This was a lovely experience on my most recent visit to Nola, they are located approximately an hr. I was in town for the 50th Anniv Jazz Fest. Once we arrived the owner greeted us and explained everything, told us if we needed anything he lives on the grounds. Our room was very nice and clean, coffee machine outside the door with cream! The house was absolutely gorgeous, its historic and a gem. I walked around taking pics and then enjoyed the balcony overlooking the front yard. They do have rocking chairs for you to enjoy. I loved my room, lots of space, wifi, and the bed was comfy. We had a wonderful view from our room as well. Breakfast was homemade and plentiful, enough choices for all. I had a great experience and would return if in the area. They do have several style rooms you can choose from. I booked room on bookin.com.

I had a delicious lunch today at Butcher and Baker, located inside of the Inn!! I got the summer salad and potato soup, and my friend got the chicken salad on a fresh croissant. Everything was so flavorful and the service was excellent.

A-MAZ-ing window coverings - classic drapes & wall treatments, with added comfort for modern travelers- black out shades.

Very nice inn! We are NOT the B & B types, or the excited-by-Victorian-tchotchkes type either but this place is an exception! Excellent eye for detail and quality. Not only a great quality construction renovation a few years back, but the furnishings, fixtures and equipment are of excellent quality and interest - from the high quality art reproductions and window treatments, to formal Homer Laughlin place settings at breakfast, the inn keepers really have made a place with an eye for "the total experience." If not already betrothed, think about having your big event here! A couple of details I'd change: Again great quality foods at breakfast though could be more varied and the mattress was not as firm as I like. One hint: A bit more dusting/deep cleaning would help keep up the illusion of high style from other centuries.

The mansion is over 100 years old so don't expect it to be brand new, but filled with charm and a wonderful staff. Close to Toula shopping and restaurants, Five star restaurant is maybe 10 minutes away and is superb. Great couple getaway to relax and be on no time lines to help and destress from everyday life . Nice to wake up and talk over coffee on the gorgeous southern balcony. This is our third visit in 5 years and we always book the balcony rooms

This is a beautiful bed and breakfast. We stayed here for Valentine's Day. The property is gorgeous and it's nice to walk around the gardens. Our room was big and comfortable. The bed was super comfortable. There was a balcony that had lovely views over the gardens. They do have a pool and a hot tub to relax in. The morning breakfast was set up in a gorgeous dinning room. And we had the company of a pretty cat while we ate. I would definitely stay here again!

Isnt it charming?!?

This was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in!! The room was super clean and comfy! Direct tv! The air conditioning worked excellently!! THE GROUNDS WERE B E A U T I F U L!!!!! so beautiful that people even have their weddings there! Which is super charming! We stayed there over Mardi Gras weekend. The drive is fairly easy to New Orleans! I would stay there again next time I go to Louisiana for sure! I stayed in the venician suite and it made me want to go back to Venice! We woke up and had breakfast, which was SUPER delicious & then took a stroll around the land, we took a ton of pictures!! Don't hesitate to book you next stay here! You will NOT regret it!!!

This is my home when in the Hammond/New Orleans/Baton Rouge area. It is a quintessential taste of the south. The beautiful plantation style home with all of its creaky floors and hidden doors and interesting spaces represent elegance and style. Our bedroom was tastefully decorated, spacious and well appointed. There is a common area upstairs with a fridge and coffee set-up. The upstairs balcony is my favorite place to hang out with a glass of wine. The perfect way to end a day. The owners/operators of the Inn are friendly and accommodating. They live on site and are very prompt in their response to any assistance you may need. The grounds are pretty and for the most part, well maintained. There is a beautiful water feature in the front yard that gives this Inn spectacular curb appeal. As hard as is is to say anything negative, in the spirit of full disclosure I will add, it was under minor construction while we were there this time. There was some painting and serious landscape work going on last time. While necessary and only a minor inconvenience, it does in a small way take away from the experience of being there. I'm already looking forward to my next visit. My home away from home.

So nice

Ask the Community - Historic Michabelle Inn

I am trying to find a Bed and Breakfast place where you cannot hear the train running at night or early morning. Be honest - could you hear it? it looks close by.

I hear the train when I am out side. I live on the property so I am here all of the time. I suggest the Evangeline or Marie Antoinette rooms since they are on the opposite side of the house from the train.

Linda (the owner) gave us a fair&unbeatable price for the Larger poolside suite despite it being Mardi Gras, Valentine's day, as well as it being the weekend when we arrived. Linda was a DOLL! She took care of us, fluffed our room when we were out & reloaded our fridge with breakfast daily. She showed us around the place and welcomed us like family. I truly felt like I was at mom's house. True southern hospitality. We had a few good talks about the history of her house and her life as she once lived in New Orleans. My fiancé enjoyed talking with Linda as New Orleans is where he was born and raised. Despite our talks, Linda does not hover! Which was so appreciated, when you're on a "romantic"vacation. We had our own privacy during our stay as each suite is separate and inaccessible from where Linda stays in her home. We came and went as we please and used the hot tub at night as late as we wanted. We had our own private entrance, which was incredibly nice. The privacy was appreciated as I didn't know what to expect when we first arrived, but I was prepared to be open minded. I think I will always choose a Bed and Breakfast over a lousy hotel in the future. The rooms were grand and clean. The bathroom was nice and the shower as well. Everything was clean. Its just an old house, but I loved the cottage vibes. It was home-y. The town is walkable and cute! A Mardi Gras parade came right through down the street, during our last day there, which was nice. The poolside porch and hot tub made me feel like I was at a resort. The beauty of the home is breathtaking! Romantic cottage vibes! Perfect for couples or even a small girls trip. I will definitely be back to Linda's next year when we visit again for Mardi Gras. Linda has made me never want to stay at a hotel again.

Amazing Tour and Museum Experience…read more Houmas Plantation House is an amazing place to visit. We started our day early and had breakfast first. There's a simple American/New Orleans-style breakfast buffet with eggs, sausage, and grits, available from 8-10 a.m. The plantation opens at 9 a.m., and the first house tour starts at 9:30 a.m. The house tour lasts about an hour. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. This was my second time taking the tour, and although the guides were different, they shared the same history in their own unique storytelling styles. Both were engaging and easy to follow. Don't forget to tip the tour guides--they do a great job. After the tour, we walked through the gardens in the morning. It's about a 45-minute stroll at a relaxed pace--walk, rest, and enjoy the scenery. Very peaceful. Later, we went to the Carriage House Restaurant, which has amazing food. The bar is also great--try the Houmas signature drinks, they're delicious. You can enjoy your drink inside or outside, then walk around more or relax. If one person wants to do everything--breakfast, museum and house tour, lunch at the Carriage House, and buy a few souvenirs--expect to spend around $150 or so. Overall, it was a great, peaceful experience, and I highly recommend it.

And every single stay has been unforgettable. There are so many places to stay in New Orleans, and The Chimes might not be the cheapest, but it is absolutely the BEST VALUE in the city. What you get here- the hospitality, the comfort, the neighborhood, the LAGNIAPPE are all worth far more than the price. The Chimes is in the Garden District: safe, walkable, clean, and just a short walk to the streetcar and Magazine Street. Parking is incredibly easy. Jill can even help you get Jazzy Passes to explore the city like a local. The rooms are cozy and full of New Orleans charm. Breakfast is now an optional add-on, and I highly recommend it -- eating in the main house, talking with Jill, and meeting other guests is priceless. It's the kind of experience that makes this unforgettable! And Jill.. What can I say ? She is simply one of the most extraordinary human beings I've ever met. Her knowledge of New Orleans is endless, her warmth is unmatched. Because of her, I've experienced the real New Orleans, the soulful version most visitors never see. I go to New Orleans now to see Jill. The Chimes is home. There is nothing else like it.

We had been out on the motorcycle all day, in the heat, and were looking forward to a chance to freshen up and shower before dinner, regardless of the place. We were about to be very delighted! We pulled up in front of the residence on a very quiet, tree-lined street. There was plenty of space (and shade, lovely, wonderful shade) to park on the street, but off-street parking is also available. What a lovely place! We were met at the front door by one of the proprietors, Maureen, and welcomed to her home. We instantly felt like family and as Maureen showed us to our room, she was excited to hear about our day and to offer suggestions on how to enjoy our stay. The room was absolutely perfect. We had a small sitting/breakfast area with coffee and tea available, some muffins and cakes, along with snacks, and a refrigerator containing water and soft drinks, along with two slices of quiche (which we very thoroughly enjoyed, heated in the microwave, the next morning). The chairs and table were comfortable and were perfect for relaxing and looking out the windows at the pretty little yard. The bedroom off the breakfast area contained a beautiful four-poster bed and a mattress that left me envious and eager to return. I truly do not remember sleeping this well in recent, or otherwise, memory. Mental note to self, get this mattress. The bedding was high end sateen and really made the night restful, relaxing, and just perfect. The bathroom has a powered jacuzzi tub! It totally sealed the deal for us. We are daily hot tube users at home, so this was a welcome addition to our stay. The bathroom was neatly decorated and was just perfect. After dinner, we made our way to the bed and I barely remember my head hitting the pillow. When I woke up, I just lounged around in the bed for an hour to relish in the comfortable, homey feel of the place. We did make use of the breakfast space, brewing some dark coffee and enjoying the quiche prepared for us by our hosts. It was delicious, as was the coffee, and was the perfect way to end our stay. We truly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Blue Willow to anyone, just not on the nights I'm planning to escape and come back!

Kelly, the owner, answered and was polite and prompt about getting back to me about an opening that evening. We heading out, and arrived around 4:15. The farm was easy to find, about 30 minutes from the Covington exit off of I-12. It was quickly evident that the farm was a working farm and that friendly dogs were present. However, although the farm was not super manicured and landscaped, it was laid out very well and clean. There was a kennel close to the house which housed alot of eager to let you know they were there puppies. Kelly quickly showed us around, and let us know to review the welcome packet, as it had important information. She showed us the dining room, with its games, coffee and beautiful table. We were next shown our room, the Ponderosa room, which had a microwave, and mini fridge on its screened in porch. The room was beautiful, exuded warmth and the decor was on theme. After reviewing the rules we explored. There is a saltwater pool (closed for the season), a hot tub (that we unfortunately didn't enjoy, no bathing suits) and a fire pit (which we later heavily enjoyed) all close to the house and the rooms. The farm has a gorgeous white pony, 2 burros (one was pregnant), a few goats, chicken, and 2 super fluffy bunnies. We followed the rules as we explored, ie if you open a gate close it. We were escorted by 2 super old and friendly farm dogs, and encountered multiple super sweet farm cats. The fields were a bit muddy, but it had obviously rained a few days before. We only explored one field with horses, but they were super sweet and the fields were well cared for. We went to the local Hog Heaven for BBQ (highly recommend, 15 minutes away, huge portions, delicious). After dinner we headed back and enjoyed the fire pit. We turned in early, because the bed was soooo comfortable. Unfortunately, the temperature dropped super quickly overnight, but it was on the forecast. Breakfast in the dining room the next morning was delicious, the french toast was perfect and the huervos rancheros was authentic. We decided to opt out of the trail ride the following morning because we hadn't packed for the rain (silly us). Kelly however offered coats and gloves, which was a kind gesture and really appreciated. We will definitely be back in the summer and better prepared. A few things to remember about this place, there is a kennel on site as Kelly is a dog breeder, so there is barking and some smell. However, Kelly provided ear plugs in the rooms for the barking and its outside, so the smell isn't terrible. Another thing to note is as this is a small business. check or cash is preferred, since credit card companies charge that nasty transaction fee to businesses, but Kelly will take credit cards if necessary. Additionally, Kelly teaches lessons, does camp, and trails rides, so she knows her horses. Just like any horse person I've encountered over the years, Kelly has a no nonsense attitude about her place. However, she manages to be clear about her farm and the rules while being warm and friendly. This is obviously what she is born to do and she is amazing at it. We will be visiting again, multiple times and with family!
