The guy that did the installation was very professional, Adam, I assumed he is the owner, was very easy going. I could have gone to U-Haul down the street from my home and save a little money, but I am glad I drove to Hitch King a hour away. To the fake review that was posted at the same exact hour that Adam responded to my review: When a customer ask for a breakdown of the price, shouldn't the business list out what product will be used and how much the product cost, how much other parts cost and how much labor cost? Insurance for employees and other things Adam listed out SHOULD BE INCLUDED in labor cost and are the business's responsibility - not the customers' responsibility. It's supper shady when Adam couldn't answer a simple common question "Could you please break down what the price include?" - so he had to go around the question and acted like how politicians act. Prices are reasonable, a bit higher than other places but goodness sakes it is worth it. I contacted them and they gave me a quote and I made the appointment. The place is small but the employees were very nice and courteous. It's just a nice small neighborhood shop that specializes in hitches. They definitely know their stuff and painted the hitch to match the rear of my car. Our family had been using a mounted bike rack on our car and we wanted to switch to something more sturdy. Also the main reason for installing a hitch is because our driver, my mom, was terrified of continuing to drive with the mounted bike rack. We drove around with the mounted bike rack roundtrip from Bronx to Queens without any issues. She said that when she would look out in her rear view mirror, she noticed all the cars were so far away. Normally they would be a few inches behind us. Perhaps they thought one of the bikes would fly? Anyhow I thought the cars were doing their job social distancing. Because of covid, we could not fly anywhere this summer so we decided to invest money to update our car with a more sturdy hitch. After searching online, I found hitchking and contacted Adam. He was very professional and prompt to reply. He said there was a hitch he could hold to install for us. We were quoted around $435 for a curt hitch to be installed on our 2016 honda pilot. This included the hitch and installation. When I looked on etrailer.com, I saw that it generally cost $200-$260 just for the hitch (at most maybe $300). If you have ever run a business, you'll know that there are a lot of costs and overhead. You are also paying for professional service. Adam's team also helped us put together a bike rack and showed my family how to put it on and take it off within an hour. He did not charge to set up the bike rack. Being a single mom, I really appreciate this! After I had made an appointment with Adam, I found out that uhaul also installs hitches. I would recommend getting quotes if you have the time. If you don't and need professional service to attach a hitch, then I recommend hitchking. Today I had a Curt 1.25" hitch for a bike rack installed on my Prius Prime. It was a great, smooth experience and I was in and out in an hour. I was nervous because of the big ol' battery in the trunk, but Adam assured me they've dealt with a lot of Prius' before and they handled it without a...wait for it...hitch!
