I'm just frustrated enough to write this updated review now because I have to pay to have another plumber come out to fix their work. These people are predatory and unprofessional. Would not recommend. What would've been nice is if the owner of this plumbing company saw the invoice number on my receipt in the last post and tried to reach out-- but he didn't. The overnight temps were below zero, the water supply is on the outside wall = frozen pipes. I called a number of local plumbers, and no one had anyone that could get to me quickly. Tarvin initially told me I would have to be a work in, understandably, I was not the first call for frozen pipes! Maybe 20 mins later, I received a call back from Tarvin and they told me a tech could meet me at my house in 45 mins. When the tech arrived (cannot remember his name), he told me they pulled him from his office duties for the day to take care of my issue. He was polite, friendly and got right to work. Within 15 mins he had the frozen line thawed, with no apparent leaks (fingers crossed). Polite, professional and reasonably priced. They also recommended a permanent fix for the freezing issue. The gentleman quoted me $1,695 in labor, as all the parts would be reused just refitted. I left work early, drove down there, disassembled, cleaned, and refitted them myself in 45 minutes. Duke came out inspected and turned the gas on. $1,695 for 45 minutes of work is disgraceful. You are taking advantage of people. I will be watching and reporting if you try to take my review down.

They had budgeted 1 1/2 hours, but they couldn't stay for the 2-3 hours the job would require, as they had another stop. Okey Dokey. There was also mold up under the sink as a result of the leak. I talked to Peggy (I think), and they could possibly get back to me on Friday or next Monday. Great, that gave me time to get the mold cleaned out. NEVER A CALL BACK. He said that if I provided my own pump I would be charged $600 to have them come out and install it. So, my question was, what are the additional $450 for? I am ok paying it, if I know what I'm paying for, but the information from the technician just wasn't adding up to the full charge. I reached out to Five Star to ask for an invoice. It came with a one line summary of the total cost of the work. I asked if they could please send an itemized invoice and explained the reasons I just mentioned above. After a bit of insisting, they forwarded my request to the manager. This was his response: ---- Hi Veronica My name is Garrett and I am reaching out to you regarding a sump pump we did for you on Sunday. I understand there was some confusion about the charges, I am here to help! So as far as a full breakdown goes, We pay around $350 -$400 for the sump pumps, and labor comes in right around $600. The remainder of the charge goes towards our 1 year workmanship warranty, administrative tasks such as tracking, scheduling and being a support system here for you if anything were to happen with it. We stand behind our work 100%. All of our pricing is flat rate, so breaking it down can be challenging in the sense of the charge does not change if we ended up taking longer to install the pump for you. We do it this way for the customer experience, as some plumbing companies do charge per half hour or hour, and can exploit the consumer by 'taking their time' so to speak to run up the bill. We always try to be transparent with our pricing, and just know that we are here to stand behind the workmanship and product we installed for you. We put a little bucket under the drain and noticed a couple of days later there was water in it, so we called again and explained what the problem was and hadn't been fixed. Ken Cox came the second time and put some putty around it and replaced a washer. This was all covered by our 89 dollar service call. Every time they came they were pushing their service insurance, We had to call a third time because it was still leaking. Ken Cox came back and told us it was shot and needed $360 new pipe and once again the service insurance push. We haven't needed a plumber for years and Marty said "they fix it right the first time", but we still didn't buy the contract and paid full price because I don't think we will be using them again. They are nice, clean technicians but not sure about quality work. Not sure if we paid a second service call but can't tell by receipt and hate waiting for techs to keep coming back.
