There's a bunch of interesting biking gear, mid-to-high end bicycles, bike rentals, and apparently cross country ski gear and rentals during the winter months. After passing the big (nay, huge!) "wolf" swing set outside several times on our way to-from our B&B, we felt we had to stop by to check it out. The staff was very helpful and informative, although it was a surprisingly slow Labor Day. There is also a nascent brewery opening in the same building (Adventure Brewing), but they were not yet pouring their first batches (although they should be by now). We took advantage of the short walking paths through the fields, which apparently turn into X-C ski trails once the snow piles up. We were so impressed with Bayfield and its typical annual snowfall that we are planning to return in the winter for a weekend of skiing!

I inspect the bike and other then some scratches the only damage is the front rim is tweaked and the tire is flat. I call Bikes & Boards and talk to Ivan who says bring it in. We drive over and he trues the rim on the spot and changes the tube for $15. Really $15. In Chicago where we are from it would have been $50. This is an old school bike shop were they know bikes. No super snobby people just good old down home bike knowledge. If you ever get the chance stop in and say hello. These guys are the real deal.

He was very helpful with offering to unload my bike when I arrived and showed me an easier way to load and travel with my bike when we were finished. He was knowledgeable and took time to show me what changes to make to my brakes so that I understood. My visit lasted about 10 mins and I was back on my way. The other was a floor model. It was reasonably priced and ready to take home the day I bought it. My experiences with the service department were always satisfactory. The staff seem to be bike nerds who are not particularly friendly or engaging with the customers -- but they get the job done -- and all of my bike needs can be taken care of here in Minocqua so I don't have to trek off to Madison or Milwaukee.
