not from a takeout order as the resturaunt responded to my friends review. And no we didn't confuse the resturaunt with another. You can see the green sauce they give you on the second picture to the right. )- This is absolutely repulsive & ridiculous that a resturaunt will openly do this. I only imagine what they do to the things we can't see, how sanitary they are handling the food, even reusing leftover food if they are bold enough to reuse styrofoam cups. As soon as we saw this we walked out. Just disgusting. The guy up front taking orders seemed bothered and didn't even come to the table to take our orders. I don't review places this harshly but this was mind boggling. I read another review saying the guy upfront came from the kitchen to the register with orange stained hands (from spices) and was handling money. Very good Indian food. It does not have a large menu and may not have all the great indian dishes in nicer restaurants, but the food tastes amazing. Very homemade-esque (and I'm indian). I was surprised by their daal sabzi mix, I swear my parents made something similar when I was younger. Naan was good with the food as well. Only gripe is they used bones with their meat but it's also the best Indian restaurant for the $, so highly recommend. read more

This place has been the go to take out spot for me and my family for years now. The food always comes out tasting amazing, and is also very consistent. They've also never messed up any of our orders, and for how much we get food from here it's pretty impressive lol. Got the samosa, butter chicken, mutton biryani, and kheer plus naan. Samosas were decent, the entrees were incredibly flavorful and large portions. The biryani had to be the best I've ever had...and I'm a biryani addict. The kheer was perfectly flavored. Naan was a bit lacking in my opinion but this was delivery and naan should be eaten fresh so I can't hold it against them. Especially after the dinner was so delish. I called to tell them I'd ordered delivery and that I was staying in a hotel and they were kind enough to make sure I had enough utensils and plates to enjoy my meal away from home. I came here for the first time the other day. I usually go to the taco place a few doors down, but I decided to give this place a try. As soon as my brother and I walked in, we were seated and brought waters. The server was probably also the owner. He wasn't super friendly, but it felt like how a family member would talk to you at home. You know...not mean but not friendly either lol. However, still genuine. He checked up on his a few times throughout the dine in and made sure we were satisfied. Anyways, we ordered one samosa for the each of us. They were very cheap and when they came out, I realized exactly why. They were the size of a Dorito. For entrees, we ordered the chicken cholee and chicken palak. I've never tried either of those dishes so I was quite excited. The food came out in about 15 minutes. Both were very delicious! They tasted like home cooked meals - so authentic. The spinach was so flavorful and the chicken peeled right off the bone. Very generous serving sizes I must admit as well. To add to this, their chutney and version of the sweet tamarind sauce is memorable! The service is okay, but that shouldn't stop anyone from eating here. It is delicious here! Some of the best Pak / Indian food I've ever eaten. The chicken cholee, biryani and naan were outstanding, perfectly spiced, not too much grease. The serving sizes are generous. Hard to believe they offer these at less than $10 per entree. The only downer was the samosa. Unlike the main courses, I think they purchased these from an outside company--pre-made--and heated them in the oven. First time ordering delivery from this restaurant. My husband and I enjoyed it immensely!! I highly recommend the mango shake. My husband got the mango lassi I didn't really care for it. It's tart a little sour. He loved it though. The shake takes like a frothy smoothie. Super good. The mutton is delicious! The yogurt sauce is also really yummy. The serving are pretty big. I have practically tried all veggie items on their menu and some non-veg as well when I was still a non - vegetarian. -Freshest and very well cooked nan and even the veggie biryani is 8/10. -aloo baingan is so good, 10/10. -chhole is too oily. -order ahead to avoid long wait time. - I love the fact that the place is so welcoming and casual contrary to the cold ambience in other Indian and Pakistani restaurants. -I always feel satisfied after eating here unlike other places where the food a bit too oily and tastelessly creamy. read more
