They knew I wanted to ride early, and even called me to tell me I could pick it up before they officially opened. Many bike shops wouldn't have got me riding again, and I would have lost the chance to ride some of Duluth's awesome new trails, but Conti did. Definitely above and beyond the call of duty! He was very helpful with offering to unload my bike when I arrived and showed me an easier way to load and travel with my bike when we were finished. He was knowledgeable and took time to show me what changes to make to my brakes so that I understood. My visit lasted about 10 mins and I was back on my way. There's a bunch of interesting biking gear, mid-to-high end bicycles, bike rentals, and apparently cross country ski gear and rentals during the winter months. After passing the big (nay, huge!) "wolf" swing set outside several times on our way to-from our B&B, we felt we had to stop by to check it out. The staff was very helpful and informative, although it was a surprisingly slow Labor Day. There is also a nascent brewery opening in the same building (Adventure Brewing), but they were not yet pouring their first batches (although they should be by now). We took advantage of the short walking paths through the fields, which apparently turn into X-C ski trails once the snow piles up. We were so impressed with Bayfield and its typical annual snowfall that we are planning to return in the winter for a weekend of skiing!

The bikes are very user-friendly without a ton of buttons/controls, which makes them easy to use and operate. The check-in and rental process only takes about 15 minutes and then you can be on the road! The staff will give you tips on recommended trails and loops to take on your ride. The paths are well-marked and bikes can go off-road as well if you want to add a little more adventure to your ride! We had so much fun riding bikes around the North Shore. It's a great way to see more of the area without a ton of strenuous effort. By the end of our ride, we were asking how much it would cost to buy the bikes! He is knowledgeable, professional and informative. It's clear that the repair portion of the shop is quite busy, he still takes the time to explain what needs to be done and answer all the questions one might have. Another pleasant thing when visiting a new shop is to be confident that you're never being sold things that you don't need. The visits here have left this humble reviewer with the feeling that we were provided with nothing but honest opinions and options. We mentioned that we are only in town a few days and have been looking forward to taking advantage of the good weather and killer biking the local area. I could tell they were slammed with repairs and expected a day or so, but John called that afternoon at 5:20 PM saying, "I got it done", which was welcome news for sure. They didn't even bother telling me until I emailed them, just never sent them! I had a non-refundable slalom race trip I'd booked. They cost me a ton of money. Absolutely enraging. The mechanic took a look and explained the easy fix along with doing some minor work to each tire. He also gave GREAT advice on how to maintain my tires correctly. He wasn't even going to charge me, but I hooked him up with well deserved lunch money. Soap Box Side Note: People.... When dealing with a small local business, if they do anything minor for you, if they don't charge you, give the person some "lunch money". They will appreciate it and small local business needs $ to survive so don't take advantage of their generosity. Off soap box.
