I finally realized they basically were incapable of fixing it and went to pick it up. They charged me over $400 for NOT fixing my bike. I essentially had to pay a ransom to get it back. We wound up taking it to a real bike repair shop in the Cities where they told us it needed a five dollar fuse and ten minutes worth of labor. As a repair shop, E-Bike of Duluth is indifferent and incompetent. I'll be suggesting Rad Bike remove them from their recommended service locations.

He was very helpful with offering to unload my bike when I arrived and showed me an easier way to load and travel with my bike when we were finished. There's a bunch of interesting biking gear, mid-to-high end bicycles, bike rentals, and apparently cross country ski gear and rentals during the winter months. After passing the big (nay, huge!) "wolf" swing set outside several times on our way to-from our B&B, we felt we had to stop by to check it out. The staff was very helpful and informative, although it was a surprisingly slow Labor Day. There is also a nascent brewery opening in the same building (Adventure Brewing), but they were not yet pouring their first batches (although they should be by now). We took advantage of the short walking paths through the fields, which apparently turn into X-C ski trails once the snow piles up. We were so impressed with Bayfield and its typical annual snowfall that we are planning to return in the winter for a weekend of skiing!

The check-in and rental process only takes about 15 minutes and then you can be on the road! The staff will give you tips on recommended trails and loops to take on your ride. The paths are well-marked and bikes can go off-road as well if you want to add a little more adventure to your ride! We had so much fun riding bikes around the North Shore. He is knowledgeable, professional and informative. It's clear that the repair portion of the shop is quite busy, he still takes the time to explain what needs to be done and answer all the questions one might have. Another pleasant thing when visiting a new shop is to be confident that you're never being sold things that you don't need. The visits here have left this humble reviewer with the feeling that we were provided with nothing but honest opinions and options. We mentioned that we are only in town a few days and have been looking forward to taking advantage of the good weather and killer biking the local area. I could tell they were slammed with repairs and expected a day or so, but John called that afternoon at 5:20 PM saying, "I got it done", which was welcome news for sure. The mechanic took a look and explained the easy fix along with doing some minor work to each tire. He also gave GREAT advice on how to maintain my tires correctly. When dealing with a small local business, if they do anything minor for you, if they don't charge you, give the person some "lunch money". It is worth the trek to Bayfield simply to experience Tom's knowledge and love of cycling. The man knows his craft. He studied at mechanics and construction at United Bicycle Institute of Ashland, OR. He rides daily. What's the aforementioned knowledge worth? A great ride on some stellar trails around Northern Wisconsin. Tom bikes to work everyday, he knows the area, he rides the trails. He'll rent you a bike, and talk cycles as much, or as little as you would like. The rental selection is extensive, the trails are enjoyable, I highly reccomend a visit.

It is rare to find a bike shop that is not filled with bravado and egos. I avoid bike shops as much as possible because of that and my bike suffers the consequences. Trevor gave a good bike tune-up for a very fair price. I appreciate that they put fresh cable crimps on so they know which cables they have worked on. Moreover, he took the time to give me some solid instructions on how to not wear out my brakes in the future - and did so like a gifted teacher. Priceless.
