Just recently, a woman by the name of Sue approached her out of the blue and told her that she needed to pick up all of her things and leave and take classes if she wanted to come back. She was then left scavaging for all of her pieces and tools in front of all of the other artists in the studio at the time, leaving my friend mortified. She was later informed that she asked too many questions and so prompted Sue to kick her out. Because that clearly makes sense. In no situation is that kind of embarrassment ever acceptable and if this is the kind of practice that you guys are running, I want zero part of it. I hope you take a moment to reprioritize the humans who give you the money to keep your business running because if you carry on in this manner, that energy will come right back at you. My favorite yarn shop closed a couple of years ago and so I had been buying yarn online. I was in a bind and needed some to knit up a weekend project for my coworker's baby and found Fiberwood on Yelp. It's in a nice location in 'Tosa in a residential area so it's not very crowded and you should have no trouble finding parking, especially since they are only open during the day. I walked in and browsed around there were 3-4 other people in there receiving help with projects. The first thing I noticed is that there weren't that many yarns, but the yarns they do carry were a decent quality. Cascade 220 in a variety of colors, ECO Wool, Malabrigo....I was happy with the color selection of the Cascade 220s, but the colors I was interested in did not have enough skeins for me to complete the project. After I browsed, I was greeted by a person I believe to be the owner. I showed her the pattern for the hooded baby wrap and that I was looking for a yarn and open to restrictions as long as it was a natural fiber. We looked at a few options and I eventually settled on the Malabrigo Mecha super wash in Dewberry at $15.95 each. If you need needles, books, or patterns, she has that as well. I'm not sure what brand of needles (I'm an Addi Turbo fan), but I did see she had them on the wall. They accept cash, Visa and MasterCard and she bagged the yarn for me. I really appreciated her help and I would definitely go back if I needed certain yarns. I wish I could have given four stars, but I had to take off work to go there because of the hours and there were quantity shortages for all of the yarn colors I was interested in the Cascade 220. This would be limiting for larger projects like blankets or sweaters, but it is a smaller shop less targeted towards yarn, so I understand.

Last year, I approached John Korom, the owner, about bringing my installation Still Life 69 which had been shown before, to show at his gallery. He agreed as long as I brought new work. Good call. Not only did I get to show the installation in a different setting, I had new work to show also. John actually sent out email blasts, facebook posts etc about the show. The space is really special. He employs a special system for hanging your art, one like I've never seen before. I've never hung a show and it was really easy to do. Each artist has their work up for a month. It's really a 4.5 star rating. ;)

One day though, one day... The staff prefer to handle the bolts, so if you need a yard or two of anything, please get them to help. This isn't Wal-Mart. Additionally, they will cut sample swatches of almost any fabric on display. The staff on hand are not pushy, and they are knowledgeable in what they sell. They also offer home consultations if you just can decide on which pattern to select for curtains. What's more is that they offer upholstery and window treatment services! Getting here is easy, and there is a private parking lot available. When you're done, it's easy to just hop over to Mayfair for more shopping.

The furniture is ancient, 3x as old as me and is still in amazing shape for its age but dear God was it hideous before I brought it here to have it reupholstered. The prices here match the top-shelf quality and luxury of the products and services, so keep that in mind. The staff was really helpful in finding me the right fabric and patterns for what I was going for. I was a little nervous handing over my furniture considering its age and my history with it but within a couple weeks I got my furniture back looking gorgeous and brand new without any problems whatsoever. I was so happy with their upholstery work that I even had them make me a rug and some drapes that work perfectly with my "new" furniture.
