We visited the main building which had many examples of artifacts that reflect what time was like in FL back in time. My favorites were seeing the Victorian Doll Houses and seeing how detailed the homes were. I also loved seeing the dolls and the types of clothes they would be wearing by decade. My favorite was walking through the back. It was a nice sized village that had a church, school, train station, home, grove, garage, tool shed, barn, etc. There was a number of activities, actual people dressed back in time, animals, etc. There is a lot to see here. They often have special events throughout the year. If you like their Facebook, their events will pop up. Their next event has to do with their popular homemade sugar cane. That event will be Jan. 9. This place is fun, pretty, & educational at the same time.

We had the pleasure of attending a wedding at this beautiful venue. It is a hidden work of art just…read morenorth of Dade City. The route to the barn takes you through winding country roads of Old Florida. When you pull into the property, it immediately delights the eyes as the barn is just perfect in the middle of a field that has huge oak trees. The ceremony was setup underneath one of the pieces of natures artwork of an oak tree. White chairs and wood benches were partially under to. As the sun was starting to set, the ceremony began. No matter where the photographers stood, there was an amazing shot. After the ceremony, the guests were guided to the cocktail hour on the opposite side of the gigantic barn. High tops were nicely decorated. Drinks and finger food was displayed on two long tables. My kids along with many others were enjoying the wood swing under another oak tree. The grass was just the right length to not mess up your attire. Guests were having a wonderful time taking photos of the landscape. Now the moment we were all waiting for, entrance into the barn was well-worth the wait. When you walk in, the barn opens up into wood ceilings with huge chandeliers that romantically create the mood for the event. At the back of the barn, on the wall was a white sheer curtain lit was tiny lights. In front of that was the bridal party's table. In the back right corner was the bar. The back left corner was the DJ. In the middle of the barn were big round tables and several long tables. Everyone was allowed to pick their seating family style. The restrooms were decorated and extremely clean. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive to the guests. (I do not know if the venue has its own staff or if they were brought in with a caterer.) It was a wedding from dreams and fairy tales. Everything was perfect from beginning to end. I wish I had taken more pictures of the venue but I spent so much time taking pictures of my family at the venue. Celebration of Lights at Homosassa State Park puts on a great show…read more You will notice there are two parking lots. The one that is on this address is the main parking lot. It is further than the other parking lot, but I love the tram they take you on. It's so breezy, comfortable, and fun. The other parking lot is smaller, so good if you come early, but the tram is a fun simple experience through the trees. You first walk into a park and there are a tunnel of lights. You will see the water with lots of fish, and what they call the fishbowl where the water is lit up at night, and it illuminates the water down below so nicely. Keep walking, and you will see a big house, which is their office area, and more restrooms for the public. You will here music and see lights. You will now find the main area of lights. It's not like a lot lot, but it's so concentrated, it looks beautiful, my most favorite Xmas lights this year. People are sitting since there are chairs, and some bring chairs. They are waiting for the show including synchronized lights, singing, Christmas carols, real Christmas manger, angels. It is a great show. We loved it. Perfect for Xmas eve. They have one day left this year, Sat. Dec. 26. Make sure to do it if you have a chance.

I'll start by telling you about the lady who manages the grounds. Her name is Teresa. She is so…read morefriendly and cares so very much about your stay at the camp. You'll see her working around the camp all day into the night, cleaning the showers and bathrooms, mowing lawn, doing the work of three men, emptying trash, asking how your stay is going. Oftentimes, as you drive up to the gate, Teresa will run out of her house with a big smile and offer to open the gate so you don't have to get out of the car. We we're sitting by the river one afternoon when Teresa was heading toward the church to clean and dust and mop. We asked her when the last time she's gotten into the river. To our surprise and dismay, she said it's been over 5 years. Teresa makes the camp what it is! I don't think we would keep coming back if she weren't here. She is a delightful lady. Our children and grandchildren love her. May your visit to Weeki Wachee Christian Camp be long remembered as a peaceful retreat! Thank you for having us. Kathie
