    Front office waiting room, pretty empty on a November Saturday and Sunday morning

    I have been very lucky and fortunate enough in my life to travel often, and I have the option to do medical tourism for affordable care (consulting, diagnostic testing, etc) all around the world, like in the CDMX or in Europe. However, I come to this specific practice in Irvine because of the professionalism, integrity, and quality of care I've received. I have been coming here for about 10 years, as I used to have an office on Millikan Ave, very close by. The office staff, facility, and medical providers have repeatedly exceeded my expectations, and I credit this clinic with helping me through several serious health episodes, including UTIs that nearly progressed to sepsis. This is why I chose them as my family practice. During this recent visit, I had been traveling frequently and experiencing health concerns, so I came in for a preventative care visit/checkup. I met with Dr. Khan (Dr.K), who was exceptional...Insightful, thorough, attentive, and proactive. He ordered appropriate tests, explained everything clearly, and made sure I felt supported and understood. He asked that I return the next morning for fasted bloodwork, which I did. When I returned, I requested a brief consultation to ask a follow-up question I had forgotten during my initial visit. The front desk kindly informed me that only a Nurse Practitioner was available. In my history with Nurse Practitioners, they have been just as helpful and knowledgeable to address my questions and concerns as MDs. I have a great respect for all medical professionals, whether MD, DO, NP, PA, etc. I was more than comfortable meeting with any medical provider available as my primary care provider. However, my experience with the NP I met, Vanessa, was the complete opposite of the standard I've come to appreciate here. She spent less than 10 minutes with me, was dismissive and condescending, and showed no interest in my symptoms, concerns, or medical history. She asked no clarifying questions and offered no meaningful assessment. It was the least professional interaction I've ever had at this clinic, and one of the worst I've experienced in the U.S. medical system overall. For anyone seeking thoughtful, intentional, and high-quality care at this practice, I strongly recommend seeing any provider other than NP Vanessa. This practice does not offer appointments, so I would advise just calling the front desk staff who are exceedingly helpful and lovely, and ask how to avoid coming in on a day where the NP Vanessa is working. I would suggest you seek care from anyone else at this establishment, if you hope to engage with a medical provider that is willing, attentive, thoughtful, and caring. Aside from my one terrible experience, every other interaction I've had at Irvine Urgent Care has been excellent. The front desk staff, interns, nurses, and lab team have all been professional, efficient, and consistently wonderful to work with.

    Update: Bryan the manager called me directly to find out why we were billed this crazy amount from the lab. He seemed concerned and we spent time on the phone, figuring it out. He said he would call the lab directly and find out what was going on. The next day he called me and let me know that the lab was closed and he would have to wait until Monday, but he assured me he would follow up. So instead of just leaving me hanging, he followed up which I thought was super professional. And then the icing on the cake he just called me and said that he called the lab and that Irvine Urgent Care was going to take care of all out-of-pocket charges for us from the lab as he wanted to make sure that we felt like we were taken care of in this matter. Their excellent reviews are not by accident obviously and that's why we've come here several times. But now, knowing that their customer service and management really care, there is not a Urgent Care I would recommend more than this place.

    I give to stare for their great customer service and for being very fast but 2 people tried but they weren't able to do my bloodwork! It was very painful and I've never had such a bad experience. It was interesting that two people weren't able to do a blood work and i was there in the morning but still i cant move my hands....quality of work for blood lab wasnt there i ended up to drive to Quest where with first try without any pain They did my blood work.Am i going back to this place, obviously no. If you do blood test here be ready because in my case they werent able to do my blood work and i was surprised!

However, when the MRI technician came to take me into the room and set up the machine, she seemed very careless and not very attentive. She briefly asked what kind of music I wanted, then closed the door and left. I asked how long the procedure would take, and I was told fifteen minutes. Once it started, the noise from the machine was extremely loud and suddenly caused me to develop a headache. I simply endured it for the full fifteen minutes. When it was finished and another staff member came in to open the machine and help me out, I mentioned what happened. He told me that next time I should ask for earplugs. I responded that I hope there won't be a next time soon, as this is not something I experience regularly. In my opinion, patients should be reminded in advance that the noise can be very loud and that ear protection is available. This discomfort could easily be prevented. I feel the staff need to be a bit more attentive and considerate, rather than just treating it as a routine task and moving on. Patients deserve more care and awareness.

I watched a steady stream of patients get up to ask the front desk how much longer it would be. The answer was the same every time: we don't know. Sit down. Wait. When I was finally called up, it was not to be seen. It was to be told they don't accept my insurance. The exact insurance we provided when we booked. The exact insurance they confirmed when they took the appointment. An hour of my life burned because nobody at this office bothered to verify a single line of information before I drove in and sat down. The woman behind me in line had been waiting two hours past her appointment. Still not seen. The receptionist was lovely. That is not the issue. The issue is that this entire operation has decided patients are a captive audience. That our time has no value. That "we don't know" is a complete sentence. That confirmed appointments are suggestions and posted appointment times are decorative. Hospitals and imaging centers seem to think they get to behave like the DMV. They do not. There are other providers. There are other systems. And I will be using them. Run your front office. Verify insurance before the appointment, not after. Communicate with the people sitting in your lobby. Treat the appointment time as a commitment, not a placeholder. Until then, save people the trip. Hands-down, the worst experience at a doctors office. You guys are an absolute embarrassment.

I'm only 30 years old and I did not have any abnormalities (just some fibrous tissue) that my primary care was too concerned about and told me I did not need to get a mammogram for this. Just a basic check up. Upon the appointment, I had told the hospital staff I was not going to get a mammogram and they agreed. However, the doctor kept pushing me I ended up crying in the doctors office because of how pushy he was. Literally forcing unnecessary pressure on a young patient who vocalized multiple times did not want a mammogram but the doctor said he would not write me a diagnosis if I didn't. Extremely unprofessional

    The Yelp rating was so low, that I was scared to go to here for an MRI. You have to check in half…read morean hour before your appointment - which I guess ensures that people show up on time, but means you'll be sitting around waiting for a while, especially if you've already checked in online. Thank goodness for smartphones. I have never had an MRI before, but Leo the technician was very friendly and made the experience easier. I was worried that I might feel claustrophobic, but the machine was open at the end, so you could see the rest of the room. Results were available through the portal a few days later. The reason why I didn't give Hoag five stars is that the MRI was done in a trailer, next to the building. It felt kind of amateurish for a highly ranked hospital like Hoag.

The techs in the back are sometimes friendly, but they're on a mission to get you in and out in a timely manner. I received good care every single time. Let's face it, coming here can be nerve wracking, but procedures need to be done for preventative reasons. This place is clean and efficient. I've never had any issues with them. If you need an annual mammogram and ultrasound, this is the place, in my opinion.
