I am puzzled by the reviews I read here (as well as on Nextdoor) and wonder if the experiences received were brought on? Ask yourself... do you know anyone's name in this store? My guess is you do not and that is not what this store is about. That said, I have been going to this sore location for about two years now.. and I am in here a lot, fixing up a new home after moving to Hobe Sound from Stuart (Now the Stuart ACE store is a whole-nuther-issue). I have always found what I wanted in the Hobe Sound ACE and sometimes kick myself for not going there first after not finding what I needed at the big lot stores (i.e. Lowes or HD) and then finding it here! Walk in.. introduce yourself, ask them their name and how their day is going and I bet your experience will mimic my own. A smile and a sincere question about a person goes a long way. I love this store.. Think about it... a hardware store where you can buy a garden tool, a high end gas grill, hammers, PVC piping, sliding door parts, Lanai screen tubing, paint, brushes, solar lights, stainless dock screws, and yeah.... some pickles and BBQ sauce.... read more

I like this store . No, I don't always find what I need but that goes for most stores I'm in. No , I'm not always getting a big cheery welcome, but employees have done their best to help me . I don't wander around the aisles looking for a product. With the time and gas I save by not driving to Stuart, the convenience is worth it. read more

I have been going to this store for 25 plus years, and though it has changed ownership and many employees over the years it has always been a convenient go-to for me. These people are terrific. As a woman, I appreciate how they are always willing to listen to me talk about my project and then help me with the problems that inevitably occur. They never laugh at my inexperience. I really trust and rely on this place. read more

For those of us used to mega-hardware stores, this one is tiny. This could easily be compensated through better service and smartly stocking those items that are needed by most DIY aficionados. But this Ace hardware store fails on both accounts. I am not sure if sending me to the Dollar-Store next door should count as useful service -- it was not. read more

I don't really find this to be "the helpful place". It is a running joke I have about how I never get helped (an exception of one time). They all mull about and try to avoid eye contact with you. I guess as a guy, I'm just supposed to inherently know what I need. My girlfriend, however, is generally asked 3 times if she needs help. Minus that, the store itself is sufficient for any home owner/renter. The products they carry will fit most needs. My preference is Rocky's Ace up by Cove road. read more

"For those of us used to mega-hardware stores", a smaller Ace-style hardware store is refreshing. Most items needed by DIY'ers are stocked, albeit not in the same quantity as in the big box places. But then, how many 3/4" elbows is the average guy going to buy on any given Saturday? I'd venture to say there's more than enough stock in the store to supply the everyday needs of their potential and actual clientele. Also, on a per square foot basis, this store probably has ten times as many employees on the floor as the big boxers...and they are helpful. So don't let the other, bad review sway your opinion of this store. My first impression was the complete opposite of the other guy's - more like, "this is a REAL hardware store!". What the other reviewer failed to get, is that community hardware stores do not try to be all things to all people. They are first and foremost - a community hardware store, stocked and located to supply the generalized needs of the local community. Anybody remember Western Auto? After renovating one house and several commercial spaces, and building two new houses myself - mostly with the help of the big box stores - I'm ready to return to the community-based model. read more

Rude people except for 1 or 2 employees ive been going there for 5 years and know most of them , but the manager wouldn't even exchange a hose nozzle ( that would not open) without a receipt, she was very rude , never going back, I will gladly drive the extra 7 miles to NOT have to deal with rude uneducated people that clearly do not know how valuable neighborhood customers support your business!!! read more

I love our local Ace! I love that when I walk in there is someone coming right over to help me find things. They carry lots of different variety of items. Any time I can avoid the drive to Stuart to the huge stores, I am a happy gal! They have friendly, knowledgeable staff that I can count on! And they have helped donate to the HS Elementary school Christmas float project. Thanks Ace! read more

Poor selections/and /or poor service-could care less or don;t appear knowledeable, whether hardware or household, or garden needs,etc. Just frustrating as it makes it necessary to drive some distance to a big box store (Wal-mart, home Depot, Lowes,etc.) to find what i need. read more
