Shopping drained me today, and the time for a snack was two lines ago. I saw Ho Ho Garden, so i walked in. A polite last acknowledged me while she dealt with a phone order with an obvious "impaired" individual. After she hung up, she directed all her attention to me and took my order. Yayyyy a nice counter person. Thai tea (yes, Thai tea!) And a shrimp roll. The staff looks pretty relaxed and it seems they prepare the food carefully (fingers crossed). The roll is real!!!! It's homemade and so is the tea! The skin/wrap isn't thick and doughy it's light and crisp like real egg rolls are! The tea is super sweet but it too is deliciously authentic. Have been ordering from Ho Ho Garden for a little over two years now and the quality and consistency of the food is always on point. I typically order veggie and shrimp dishes (steamed with sauce on the side), the dishes are always cooked perfectly and the sauces are never salty but still packed with flavor. The food is always piping hot whenever I've picked up and ordered delivery. When I ordered chicken rice soup, the rice tastes a bit hard and the chicken tastes like it came straight from the freezer for a very long time. $2 for a small chicken rice soup! What a ripoff, some small chicken rice soup that I encountered cost about $1.75 or less and it tasted better than this load of crap! read more

I go here when I just get off the A train when it is late night and am in the mood for some greasy chinese here. The boneless spare rib tips are really good. I agree that the general fried rice is kind of weird that it is really brown. I also only really order the mixed vegatable soup. I feel for the price it is worth it. Glad to say we finally found it at Ho Ho Garden. Wings are crispy, flavorful, and decently sized...meaning they're not oversized man wings. Not the fanciest place but if you don't care and just want good Chinese food at an affordable price, this is the place to go in Queens. Very fresh. My go-to place especially when I'm tired from work or class and not in the mood to cook. My favorite is the Chicken-Broccoli in garlic sauce and the Kung Pao chicken. Been going here for years and it's really heartwarming when they know you so well. Lol. They make it exactly how I love without any compromise. The people there are really nice. read more

We used to eat here before I checked the restaurant inspections. Their fried chicken was really good at one time too. Their house special fried rice and even regular fried rices used to have EGG and sprouts in it with green onion and peas... now you only get onion in your fried rice. And the rice is super brown and greasy, what's up w/ that? It seems like they refuse to change the oil there cuz the chicken is dark brown and dry now, when it used to be golden crisp, plump and yummy. I'm not ordering from there again, what's the point if the other person behind the wok doesn't give a who-ha about the person who worked for about 3 hours to earn that 5 minute meal. read more

First of i found this spot on Yelp. Thanks to Farrah B. for the review of the Spring roll. O-M-G its sooooooo goooooodd!!!! On a snowy day on our way home, i called in an order. The young man on the phone(maybe son of owner) was very helpful and took me order accordingly. He repeated my whole order and gave me the total. Upon pick up(btw they do accept credit cards) the lady behind the counter was very polite and helpful. We ordered 2 Shrimp rolls, 1 Egg roll Large order of Chicken & Broccoli, small General's Tso chicken, HFR no peas no carrots. They rolls were hands down the best we've had. As F stated, they are flaky and not doughy at all. They are so thin you're able to taste and savor the filing. The chicken & broccoli was good, the HFR was not bad although i think it needs a little more flavor. The General's chicken was very good. Like there was actual chicken in this and not just dough. I really like this since most places just use dough and not chicken. :-/ So we will be ordering from this place in the future. Oh and they're not that expensive, moderate which is good :-) read more

The place has pretty decent food, is fast to deliver, and no matter how many times you think they will fu*k your order up they always come through. They also will throw in a free can of soda from time to time. My only complaint is that they wont take a debit card if your order isn't over $10.00. They know that's illegal to do and the merchant process service could pull their credit card machine for doing it but hey sometimes you have to take the good with the bad. This place is right next to my house so I'm a regular here. IMO they have the best Chinese food in a three mile radius. I have tried about 13 others places and none have usurped Ho Ho gardens position as number one. My favorite dish is there shrimp and broccoli with white sauce. It is to die for. There shrimp teraiaki is also great. The only thing they need to improve is there fried rice. not much flavor. They also have shrimp dumplings which gives danny's place on cross bay a run for there money. read more

Good tends to be okay at times and the food will leave you happy. Sometimes the staff tends to be deaf but you have to speak up when you order. meh. meh meh meh meh. meh? meh. mehhh?? meh. bland, generic, fast delivery. cmon people, a little effort huh? its food! and theres tons of competition. ANYTHING fried tastes like fish because they dont get the simple rule that if you have fried seafood on the menu, it requires its own separate fryer. you can't use the same oil over and over all day either. oil needs to be changed regularly throughout the day. especially in high volume fried food menu establishments as chinese take out tend to be. as the pieces of breading, flour and food sink to the bottom, they just sit in the oil and burn, causing the oil to darken and get awful flavor. also you need to be mindful of the temperature of the oil, u cant just leave it on high and use the same setting for everything you drop in it. everything has different temp and timing requirements. lastly, clean the fryer at least once a day. at least. read more
