    Tiramisu latte
    Jeremy D.

Checked this little cafe out as a quick walk from our hotel before we headed out of town for a coffee and a couple pastries. I love the little hole in the wall vibe and the modern look they've done with the space. The staff members were a little on the quiet side and a little tough to hear (and may not have fully understood me?) but were very kind and polite. The pastry selection, while maybe a little on the small side, is absolutely otherworldly in appearance. If I could have taken home one of everything, I absolutely might have. I ended up getting the creme brulee tart, pistachio croissant roll, and the tiramisu latte. Unfortunately, I didn't realize until I opened the box later that I got the one cocoa dusted matcha tart instead of the pistachio roll. Oh well, I'm not going to complain too much since, as I said, I was happy with literally anything I got. The creme brulee tart - 10/10 would recommend. Crunchy, flaky tart with creamy creme brulee hit all the right notes of layers of flavor and texture. Mmm, delicious. The matcha tart was decent though I may have been slightly bummed from not getting what I had been expecting. Regardless, another delicious treat, though definitely more on mellower side flavor-wise than the creme brulee. Still good but not quite what I was hoping for. The same went for the tiramisu latte. While I absolutely loved the presentation with the lady fingers on top, it did make it a little difficult to actually get in there and use them with the cup being so full before they got soggy and eventually disintegrated into the drink. The drink itself was OK but again pretty mild on both flavor and sweetness (and I definitely like things a little on the sweeter side). I feel like maybe a sweetened mascarpone whipped topping or something to really cap it off would have finished the look and maybe rounded out the drink a bit. Oh well, maybe next time. All in all, maybe not my go-to coffee shop in town, but definitely a great little place to stop in for a treat or two!

I stumbled upon Hitotoki Bakery, a Japanese bakery that recently expanded from downtown, and was immediately drawn in by its understated, minimalist exterior. The space carries a calm, cozy vibe--think warm wood accents paired with soft lighting--quietly inviting you to step inside. The shop itself isn't very large, but it's thoughtfully laid out and impeccably clean, staffs are very friendly. Each pastry and loaf is beautifully displayed, reflecting the delicate attention to detail you'd expect from a Japanese-style bakery. Although the selection was a bit limited later in the day, I managed to try their strawberry puff pastry tart and brown sugar walnut bread. The tart had crisp, flaky layers with a light, buttery texture, balanced by a fresh strawberry topping that wasn't overly sweet. The brown sugar walnut bread was equally enjoyable--soft with a gentle caramel-like aroma, and studded with walnuts that added a satisfying bite. Overall, the flavors were subtle, well-balanced, and not too heavy on sweetness. Parking right in front can be a bit tricky, with limited spots available, and being located along Highway 7 means traffic can get quite busy. Still, between the serene atmosphere and the quality of the baked goods, it's definitely a spot worth checking out. Markham location: 4441 Hwy 7 Unit 1 & 2, Unionville, ON L3R 1M1

What a gem! This bakery is tucked into the southeast corner of Yonge & College, and walking inside feels like stepping straight into Japan. The pastries and mochi breads are absolutely exquisite! I tried the black sesame mochi bread--light, pillowy, and filled with a delightful little white mochi surprise. The crème brûlée almond tart was incredible too, with its thick, eggy custard and a blueberry-almond center. And the Hitotoki matcha tart? Gorgeous and just perfect. It was my first visit, and I discovered the bakery through their 2nd-anniversary IG post. I bought about $20 worth of treats and got to spin their prize wheel--and I actually won the Grand Prize: a limited-edition gold Nespresso & milk frother kit! I literally jumped for joy. Yet another reason to love this incredible bakery!

Their tarts are so good! Crispy, light, buttery and not too sweet. My favourite is their creme brûlée tart its like having 2 desserts in one. Their drinks are also super nasty especially their matcha strawberry latte. Staff were super nice and quick. Their taro mochi shokupan is also sooo good! Soft, chewy and fluffy with just amount of taro.

Visited Hitotoki Bakery to try out their fall menu items. We got the tiramisu tart which had a flaky, crunchy pastry which i really liked. The pistachio croissant was also great, topped with pistachio crumbles and filled with a creamy pistachio center that wasn't too sweet. I also tried the black sesame latte. The flavor was nice but most of the black sesame seemed to settle at the bottom in a thick paste that was hard to mix, so we ended up scooping it out to eat with a spoon. Most of the black sesame taste came from that paste, so it wasn't the easiest to drink. There's minimal seating inside, and when we went there was only one worker, so there was a bit of a wait to order. Not a big deal, but something to keep in mind. We also got the sweet potato shokupan to go, there was not as much filling as I would've liked, but the bread itself was soft, fluffy, and really delicious. I'd definitely come back to try more of their pastries and drinks when I'm in the area.

This is a nice little cafe in the heart of downtown at college and Yonge. Even though the place is small, there are comfortable seats and two tables and counter with two chairs. The cup for latte is nice. You can close the lid to avoid splitting. Houjicha latte is so good. There are many cute tarts with fruits and flavoured loaf of bread. Creative menu.

Love the pastries from here! Such different options available as well as many drink options. It is a smaller little cafe with some seating only. Would recommend checking them out if you are in the area!

I tried their Mont Blanc cream pastry which was so good and not that sweet. Their lattes also impressed me, I got the matcha latte and the quality of the matcha was decent with subtle sweetness. The space is small with a few seats.

This Japanese Bakery located in Downtown Toronto and steps away from College station serves amazing handcrafted pastries, drinks and bread. It is a small shop meant for grab and go but there's two small tables if you want to enjoy freshly baked treats and drinks at the store. Their friendly staff will welcome you and would even give you recommendations on what to order from the menu. Parking spot is difficult to find and the transit is your best option if you want to visit. Since the bakery is focused on takeout orders, there's no public washroom at the store.

Stumbled upon this walking on college street. Small cozy bakery with minimal seating. Staff was nice and welcoming. Opted for one of each of the baked goods. Triple pistachio croissant roll Crème brûlée almond tart Strawberry crème tart Mango tart Mango pudding tart Matcha Mont Blanc Overall all were great and you can definitely taste that these are quality made. Buttery and flaky and each one distinctly different from the other. Favourite for me has to be the crème brûlée almond tart.

Brown Sugar Latte & Matcha Lava Pastry

I had the Matcha Lava Pastry, which was very good with a perfectly layered and flaky pastry. The matcha flavour was balanced and not over powering. I also got the Brown Sugar Latte which was, excuse me, not good. I'm an avid coffee lover but I wouldn't get that. Service was prompt and usual. The interior was nice, but limited seating.

Very nice and friendly staff! I got a mango one, matcha mont blanc and an egg tart. The best of the three was definitely the mont blanc. Rich matcha flavours!! All of the three pastries were very crispy and flakey. Will be back to try more!!

    Mont Blanc and Hojicha Latte
    David Y.

Subtle yet tasty, Hitotoki offers good Japanese treats. Stopped by and got the Mont Blanc. The pastry was crunchy flaky, the cream was smooth, and there was a good chestnut taste. Also tried their hojicha latte and it had a strong hojicha taste which I liked. Prices are what they are these days. Service was friendly and quick. Mainly a takeout spot but there's a bar and small table that can accommodate 4 people. Overall worth a try.

My wife wanted to go there so we went on 2023-01-31 mid-morning when there would more selection…read more They definitely have quite a selection of pastries and savoury food. My wife always judges a French Cafe by their Butter Croissant ($3.00) and she liked it! She also noticed all the  staff speak French sp it gives it even more legitimacy.  She also ordered a Flat White ($4.50) which was also good. I ordered a Plum Almond Tart ($7.25) because it was the prettiest. It was super delicious so it was definitely a good choice! Service was courteous and friendly. You place your order at the counter and bring it to your table. Someone will come around to clear the dishes when you are done It is a great place to have a nice casual time eating and socializing. They make all their food in-house in the basement. There are products for sale such as coffee beans, fruit syrup, maple syrup, smoked sauces, olive oil, scented soap, wine glassware, etc. I will definitely come back again to try other items. There is free WiFi. The neo-bisto is not wheelchair accessible since there are stairs leading up to the entrance. There are two gender-neutral washrooms. There is free street parking on their one-way south-bound street. Review 2023-017

Amazing place! I…read morecalled ahead to find out if they had this plum tart I purchased the first time I was there. Yet no one answered the phone. No problem. Hopped on my bike and a half hour later I was there. The friendly staff helped me by answering my question regarding eggs and which items did not have any in the recipes. This place was also super poppin' when I got there. It was earlish in the day around 10:30am and it seemed all the tables were pretty much taken. They are adding a dinner menu which is very exciting. Their pastries are phenomenal!!! Picked up a plum and pistachio tart, a chocolate mousse cake and an apple Danish for my mom. Plus a chocolate caramelized croissant. So much butter, and yet so good. Brought my container, which they happily used. The last time I visited this spot back in 2022, I vowed I would come back and take up space in that beautiful bay window seat. Yet I haven't followed through with that yet. One day. They also changed the name, since I was there last it was called Le Conciliabule Lab. Le Conciliabule means, "speak easy", as their website says. It was used back in the day to describe a place where people would come together and talk about everything and nothing. I can definitely say that happens here. What a beautiful concept, "everything and nothing". Now named Bisou, which means kiss. That's actually really simple and sweet. Since every pastry and any food item or beverage enjoyed here is a kiss for your tastebuds. Love it. Keep going team. You are amazing!
