I had genuinely been meaning to try out this place since I moved to Honolulu, and never found the right opportunity or group of people, but that changed this year. I actually had no idea that they had karaoke here-- I thought it was just a Korean restaurant, but the "Báng" here I am guessing corresponds to 방 in 노래방. We ordered the Seafood Pancake, Old-Fashioned KFC (Korean fried chicken), Mochiko Chicken, Jja Jang Ramen, and Cream Kimchi Udon for food. All were tasty and paired well with whatever drinks we ordered, which included flavored soju. Servers were quick to check in on us and bring our orders. The mechanic of karaoke here is that you pay for each song, which forces one to be more intentional with singing, but at the same time makes on less stressed about cramming in music within a set amount of time. The place is clean, spacious, and the AC is cold. There are a handful of karaoke rooms to choose from with a great selection of modern music and old. Strangely I had issues finding Disney songs. Maybe it's a licensing thing or just that room? Plenty of alternative songs and classics. The fried chicken wings were delicious- I've tried a handful of them. Garlic is a little too garlic (girlfriend destroyer). Spicy is good. Spicy shoyu is good. Honey one was super good. Their oden soup was really good. And their tacos were actually not bad- a little odd with some flavors but they were overall good. Fried mandoo slaps. I haven't really been disappointed by the food yet. Hope that stays true. Service was good- the staff make rounds every so often and kept our water and drinks filled. The staff remember me and always greet me warmly. I always feel like I'm attended to. Cons: It can get busy. Service lags when it's busy. The bathrooms are small. The men's bathroom stall is for smaller people. We came here late night for some soju--maybe that's why the place felt the tiniest bit sticky/dirty? However, their menu of soju is wild; there's so much variety! We got: Dubai Chocolate: This just tasted like nestle hot cocoa--I would skip this. Ube: BOMB. DA BEST. Like wow if you mixed ube-taro ice cream with soju you would get this fantastic concoction. I still dream of this. Yogurt soju: A classic that's delicious. Brown sugar: This tasted a little bit like boba, but it can't compare to that ube. I have nothing but great things to say about this place. My daughter was here from college and my sister wanted to take her to eat Korean food and sing some karaoke. We decided to go to this place because they had a pretty stunner menu and my daughter and my sister like to drink soju. I called well in advance because I did have my baby and at that time she was 10 months old so I asked how was the volume level and they said it should be OK because we're going there pretty early but if it gets louder, they will turn the music down for us And I thought that was pretty cool of them Little that I know that when we got there they gave us a private room for free and we ordered a bunch of food and the songs were two dollars apiece, which was fine with me because we could control the volume and we could enjoy a small room as we had 6 of us there. We ordered a bunch of food and everything was delicious and we ordered a few different sojus and that was also delicious. I also got a few Korean beers which was super cold and I enjoyed that. Tbh I want a refund. I never write yelp reviews but we spent $45 on an extremely small plate of rose tteokbokki and pork belly. The tteokbokki was $19 and the pork belly was like $25. Usually Korean restaurants like this serve big portions for the price point. I should've taken a photo but it was literally a scam for the portion size. It looked like scraps. Don't ever eat here. My friends and i went last week for my friend's birthday! We had such a great time and the server James was very friendly! Prior to coming, we made reservations for a room and it was nice that they called to confirm the same day of the party! Our server James was nice and checked on us often. Food was good per usual! I had barely ate that night, but the food never disappoints regardless! I tried that whole chicken and let me tell you.... The perfect typa fried chicken you want, juicy interior and exterior was crisp to perfection! Definitely some superior chicken! The mandoo with the dipping sauce was yummy too! I definitely recommend it fried. You can't go to Soju bang without their soju as well! Lilikoi, Strawberry Yogurt (TOP FAVS), Melona, and Lychee are probably the best ones! Again, none of them disappoint, it's more of what you prefer. Like, my friend liked the Li Hing Lemon one, but for me it was too tart. Lastly, the only reason I would give this place a 4 as opposed to a 5, the room gets warm. As I have seen in a previous review, the room we were given had that same broken fan. Service has always been consistent. Their happy hour menu portion size is big and decently priced. For example, a whole chicken costs $14.00. The chicken was crunchy and marinated well. All the food we tried there was so delicious! We sincerely hope they won't change their kitchen vendor or staff. There's a private parking in the back. It's free before 7pm. I've been coming here since the beginning, and it pains me to say that I'll probably never come back. Service has slowly declined over the years, but this last visit was a deal-breaker for me. On a Thursday night, it appeared there were only the bartender and 1 server working in the front. 20 minutes after being seated, nobody came to take our order. Since we thought they were short staffed, we walked up to the bar and placed an order of food and soju. We closed out at the bar to make it easier for them, and they said they'd bring it to our table. 15 minutes later, our soju still hadn't arrived. We went back to the bar to ask for it, and they told us they'd bring it when it was ready. We then realized there was another server working this whole time, but she was sitting at one of the tables with her friends playing with a dog. She went to the bar and brought out a tray of shots to take her friends, and then went back to "work." The other server brought out shots and soju to the table next to us and sat to flirt with those girls. He drank so much that he couldn't walk straight, stumbling over a stool and spilling half of the shots on the way. He had tally marks on his arm of how many shots he had taken that night - it was at least 12 tallies by the time we left. 10 more minutes later, our soju still hadn't arrived. I went back to the bar to ask for it. Again, they asked what table we were at and said someone would bring it out. I insisted they just give me the bottle because we had waited so long. It was just a plain bottle, so all they had to do was take it out of the refrigerator and hand it to me. She then proceeded to punch the item in because they had no record of our initial order, even though we had already paid! They realized that the kitchen didn't receive our food order, so we had to wait even longer. We were not the only ones getting really bad service. All the customers at tables waited so long to get drink refills and started going to the bar to order. Later on, another girl came out of the bathroom and went to the POS behind the bar. I guess she was working too, but hard to tell because she was also hanging out with her friends. She didn't seem drunk, but she was out of it and confused, like she was on drugs or something. The only competent and sober employee was the bartender, who ended up doing all the work. The male server ended up crouched down on the floor for a while because he was so drunk. Another employee had to give him water and make sure he was okay. It was very confusing because I couldn't tell who was working and who wasn't. Maybe I'm just getting old, but a lot of these people didn't look old enough to be drinking. Soju bang used to be very strict about checking everyone's ID upon entry, but nobody checked any IDs that night. Overall, I'm very disappointed about what this establishment has become. At least I found it mildly entertaining to people-watch these drunk kids, so I'm not that upset about it, but I definitely will not be returning. 2 stars because food still smashed. read more

This spot was recommended to me by a local and I'm so glad I stopped by! The food was absolutely delicious and my personal favorite was the fishcake soup--it was so flavorful, comforting, and hit just the spot. A very close second was the kimchi fried rice paired with some soy fried chicken While the food was yummy, the highlights for our group was actually their massive soju menu. There are so many flavors to choose from! The honeydew and watermelon soju ended up being our favorites because they're served in the actual fruit! The service was also fantastic. Sunday March 30, 2025 first time, coming here at 7:45pm. There is a driveway after the Fabric Mart building and before the Soju Bang building on Kalakaua Avenue. It's a private parking lot that has a QR code to scan to pay for parking. The lot is dark!! So, we decided to park on the street by Don Don Donki where it's lighted. The entrance is a double glass door on the right side of the building. It's kind of dark in there. We sat at the bar. Happy Hour is 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Service is friendly and fast from Joan the bartender. We ordered the Steamed Mandoo $12.00, Honey Spicy Chicken $14.00 and Kim Chee Fried Rice $14.00. Food came out shortly after. Mandoo was good. Chicken was honey sweet and koochujang slightly spicy. Fried rice looked like koochujang rice and it was good. We will come back again. Always good to try new places. My friends and I have loving going to Soju Bang because we enjoy their karaoke, food, and drinks. They recently raised the price of their karaoke rooms from $1 to $2 per song, but it's still worth it for the fun we have. Just be sure to reserve a room in advance--especially on Fridays and weekends, as they're super popular! They have a great selection of songs, from English to Korean, so there's something for everyone. The rooms aren't completely soundproof, but honestly, no one outside seems to mind since the rest of the place is filled with tables where you can eat and drink all night long. My go-to drink is the melon soju--I absolutely love it! Soju Bang is one of the few places where I can enjoy melon soju cocktails served in a pitcher. The food is also delicious, with options like seafood pancake, edamame, fried rice, and both steamed and fried gyoza. The portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable. The staff are very helpful when it comes to explaining how to use the karaoke machine. Food: Very tasty but overpriced. My favorite thing on the menu is the Kimchi fried rice!!! A must order! Drinks: The drinks are decently priced and they have a nice selection of Soju (hence the name) and mixed soju drinks. I'm not exactly sure if this place is BYOB but I know friends that have brought in their own drinks. Music: There is a catalog of songs available and you can search but artist/song with the remote BUT it is not very updated. I definitely wish there was a larger song selection. Songs are $2 each and if it is your first time, it can be a little confusing to operate the karaoke machine. I like Soju bang because you do not have to pay for the room reservation as you might at other places but you do make up for it with the overpriced food and songs. I wanted to bring out my Boy Band days pipes and show how it's done to my Queens, but of course after Soju, Soju, Soju everything sounds & looks prime! :D Carpooled over we parked nearby (lots of options including free meter on Sundays) and walked the block over. I heard there's on-site parking on the side, but I also heard there's a small fee for it which to me makes no sense with all the free parking nearby. Queen Kyra made reservations for Happy Hour from 5pm to 8pm in a private room! She knows what's up! Upon entering we are quickly carded (since I still look 18 lol) and led to our private room! Hella K-Pop vibes as we walk in. Our room so clean and those Disco lights be like Travolta in polyester! Love glows here! We're handed the regular & HH menus, of course we order off the HH since so much choices! We start with the Lilikoi Soju in Korean plastic carafe lol and a bottle of Iced water. Seafood Pancakes was our first shared dish followed by Steamed Mandoo, Steamed Egg, Kimchee Fried Rice. Lots of savings and hella options! Our hostess and server were both polite and pros. Always checking on us, but never interfering with our private time. Just a red "help" button away if we needed anything in our room. Came with a few boys to grab a few soju drinks. We order their ube and melona cocktail soju which is $21 each. While waiting for our drinks, we decided to get some of their chicken wings too. PS: if you're ordering wing's you 100% need to get cheese with them. You'll thank me later. Soju was top tier. My favorite was the melona flavored one. May be bias as my favorite ice cream bar is the melona honey dew bar. But with that aside, it really is good. You can barely taste the alcohol but you for sure can feel it later. Ube was pretty good as well. With 5 guys the bottles went empty pretty fast. The wings were sooooo good. With the cheese melted on top it was A1! Thank you Kyra K. for recommending Soju Bang to fulfill our karaoke needs. Soju Bang is a karaoke bar with bar seating, a few tables, and private rooms. Kyra K. being the proactive lady she is, reserved us a private room so our party (Eric R., Kyra K., and I) could sing with ease. Upon entrance, we were greeted by staff who immediately checked our IDs before escorting us to our private room. Size of the room was small, but perfect for our party of 3. Seating was spacious since we each had a section of the U shaped seating all to ourselves lol! Our orders for food and drinks were promptly taken, and delivery was just as quick. Before you know it, we were chowing down on Korean bar food (Steamed Mandoo, Steamed Egg, Seafood Pancake, & Kimchee Fried Rice) over some tasty Cocktail Sojus! THE FOOD: 1. Steamed Mandoo - This can also be ordered fried. This was good. Nothing gourmet, but perfect as bar food. 2. Steamed Egg - Light protein dish with a mild flavor. Almost like an egg soufflé, but neither sweet or savory. 3. Seafood Pancake - This was deep fried. Good to snack on. Reminded me of street vendor food. 4. Kimchee Fried Rice - This was my favorite from our orders. Savory with a hint of sweetness and a touch of spice. Keep in mind I love spicy food. So my mild could be spicy for the next person. THE DRINKS: 1. Cocktail Soju Lilikoi - Heavy syrup based flavor. I thought it tasted better after the ice melted a bit since it was very sweet. 2. Cocktail Soju Ube - This reminded me of the Filipino dessert halo halo. You know that sweet, light, milky ube flavor when you've reached the bottom on your halo halo cup? That's what this tasted like, but with suju thrown into the mix :) This karaoke bar works a little different from the ones that I know of. Instead of paying by the hour for the room, you pay per song selected ($2). You'll need to make sure you have cash on hand since the karaoke machine only accepts dollar bills. PARKING is located behind the building, but there is also street parking that's close by. And the cost of our night out was very reasonable since we made it out here during HAPPY HOUR (Daily 1700-2000). PRO TIP: In the private rooms, there's a red button on the wall that you can press if you need to flag down a server. OVERALL THOUGHTS The food is decent bar food. So don't come here expecting gourmet. Although I found our drinks to be on the sweet side, there are many other available drinks/flavors on their menu I would consider trying next time instead. They certainly put "Happy" into happy hour! I certainly can't pass up an invite from Nadine C for karaoke night though after a stressful long week I came more to relax and to unwind along with great friends this was another chill night filled with food, fun, karaoke and soju with a side of Diet Coke. My first time here I loved the vibe here is nice with super spacious lounge area and a fun neon lit angel wings selfie, but we were here for karaoke and got a room which wasn't really huge but a great size for our party of five and with a portable a/c it did make it comfortable to unleash ourselves though the seating was so solid and coming straight from work I didn't want to take off my stinky shoes in this small room cause I do adore my friends lol! As my besties got her karaoke groove on at $2 a song it came in various languages I was more excited to see what they had to offer off their happy hour which isn't so bad as it's available "everyday" from 5pm to 8pm with bites for $8 we ordered Steamed Mandoo (which came with 12 pcs!), and for $12 Kimchee Pancake and Seafood Pancake...both I did stay away from not wanting to chance my shellfish allergies. Off the regular menu it was Corn Cheese $12, Spicy Chicken Gizzard $16, Fire Chicken w/Cheese $21, Spicy Shoyu Boneless Chicken $21 and Loaded Tater Tots $16. You can't go wrong with corn cheese that insane pull was yummy, Fire Chicken didn't do very much for me, Gizzard was yummy but the tater tots was seriously disappointing as it was just topped with velveeta and bacon bits. As I scanned the menu again they were talking about Lilikoi...hmmm then Brown Sugar Milk Tea which is what we got. I've driven past Soju Bang on Kalakaua Avenue many times and have always wanted to go there. PARKING: My friend and I drove around the block to look for "parking in the back" as the sign indicated. There's a driveway before the building that leads to a parking lot. Parking is free before 7pm. We set a timer - so that we didn't have to pay for parking! SERVICE: Friendly and welcoming! They knew that it was our first time there. As we were being seated in the lounge area, we stayed that we wanted to sing. We were then shown to a clean, cozy private room. FOOD: We were given a pitcher of iced water and some plastic glasses. We ordered from the Happy Hour menu (5pm to 8pm): Shrimp tempura, Steamed mandoo, Kimchi Pancake, and Apple Mango Soju. Everything was tasty and presented well! KARAOKE: This was our first time singing together. It worked out well because we knew the same songs! This place was cool, but I'm not sure if I particularly liked that they charged per song. UNTIL my friend did the math and I realized that it actually was cheaper than some places I know in San Jose, CA that charge way more for a room. Soju Bang was a weird concept, but it worked. They have huge books of songs, not much new songs, but still the essential hits. I was disappointed they didn't have instruments, and that the second mic went in and out often. 7:30 on a Monday night was perfect for my family and i to go to soju bang. First, the parking: a lot of space! Just turn right in between two buildings (before the soju bang sign) and you're there for free! There was a 'paid public parking sign in the back' but I would double check that if you're planning to eat here (we didn't pay, we just saw a sign). Before hand, i made a reservation just in case and the place had a lot of space. There are also karaoke rooms as well! We were informed about the karaoke rooms being occupied for free with no minimum charge but typically with the menu and with a group, you could spend about $100 for food and drinks, excluding the $2 per song that you request. They got multiple tvs playing music videos and the vibe is exciting especially with the soju bang light signage at the bar! Also! Happy hour is 5-8p! We stuck with the happy hour items and added Kalbi from the regular menu but their food is FIRE!!! Great to pair with cocktail sojus. My #1 favorite is their White peach, #2: Yogurt and #3: lychee. I've seen this place sooo many times in passing, but have never gotten a chance to hang out here until now. It was my friend's birthday, so we wanted to do something festive and decided to celebrate here. Making a reservation was super easy and the staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. We ran into some traffic issues while on our way to this place, so we were about 30 minutes late, but since we notified the restaurant about our issue, our table was still reserved for us! The person I spoke with on the phone was super understanding and that made our situation less stressful. As soon as we got situated at our table, we ordered our beverage and food. We were between 3 soju flavors, but decided to go with the apple mango flavor...strongly suggest this one. For the food, we ordered the seafood pancake, rose tteokbokki, cheese corn, and garlic boneless chicken. Our faves were the seafood pancake and cheese corn. I think next time we'll pass on the chicken and the tteokbokki--I personally prefer the traditional tteokbokki, but I've always wanted to try the rose version. I have been here before and I had a great experience with the group I was with, but the difference seem to be that the group that I was with new people that worked at the restaurant. This time around, I brought new people with me thinking that I'd have a similar experience which couldn't be further from the truth. I called ahead for a reservation but when we walked in no one greeted me for a while and when I finally did get a table, we didn't get served even water for at least 20 minutes. When the water and soju that we ordered came they forgot shot glasses. Since I couldn't get anyone's attention, I went to the bar to get them. When we wanted to close mainly for the poor service, I had to ask three different people and then ultimately just went to the bar to close out. I understand that it was a busy night and it was after 10:00 PM on a Friday, so it could've been a long night for them. I think that if we were served better we would've ordered more and stayed longer. I don't think that I will be coming back here. There are plenty of other bars/restaurants that give me consistent service whether or not I know someone. read more

Went to soju bang to hangout with some friends around 5pm on a Sunday, which was suprisingly empty, considering that we didn't to do karaoke, but just more toawrds the bar area. - SERVICE: staff was very quicky and was helpful in giving recommendations. - FOOD: offer korean food, which can be overpriced, but highly recommend their happy hours that they offer everyday from 5pm-8pm. However, I wouldn't consider it as a full meal place, but more of bar food that's quick and shareably while enjoy the vibes. - DRINKS: reasonably priced with various selection on soju -MUSIC: great for KPOP lovers! This is a really cool place. It's primarily a karaoke place but they also have ample seating for dinner. The service was great and the food was great. They have a large selection of Korean-inspired dishes. If you are in the Ala Moana/Don Quixote area come check this place out. read more

We came to Soju Bang for a holiday party. PSA: the front door is blacked out but it's open! I almost thought I was in the wrong place because I couldn't see through the door or hear anything. I was greeted immediately and taken to our room we booked ahead of time. Our party was about 15 relatively large people and fit fine in the room. You have to download their app to access the song book. And the machine is $2 per song. Overall a good song selection. I felt like one of the mics wasn't working so well but that's okay. The food is typical bar food. I enjoyed it. Had the boneless garlic fried chicken, Kim chi fried rice, and fries. Also tried the mandoo and my friends loved the soju cocktails. read more

Had a banging time at Soju Bang with my friends last night! It's the perfect place to unwind, sing karaoke, and have fun with a group of friends! It's easy to lose track of time here as we came around 10:00 p.m. and stayed until closing. Jay, the manager, was extremely friendly and accommodating. The karaoke room had a great sound system and offered a huge list of songs in multiple languages--each song is $2 and it's cash only. They also offer a variety of Korean food and drinks. For a Saturday night, it was popping. If you come on a weekend, I recommend calling in advance to book a karaoke room. They offer a few private rooms as well as tables. My group and I are already looking forward to coming back again for another round of karaoke! read more

This is a place I come to chill in the early evenings. I want to avoid the noise and chaos that arrives after dark. Some familiar faces from the days when Duck Butt was more welcoming - which is natural since the owner here was a former longtime Duck Butt manager. Same mix of k-pop and urban hip hop. Same ritual of buying rounds. Here's a place where they know my name and what I drink. The food and drink offerings are still being built up. They don't pump out a lot of grinds but what they have is good with simple shots or flavored soju mixes. Best place to hang out with friends and to celebrate something like birthdays! We went here for my friend's 21st birthday. All the staff were super nice and accommodating. We were sitting in the common area until we asked if there's any available karaoke rooms. We were put in one and if I remember correctly, it's $2 per song. Our server was very patient with us because we keep on asking how to operate the machine. Overall, it was a lot of fun. I think their food and drinks are priced well. We got a lot of tequila shots - dressed and chilled, tater tots (sooooo bomb, crispy and hot when they gave it!), and I tried my friend's kimchi fried rice which was also very flavorful. 10/10 would recommend and I can't wait to go back again. read more
