I called their office line, spoke to Pam, who coordinated all of the paperwork (she sent me the contract while we were on the phone, so quick!), and answered all of my questions. The day of, Erik and Dante were our movers. They were on time, professional, polite, and very careful with all of the furniture. First off, I want to commend Miro and his business for the community work and ethics of "giving back." It's the reason why I chose to move with them. I noticed in his pictures that he participated in relief funds for disasters and repurposes/recycles the junk people want gone. He has a business ethics model with which I can identify. Secondly, but just as important, his prices were fair and his communication was efficient while being courteous. He is responsive and reasonable. No troubles with communication and organizing the move at all. Last and perhaps most important, his guys showed up on time (6 mins early) on the day of the move. Erik and Odell worked well with each other. They were both efficient and careful with our stuff. Erik is hearing impaired and I kept forgetting and sometimes saying things while standing behind him. However, that's my problem and not on him. Odell was personable and Erik is a very sweet person. As movers, excellent but also pleasant human beings. I did notice that Odell is a smoker but it isn't any of my business what he does on his own time. Just mentioning in case anyone else cares. There's an overload of dust and allergens with moving anyway so not a deal breaker for me. Oh! Odell was a godsend with having his tools with him! My hubby had gone to return our U-Box things and Odell took the legs/feet off my elliptical very quickly with great proficiency, with Erik's support, and we got the whole move done within our scheduled time without going over. HodgePodge has done it again! I used this company last year for a move and I was quite impressed, so when I needed a mover again I called Hodgepodge for moving service for March 6, 2020. I called on short notice and they were able to accomodate the date that I needed. The pricing was reasonable and Wendell and Larod did an excellent job. They arrived timely and finished timely. Hodge Podge helped us move from our apartment in Jefferson Park in Chicago to a house in the Northwestern suburbs. They packed up our apartment quickly, excellently wrapping fragile items with blankets, bubble wrap and clear wrap, and took care of everything from beginning to end. Except for a broken small glass shelf and a scratch on the wall of the staircase, everything went well. The guys even helped out on moving a special delivery (paddleboat!) we weren't expecting at the new house from the driveway to the backyard. Friendly crew, good service. Hodge Podge helped me with my move from the south side of Chicago to the north side. They were very courteous, responsive, and took good care of my belongings. They wrapped the furniture in plastic wrap to help keep it protected and to keep the drawers from opening during the move. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because it took a lot longer than I thought it would. The original price quote was much less than what we ended up paying because we had more stuff than I originally anticipated, and some of it was miscellaneous and hadn't been boxed up at the end, and was being carried in basket-carts. (My fault for running out of boxes.) However, there were three guys, and it was a 2-bedroom apartment's worth of stuff. It was enough to fill a truck and a half and it took over 9 hours, with a pay by-the-hour service. But, they did a great job, and I'm not sure if it would have gone faster with any other company.
