You can spend hours, days, a lifetime in this store and still not see "everything". But that's the joy of visiting this place. It's very well organized and the owner is really friendly and helpful. She lets you shop and is always nearby if needed. She has an impeccable memory for details and knows her stuff! She can tell you about every trinket, every painting, every piece of furniture in that store. There are legit antiques, including large pieces of furniture, clocks, lamps and home decor. She also has a large array of vintage things like games, toys, and collectibles. The handmade display case at front was designed by her husband and holds shelves and shelves of wonderful costume jewelry. It's definitely worth the stop in Big Timber if you have a niche that needs scratching. No coins or metals though. She says that is a whole different category, of which she prefers not to meddle. :)

I know of no other place that can compare to this breath-taking site. Go! And be astounded by what is offered to you for essentially free.

Hiking and Art, what a combination!…read more I discovered Tippet Rise last year but was too late in reserving tickets. I am glad to report that I have made a visit and it was spectacular! It was more than I could imagine and the experience is worth telling over and over. The location is about 2 hours Northeast of Yellowstone National Park. It is a tad secluded but that is part of it's allure. It is the right amount of misplacement. The county/city will not allow signs to be put up to help visitors so follow the GPS wisely. It is not difficult to find. There isn't too many turns or roads to take. There are about 5 - 6 enormous sculptures location within the property, including a piece loaned by the Smithsonian. The furthest piece is about 5 miles one way. Visits are allowed to bring their own bikes with helmets or simply hike. There is also a shuttle service so hiking and biking is not a commitment. Jenny was the staff member shuttling all the visitors around and she was amazing! She was friendly, so knowledgeable and kind. She added to the fantastic experience! The property was all ranch land and is rented out to cattle farmers so there are cows and sheep roaming all around. It is a great site to see. The center does provide food for purchase. All the food is prepared and sold by Wild Flower Kitchen. I had their fruit salad, garden salad and grain salad. They were all delicious, simple and local. Their oatmeal cookie also hit the spot. Tips: - Bring sunscreen even on a cloudy day. - Be sure to check in and check out. - Bring hiking shoes and plenty of water. Pros: - Large groups welcomed. - Tours are provided, only $10 each. - Such a beautiful area. Cons: - Only open 4 months out of the year. This place is a hidden gem and I hope more people visit! In advance of my trip, I located a music store in Livingston - Conley's, and sent them an email to see if it would be possible to rent a guitar until the end of September (likely how long I will be here). I received a response and they were indeed able to meet my rental requirements (particular type of pick, capo). I need to keep my calluses solid or I'll be rebuilding them when I finally get back home to CA! I was unable to make the original pickup on Sunday night, and the store is closed on Mondays. Despite this, the Conley family were in the store regardless and told me to swing by on Monday for pickup, as Mr. Conley would be traveling on Tuesday. When I arrived, the Conley's were warm and inviting. Ended up chatting and found out I'm here from the Bay Area and he would be traveling nearby. He enlightened me with his history of gigging in the Bay Area in the 70s, and it was just an authentically interesting and fun conversation. I told Mr. Conley I had been unable to explore Montana, and he suggested if I am still here when he returns, he would be happy to show me around! They are simply genuinely nice people, provided all my equipment at an amazing flat rate of $100, and were more accommodating than a dirty Californian would have expected out here! (Just kidding!) If you can, support the Conley's Music and Book store. They are wonderful and I'm so happy I was able to locate them. Now I just need to remember to return the guitar Thank you!!!!

Everything the local reader needs can be found around downtown Livingston and Conley's is a huge part of the hubbub. Friendly owners and staff, lots of knowledge, a very good selection of boooks with much of it newer. Huge variety of musical taste on CD. Staff is very quick to offer special order requests. But my guide, Adam, is a wonderful teacher and communicator. He's also a really nice guy. I learned a lot and feel that this will give me a great foundation for future fishing. It would have taken years to learn all this by trial and error. And I caught a buncch of fish! Three brown trout, a cut throat and 3 mountain whitefish. And his wife's lunches were terrific! I think experienced fishermen would also enjoy a session with Adam. Well worth it!
