Hofmeyer Plumbing came recommended to me by several friends and came through for me in my biggest time of need just in time as a new customer for a reasonable price that was quoted up front. I discovered a flooded basement on a Friday afternoon after a heavy rain that continued for days. Calloway Restoration came out right away and verified the water was flowing in from the sump and the sump pump was not running and all of the emergency 24 hour plumbers were booked through the weekend and I had to stop the rising water and replace the pump ASAP so that we could start removing standing water, carpets and drywall and start drying out with fans before mold set in. Max answered first thing Saturday morning and was sympathetic to my needs even though I was not an existing customer when may people were in dire need for similar situations. He sent Jake out within the hour and he stayed as long as it took to replace my sump pump and evaluate and clean out the discharge line to keep more water from coming in the basement. Jake showed me what to look out for to keep the pump from getting damaged and keep water out of the basement until they could return to complete the work after taking care of the critical repair to get water pumping out of my basement before the next big rainfalls in the forecast. They returned the following week to complete and underground discharge line repair and extension and to clean gravel from the check valve and finish sealing up the sump/radon fan pit and confirmed optimal function of the primary and battery backup sump pump. They helped me out in my time of need and I never felt like they took advantage in any way with fair pricing and prompt and excellent service. I had been looking for a good go to plumber with leas than optimal service from past plumbers and Hofmeyer Max Plumbing definitely fits the bill and will be my go to plumber from here on and I would not hesitate to recommend them to any friends and family and I am grateful that they were recommended to me. When I read reasonably priced I have to LAUGH. What do u think it should cost to have someone come to your home, unhook a gas dryer, move it less than 3 feet in order to make room to get the washer in, move the dryer back and hook it up. Hands down... if you need a plumber this company is the best. I remember using them in our old home because they were local. They did a great job with a pipe that froze and broke. Years later in our new home we had an outside facuet handle break off. We had another company come out to fix it and I was NOT impressed, the tried to take advantage and do work not necessary and charged a fortune.. SO this time when a pipe froze and broke we called Hoffmyer again. The got here same day, very quick, and cleaned up afterthemselves, replaced the handle from the original company and overall it was less than the other company. Water was dripping through the ceiling from a second floor shower/tub. We called Hofmeyer to help identify the source of the drip and to fix the problem. When the repairmen arrived he was very rude, condescending and incredibly unhelpful. He said the tile was installed incorrectly which is why water was dripping. He didn't even turn on the water to investigate the problem. He left after five minutes. A few days later we received a bill in the mail for $79, which we paid. We figured out on our own that water was dripping because the shower head was not on tight enough. Water was squirting back against the wall where the spigot comes and then rolling down the inside of the wall. The plumber would have noticed this if he had simple turned on the water. A simple tightening of the shower head solved the problem. I will NEVER call Hofmeyer again and felt is was my duty to warn anyone considering this company for plumbing work. We have been using HOFMEYER plumbing for about 20 years. We have a house that is nearly 100 years old. We've tried a few different plumbers, but HOFMEYER has been the best. From small repairs to large, they've been awesome. Fair in their pricing, and great with their work and response time. I've had two jobs done by Hofmeyer now, first replacing a faucet and second replacing our water heater. They're very friendly and professional. Their prices are a little higher than some others, but they do quality work and get the job done fast. When we needed a new water heater, Max took the time to explain the different available models, which ones they recommend, and why. When I asked for a specific, upgraded model they didn't have in stock, they were able to get it from their distributor and install the next day. They showed up right on time, got to work, and cleaned up the area when they were done. When it turned out we needed an electrical upgrade for the water heater, they were able to contact an electrician and get him out right away to finish the job at a very fair price. I am extremely happy with the quality of work. Hofmeyer's service is well worth the price paid. read more

Long story short, in January 2018, damange had been done to a water supply pipe to the laundry room during an appliance repair. The details of the damage are not relevant. This happened on a Friday. Hofmeyer was booked and could not get here to fix the damaged pipe until Monday. However, while it was thought that we were left with water service, due to another unknown pipe defect, we did not. We called Hofmeyer and they did what they needed to do to get a plumber here first thing on Saturday. The plumber was extremely pleasant, and efficient. (They are ALWAYS extremely pleasant and efficient.) I have had reports that they are expensive. However, we've now used them twice and I find their prices to be reasonable. read more

The plumber arrived on time . . . was fast, friendly and efficient, and I have a hundred year old house with some of the original fittings - very cool, but parts are no longer available. So he took the time to make sure he could fix the problems, and actually retooled some parts so they would work. And the price was less than I expected by half! read more

We stopped up our son and daughter in law's kitchen sink while babysitting. We tried the usual fixes but no go. Called Hofmeyer at 7:45 am and phone answered on 2nd ring. This company should be reported to the Better Business Bureau. They did work on my mother in laws condo last year. She had a pipe burst that was repaired by them. It burst again, they recharged her to repair it again. A year later they call her and tell her they have additional work to do that will cost her another 300.00 and also tell her she owes an additional 200.00 from last year! When she began to cry when discussing this they got irritated with her and told her they would never do business with her again. You prey on the elderly and we will be reporting you. read more

This ended up being a VERY disappointing "service!" The second technician came and "fixed" the toilet leak issue. He explained that the FIRST technician (a young guy) probably didn't properly prepare the floor seal for the toilet. He said "I've got it fixed now..." and also said he noticed our fill valve needed replaced... About 2 weeks ago, I came into the bathroom in the morning to find ANOTHER puddle in front of the toilet! I called Hofmeyer Max (this is the THIRD TIME!) So, after ANOTHER 2 day wait, a "more seasoned" plumber came in with a helper. He explained how the previous 2 plumbers had "missed the problem" and that it appears that it wasn't the floor seal, but rather the bolts in the toilet tank were bad and water was seeping down around the bowl and ending up on the floor. So, after the initial one-week wait for the first service call, then having to shut down my toilet to wait for the SECOND service call, and then having to call AGAIN 3 weeks later for a THIRD service call... we receive a SECOND BILL in the mail! Note:we had PAID the first bill (over $200 for snaking the bathtub and "FIXING" the toilet) -- so we get ANOTHER BILL for $38 for fixing the toilet! My wife called and talked to (Max?) He argued that we had to pay because they came out AGAIN, and the fix was different than the first 2 times they came! My wife insisted that we had adjusted OUR schedules 3 times to accommodate Hofmeyer coming to do then REDO service work that was improperly done the first 2 times! He said, "I'm not going to be able to convince you that you owe us this money, so I'll go ahead and right it off. But don't EVER call us again for service!" OH! DON'T WORRY ABOUT THAT call ever coming! We've also let our friends who referred Max Hofmeyer to us about what has happened. They told us that their whole family USED TO use Hofmeyer! read more

We had a major break in our sewer line in the warehouse. Originally we called Roto Rooter and they discovered it with a camera. They gave us a quote for 12,254.00 to bust up the floor and dig down four feet to repair the break. I talked to Max Hofmeyer and although he didn't give me a hard quote, he said they are usually half the price of R. Rooter. I had heard good things about their company so I gave them the job. While it took a few days longer than he estimated, the cost of the repair was less than a third of R. Rooter. I would recommend them to anybody, and I would say they are honest as the day is long because I showed them the R.Rooter quote before they started the job. read more

Plumber called to install shower faucet and cartridge provided by Delta. Plumber attempted to remove the cartridge without a needle nose wrench because he had let another worker borrow his breaking the cartridge into pieces. He left and went to McCabes to purchase needle nose wrench returned with tool and you would have thought the entire wall was going to explode trying to remove the cartridge that he busted. Finished the job $150.00 labor only and faucet is still leaking he came back replaced 2nd cartridge took my new Delta cartridge said he would use at an apartment job because the o ring was split from debris from the 1st visit and said if it still leaks would have to replace everything cut the shower wall install new fittings approx $650 maybe take a little off the price since I had already paid for the 1st job. I phoned office Kyle said the cartridge was old and sometimes this happens and would not acknowledge plumber did not use proper wrench. Spoke with owner Max Sr and asked him why would I have them complete a job that they created. Will send complaint to BBB and Attorney General. read more

Called Monday after we closed on our new house, talked to Max. Told him we needed a gas line run for the dryer we were putting in, and quotes for a few other things. He said he have someone over the next morning. Chris showed up around 10, gave us a price for the work that was about what I expected. We gave him the go-ahead, he did the work over a couple of hours. I haven't seen the quotes for the other work, but I'm happy with the response, the work and the price so far. read more

We had a tenant report a stopped drain in the kitchen. This tenant is pretty handy and has been able to fix just about everything that goes wrong at the house, but this clog was beyond his reach and he was concerned that the pipes in the wall might be damaged. This plumber came highly recommended by both Angie's List and friends on Facebook separately. I left a message and someone got back to me the next day. They were out and fixed the problem that day and the bill was much better than expected. Great service at a great price. No wonder they have loyal customers. read more

Finally called them directly and was told they were very busy and running behind and weren't taking any new customers. Bummer. Had water come through my bathroom ceiling from the unit above me. Hofmeyer did a fantastic job repairing it! They cut a small opening in my ceiling and replaced a broken pipe. They were very conscience and cleaned everything up after they were done. I will call them again, but hopefully I won't have to. read more

Had a wonderful experience with Hofmeyer! We had a leak in the water pipe from the house to the street. We have watched countless neighbors have their yards dug up for similar issues, and were really worried about damage to our yard. Hofmeyer quoted us at half the price for total replacement of the pipe and used a special drill to put the pipe in through the house without digging up the yard. They took the time to dig up the grass and contain the dirt in the small patch they dug to connect the pipe. They refilled the hole, put the grass back down, and even cleaned the sidewalk. You can't even really tell they were ever here. They showed up on time and worked like crazy until it was done. So impressed with their professionalism.
