We were partially at fault for not checking and rechecking how much we were going to be billed. She sent a pre-meeting form to be filled out. When we filled it out, she asked if we wanted her to look at it. I said yes. When I did that, I was, in effect authorizing her to charge us for looking at the form that she asked us to fill out. What we really should have done is ask her to ONLY look at our finances during the 1 hour meeting we had, NOT ask for a follow up to our meeting and state clearly that we could only afford to pay for 1 hour. Her fee of $900 is way morre than what we will make on the interest on the money we are investing. Lesson learned. For you, make sure the billing is SUPER clear and repeat your budget before any meeting or email. Other than that, she is super nice and very skilled.

I had a consultation with Jennifer this week and in 30 minutes, I literally understood more about my finances than in my entire life. Writing a review for my financial planner was not on my Bingo card for my life. But when Jenni,…read moreLisa, and Cathy at Modern Family Finance are as fantastic as they are, it has to be done. To set the scene: I don't know anything about money, or the market, or really budgeting, if we're being honest. My working class family didn't know anything to teach me, and I was resistant to learning because I was sure it would mean discomfort at best and shame at worst. Luckily, opposites attract, and my spouse is a Responsible Adult who wanted to manage some inheritance in addition to our weirdly/ unnecessarily complicated financial situation. Enter: Modern Family Finance, referred to us by a friend. In my mind, they are fantastic for three main reasons. 1.) Based on what I just described, you will not be surprised to learn that I truly have no clue as to the wizardry they do with investing, but I love this. As far as I'm concerned, my accounts are like little Tamagotchis that I get to occasionally login to check and see how they're thriving. Our money is doing great, our finances are tidy, and our goals are being met! My Responsible Adult spouse DOES want to know, and Modern Family is an open book and wants to teach. Everyone wins! 2) The whole process of working together centers around YOUR particular and specific needs, goals, and personal priorities. They keep in mind both short term needs and long term visions to help you get and stay on track. I really appreciated the emotional intelligence and care Jenni brings, especially to our early meetings, and I still think about the questions she asked to help us understand our own relationships to money, and what needs to heal to move forward. They truly work with you where you are. Their approach is clearly not just about managing money, but building quality of life and empowerment. 3) They are truly the kindest people you could hope to work with. Getting me to respond to an email about life insurance or the 401K from ten years ago is like trying to put a cat in a bathtub, but somehow, miraculously, they don't judge. The team is thoroughly patient, kind, ridiculously detail oriented, and in general the most delightful people you'd hope to meet. As a queer couple navigating major life transitions, they give us clarity, patience, and structure without overwhelm. We'll be clients for life.

In short, I need Andrei. I have known Andrei for years, and during that time have often been impressed with his professionalism, his know-how, and his kind, patient, and friendly manner. I knew I was capable of getting things under control, but the road from here to there just seemed to hard to navigate without a map. Kathryn gave me that map. Gently, over the course of several sessions (and without judgment -- I can't tell you how valuable THAT is) Kathryn helped me and my sweetie figure out where our money went -- and then start channeling it in more productive ways. One cool thing about her is that Kathryn tries to get to the bottom of why you behave the way you do around money. (It's like food or sex -- it makes you act weird and crazy, but you can change all that if you respect what got you to this place, right?) She doesn't scold or shame you -- just has a great, positive attitude to help you go forward. I'll admit, it seems daunting, when you already have money woes, to spend a chunk of change on financial counseling. But when you're set up with a debt-reduction plan, monthly and yearly spending plans, and most important of all, a three-tiered savings plan, you'll see what a good investment that is.

**Review:** If it were possible to give negative stars, I…read morewould do so without hesitation for Debra Dolch Fiduciary. My experience with them has been nothing short of a nightmare, especially concerning my autistic young son's care. As a parent and co-conservator, I entrusted Debra Dolch Fiduciary with the responsibility of managing my son's affairs. However, their performance has been shockingly inadequate and harmful. Instead of providing the necessary support and understanding for his unique needs, they have consistently made decisions that jeopardize his well-being. Their actions include dictating care through their own trust arrangements, which have resulted in severe neglect of crucial aspects of my son's health and development. This negligence has not only compromised his safety but has also led to significant financial mismanagement. I am deeply distressed by the impact of Debra Dolch Fiduciary's incompetence on my son's life and our family's well-being. Their lack of empathy and competence in handling autism-related challenges has exacerbated our situation and caused immense hardship. Furthermore, navigating their bureaucracy feels like fighting against a political machine and a good old boys network. It's clear that personal connections and politics dictate decisions more than genuine care and competence. Additionally, caregivers like Melissa Kusiak and attorney Debra Fox have shown themselves to be untrustworthy, petitioning to remove Jack's mom, me, and grandmother from the conservatorship. This move has left us suspended and vulnerable to what feels like exploitation and mismanagement. Their actions have shown a complete disregard for Jack's well-being and seem motivated by personal gain rather than genuine care. For any parent considering Debra Dolch Fiduciary for trustee services, especially for a child with special needs, like autism, I strongly advise looking elsewhere. Their inability to meet basic standards of care and their disregard for my son's best interests have left me with no choice but to seek alternative solutions with an expensive and competent trust attorney. Buyer beware...If you don't like being a mother, if you like being stripped of all your civil liberties, if you enjoy being told how to parent, if you enjoy being insulted, and treated like your an idiot, micromanaged, with a trust left for the care of your family member, while the trustee steals the profits, this is the circus for you. If not, run away, do not walk. It's an insanity you cannot escape. They play it time and time again. My son is receiving less than 1% of his trust. Debra Dolch, Debra Fox, and Melissa Kusiak, are headed for big issues with misconduct and fraud issues. Susan H. Roth (650) 759-6915 SUSANROTH87@me.com
