I went to my regular dentist to have him examine a broken wisdom tooth and I was referred to Dr. Hoffman for an extraction. I was very nervous as I've never had an extraction, but Dr. Hoffman's assistant quickly put me at ease and actually had me LAUGHING OUT LOUD during the procedure. The entire experience was completely pain free and I only had Novocain and some nitrous. I was in and out in less than an hour. Certainly Dr. Hoffman is one of the most well-qualified and respected oral surgeons in the New York metro area; a highly skilled practitioner at the apex of his career with an affable chair-side manner and a friendly, courteous staff. I brought my son to Dr Hoffman for oral Surgery to remove some baby teeth in Preparation for his orthodontist to place Braces. We had a pre consultation and were Told the extractions needed would be covered by our insurance. The doctor Neglected to inform me that if he would Need to perform the procedure with Anesthesia . The day of the appointment The doctor did not want to do the surgery Without putting my son to sleep. It seemed To me to make the process easier for him Not because it was necessary . At the end of The day we were presented with an additional bill for the anesthesia for $500. This came as a complete surprise since We were told we would have no out of pocket Expense. We explained we were never told It would be additional but must have signed Paperwork saying we would be responsible For charges our insurance would not cover. When we tried to negotiate a reduced fee We were told we had to pay . Subsequently Since we felt we had a legitimate dispute We withheld payment. Dr Hoffman responded by sending us to a collection Agency which dinged my perfect credit history. The procedure was satisfactory But the experience and fee disclosure Became a disaster. Beware what you sign And ask about all possible fees if you seek Treatment from Dr Hoffman . Your credit score won't get hurt like mine. Be warned Not uninformed . read more

My son went to a dentist who referred Dr. Hoffman to him to have his wisdom teeth pulled. When he went they did x-rays, which his insurance didn't cover because the dentist who referred him had just taken them. They told him he had to pay over $100. Next they scheduled an appointment for him to have his teeth pulled, but told him he would need to bring $600 cash that day. I have never heard of this before and think their business practices are somewhat shady. Plus they were rude when they were talking to him. Be careful! read more

This guy is a crook. He removed my son's wisdom teeth for an agreed price. Had to pay him upfront and then get reimbursed from my insurance company. All this fine but when I went to get my own annual teeth cleaning from another dentist, which is fully covered under my insurance, I was told that my full annual $1500 benefit was used up? Since I had no dental work in that calendar year I called my insurance company. Sure enough Dr. Hoffman billed out the full benefit of both my son and me. He never touched my teeth and had no right to take my benefit!! Assumed it was a mistake, so I called him. His receptionist gave me a bs story and then he came to the phone and he said the same bs. I bridged on my insurance company and we proved he made a "mistake". He agreed but never resubmitted the claim so I never got my benefit back. I gave up and will NEVER USE THIS CROOK AGAIN. BEWARE AND DO NOT USE HIM. HE ACTS LIKE A NICE GUY BUT IS A CROOK. read more

I have had several procedures performed by Charles H Hoffman and my experiences have always been very positive. I have had my fair share of nightmares at many other dentists/oral surgeons and I can confidently say that he has always gone above and beyond my expectations. Although I do not live in the area any longer I would travel the distance for the quality of work performed. Not only is he terrific but his staff is absolutely wonderful and always make me feel as comfortable as one can feel at the dentist office.
