I stayed at the Ho-Chunk for a conference last month. I had never been and there was no signage outside for where exactly the conference meeting rooms were located in relation to the hotel entrance and casino entrance (note: it is much closer to the hotel entrance). The parking lot is gigantic and obscenely far from the hotel entrance. Check in for the hotel was easy and the lady was so friendly! My room was on the complete opposite of the hotel, so I had to move my car - thank goodness the back parking lot was less crowded and had easier access to the hotel. My room was surprisingly nice compared to the reviews I had read. It had a little kitchenette, complete with a sink, mini fridge, microwave, and coffee pot. The room itself was large and had a neat pull-out table to use as a work space and a large balcony with a patio set. The bathroom had plentiful counterspace, hair dryer, and complimentary sized-bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, body wash, bar soap, and several makeup towelette wipes. The bed was clean and comfortable. The pillows are quite soft and squishy; perhaps you can ask for firmer pillows, but if you like a firm pillow I would suggest bringing your own. I was unable to enjoy the pool area, but there is a pool, hot tub, sauna, and workout room. And then there is the casino side, which was very quite during the week. There is a small food court in the casino area. It is kind of confusing because you sit down and there is waitstaff - at least if you wish to order Mexican. The food was okay; the chips and salsa was nice; I ordered a combo plate and the burrito was fine, but I would not recommend the chile relleno. Overall, quite expensive - definitely paying for convivence rather than quality - and no margaritas :( They do not offer a continental breakfast, and there is only a small café onsite that serves a few breakfast items. The hotel is not crazy fancy, but overall clean and well maintained. Food options are limited. It was very nice for a conference and I would book a night here in the future. read more

The bad: The complimentary coffee packets tasted like sour dust as if the coffee had sat on a shelf for the last 10 years! The furniture looked worn and only one bed lamp worked. The patio door's inner privacy curtain was also torn. The good: The soap and body lotion both smelled great. The place looked clean and there was plenty of towels. read more

Check in good. We're not high rollers...maybe that's why we were assigned an old tired room. I had the heebie jeebies upon entering the room. Afraid I might see bed bugs next. We work for charities that accept furniture, and they would not accept the chairs in this room. Upholstered Furnishings need to be tossed in a dumpster. I refused to sit on them. Dells March 2025 Worst experience!! The thermostat in the room was not working & we couldn't turn the heat on. The phone in the room wasn't working. Couldn't call the front desk to report the thermostat. Walked down on way out to dinner and reported the thermostat and the phone issues to front desk. We came back to the room later and thermostat was still not working. I walked down to the front desk again and got extra blankets. They told me someone had been to the room & fixed it but it was not working!!! The shower was horrible. The water dribbled from the shower head and to top it off the refrigerator was making an annoying noise. Had to unplug it to get some sleep!!! And one more thing, the TV didn't work. Had an onscreen error. They've let this place get rundown over the past few years!! Don't waste your time going here!! It needs a major renovation! read more

I was very unhappy with our stay.  We almost didn't stay and couldn't wait to leave. The casino was dirty and smelled of old smoke.  The nicest restaurant looked like a food court cafeteria from the 80s.  There was a used bandaid, bloody side up, near the elevators after we checked in around 5pm on Friday.  It was still there when we left at 8am on Saturday.  The bed didn't even have a blanket on it, just sheets.  The staff was kinda nice but needed training. The nicest thing was the trees outside and the waterfall indoors.  This was our Anniversary trip and sadly the worst hotel or casino we've stayed at. read more

This hotel is quite expensive for what you are getting, but from what I could see, it looked like one of the nicer looking ones in the area. While the room looked okay, there were a few things that should have been taken care of: The door would not close on its own so you needed to really push it open or pull it shut hard; there was very little lighting in the room, it always appeared very day; one of the two lamps did not have a bulb in it; the bathroom was also very dark; the bathroom could have used a couple more hooks to hang towels. read more

Bad Experience!!! To state the rooms are in need of updating is an understatement. We only stayed because we brought a senior family member for her birthday, this is the place she wanted to go and her handicapped room was clean. Our rooms....not so much. The first room we were given wasn't cleaned at all!!! The second room was in need of a lot of repair and care. The bathroom was missing hairdryer nor did it have a towel holder - there was a hole for one behind the door and one on the wall but no actual holder and the shower curtain was stained both sides - yuck!!! I'm glad I had flip flops to wear because the floor felt damp. Pictures missing from walls but again nails and picture holders were there. The safe was missing from closet and Kleenex stuffed into peep holes on doors; didn't notice this until morning. I spoke with woman behind desk upon checking out and she stated she would let "them" know. Never again no matter how tired will I stay. Zero Stars!!! read more

I would stay far away from ho-chunk hotel-casino if your looking for a clean place to stay. As you can see by the photos the cleaning part is lacking any emphasis . When i told them about the issues. The first response wasn't to clean and correct it. It was to offer me a free room. The next day the hot tub was worse and had ants crawling about and food crumbs left from the night before. Yes it got worse. It's like the twilight zone of hotels. read more

Room awful! Management did not care! Paid for an upgrade for the rain shower head. Wish we would not have! Was just a shower head in the the middle of a shower stall. The room was filthy as you can see by the pictures below. When we got there and laid on the bed, we could smell head sweat on the pillows! We bought linen spray at the outlet mall! Mattress the cheapest you could get. 3 flat pillows for a king bed(with no extras in the room to be had). Needs updates as you can see in the pictures. Which by the way we did share with management and they only gave us $15 off per night begrudgingly only after we spoke with the head of housekeeping. Never again. We will stay somewhere else and come enjoy the casino. The casino was wonderful. read more

Just for fun, I booked a night at the Ho-Chunk Resort Hotel on a Monday in October based on an offer I received through the casino's rewards program. It was pretty dead on a Monday, and we were placed on the first floor. Our room was spacious and generally clean, and featured a small patio table outside of the sliding glass door that served as our room's window. There's a large amount of construction going on both inside and out of the casino, but we didn't hear any of it from our room even though I could see plenty of workers across the courtyard in the morning. Good: king bed, clean sheets, bizarre but roomy table in front of the TV shelf, microwave, mini fridge, two chairs with ottomans, decent WiFi, large rainfall shower, and toiletries that smelled divine and were the perfect scent blend for unisex use. Not so good: room was very dim even with all lights turned on, there was a faint presence of smoke that had wafted in from the casino, and our hand towels under the sink had coffee spilled on them with a dried puddle underneath on the floor. In general the room seemed very clean, so I don't know if the cleaning person spilled their drink on the way out or what. Makes me a little hesitant, but I'll take spilled coffee over blood stains and rogue hairs. Check in and check out were easy. There are multiple lanes to pull up to the doors for check-in, but be mindful of construction - when we arrived we couldn't enter that way and had to walk through the casino. Later that night and the next day it was open, though. They've got some great rates and deals and are only about 10 or 15 minutes from the Dells - worth a look if you don't want to pay waterpark resort prices! read more

Very dissapointed this room was for 1 night and it cost us $240. This hotel could be as beautiful as the hotel but obviously they spend the money on the casino only. This room was gross. Pools area was dirty old and outdated. Waterfall in pool area wasn't working. No continental breakfast offers only 2 pillows on each bed. read more

Stayed here again despite knowing what we were signing up for. Did what I could to be proactive and called the front desk a week before arrival to try and address the uncomfortable mattress situation. No such luck. We stayed at this location so that my grandmother could come and go as she wants as she cannot drive and does not have the luxury of independence . My mother and I hang out and/or relax in the room while she gambles. Arrived at check in time and there was a small issue with our room not being ready just yet.....was able to hear the cleaning crew over the walkie talking saying the room was good to go. Dirty bandaid stuck under the shower seat. Mandarin oranges and cookies (and a lost slipper saying "Dad") under the beds that looked like they'd been there for quite a while. No hairdryer. Completely caked on dust/lint on both vents and what looked like mold/water drip stains all over the bathroom walls. No extra blankets available in the room and the beds only had sheets and a paper thin blanket. There are very obvious dips in the mattresses that caused extreme discomfort for all three of us. Had hopes that maybe the hot tub/pool area would a bit cleaner than last time since there was a large event going on. Walked in and the smell from the chlorine not only burned our noses but our eyes, and the water quality was still dark and murky. So no pool time for us. I'm very confused on how they can charge the prices they do for these rooms and why improvements are not being made. Ho Chunk, please do better. read more

Our room was super clean and had a perfect layout. Everything had been updated and seemed new. The shower set up was amazing and relaxing. It was really quite in our room and we never heard anyone in the other rooms or in the hallway. The bed was comfortable and cozy to sleep in. The pool was beautiful. We had a weekend Father's Day stay and everything was very nice. Rooms were modern and clean and housekeeping staff was excellent. We had a $169 gamers package which included a $10 meal voucher per person/ per day and $50 rewards points per day/ per person. We did meals at the Standrock Buffet because it was convenient and fast. No complaints. We don't gamble much, but found it to be a great place to stay when visiting the Wisconsin Dells area. read more

Disappointed. Pictures of the rooms online were not accurate of the real thing. Even rooms were smelling of smoke. Everything was old and worn out. I slept with bath towels on me since I am not accustomed to no comforter. Never again. read more

I arrived several hours early because I was told the night before I could check in as early as noon provided they had a room, this was a Wednesday. I arrived at noonish and the rude older lady at the counter said she had sold out the night before...lie, I had checked...she said she only had 1 room then put me in a handicapped room where I could not even stand under the shower. The carpet in the loom was torn, other than that it was very nice and comfy. I ate at the steak house, dry overpriced and not worth it for the meal I ate. Vodka tonic was consistently flat. Carrot cake dry and must have web from Walmart and certainly did not look like the display. Gaming was as expected, unregulated Indian reservation that clearly steals your money. If you plan to go there, to go there plan to lose, clearly the reason the casino was not even half full and I stayed til Friday.and do not even expect a reasonably priced beer. Over all, D-, do not recommend. read more

The hotel is large and has pretty sitting areas. Check in requires the person that makes the reservation to be on site, otherwise a phone call is made to confirm reservation. My main complaint is that we received zero maid service. So we had garbage piled up and no clean towels/washcloths for the second day. I called and was transferred to leave a message for maid staff but never heard back. The buffet is a good price but nothing was very good. It had a nice variety of food but everything was either ok or bad. We had fun in the casino after we became rewards members. Our other complaint was the patio that comes with the corner room. It was tiny and made for one person and pidgins and their poop. The pool and hot tub were nice. read more
