Thank you for making us feel super welcomed to Lead by giving us delicious shots on the shotski and new friendships! I feel like I met a lot of folks from Lead! The drinks are well priced, there's a pool table, darts, and karaoke on Saturday nights! Additionally, they allow you to order in pizza from the joint next door if you get hungry. So, pretty good for a Hampton Inn, with a few hiccups…read more We stayed here for 3 nights in a king bedroom suite. We arrived at 3PM, which is check in time, and our room was not ready. Our room was not ready until 5:30. As we had just flown in from Florida, I really wanted to go to the room and change out of our travel clothing, but that was not an option. Our first afternoon in Deadwood was effectively ruined as there was nowhere to leave our bags and change clothing. The hotel was recently remodeled, so our rooms were very nice, and the mattresses were comfortable. The shower was fine although the water temperature fluctuated, and it was impossible to find the exact point that wasn't either too hot or too cold. The whole hotel vibrated constantly, which made a bunch of appliances in the room rattle or even make weirder noises. I had to leave the microwave door open because closed, the rattling was too loud for the kids to sleep. Breakfasts in the breakfast room were typical Hampton and quite good (for being free). Very friendly staff. Waffle machine with two flavor options and all sorts of different toppings, breakfast sausage, fried eggs, oatmeal, biscuits and gravy, toast and cereal. Juice and coffee. On our last day, there was no breakfast offered at Hampton. We were redirected to the restaurant at the Sheraton Four Points. Of course, that place wasn't open yet. And, once we arrived, they were not expecting us, and they wanted a coupon that had not been provided by the Hampton. Thankfully, it was just a short walk back to get things sorted, and thankfully, we weren't in a rush that morning, but still. Parking is across the street. It's through the casino. You need a new scan code each time you drive through, which comes from the front desk. Because of the delay in our check in, our parking was comped, but I believe it's about $15/day. The lot is long and narrow, and if there are big pick up trucks, it feels cramped and precarious.

We were wandering around town on a Saturday night and were thrilled to come across Kodiak's. We loaded up our cards and shot hoops and rolled skee-balls to our hearts' content. We got really into the Jurassic Park dinosaur shooter and I raced over to the counter to load up my card for another play. The owner mentioned she would load my card for free because she had just cashed out. I asked when they closed and it turned out we were 5 minutes past but she said "it's not a big deal at all!" and reassured me it was fine to finish our game. We went out to cash out our tickets and ended up talking to the owner for at least 20 minutes about how she ended up in South Dakota, and she was a riot!! We had a blast and would definitely come back.

Deadwood Naughti Wine on the other hand, nice enough staff but they would only allow us to taste already open wines. Would not sell me a glass of a requested wine because they did not have one open. How do you do a tasting if you're only tasting the wines that no one is interested in tasting? If they never open a wine how can they let you try any other wine? It makes no sense and made it an easy decision to not buy any wine from deadwood Naughti. They need to rethink that whole "it's not open" line. Bad experience!!

We said OKAY, but we want to taste a dry white as well. Well, we said never mind, we would just like a glass of Complicated (which we tried in Hill City Naughty and loved). Complicated was also on the menu at Naked. The individual stated that we could not have that because there was not a bottle open. We said, can't you open a bottle and she said no, "we cannot afford to keep opening bottles". WHAT, there were two of us that wanted a glass. We now wonder if we just bought a bottle of it and asked her to open it, if she would have done that. Naked winery should take lessons from naughty winery.

Learning about this place made me appreciate the community they have here. The staff here were decorating for the Halloween season and they were all very friendly. The whole place had a really good vibe. They offer $1 and $2 beers, and other freebies like a hot dog, depending . I love any business that offers free and low-cost items to draw you in because then even if you lose you still feel like you got something out of it. With so many places to gamble in Deadwood, come to a spot with real history and real community that treats you like the valuable customer you are.
