The FFL staff member who processed my transaction refused to provide any accommodation for my severe dyslexia, including denying my companion the right to read the Form 4473 aloud. They were explicitly threatened with removal for attempting to assist. The staff offered no alternative, despite a clear ADA obligation to ensure equal access. After the transfer was denied, they promised to speak with management and provide a follow-up resolution but have not contacted me. This was a degrading experience marked by hostility and a disregard for disability rights.

Hooray for The Base Camp and their phenomenally trained staff. Expectations exceeded! The people were knowledgeable, looked up information when I couldn't find the exact thing I wanted, offered to order something not in stock, but could get from their store in Denver, and then let me explore other inventory. They also made it clear I was under no obligation to buy what they ordered if I changed my mind. No deposit, no restocking fee. Nothing. Available for answering questions, the employees didn't follow me around the store like I was going to steal something (well, maybe one person did on my second visit), give unsolicited commentary on every item I picked up, or attempt to drag me to every other similar, and more expensive, item. As my trip gets closer, I'll be back here to pick up those last minute miscellany. And, because The Base Camp has things for every type of outdoor adventure, it'll be an easy stop without the big-box hassles for future trips.

They have all the huckleberry jams, candies, wine, beer, etc. that you could ever ask for. They sell postcards, patches that depict the state of Montana. They have everything from mandolins to guitars, bass, and even a trumpet! They sell guitar strings, amp wires, capos, anything you need for your musical needs. I think they even had the sheet music to Merle Haggard's "Big City" about getting dropped off in the middle of Montana. The clerk was pleasant, but minded her own business as I poked around and weighed the different huckleberry options. It seems that when things get cold in this town, a hot jam (whether musical or huckleberry) will always spice things up! Unfortunately, the first pullover started developing pulls almost immediately. One particularly long pull in the front snagged on something as minor as my cuticle--something that shouldn't even be possible. I also noticed additional pulls on the back, even though I had been careful with it. When I went into the store to discuss the issue, an employee was empathetic and directed me to the manager. However, the manager--a brunette helping a customer with ski goggles--was completely dismissive. When I explained the situation, she responded with, "Oh, it must have pulled on something." I acknowledged that it caught on my nail, but I was shocked that such an expensive pullover would be so fragile. Rather than offering any assistance or even engaging in a conversation about product quality, she quickly shut it down, saying they couldn't do anything since I had already had it for a few days. For a store selling high-end outdoor gear, I expected better durability and customer support. Spending around $130, I at least hoped for a discussion about quality assurance or a possible exchange. Instead, I was met with indifference. It felt like they cater more to tourists passing through than to customers who actually care about their purchases. If you're looking for durable gear from a store that stands behind its products, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.

The path to the waterfall is also paved with asphalt so it's a smooth walk up and great for strollers. There are two vault toilets at the parking lot, and a small picnic area near the entrance of the parking lot. This is an amazing waterfall. Water cascades down a columnar basalt face so it's particularly stunning. I've seen amazing columnar basalt formations (Devils Tower, Devils Postpile), but none with a water element. It's very memorable. I saw some people trying to scramble up the rocks to get to the top of the waterfall, but I'm not sure how safe that is. From satellite photos it looks like there's just forest up there anyways.

All the way up is paved which makes the experience nicer and easier, if you're not looking to break a leg going up haha. The sunset up there are amazing and all pictures are Instagram worthy!!! I took my 70 year old grandma and she enjoyed the hike and even made it from start to finish. The ride there is a bit intense with many curves so I'd recommend to take a bag for those that may get car sick. I'll be coming back to Montana, just for this beauty!
