The office moved locations, and the address I had saved was the old one. When I realized the mistake, Google Maps wasn't giving me the correct directions. Instead of being able to call the office directly, I was routed to Hoag Member Services, where I spent 5-10 minutes on hold just trying to get directions. The reminder texts also have no office addresses. I had already driven 40 minutes, arranged childcare early that morning, and was doing everything I could to make it to my appointment. I arrived 18 minutes late and was turned away because the grace period is 15 minutes. Missing an appointment over three minutes after spending so much time simply trying to reach someone for directions was incredibly frustrating. I also called Patient Relations and left a voicemail but never received a call back. Hoag really needs to make it easier for patients to contact their doctor's office directly. I understand the need for office policies, but there also needs to be some common sense and flexibility when the delay is caused by Hoag's own communication system. Again, Dr. Ramsey is wonderful, and I'll continue seeing her. I just hope Hoag improves the patient experience because this was completely avoidable.

The check in woman was so warm and prompt for us. My son was singing loudly and playing with kids toys ( with a bleeding head ) while we waited to be seen and honestly he was probably too loud especially because we weren't the only ones in the waiting room, but she was just laughing and telling me how sweet he is. Then it was time to go back. The nurse/ assistant that walked us back and got us settled was also just such a gem and made us feel so welcomed and safe. Then Dr. Gentile came in and right off the bat my son was smitten with him. He played games with my son and explained clearly everything he was going to do and made him feel strong and brave and in charge of his own body. My son ended up needing two staples in the back of his head and numbing injections.The staff and doctor worked together so well and so fast my son barely had time to react! I was so impressed and so relieved. My son was talking about the Dr all week telling me how cool he was and how he wants him at his upcoming birthday party. Just so sweet. What a great role model to have in our community to reinforce the idea to our kids that doctors are here to make us better and aren't scary but are heros ! Yes, it was difficult to get my first appointment- felt like a lot of jumping through hoops with verifying insurance coverage and getting set up in their system. Yes, the front desk can sometimes come across as curt. And yes, everyone has their bad days dealing with others. Yes, it can be hard to make appointments if the office is closed or they are out to lunch (12:30-1:30). However, I have found that the other front office people are very kind and compassionate. The office is very pretty and clean. Everything is run very efficiently and I never wait more than 5 minutes for my appointments. Now, for the real reason you go to the doctor anyway- the back office staff and physicians! They are WONDERFUL! Very prompt. Very professional. Very compassionate and friendly. Very knowledgable. I have seen Dr E. Rexinger and Kelly Fee the PA. LOVE Kelly!! Dr E Rexinger is a very fine physician and I love his assistant, I just connect better with Kelly. If I wanted X-ray I would have to go somewhere else The next day I was in pain and I wnet back to Rancho. No X-ray machine. I then went to the San clemente providence urgent care. The NP removed two things from my foot and said she thought she got it all but I can get an X-ray if I want. Thank goodness i got the x ray. There was an object in my foot. I made an appointment for a procedure with a pediatric group. I called San Clemente and asked for my X-ray. i was told I could pick it up anytime before 7;30. I got there at 4:00 and was told the X-ray technician was not there and togo TO RMV to get the x ray which made no sense. I went to RMV urgent care and was told i could only get it from the San Clemente urgent care.i called l in the morning and ask them to email. I called at 8:00 and was told they don't email. I had to pick it up. I had a 9:00 procedure so That was not going to work. I asked to speak to manager or x ray tech and was told no they will tell you the same. I said I still wanted to speak to a manager or X-ray tech and was told he didn't like my tone of voice and that I could not talk to anyone because no one was available.
