I wanted egg foo young and looked for local restaurants in the area and saw that they had decent reviews. Upon arrival, I noticed that the interior was reminiscent of many Chinese restaurants in NYC, not too clean looking and kinda dingy creepy. I knew I was taking a chance as roaches are usually out when nobody is around. I took a chance and ordered the food. They service was rather quick and the food was warm when I arrived home. I dug right in. It was pretty good and I enjoyed it going down. I made sure not to look too close as I really wanted to eat it. I just was never able to shake the feeling that they weren't too clean and maybe I ate something other than shrimp. For that reason I probably won't be back. That's just the fact. I needed to chime in here. This is definitely the "hood spot" Chinese food place and you shouldn't expect anything more from them. Don't mind the standoffish attitude. Just think about all the drunks that pour in from the bar next door. They are extremely ignorant and it can be frustrating dealing with that. Or the elementary kids that run in causing all sorts of chaos. So they don't jump up and smile at everyone that walks in. It's ok. It's not a 5 star restaurant here. There's a small waiting area with a couple of tables that you can sit and wait but this is not a place to order and eat in. The food is always cooked properly...meaning cooked all the way thru, unlike some places I've been to. They make their own homemade duck sauce which is amazing! And they have plenty of specials to choose from if you have a large family. I love the options. They have come to my rescue twice already when I've had a function at my house and ran out of the already catered or home cooked food that was available. I picked up lunch today from Hing Long and was disappointed, first off, because they did not have diet soda for the other member of my party. Also, there was a $10 card minimum, so although I had not intended to have Chinese for lunch, I was forced to tack on some chicken nuggets. The nuggets came with fries which were flavorless and soggy, but the nuggets were delicious. You could tell they were made with real meat. Extremely rude, this lady doesn't acknowledge anyone i don't know what her deal was. She just seemed pissed that she's working and people are buying Chinese food. Mind you I don't really eat Chinese food and if I do it's not from here. But I do know why I will not come here. Her attitude is very disgusting. I was horrified waiting for the food because her dry dusty attitude. If you want a quick bite of Chinese food I recommend not to come here. What they gave me didn't even have what I wanted it was very limited, I can actually count how many pieces of pork that was in the rice. The restaurant is very out dated, messy, Needs to cleaned, furniture needs to be repaired basically get new ones, the menus are out dated and needs new menus. This place gets a zero. I thoroughly enjoy eating there. Although the place is mixed with other businesses along a court in appearance it has good ambiance and delicious well prepared Chinese food. I usually obtain a combination platter and it is usually good tasty food served with pork fried rice. The people are friendly and work hard to maintain a fine quality! Above average restaurant is exceptional in making well cooked and delightful food fast. I have been well greeted promptly every time I come in. I'm even reminded by the women at the counter when I forget soy sauce and duck sauce. The delivery is very good, on time. Parking can be a challenge but usually obtainable. I highly recommend it! I moved to Valley Stream a year ago and my friends and myself enjoy eating here too. read more
