The only Chinese takeout spot that really matters to me. Their kitchen is kept clean, relative to other spots I'd frequent prior to discovering KW's thirteen years ago. Prior to Covid (& the fire on the block they're located on), they had dine-in featured which was convenient. Today, the foot traffic would not make that conducive for me. I grew up on Kim Wong, as they had the best Hot & Sour Soup, ever. Through the years they changed owners, but always kept that same recipe...until last time I picked up from here. I guess they changed owners and lost the recipe, as the soup was pitiful and brown, not the pink/reddish delight as it always was. This is one of the best spots for chinese food. A shrimp fried rice is a must have. The crab ragoon is good too.

Yum Yum Yum. I ordered the shrimp with broccoli. The sauce was so good. I was practically licking the plate. My wife ordered the pepper steak and the steak was cooked perfect and tender and the sauce was exceptional. The vegetables were crispy and delicious, not over cooked. My one complaint is that the rice is a bit bland but that only the basic fried rice that comes with a lunch meal. read more

I have tried had many Chinese food spots around my area. This is by far the best. Always consistent. They always get the chicken wings right - each and every time. Never too greasy. This is not like the many other Chinese spots in the area, where it's either hit-or-miss depending on what time of the day you order. Please save yourself the trip from purchasing from this restaurant, I ordered fried plantains and chicken wings and they only put about 7 pieces of plaintains in my plate and it was for $9.95, I asked for barbecue sauce on the side and they told me it'll be an extra $1.50, so I asked if they can put it on the wings they told me $1.00. They try to suck out all the money you have, I've been to many other Chinese restaurants that don't ever charge extra for sauce. I will no longer be coming back to this place for food. Charging me extra for barbecue sauce is absurd! I'm very disappointed with the service I received. This is one of my local favorites. Everytime we order from here the food is good and fresh. The people that work here are polite and give great customer service for the most part. It's a little further than the Chinese restaurants in my immediate neighborhood but it is worth the trip. I wish this was on ubereats or seamless then I can have it delivered. I have been frequenting this little chinese restaurant for more than 15 years so my review might be a little biased. The service has always been quite friendly even with the difficulties in communication. They do speak English but sometimes gets hard to understand but that doesn't mean it should deter you. After many years I have learned that it is much better to call in advance instead of just walking in to order food. They don't have much seating (they only have two tables to actually sit at and some chairs to wait for your order) but the food is both tasty and quick. Most orders only take about 10-15 minutes to prepare, even shorter times when they aren't busy. For the amount of food and the price attached to it you truly can't beat Kim Wong. My favorite thing about Kim Wong is their lunch specials. You get a ton of food for a very low price. My favorite dish is the House Special Mei Fun. If you haven't tried it I truly recommend it. read more

The Salt & Pepper shrimp was all dough , flour. It was colorless and stuck together in one big blob. The crispy Orange Beef was of similar texture. All dough and no beef. This is the only decent Chinese Food take out in ALL of Valley Stream, and I've tried them All. They cook to order, are reasonably priced and open until late. They've been there since I first moved here almost 30 years ago. Its not a fancy place but reliable..always...and they deliver. I've had their lo mein, chicken wings, fried rice, wonton soup, eggrolls and sesame chicken and no complaints here. Recently I have been seeing the younger generation working the place, I guess the older owners are ready to pass the torch. I will continue to be a loyal customer. read more

I used to order here all the time but now I'm in search for a new spot. The last time my family and I ordered from here, the guy who answered the phone was very rude and this isn't the first time this occurs. We had to call him out on it and he apologized but then the food took so long to get here that we called to cancel the order, the man who picked up said it was no problem but 20 minutes later, the delivery man (who also I've had bad experiences with demanding tip) comes to the door and when it's told we had cancelled the ordered he literally started to yell at me and was trying to force me to pay and take the food until finally he left. I do not recommend this restaurant. The quality of the food they serve is, in my opinion, very bad. The dishes taste stale, particularly the meat dishes. I ordered barbeque ribs. They tasted dry, and had very little meat on the bones. They also have communication problems as they often fail to understand English well enough to get an order correct. I ordered a pint of broccoli in sauce, and when I picked up the order, it was made as a combination meal, which was not what I ordered. As a combination it cost more than just plain broccolli. I also ordered pork fried rice with no egg, because I am allergic to egg. When I picked the order, the rice had egg in it. This has happened several times before. Also their prices are higher than other area Chinese Restaurants for comparative dishes, and are grossly inflated in my opinion. I was charged $10 for a barbeque spare rib combination that costs $6.80 or 7.50 in other restaurants. I am NEVER ordering from them again. read more
