We were early for our movie at Cinergy Theatre so we stopped into HobbyTown. Glad we did! The four of us had fun looking at the store and all it had to offer. Which is a lot of hobby items like models, RC Vehicles (Cars, trucks, aircraft, helicopters, and boats), Gundam model kits (Lots of them!), Pokémon, Legos, toys, stem toys, puzzles and games. The store is fun to explore and well organized. I think anyone who is into hobbies would enjoy this store and its contents. I love Snoopy and they had several Snoopy themed kits to build. Service was abhorrent. Had to call out the female cashier (don't know name, pale, blonde, ? Razor burn) for being cruel to my daughter at checkout. The cashier actually recommended looking for stuff online due to their limited selection. Neither myself, nor my children found much value in the exchange. 0/10 (not to mention the smell) read more

I really want to like this store, but I had a weird experience. They have on their outside 2 signs that say they take AMEX, but at checkout the cashier said they don't take AMEX. I had to put back stuff. When I mentioned to him that they have signs on the front saying they accept AMEX, he said that was old and went about his business. I have used AMEX here a bunch. I called and told them this is considered false advertising and deceptive business practices, but not sure where that went. The store itself is fine, but this interaction gives me the impression the employees or management are a bit off their rocker. read more

Second time visiting and it's definitely worth the trip. Coming from OKC -- almost anything you couldn't find you can here. They have a wonderful selection of Gundams and even have weekly meetings! There was some change to the store since the last time we visited about 9 months ago. It was really awesome and turns out its a flagship store. Super awesome. My partner loves visiting this store -- friendly people, nice and clean, well organized & sooo many good options -- much more than OKC. Lovely store. Would recommend and visit again. read more

some of the new employees have terrible attitudes and poor customer service skills. this store claims to not be affiliated with hobbytown USA anymore. I've noticed all the good employees have left since this new owner took over. We use to love this store but it's not an enjoyable experience anymore. read more

I enjoy having a local hobby shop that sells radio control aircraft, helicopters, cars and boats. The stand alone hobby stores are almost a thing of the past now that the internet has killed their business. HobbyTown is one of the last remaining hobby stores in Tulsa. Great selection of children's toys too. read more

I visited the story on 9/9/18, searching for Testor's spray paint for multiple plastic model kits. This was a pathetic waste of time....didn't have any of the colors I needed. And the selection was not much better than Hobby Lobby. A lady took my number, said she would call after checking with Testors for availability. I had to call today, to find out that the company is no longer manufacturing it in a shaker bottle. The selection of plastic aircraft kits is terrible, on a par with Hobby Lobby. It's a shame that Tulsa has this one HT, USA, and it is horrible. read more

After spending $180 in the store on a drone and bringing it home, I was extremely displeased with the two minute battery life the unit had. I took it back the same day expecting a refund and instead I was told there were no refunds on drones. I was told that the policy was on the receipt and to be fair it was. I just think that everyone should be told of this extremely strict policy before they checkout. There are many other stores with very liberal return policies and I think that this place should be avoided. read more

I bought a boat on Thursday 5/22/14. While doing the proper pre-check (checking steering/throttle) the throttle would cut out after a few seconds. I took it back on 5/23/14 before going to the lake this weekend and picked up a more expensive, larger model. To my surprise while doing the pre-check on this model the throttle worked great but one of the plastic pieces connecting the servo arm broke during the pre-check. Needless to say I was about two hours away with no boat for the weekend after dropping around $200. I got back into town today and rushed to the store to return/swap the model. Admittedly I barely made it in time 3-4 minutes before closing (5pm) but the store manager Steven told me he couldn't help me and I would have to return on Tuesday (tomorrow is Memorial Day). After being home from the lake I was hoping to use whatever I got in our neighborhood pool. His reasoning was it was almost closing time and he had to "get his guys out there." While I can appreciate that why didn't Steven, the manager, step up and do a return and/or swap which wouldn't have taken more than a few minutes. Why was the door unlocked if they weren't open for business? If you have your door unlocked be prepared to help customers that walk in or lock your doors and only let out the folks who are still there, in my opinion. In college I worked retail at Best Buy and Staples and it was fairly common to have people in the store a few minutes past closing and we always helped them even if it meant staying a few minutes after closing time. So here I am with two defective units in a row and no one wanted to step up to help me. I am a repeat customer and have spent quite a bit of money there but I will no longer. On Tuesday I plan on returning my items for full credit and will inform the local franchise owner of this. Many times when going into the store the employees (not all of them) act like they are too good to help you and they are RC gods who you must bow down to if you ask a simple question. This is not good customer service and I will be voting with my wallet by spending my future thousands elsewhere. They aren't the only game in town and I can also buy online moving forward for much cheaper. If you live in the Tulsa, OK area I would not advise buying anything from them. After 8 heli's, 4 planes, 1 truck and now 2 defective boats I am done. That doesn't account for the numerous upgrade parts, repair materials and other items purchased there. If this is how they treat their customers I no longer want to be one of theirs. read more

bought a Hakko FX 888d Soldering Station on Monday. It will not hold a steady temperature. I took it back and they refused to give me a refund or even a store credit. They accused us of DROPPING it because it has a "crack" across the top, and the crack appears to be after the stickers were applied because the stickers are cracked too. My husband did not do an even job when applying the stickers, so he took his pocket knife and CUT them to overlap. When is the last time you dropped something with vinyl stickers and the stickers tore perfectly even across the "crack"? It is a scrape from the pocket knife, not a crack. That is cosmetic damage, not something that would damage the unit internally. When I asked to see the manager, she just kept saying it was cracked and if the stickers weren't cut in the exact place as the crack, blah blah blah, plus she then added that the tip is bent (it's beveled); and THEN she said, "Well if you would have called us as soon as you realized that it wasn't working; or brought it in right away." Seriously? I bought the thing on Monday evening! We realized it wasn't working on Tuesday, and I tried returning it on WEDNESDAY. We live 30 miles away, it wasn't like we could just run it back down there. I've posted pictures publicly on my FB page if you'd like to see for yourself. Great place to buy rc/parts. Staff is very knowledgeable, all you have to do is ask. That's one thing I do like about this place; if you have a question they will have an answer for you and if they don't they will find the answer for you. Also enjoy the fact that every time I have an issue with an rc I purchased from there, they always know how to resolve the issue. Love this place. read more
