Ripoff. I called and asked for someone to come out and identify my pests (which I'd already been told were carpenter ants). The clerk said I had to send some photos (??) and that she would "have someone look at the photos and THEN " set me up for "quarterly service." I said clearly I wanted ONE visit and treatment and I'd decide about a "contract" later. Meanwhile I found someone else who came out, did a great job when the clerk at Hired Kilers had said they would "try" to call me in about a week. As a courtesy I called back to HK to let them know I had found someone. I swear the clerk said, "oh yes I see you are signed up for our yearly service." BEWARE!!!! read more

Hired Killers has been servicing our home for over 3 years. We initially had issues with spiders, scorpions and ants that had created a mound in our front window. Manny has been our technician all but maybe one service at our home. He is always pleasant to speak with, he listens to your needs and gives options to work with your needs. We have the quarterly service and have not had any reoccurrence of the pest issues we originally called them for. read more

I'm pretty sure our house was built on a scorpion nest of epic proportions because for years we were seeing 1-4 scorpions on the daily. We got a hold of these guys and signed up for their quarterly treatment service. After every treatment we see a significant difference in our creepy crawlers! It has also helped that we started closing all our drains as well after use as per their technicians suggestion. I swear for years we had tried everything to put a dent in those suckers and nothing worked. But closing the drains seriously made one of the biggest improvements in the numbers we were seeing! They also helped us to catch and treat a serious termite problem that had gone unnoticed and saved us from any further damages to our home. Now, so long as we stay on schedule with our treatments we maybe see one or two every 3 months. Thank goodness! There was even a point when centipedes decided to make an entrance into the game of making us never sleep again, but thankfully we gave hired killers a call and they came and did a little touch up for free and saved us from having to but. The place down whole! Pricing is fair, techs are wonderful! Can always talk to someone when I call and they are on top of billing and scheduling. Love em! read more

It's been a while since we lived in Rainbow Ranch, but I was recently reminded how good a job these guys did for us when we lived in the Lone Star state. Their claim to kill scorpions was truthful! During construction, our workers ran the A/C and left all the doors open while working. The bark scorpions promptly moved in en masse, and took root. We found one or two scorpions a day the first few months. The first exterminator didn't have much effect. Then (was it Gino?) came out, and it was over. We still found one or two a day, but they were either dead or dying. And within six months, the colony was basically wiped out. After that, we'd find maybe one every three or four weeks...always dead or dying. Now that we're in California, we can't find an exterminator that can even kill a spider. I miss living where you get to play with the good chemicals. I wish we could fly Hired Killers to our place here in the Golden State. Spider city here, with no end in sight. But no scorpions. read more

The techs are super nice but the office staff is horrible. They treat you like your the worst human on the planet for having a pest problem. Never ever again I do not recommend them to ANYONE! The owner, Chris should seriously become a leader and address the lack of communications with their customers, employees and lame management. They are quick to complete a work order but inept in listening to the customer and satisfy their concerns. Yesterday I paid $200.27 without Hired Killers addressing my problem, even after 2nd visit! Eric came out first 2 weeks ago and told me I had moths in my pantry and I needed a treatment he did not have on his truck. I was told to call the office and make another appointment and he would make a note regarding what was needed. The "tech", Hunter came out yesterday and knew nothing about my issue and told to call the office to schedule another appointment! We're done with Hired Killers and we suggest to save your money and call a pest control company that listens to the customer and doesn't just do the expensive cookie cutter walk around spray treatment! Wake up Chris, you're losing your long term customers quickly! read more

Rebecca in the office is the reason for my 1 star review and the reason I have cancelled service. I was charged for an appointment that I never agreed to. Also, on the same day someone came out for service call, I told Eric in the office I had not agreed to this appointment. I was sent a bill for service, when I called questioning this I talked to Rebecca who was very hostile and basically called me a liar. Service technician Manny is great. I have used Hired Killers in the past with excellent service. The service I received this week for a swarm of carpenter ants was superb. We have brand new puppies and I've been exhausted with being up for many nights helping them nurse. When My patio wax covered with writhing big black ants I was beyond stressed and frightened for the safety of the tiny puppies. The ladies in the office were reassuring and comforting on the phone and when I brought in samples. The star of my service was Eric who I had met while he was servicing a neighbor's house. He has the perfect personality for his profession. He gave me a good lesson on how to remove moisture laden areas from around the house including gutters and tree branches. He explained the types of damage termites or ants do differently. He was professional, friendly and a gentleman. The best marketing a business can have us good service. All of my service was stellar and Eric is a true asset to their company. Thank you all for saving my week! read more

Terrible phone etiquette by office personnel and especially the owner. Rude and unconcerned. Good field technicians. It's a shame.

Hired Killers Exterminators came out to our house on 9/17/14 to treat our home. A significant part of the treatment was to include dusting for scorpions in our attic. When the service man attempted to do the dusting, it appears he tried a short-cut, with disastrous results. Instead of going up into the attic, (which is very large), he just tried putting the large hose through the ceiling opening. Shortly after he started the machine, the hose pulled away from the machine, spraying white powder all over my daughter's room. He was appropriately apologetic and spent a little bit of time cleaning up, but after he left there was still a fine layer of white powder on everything in the room. My wife and daughter spent an incredible amount of time (several days) painstakingly cleaning it off (and out of) furniture, door and window frames, bookshelves, books, trinkets, and everything else in the room, as well as washing all the bedding. One item that had to be taken outside and scrubbed down was a four-foot tall bird cage for my daughter's green-cheeked conure. The powder (which was diatomaceous earth) is potentially harmful to birds, particularly because of very fine sharp edges that can hurt lungs and throats. (Hired Killers told us that the powder was completely safe and could not harm the bird, but our research indicated it was not a closed question. In any event, we were not willing to take that chance.) I understand that accidents can occur in any business and that Hired Killers did not intend for this to happen. My complaint is with how they dealt with it. After a couple of days, I decided I needed to make sure the management at Hired Killers knew what had happened, and to try to get some answers about how such an attic dusting is supposed to be done. I called and asked for Chris, one of the owners. I knew Chris because Hired Killers' office had been next door to mine when they were in Dripping Springs. I left Chris a message, including who I was and why I was calling, but received no call back. I called two more times with the same result. Finally, I was told I would need to talk to "Ty", who I think they said was their service manager. After a couple of calls, I finally spoke with Ty and explained what had happened. He was mostly unapologetic and dismissive of any concerns about the bird. He made no offer to help with any of the cleaning or to compensate for all of the time we had spent cleaning up after their mistake. I told him it was obvious that the attic had not been dusted, because while there was a little dust right at the entrance to the attic, there was none past just a couple of feet of the entrance. I asked what the standard procedure for attic dusting was: just sticking a tube through the opening and spraying all over everything (including the AC components in the attic) or going up into it and spraying more deliberately. Ty said he would look into what happened and get back to me with answers. I did not hear back from Ty. Finally, on October 24th, my wife received a call from Hired Killers asking when we were going to pay our bill (approx. $200). She told them we were still waiting for a call back from Ty. Later that day, Ty finally called and left me a message. He said he had learned from his billing folks that our bill had not been paid and that he recalled there was something about needing to dust our attic. He said nothing about the prior mishap, or about any of the answers he was supposed to have been getting for me. I did not return the call, in part because I was too incensed about the amount of time we had already spent without even a hint of concern from Hired Killers about what they had done. We have never heard back from them either, except regular calls and messages trying to find out when we are going to pay our bill. Recently we received another bill from them, including a finance charge. Today, along with posting this review, I am sending Hired Killers a check for full payment of our bill (minus the finance charge) in order to remove any question that we are just trying to get out of paying our bill. We are doing this despite the fact that a substantial part of the work was never completed (the attic dusting), that my wife and daughter spent many hours cleaning, and that I've wasted a lot of time trying to give the company an opportunity to correct what started out as an unfortunate and unintentional accident. This has never been about a bill in our eyes, but rather a serious failure in customer service on the part of Hired Killers. The description of their business on YELP says that "we are sure to provide you with the best treatment the first time. Our technicians are hourly employees and not motivated by the quantity of treatments they perform (like most other companies), but are motivated and paid bonuses based on the QUALITY of their treatment." Sadly, this has certainly not been our experience. read more
