Such a cute little boutique. These small businesses are the one that always packs a major punch. An amazing gift store with literally everything. I walked in after seeing it from across the street. Also they have a really cute storefront. It's a mixture of pretty much everything. There's hints of country, South America vibes, bohemian and such. Jewelry, apparel, food, bottles goods to name a few of the items they carry. Everything was well placed so wandering was easy to maneuver. Some places it's a little stressful walking by thinking you'll knock something over. The gentleman working was quite sweet and friendly. I was very disappointed in the customer service and attitude today. I had purchased an expensive reed diffuser just yesterday and within 24 hours felt very sick and nauseated. When I returned to the store within that same 24 hour period and asked for a refund I was made to feel small, guilty and belittled for taking advantage of a "small business". I asked how could one anticipate an allergic reaction towards a fragrance if you couldn't experience it firsthand? Her response was "just gift it to a friend". I did get my refund, but not after being thoroughly chastised, so much for customer satisfaction. read more

The rudest manager (male) ever. When I asked (via phone call) to return the item ($300 Free People sweater), her rudely stated, "The sweater is in a perfect condition!" The tone of his voice was rude and combative. The item was heavily flawed but since I did not want to deal with the rudeness of this company, I took the sweater to the nearest Free People store. They saw and acknowledged the flaws, and were able to exchange the sweater for me. The attitude and a lack of professionalism of this store is just not worth dealing with them again. PS: Tracy S. - the "owner" keeps reporting my review and altering her responses to my review. Very unprofessional and immature way to deal with an accurate review. At first, she was rude, accusatory, and abrasive in her response. Since, she deleted her original rude response and replaced it with another one. Purchased my first pair of Blundstone boots. Had the best customer service - was not rushed and truly felt heard. She explained the feeling that I should have in my boot and had me try on multiple pairs until I found the perfect ones. Just bought my first pair of Blundstone boots, along with some LeBon socks, for a trip to Europe. All the staff was exceptionally helpful each time I came in, and it took me three visits to make the decision. My best friend and I took a stroll down old town arroyo grande and found this cute shop. It has its own vibe and energy. We both bought lotions in different scents. I chose the dream scent, which has roses in it. The employee that helped us let us try a few of the different scents. Later in the day I kept smelling the nectar scent and so I had to go back to get it. I also grabbed a bottle of the calm the f*ck down theramist which the employee recommended. I, my sister-in-law, two nephews (6 & 4), and friend wandered into this store during our Saturday afternoon shopping day. As I was shopping in the store, with a handful of merchandise, I heard a woman telling, "Get out. This is my store." I looked over and saw a woman telling my nephews and friend to leave the store. Apparently, the store owner did not like the fact that my friend was eating kettle corn in the store, and handing some off to my nephews. My nephews were so so hurt. They kept saying, "Why did she kick us out?" I live in San Francisco. I've shopped in the best establishments. I have NEVER experienced that kind of treatment...and with children!!!! They simply could jot understand. We spent the afternoon explaining to them that "the lady" must be very unhappy and very strict, and that she doesn't understand how to be kind to people. I am sure the boys will never for get that experience. I assure you all, it was as simple a transgression as eating popcorn in the store. I'll even give "the lady" the benefit of the doubt by saying the boys were "running around the store." They were not. It was absolutely the WORST treatment I have ever witnessed. There is NOTHING in that store that precious or valuable that warrants traumatizing two young boys. I am hoping that the fact that we are Mexican American had nothing to do with it. I'm a houseplant collector so I've had this store on my to-go list for quite some time and finally had the chance to visit. While the store is quite charming and seems to carry unique products I was only spoken to by the person in charge AFTER purchasing. Mind you, I was in the store for quite some time and saw other customers being greeted. I guess I didn't look like someone who was gonna buy anything (?) Stumbled upon this place on my way from the bakery next door. Supppeeerr cute store with a wide variety of items! I instantly was drawn to the variety of shoes, jewelry and bags they have. The actual main Hive store seems very nice, it's stocked with nice things and owner seems very pleasant on our rare visit there, but on a recent visit to the Central Coast my husband Tom and I went to the Hive Annex so that he could get a T Shirt. He found an attractive T Shirt, but we were shocked and horrified at how nasty, rude, and totally inappropriate the owner or the manager of the Hive Annex was. She was insulting and rude, and extremely unpleasant , we were both horrified. We would strongly suggest that ( a) she should be fired immediately, and that ( b) that everyone avoids the Hive annex, as that awful, vile manager obviously never heard that customers should be treated politely, and that they're always right, not the bitch who's the manager, stores need customers, and by being rude and unpleasant that's a great way permanently loose customers, Tom and I will never go back to the Hive Annex, if he wants a T shirt he'll get elsewhere. read more

Love all the boutique shops in downtown AG. Went into the hive and wanted to make a gift basket of local products. It was busy yet there were 3 people behind the counter. The owner ( I see from the website) was complaining to a friend how busy it has been ( poor you). And ignored the long line. I grabbed some items stood in line and asked about a cocktail mix while paying to add to my purchase and was told I would need to wait in line again. Oh get over yourself! I went next door to darling Briscos and a wonderful women showed me some great products and gift wrapped them for me. My advice skip the pretentious Hive and go next door to Briscos. read more
