I attended one of my homie's 60th birthday, as his beautiful wife -Michelle S. had texted me with an invite to - HMC Karaoke Pearlridge. What a neat place to hold a birthday gathering! The karaoke room was pretty spacious, and I"m glad for that, as the amount of guess that attended this party easily had over 20 folks. The food here was awesome, but I'm not sure if the food was catered from someplace else? Or if you have to buy the food from this business? I was telling my homie -"wasn't this place a restaurant/bar before?" I swear it was, as I remembered coming here to go drinking with my homies. But of course, in my younger drunken dayz, things were kind of a blur. Lol! Time certainly passes quickly, and all I can say about that is - 1. Make the most of your time while you're still breathing on this earth. 2. Spend time with the folks that matter. 3. Heineken is still da BESTEST beer, although I haven't had a drink since 2016 due to my past illness. 4. There were alot of great singers at this party. Came here last night for my niece's 9th birthday. Yes, a 9 year old wanted a karaoke party lol. I haven't been to HMC in over 6 years & the place still looks the same. I've only been in the big rooms & I like how spacious it is. The leather couches are very comfortable, a toddler was sleeping on it. It is old school so you write down your selected songs on a piece of paper (I think can fit 5 songs) then give it to the person at the counter. Many songs to choose from! The only downfall I have is the bathrooms. The women's bathroom only has one stall, so one toilet. My husband said the men's bathroom has one stall also, one toilet & one urinal. read more

Last night was our company Christmas party only 12 of us . The room we had can actually accommodate 25 people . So we had a lots of room to walk around play some Christmas games and of course sing Karaoke. This HMC Karaoke been here over 30years already before it used to be Beacon restaurant if you old folks remember like me ha ha . The set up is old school you write down the song number than you give it to the counter person then he'll punch your song in . Then your song will appear on the tv screen than you can sing your heart out . This establishment provides coolers and ice for you . Folding tables for your food and lots of leather couch and chairs for your guests . The biggest room can accommodate 50 people's than there's rooms for 25 and 12 I believe their smallest room is for 4 people . If you're looking for a venue for any parties , get together this is another place to consider. I highly recommend booking far in advance especially if you're looking for a particular room size to accommodate your party . Locally owned and support local . Reserved the big room Paid a $325.00 deposit. End up canceling due to unforeseen reasons 1 weeks prior to the date of event. Ample enough time for them to rent the room out. They kept the $325.00. I understand a deposit is in place to avoid last minute cancellations, but I guarantee they booked that room immediately after I canceled. So I've been here twice and love it. Yes, it looks dingy from the outside. Yes, it is very old school where it appears they still use CD's and laser discs to load the songs. You have to actually look up songs in a binder and take it out to the guy at the counter on a piece of paper in order for him to load the songs for you. It may seem cumbersome but I didn't mind it at all. It is sort of nostalgic to go to this place... I remember going to karaoke when I was a lot younger and it brings back so many memories. The videos played on the screen is hilarious... they're from the 80's and 90's and some love songs played looked like it was trying to be old school porn. But it's funny! If you come here with an attitude thinking it's behind in it's times, you won't enjoy it. The room was spacious enough for us to enjoy singing, dancing, eating and drinking! What more could you ask for? I thought the price was reasonable, too. Mics worked great, sound system was fine, air conditioner was on full blast and we had no issues with having the songs keep flowing. If you want to end a song for whatever reason, you just holler at the guy at the counter. There's a huge selection of songs. The best part about this place? BYOB! Bring your food, too! No restrictions, just bring it all and they supply you with a cooler full of ice. They also have a big table available depending on what type of room for your food and goodies. Booked a work gathering here for a Saturday night and it was a hit! So great for team building! Our room (no. 8) was clean with comfy chairs and couches, able to accommodate up to 25 but I'd say it fits 20 comfortably. We booked for 6:30-9:30pm and were having so much fun we extended another hour - you can do that if there's no other group booked after you. We were allowed to come in and set up at 6pm. Total for the four hours ended up at about $550 before tip. Things to know: - You will be asked when booking whether you're 40 or older. This family owned business has been around for decades and they've learned what works best for them. You can have guests of any age but whoever books should be 40 years+. - 50% deposit required to book. They have different rooms for small and large parties - You bring your own food and drinks, including alcohol, and they provide coolers and ice. They do sell some drinks like water and sodas but not in great quantities. - Select as many songs as you want - no charge per song. There are binders of songs arranged by artist and title (mostly older songs), one for Hawaiian and International, and one for songs from 2020 and up so don't miss that one! - They have slips of paper and pens on the coffee tables (forms are color coded to each room). You write down the song code (if there's more than 1 option, choose the second or third, we found the first ones to be funky) and part of the song title, then bring the paper to the front counter. - Ample parking in the front and back. read more

For small party of 2. The owner HAD and is STILL the worst at customer service. Wanted to rent out a room at around 6:30pm on Saturday inquiring for an hour, possibly to go for the 2hrs. Right off the bat he said "morning charge is $25, after 5pm is $35, but I have to charge you two $70 PER HOUR. I have a room but I want to save it for other parties, you guys come back on a different day". Without no explanation he just decided to over price the room and then told us to come back on a different day. We were never rude at all during this process and left a little confused. We decided to take our businesses to Krazy Karaoke where they changed us $35 per hour. The staff there were very kind, did not question us at all about the size of our party. So we decided to spend the 2 hours there. We will not ever be going back to HMC. I have had hosted a hand full of large parties there and the owner sometimes can be a little rude. When I asked if they had a website he said no I should come down to see what I was getting myself into but he gotta see my card (vaccination card) and id before I can reserve anything and everyone has to be vaccinated. I mentioned that the mandate requires vaccination or proof of a negative Covid test. He cut me off and said yeah within 2 days of the event but he needs to see my card. No thank you! My spouses friends decided to host a little birthday party for her and chose HMC. I, honestly, had no idea what to expect. I'm from the mainland and we don't do karaoke (like at all). So when I found out we were going here - I was a little skeptical. Man, was I blown away! It was so much fun. This place is conveniently located off of Kamehameha Hwy near Pearlridge. They have sufficient parking for us, plus additional street parking. They encourage you to BYOB and BYOF. The room we had fit us comfortably. The entire is establishment is still very outdated, however, I believe that it actually made it cooler. I'm no karaoke connoisseur but their equipment looked like it was from the 90s with traditional looking karaoke machines. The walls were painted vibrantly and the chairs were old and random. Even the karaoke software appeared as if it was from the 90s. They had binders of music lists from Artists to Songs you have to write down the info and hand it to the attendant. Their workers frequently stopped by to make sure we didn't have any garbage that needed disposal. ALL that to say that I believe it actually added to its appeal. In no way did the older equipment affect the quality of our entertainment. We were all singing, laughing, and drinking. I'd probably go karaoke-ing very soon again. read more

The staff here was very helpful from the day we called to reserve the room to the day of our event. The day of our event there was another large party going on but the staff kept up with our song selection, helping when we needed ice and any other question we had. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is because when booking the reservation we were told that you had to be 40 years old...im over 40 so booking was fine for me but I can see that being an inconvenience for those responsible 20 and 30 year Olds. Bringing some family and friends together for singing and dancing is a great way to kick a farewell celebration up a notch. That's exactly what we did! We have not sang our hearts out in days or months. Grateful for free parking in front or behind HMC Karaoke. Another alternative is Firestone parking lot next to HMC Karaoke. Room 8 is a huge room where you can fit a big grad party. We're given Room 9 which can comfortably fit 25+ peeps. My CIL coordinated with HMC Staff in securing 3 coolers for BYOB, 2 jugs to temporarily hold ice cubes, 3 chafing dishes with 3 sternos to keep entrees warm for free. You're more than welcome to BYOF, BYOD, paper goods, and cutlery. We're trying to find the remote on how to digitally add songs after looking for it in various colored binders. No remotes to be found. Discovered mini pink song request forms with pens, figured out we have to write title of songs on request form, step outside of room and place it in clear Songs Request holder at front desk, then return to the room. Although, we found this method old school and time consuming, pros were we didn't run into any problems or mix-ups with songs requested. In some aspects, better to have HMC Staff work out technicalities of playing songs rather than having our greasy hands from eating finger foods all over buttons or digital keys. Restroom located across from Room 8 and Room 9. One entrance and exit was made for small built or petite. Kind of felt some claustrophobia just getting in and out one door. One sink and two stalls. Restroom is tiny. I'm not kidding! Overall, we had ample space to set-up food and munchies on left and drinks on the right. We couldn't hear huge grad party next door in Room 8. Room 9 worked for us. $75 per hour. Able to rent the room for a few hours. Gather a large group, then everyone can pitch in for costs and sing away. read more

We celebrated my daughter's 16th bday here & had a blast!! I was a little worried to have a bunch of teenagers that may not sing so HMC recommended having it late afternoon instead of night to take advantage of the cheaper rate. A room for 15 ppl was $35/hr. Reserved 4 hours so that we had a good hour to eat and let the kids warm up to singing. Boy was I surprised. We opened the food submitted a few songs hoping they would sing along and they took over. Non stop singing. The songs came in consistently. We never had to wait. Definitely got our monies worth. The staff was very accommodating. They provided 2 warmers, a cooler, juice cooler and ice!! All were set up as soon as we arrived. We were allowed to bring our own food, drinks (alcohol was welcome but we chose to keep it PG) and cake. Our first time at HMC Karaoke and it was so fun!! The reason for 4 stars is because we have to keep delivering our song request papers but honestly it's not too bad haha, and the songs were kinda hard to find. (We like oldies so a lot of the songs we had in mind were missing-- or maybe we didn't look hard enough hahaha. Some binders were assorted by title and some were by artists so it was a hunt for good songs for sure.) Our room was spacious and could fit a good amount of people, there was just 4 of us so we had a lot of fun in the room. We meant to stay for an hour but ended up staying from 7:45pm-closing (10pm). We had a good time because the vibes in the room were great! The lights and the mic stands really gave us our "main character" moment. It was $25/hour so not bad when you split it. Cheesy videos, large selections, multiple mics, disco lighting, etc. The biggest benefit of this place is the ample seating. It's like a huge room, I can say you can stuff 30 people in there, we had two tables one for sitting and one for catering platters. So This place is great for parties and large groups. We hosted our engagement party at HMC Karaoke and overall, it went good after a few snafus. We reserved Room #9 after some back and forth with the older gentleman over the phone who was insistent on reminding us that we had to be sure of our date, because if we cancelled, we would forfeit our deposit. He recommended we come down and see the room for ourselves before reserving. After checking it out in person, we decided it was big enough for our party of around 25. We booked it and put down the deposit, which was half of the total cost of the room. We picked this place because the price includes the food warmers and the ice chests with ice. We made our party during the day because the rates were less, and also, it was Thanksgiving weekend, so we knew people would be busy. They told us that our set up time was 12:30. The Karaoke lounge opens at 12, so the day of the party, we arrived at 12, hoping to set up early. Not the case. The older gentleman (same one who kept reminding us that if we canceled we wouldn't get our money back) told us that they are firm on the 12:30 set up time because "they have to pay the electricity bill." When we said we would just wait in our car, he offered to let us in early for an extra $20. I was offended, especially because no one else was around or in sight. He wouldn't even let us just throw our stuff in the room leaving the lights off. I wasn't TOO surprised because after looking around, the entire establishment, even though it was open, was dark. They must be really tight! When the worker said he'd hate to see us sit in the car, I told him, then please let us at least put a few things in the room, then we can turn on the lights at 12:30. The worker told me, "That's not my style. I don't sway, I see things in black and white because I'm a businessman." Hmmph! That hurt my feelings, but I couldn't hold onto it for long since we technically were early. We waited outside until our firm start up time, which was 12:30 on the dot. From there, the worker's tune changed and he suddenly became friendly and helpful, getting us food warmers and filling up our ice in the coolers. Once we set up, our guests arrived and everything went well. I quickly (sort of) forgot about the worker who so curtly beared down on us with the rules and tried to remember him hustling to get our room set up nicely instead. Our guests enjoyed the food and drink we brought and the sound system in there is really good. The only drawback is that you have to turn your songs into the front desk to be programmed in. The sound system is amazing, but because they program each song individually for you, there's sometimes and awkward pause between songs. Also, they shuffle the songs for you, so you never know when your song is going to come on. I sort of liked that, meaning it's not the same person singing for hours at a time, but guests that have to leave felt obligated to stay longer to wait around for their song to come on. Overall, a great party. Not sure if I'd book again. If you're looking for a decently sized room for a party, book here, but don't expect the service to go above and beyond by any means. read more

It was my first time at this place. This is like a hole in the wall karaoke spot. Parking was easy as it wasn't as busy and we went late afternoon on a weekend. The place was easy to find, as GPS took me right to it. When I first walked in, the guy greeted me then pointed me to the room. I guess he knew the room I was going to since my party just started arriving at the same time. I got into he room and it was a cute small room with like 4 black leather couches, a king table against the wall, and a disco light. There was AC so the temperature was very cooling. The sound system was great! Mics we're all connect by a line. To put in songs, you have to fill out a song request sheet with the number, sing, and who's requesting. Then there's a spot outside your door that you would put it at. There were a bunch of binders with the songs they had. Some were sorted by artist, song title, and genre. It was easy to use because everything was just sorted. They would play songs one after another, so we didn't have to wait long. It's super old school I think because when you walk out, you would see that they use disc like tapes and they insert it into the players. Bathrooms were clean and all stocked up. The doors though to the bathroom were narrow which through us off because it was like we were entering a closet. This place was great though and it makes for a great place to throw a party. BYOB and BYOF. Just make sure you clean up afterwards. All in all price was reasonable and the place was great! read more

2nd karaoke get together of the night: PoGo Team Rocket So much fun! After wrapping up our first karaoke sesh at the other place... we decided to do Hana hou with another group of friends and it was a blast! Not sure of the prices as we just crashed in and invited ourselves to join fellow PoGo players for the rest of the evening lol. The room was bigger, probably pricier. They have tables for your food. The mics have a cord so be careful especially if you're tipsy and moving around. No feedback on these mics, and everyone sounds like a rockstar in these rooms! The binders (song lists) are very well kept but a little confusing. Pink binders, black binders and a blue binder. One color was for alphabetical by song (2: a-l & m-z or something like that), the other was alphabetical for artist (2) a-l & m-z, and blue was newest and latest. Parking on the other hand is pretty tricky. Their lot goes around in the back but no room to turn around. So if someone isn't behind you and there's no parking in the back, everyone needs to reverse back out. When choosing songs, you write them down on a paper and walk them out to the front desk. It takes a while for the songs to go from one to the other like they're changing physical disks or something. And it's not eco friendly, wastes lots of paper... Women's bathroom only has one stall. Enough said. Although there were lots of thing I liked and didn't like, I think next time I'll chose to come here. Especially with bigger groups, these rooms seem to be more spacious. I don't go to karaoke places too much because I kinda prefer singing my heart out in the shower or in my car driving from A to B, aaaaaand probably because I sound like a cat in heat and a broken record put together and times that by 1,000. I make William Hung (She Bangs) from American Idol sound like Celine Dion..lol nah nah maybe not that bad. Anyways, I was here because we were celebrating my Auntys 60th surprise birthday party. Unfortunately, I have no clue how much it cost or what the specific rules are, but I can say that the room we had (Room#7) was pretty huge. It was like a living room with a dining room put together. There are several TV monitors so those in the back can sing and see the lyrics too. The songs appear to be up to date, but like real karaoke music, they sound exactly like karaoke music lol. What I mean is the instruments in each song is so generic like a typical karaoke song compared to what you hear nowadays on the radio and to top that off, there's one of those colorful moving strobe ball to give you that old school karaoke setup. You can BYOB (bring your own beverage) and bring your own food. There's A/C so you don't have to worry about smelling everyone elses body heat and/or sweat from all that singing. There are super small restrooms available right in the lobby area. They are located next to the Shell gas station across the street from the Pearlridge watercress field. I didn't deal with the staff enough to notice if they had amazing customer service or not, but I can say that they do their job. I'd see them walking around or posted in front. There are tables and chairs available in your room although they're a bit worn out and probably need to renovate soon or now. There's ample parking available. Overall, we got my Aunty to cry like a baby when everyone surprised her sooo mission accomplished and I didn't hear any complaints from anyone so I think if anyones looking for a decent karaoke place that has a lot room, this is a pretty solid location. read more

This place gets one star for nostalgia and another star because it's family- friendly. My family has been coming here to celebrate birthdays for the past several years so I'm biased. First, the cons of this place. The parking can be a challenge if you come on the weekend. This place has about 30 or so parking spots but it seems to fill up fast. Having said that, I've always found parking. Second, the parking lot can be difficult to get out of because it's less than 100 feet away from an intersection with Kamehameha Highway. Finally, this place has an old school karaoke system where you write down your songs on slips of paper and leave them with the front desk so they can crank up the Laserdisc. Since I'm old school, I don't mind this. I don't like having to remember to press "enter" on some jumbo remote after drinking too much. Now, the pros. This place has a decent mix of old and new songs. The rooms are cool and comfortable. The room we usually rent has a disco ball you can turn up if you're doing a Beegees medley. They provide coolers and ice. The bathroom is clean and not crowded. You can BYOB. The staff is friendly and professional. What more could you ask for? read more

A review is LONG overdue for this karaoke bar. My husband first saw me here in 2007 so I remembered this spot after writing our wedding vendor reviews :) I've only been to this place once but so glad to hear it's still up & running. I like the privacy it offers to groups and gatherings. The restroom is what you expect a karaoke bar restroom to be like. So many people sang their hearts out without disturbing anyone else, so that's a plus. Ample parking for groups. Back when I was there outside beverages were allowed, but not sure if that's changed since 2007. I am not a karaoke star. By all accounts, I cannot sing. I don't usually mind being the center of attention. However, if it involves singing I do. So, as a rule; I do not karaoke. I also don't drink much. I rarely have more than one beer within one 24-hour period, and I have many 24-hours periods without a beer. Therefore, I'm a little befuddled on how after reluctantly agreeing to meet friends at Hmc Karaoke Pearlridge last night, I woke up this morning with a smile on my face, a hangover headache, and a horse voice! I mean, seriously, who was the beer-swilling microphone-hogging karaoke star last night? Oh yeah, it was me! :-P I have no idea how much it cost, but we spent 3 hours in that comfortable little room screaming ...err, I mean... singing our hearts out. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The equipment worked as expected. And in spite of myself, I had a blast! That's why Hmc Karaoke Pearlridge gets high marks from me. Everybody sing along! It was a great experience, they had a cooler with ice for our drinks that we didn't use but was a nice touch. The room was large and the mics all worked and the screen was large and easy to read. The room was clean, lots of place to sit with a stack of chairs to use if you would like. The staff even let us stay an extra 15-20 minutes to clean up and allow the children time to eat their cupcakes. We love this place. They are so nice and the service was outstanding. There were songs for everyone, in every genre. We brought in our dinner and drinks. The bathrooms are one stall, but they were clean and sufficient. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. There are tables and a cooler for you to use. We had enough room to move around. HMC delivered and catered to our needs, while we were there! Loved the room, selection of songs, and customer service was the best! We had a party that I was sparing no expense, but for what I received for my room.. It was, Tops! I had 5 warmers, with Sternos for my food, and ice packed into 3 large coolers, with extra ice in 2 other coolers to refill. It couldn't had been better than to arrive and set up, and not worry about those 3 things, I even loved the room space, cleanliness, and versatility and option to move tables around, or out of the room. Don, and Jon we're amazing, and so gracious, that I will be back to utilize one of their room again for another event. Thank you, HMC staff for making our night, wonderful. Great place to have a small party. Place is nice and clean. The a/c makes it that much better. Only reason for the 4 stars is because you have to make a list of the songs you want and go out to the staff so they can punch it in for you. Other than that it's great. BYOB and food is a great add in so you don't spend a ridiculous amount of money on drinks like at a bar. :) read more
