The first concert of the 2025-2026 season was held at Watson Hall at the campus of the New Mexico Junior College. Vast improvements over the last few years have been made at Watson Hall. Additions have been built, including a fabulously clean and modern women's restroom. The seats in the small auditorium seem new if not brand new. I like this venue because it allows the performers to interact more with the audience. The Moanin' Frogs were the night's entertainment on Saturday, October 18, 2025 -- they were fabulous. The group featured six saxophonists whose day jobs include teaching associate professors all around the United States & Canada. They were Edward Goodman, Jonathan Hulting-Cohen, Gabriel Piqué, Jefferey Leung, Jeff Siegfried, & Lucas Hopkins. The group took use of the entire auditorium. One saxophonist disappeared after the ending of a song, then unbeknownst to us he reentered the auditorium from behind the audience as he began singing "The Barber of Seville: 'Largo al factotum.'" My oldest daughter enjoyed the quaint, intimate atmosphere of the venue. Meanwhile, my youngest daughter preferred a larger venue in town. Parking was free. The campus was relatively safe as it was well-lit and on-campus security officer was even in attendance for a short while. Overall, we can't wait to see more productions here.

Tonight's presentation was marvelous…read more The lights were dimmed down low. The auditorium was mostly quiet. The sound system was mostly good too. I wanted it just a touch louder because two people behind me talked throughout the entire program... The Jack Maddox Foundation welcomed Kevin Fedarko and Pete McBride as their distinguished speakers for September 15, 2026. The two spoke of their adventure experiences -- predominantly their nearly 800-mile, 14-month journey through the Grand Canyon, one of my personal favorite places in the world. They narrowed their experience down to three "gifts": Humility. Tranquility (earthly silence). And the last is what I like to refer to as the "wow factor" (because that's what the Earth's naturalness is to me), but they explained it as perspective and a sense of resilience in nature. Photographer McBride displayed much of his hard-earned artwork on the large screen behind them as they spoke. After listening to the two friends speak not only quite eloquently, but also with remarkable humor, I now have every intention of reading Fedarko's "A Walk in the Park" memoir sooner rather than later. My eighth grade daughter got to enjoy a speech by the duo during a school field trip earlier in the day. She quite enjoyed it. As usual, thank you very much to the Maddox family and foundation for these free-to-us educational and inspiring events. The next series is scheduled for April 6, 2027. I can't wait to hear who will be the speaker or speakers. Now to enjoy this fabulous thunderstorm that has graced our desert landscape.

Because she's part of her school's band, they had a special. The discount took off $15.95. The cleaning kit (and a folding music stand included free) came out to $31.99. My other daughter has been taking private guitar lessons in their small practice room since May 2025. We are gracious for their support and so glad they don't get made when her lesson goes a minute or two over time (which is closing time). Huge fan.

A very talented accordion player and song writer showed up in her Elvis wig to perform the Elvis song that I requested. She switched up the lyrics to the personalize it to the guy that we were pranking. The videographer captured every moment. From the initial inquiry, to discussing the logistics and the execution it went off without a hitch! I highly recommend Rumble. I can't wait to hire them again to put on another show. Eagle 9 is okay compared to my old movie theaters…read more I haven't been here in ages. Since I watched American Sniper. Before that, memorable movies I saw were Titanic, Jurassic Park and The Cowboy Way. Lol. It's definitely been renovated. Leather, mechanical-reclining lounge chairs with a tray and a cup holder. The only restrooms are way in the front near the snack bar. The floors are always sticky. A small Sprite was $5.25 plus tax. The candy selection was lame, therefore, I am more likely to smuggle in my own next time. Recently on June 18, 2024, I came here with my daughters and their aunt and grandmother. No one ever asked to see the tickets that I bought to see IF which was adorable by the way. But our movie was disrupted by staff members asking others to leave and/or move because they either didn't have tickets or had the wrong seats. Yesterday on June 6, 2024, I came by myself to watch Sound of Hope. Great movie by Angel Studios. When I was at the snack bar, a young girl asked to see my ticket so I showed her my phone. She wasn't particularly nice about it. She asked to see it again and then gave me a printout of a small ticket stub. They never even scan your tickets. It's the strangest ordeal. The worst part about this experience is that me and another lady went up to the front to tell them that our movie previews hadn't started when it was supposed to at 12:30PM. No apology or any explanation was made. I'm glad we said something because I don't think they were checking on our theater room at all. Dirty restrooms. Barely enough soap to wash my hands and no paper towels. It's OK for my hometown movie theater, but it certainly could be better. The staff is nothing like it was when my brother used to work here in the early 2000s. It's nothing like it used to be when Mr. Littlejohn was in charge. TIP + every Tuesday all movies are $5 per ticket.

Brewery in the casino complex serves great and reasonably priced brick oven pizza. Casino was fun for a little diversion. The most pleasant surprise was the free continental breakfast. Never found one of those at a casino hotel.

I was a Guest with a Room…read moreand intended to Have a 2 to 3 Day Stay, Gamble and Relax....instead I had to have a Confrontation with an Ignorant "Manager" and a "SPECIAL FAVOR" Privilege Person, over "HANDICAP PARKING". First and foremost, there is a Lack of Regular Parking, no need to Mention Lack of "Handicap Parking". I had Waited for Over an Hour and a Halve for an Opening to Come Available, when all of the Sudden one did and as soon as he pulled out, 2 Individuals followed with a "Road Cone" to BLOCK the Parking Spot....I called Hobbs PD to inquire about such Action, it was thru their Advise this Action was NOT Lawful...It was a First Come First Serve....I went further to advise the 2 Flunkies that they needed to remove the "CONE"..They Refused....I Was trying to contact the Front Desk to inform them of the Situation....Instead one of the Flunkies had already called the "Manager"....So it Turns Out the SHE had Authorized this Action...When I tried to Explain that this was Unlawful, She Showed Her Ignorance of the Law not only that Her Entitlement of "We give Special Privileges to certain "MEMBERS"....Again I tried to inform her of the Law....She Threatened to call "Security" and have ME Removed....This was Uncalled for and the Casino is Not a Regulator of Handicap Parking although They are Suppose to Enforce Violators of it....of Which they Don't.....5 Vehicles without any Handicap Placard visible were in the same Spot 17 Hours Later...WE need More Training and Common Sense of What is Right and What is Wrong...Fairness to ALL is the issue My Dollar is Just as Good as This other One.
