First we hired Best to fix a cracked water seal pan in the upstairs standup shower...they fixed it to perfection while completely rebuilding the shower, the tiles, and the pipes. This time - we hired Best to do a complete bathroom renovation... I just continue to be blown away by the owner - Steve Best. His communication is what sets him apart from every other contractor. He's basically a customer's dream to partner with on a project. Rebecca at the office emails you for the admin side - keeping aligned with updates and transactions. Steve texts/calls you almost daily with the gameplan, the strategic approach, the agenda and schedule. I'm so thankful because unlike most contractors, Steve keeps everything on schedule - running daily - and makes sure his team gets to the finish line efficiently, quickly, and to satisfaction. Steve's crew works every day...and they put in a full day's work. They don't leave you hanging, they don't ghost you for days upon weeks without explanation and they NEVER leave a mess. They work super clean and always pickup after themselves. They start the job. They work at the job every day. They finish the job. All along the journey you're clued in, you're given timelines and reasoning...and you're a part of a collaboration with Steve to make sure the job gets done right! If there were a grade higher than A+ ...that's what I'd give Steve and his crew. HIRE THEM ASAP, you'll have zero regrets!

We really have no complaints at all, we'd absolutely use them again.

Slightly more affordable, 1000% more honest, and friendly. I worked with Tom and don't rember names of people who did the work but everything was great. If you want an extra box of flooring make sure you ask for it before they deliver the wood/laminate/vinyl for your project or you may need to pay shipling for it.

When our puppy did too many accidents in our upstairs area, we replaced the hallway and master bedroom with Kardean Luxury Vinyl Tile. At the time, Exploring Flooring did not glue down LVT and only had the lock down type, so we used another company. We love the livability and washability of Luxury Vinyl Tile. Our friend who installs these floors commercially recommended the Kardean brand and to do the glue down version. He was spot on. Recently, I had a measuring done to either refinish our downstairs cherrywood floors or cover them with Kardean vinyl. Tom came out right away but got confused as to my email address. I think they need a company email address, because we played a bit of email tag trying to communicate. Some things that I wonder about. The other company that came out was willing to fix up some not so great areas with new cherrywood trim--ie around half bath vanity that has bare gap areas at bottom and fp that has a very large gap around it (EF said for me to use some type of expandable filler but I think that will be ugly in a inch or more gap). EF also said they don't install new quarter round trim around floor which is a nice touch another place does as standard. You could always hire it out, I suppose. The cherrywood trim pieces is more of an issue for me. Exploring Flooring's quote for refinishing our cherrywood is around $900 less than the other place, so I guess it equals out. The other place wanted $5400 for about a 530 square foot area, so I thought that was a bit pricey. Exploring Flooring is $4500. As far as luxury vinyl quote to glue down Kardan on top of the hardwood, I'm still waiting, but the quote to float Kardean tile on top of the existing floor (an option, but not my fav) is the same as the other company. However, no particular type of Kardean is mentioned, even though I requested the quote on Tergo. All in all, a bit of a hassle to get specifics, but may be a great option overall, if overall pricing is better.

The front of the show room boasts a beautiful island, kitchen cabinets, and an oven range to die for. It's a great spot for mingling and enjoying examples of what Liam Brex has to offer. In the back is another kitchen set up with yet another gorgeous island, oven range, built in drawers, and surprise refrigerators. I loved the wine cellar cabinet and fridge space in the island! I have to say, it's pretty genius to utilize their space after hours for local events. Not only is it the perfect place for gathering , cooking, or baking, but a wonderful opportunity for Liam Brex to introduce their work. I've lived in Naperville most of my life and had no idea this was here despite them being founded back in 2007. I know down the line a kitchen and bath remodel will be in our future, so I will for sure be keeping this business in mind for guidance.

This job was a disaster from start to finish…read more When we originally received our quote from Mary we wanted to move forward with them but we had to put the project on hold for awhile because my husband lost his job. By the time we were able to move forward, costs had increased, and we understood and accepted that. The new contract, however, was somewhat vague. Because we had discussed in detail everything we wanted done, we trusted that Mary understood the scope of the project and would communicate that clearly to Luis. Unfortunately, the communication between Mary and Luis was extremely poor. At least 3 or 4 times during the process, we had issues because things were not being done the way we had originally discussed them with Mary. When we tried to address these concerns with Luis, he would become angry and Mary would not return our calls. We were left trying to resolve problems without effective communication or any support from the person who had originally discussed the project with us. There were also no simple drawings or diagrams to make sure everyone was working from the same understanding. As a result, our furnace closet was framed significantly larger than what we wanted. It had to be partially redone. We do not believe we should have been responsible for paying for this correction when the issue resulted from inadequate communication. Nevertheless, we were pressured into absorbing half the cost of that mistake. The project was also seriously delayed. At some point, they accepted another job while our project was still underway. We had multiple days when there was no crew working on our project. One or two workers were also out sick and because there were 2 jobs going simultaneously, they didn't have anyone to fill in. The work fell significantly behind schedule. This created a great deal of inconvenience and frustration for us. We were also not adequately consulted about important style decisions. Our home is located in a historic district, and we specifically wanted the trim, hardware, and other details to be consistent with the character and style of the home. However, they were planning to install modern-looking hardware on our cabinetry without discussing options with us or getting our approval first. There were other similar issues throughout the project. For example, a door was installed that did not match the style of the other doors in the space. Luis was angry about the fact that the door needed to be replaced. This was not simply a matter of us changing our minds after the work was completed. We expected to be consulted about visible design choices, particularly given the historic character of our home. Better communication and consultation before installation would have prevented unnecessary work, additional expense, and frustration. The quality of the workmanship was also very disappointing. The work often appeared rushed and cheaply done. At one point, Luis told us that if we wanted real wood on the cabinet doors under the stairs rather than plywood, we should have hired a carpenter. However, Mary was the one who presented Luis to us as a carpenter, saying he could build whatever we wanted. When Luis did build our cabinets, he used inexpensive materials, things were left uneven and the doors were not fully sanded and painted. When I asked him to take out 1 old shelf from under the stairs, he took them all out. When we pointed this out, we were told we would have to pay to have new shelves put in. When we pointed out other work that was not being done properly and we did not want to pay until it was fixed, Luis became hostile and repeatedly threatened to take us to court and said that he would not finish the job. His behavior in our home made us extremely uncomfortable and was unprofessional. Despite the fact that there was still work that needed to be corrected and completed, we asked them not to return. We felt that the communication problems, delays, poor workmanship, and hostile interactions made it impossible to continue the project with them. We are now left having to find and pay another contractor to finish and correct the work. Overall, this was an extremely uncomfortable and frustrating experience. We expected professional communication, competent workmanship, and accountability when problems arose. Instead, we were left with unfinished and poorly executed work, significant delays, additional costs, and the expense of hiring someone else to complete the project.
