I feel very lucky to have found them. My tax preparer there was Ana Cardona. I was very impressed with the process they have there and especially Ana. She was very precise as well very knowledgeable about tax preparation. I learned things about my tax return that I had never known before. She answered all of my questions as well as going over my finished tax return with much detail. I brought all of the paperwork needed and we went over our tax return, line by line. What was also very impressive, after she entered my information into their tax program, we were able to complete the process right there and was told that our return would be submitted electronically that day. As our yearly tax refund is an important part of our yearly budgeting, to do this process so quickly was very unexpected and helpful. Despite the fact that Cecily provided some useful information (hence the 2 and not 1 star review), her attitude and personality was abrupt and, some might say, hostile. I was stressed about the letter, and rather than try to put me to ease and reflect an attitude that "we would be able to figure it out," she was very aggressive and demanding in her questioning. I felt like I was being interrogated and this was not AT ALL what I wanted or needed as someone who was relatively new at filing my taxes and receiving my first letter from the IRS. She honestly had zero bedside manner and even if I had made a completely egregious error on my filing, I did not feel as though her approach was appropriate or skilled in any way. It's very possible that I misread Cecily and that she was trying to be helpful and this was her way of doing that but I honestly think she might want to know that her clients may very well have this reaction to her given that she likely deals with a large client base. To be fair, I will say that I was with my Fiancé during the meeting and she did not have the same intensely negative reaction as me, however I usually do not feel this way after receiving face-to-face services and therefor feel compelled to write this review. I was also not prepared for the $135 she charged me for a 22 minute meeting. She was not up front about this prior to the meeting when I spoke with her over the phone. I…read morehave found that he doesn't take any responisbility for mistakes he makes, he is never on time, he is not up to date and makes uninformed statements about the tax rules or send wrong forms. And even if you send him tax information months before the filing deadline, he sometimes waits until the filing day to complete the return. All this happened to us in a 18 months working relationship. In his defense, he is a tax preparer, not a CPA, but he charges more than some CPAs for tax preparation. In detail: 1. Luis forgot to include a $30K deduction on my tax return which, had it not been detected by me, would have cost me several thousand dollars. Instead of apologizing for the oversight and offering to fix it immediately with an amended return, he asked me to come to his office to discuss it. By this time, I had already switched to a CPA. 2. My partner sent him his tax organizer in February so that his taxes could be completed well before the April rush. Instead, Luis asked him to come into his office on the afternoon of April 15 (the tax day itself) to sign the forms and pay for his services, leaving no time to review the return in detail. Luis was stressed because his software had failed on tax day, but luckily my partner was available to come into his office that afternoon, he was able to get the software working, and the tax return was filed before midnight on April 15. 3. Email replies take up to ten business days, according to his automatic response email. However, sometimes it can take weeks to get a response.
